Jimoto - Review - Aspen - The Infatuation

"When Jimoto opened last winter from a Matsuhisa and Nakazawa alum, it was an immediate hit. The tiny counter-service spot dishes out hot ramen and five types of oozing soup dumplings, as well as poke bowls. Newly remodeled for this season, the dining room makes you feel like you’re aprèsing in Niseko, with Japanese art and coffee table books to peruse while resting your ski legs on the couch. It’s a perfect end-of-day spot to compare powder turns with friends over hot noodles and cans of cold sake." - Katie Shapiro

This place is hands-down one of the best ramen spots I’ve been to! The food is absolutely phenomenal. The vibe here is just right. It’s warm, welcoming, and has just the right amount of energy. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick meal or hanging out with friends, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to stay a while. And I have to mention Heather behind the bar, she’s awesome! brings such a great energy to the place. If you haven’t been here yet, go. You’re seriously missing out!

Very disappointed with both the service and the food. As vegetarians, we were shocked when the server brought out soup dumplings that contained meat. When we asked about what’s in it, the waiter apologized and said “I couldn’t even tell you what that was”. The ramen was mediocre at best. The poor service was especially surprising given that the restaurant wasn’t even busy and there’s really no excuse for such a mistake. Safe to say we won’t be returning.

The food was really good, we tried their coconut curry ramen, bao buns and the xlb dumplings. It was my first time trying that ramen and I really liked it. Their bao bun was also good. The XLB dumpling is okay. The atmosphere and service is very chill and the one who served us is very considerate. Recommend their Coconut Curry Ramen! Take it from someone who ate out a lot and from San Diego, CA 😁👍🏻

Our family ate here tonight, and we loved it! The food was great, the atmosphere was cool, and the server was awesome 👌 We've been on a cross-country trip and agreed that this was our best meal.

Google
Fantastic food, but being a ramen bar made it so there was no real service. Plastic cheap cups were a bit odd at a place serving 20-something dollar bowls of ramen, but gosh was the ramen outstanding. The pork especially was prepared perfectly.

Update: I would give this a 0/5 if I could, the owner of the restaurant would stalk you down on social media if you provide a bad review and hurl insults at you. (I also did not try to change flavors, but wanted to leave out ingredients in the new bowl as it felt wasteful) Original review: Giving this a 1/5 because it’s not authentic Asian food and is not up to par for the price tag :/ The ramen was mid. The egg was well done but the noodles and soup wasn’t anything special and didn’t taste that rich. The pork was nice though. The pork dumplings was disappointing - $14 pre-tax for only THREE dumplings? And the chilli sauce on top of the dumplings was just Lao Gan ma chili sauce. I could have made this at home for 1/10 of the price. I also found hair in my ramen and took a photo of it. They did give a fresh bowl of ramen but I’ve lost my appetite by then. The atmosphere is nice and service was OK, but you do pay and tip upfront which was very confusing.

Edit: I updated to 2 stars since the owner talked to me afterwards about the experience, so at least they care about which parts went wrong. The restaurant probably fits most people's taste but it's definitely not authentic Asian food. Please don't come here! It's very overpriced but that's not even the worst part. They don't treat you as customer. They asked you to pay tips upfront, and after that they don't provide any quality service. We waited our food for more than half an hour, the waiter don't even wanna provide an estimate for us for when our food will be ready. The ramen is the worst ramen I have ever tried. The noodle itself is very soft and sticky. The soup doesn't taste like the tonkusu broth we had elsewhere. They only serve the salad together with the ramen even though it seems pre-made already. It tastes a bit sour but I would say it's better than the ramen.

Great ramen done right! Had the coconut curry special, seaweed salad, and some Philly cheesesteak dumplings and they did not disappoint. Highly recommend for some warm food on a cold day.

Yelp
Amazing food! Cheesesteak dumplings knocked my Sox off! Staff was friendly and so nice! Atmosphere is spot on, lots of local people hanging and chatting. The owner came by and was quite impressive, knows the Aspen food scene and has created a non-snobby really great place. Kudos Mr Bukac!

Yelp
This place f**ks. Seriously shocked to find an A grade ramen restaurant in aspen. Ramen was perfect. I cannot find a fault, except that I wasn't hungry enough to eat two. I got the pork tonkatsu ramen. Pork was fantastic. Getting a double serving next time. Philadelphia dumpling was surprisingly good, felt more like Gyoza. Overall love this place and will be coming back. Price was very reasonable for Aspen. You might consider it expensive if you've only had cup of ramen.

