Ya know, it's been a long time since I was last at JINYA Ramen Bar in Bellevue but alas, I found myself back here after a few years to meet a friend for lunch before watching a movie nearby. And unfortunately, I can't say it was the best ramen in town.
We visited on a Sunday for lunch and the place was busy. There was a line outside the door, waiting for names to be called. For the two of us, my friend and I waited about 15 minutes for a table. The place was bustling and throughout our time here, people were waiting to get in. Who knew JINYA was so popular? Or it because it's one of the few eateries to eat at Crossroads?
I ordered the black truffle ramen while my friend had the spicy tonkotsu ramen. It didn't take long for our bowls to arrive. Everything looked good, but the taste was A-OK. I think I was most disappointed by how lukewarm the temperature of the ramen was. I like my ramen hot and piping and this wasn't close to that. It was as if the broth had been sitting around for a bit without anything to keep it heated. With that said, it affected the taste of my ramen, so wasn't as good as it could've been.
And I know inflation has jacked up the price of just about everything these days, but holy moly, close to $20 per ramen for what I found to be satisfactory was off putting. Compared to other ramen spots in town, JINYA wouldn't be one I'd recommend.