Yelp
Decent ramen spot. They have just a couple things on the menu: ramen and dumplings, but both are delicious. The menu itself doesn't mention prices because they vary but happy hour which ends around 5pm ramen is $15 and dumplings are also $15 but it's BOGO. Overall casual dining, recommend if you're looking for something filling and affordable.

Yelp
I would say it's not the best ramen, but it's good for Aspen. I ordered the vegetarian ramen and came in big bowl with noodles, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, tofu, bean sprouts, corns and garnished in sesame seeds. The broth was good and it's really fills you up. My friend ordered the taco sashimi it was good too. But the dumplings were way too small for the price. Ambiance was very casual, cool music and plenty magazines to read from playboy magazines to living in Japan book. Service was good and overall it was good.

Yelp
We were very excited to try Jimoto Ramen while visiting Aspen. We were first drawn to coming here because they had great reviews. When we approached the restaurant, a very nice waiter greeted us and asked and immediately made us feel more than welcome. We started with an order of Spicy Pork Gyoza. They were spicy pork dumplings that were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and packed full of flavor. I could've eaten several orders! We ordered the Tokoyo Style Tonkotsu and the Mountain Miso. Both were very good if you like ramen. They even made our daughters their own ramen that only had chicken in it. The menu is very limited which made it easy to decide what we wanted to eat. They have indoor and outdoor seating and even have some very comfy chairs to enjoy if you're not looking to sit at a proper lunch/dinner table. The entire restaurant was very clean, service was top notch and the food didn't disappoint. Be sure to check them out while you're in Aspen.

Yelp
Discovered this spot while in Aspen and it is a find if you love Ramen. Very limited menu- basically ramen and dumplings. We had the pork soup dumplings, the cheesesteak dumplings, pork ramen and chicken ramen. All delicious! Really nice decor, vibe and service. Actually got the food to go and they did an excellent job assembling the ramen for optimal home enjoyment. Met the owner who was great. Not cheap, but then again, it's Aspen!

Yelp
I have eaten here twice. Both times I had a great experience. The menu is simple and I appreciate that. The Ramen was great as were the dumplings and sauces. The staff is friendly and the service is quick. It has been busy both times I have visited. TJ, the manager, is fantastic. He is attentive to the customers needs, makes sure people have a timeline on their food, is quick to provide added service (making sure you have enough of your drinks, clean away the table, etc.) He is certain to greet you as you arrive and warmly say good bye and thank you as you leave. I see other reviews that mention that the Ramen is average - the service alone makes up for that if you find the Ramen average. I also think the pricing is affordable and not out of scope for what you get, especially up against general average pricing in Aspen.

Yelp
This place is a wonderful addition to the Aspen community! Cool vibe and excellent food. I had the Tokyo ramen and it was amazing, best ramen in town! The dumplings were amazing, some classic flavors with some new fun styles like Philly cheese steak, surprising but just as yummy as everything else. The service was impeccable friendly and attentive! Highly recommend and will be back to try the poke!

Yelp
The pork ramen was delicious! It's not easy to find a ramen place that does it so delicious. I literally didn't want my dish to finish :) we also had some sake. They have good variety of sake to select from. We will definitely be back for soup dumplings. The ambiance is so quaint and pretty. The gentleman who served us the ramen was polite and friendly. Overall, it was a great experience! They also offer to-go option if anyone needs!

Yelp
If you'd like to pay $25 for noodles that were somehow mushy and undercooked at the same time AND feel ill for hours after, this is the place for you. I'd give 1 star but the ume flavored black vinegar served with the soup dumplings was very nice.

Julia A.

Yelp
The ramen is not great. Very bland , you'd expect more than 2 pieces of pork and bean sprouts. The rest was just mushy ramen noodles However I will give it another try with the Poke since I heard it's good. Unfortunately we don't have more ramen options in Aspen

Yelp
great fun , casual, priced reasonable. manager Jojo (JT) was very friendly, helpful , really offered great service on his part. Worth trying because of the manager !

Yelp
Their hours state that they are open until 8 PM. I showed up at 2:30, paid $10 for parking out on the street then found out they don't open until 4 PM. Do not go by the hours listed on yelp.

Yelp
Awesome food, drinks and experience. Actual vegan ish options which is rare in these parts.

Yelp
Wow, totally delicious tonkotsu ramen. (And I lived in Japan for a couple of years so I am picky about my ramen). They lightly grill the chashu pork belly, yum. Egg was perfect. Can't wait to try the miso ramen and soup dumplings next time. Love the interior and vibes, and that they offer a Bowl Club (discount ramen and beers) to support the locals. Takeout available.
