Yelp
It'd been a while since we visited JINYA- while in the area and in the mood for some takoyaki we decided to stop by for some family dinner. JINYA is still busy, so you can check in through Yelp or at the front counter to put your name down for a table. We made it right on time for a five minute wait, so we were seated pretty quickly.
Immediately I order some apps, takoyaki, edamame, JINYA buns for the table, gyoza, their spicy shrimp tempura, and some seaweed salad. Of course the takoyaki and gyoza hit the spot, and their JINYA buns are always amazing. However this visit I was not impressed with the seaweed salad and the edamame. The seaweed salad had about two tablespoons of seaweed and the rest mixed greens, and their edamame wasn't salted- and was also over steamed so they'd lost a lot of the moisture.
For dinner I ordered the tonkotsu original and added corn, while my husband and daughter ordered the chicken wonton. My tonkotsu was delicious by itself- the broth was tasty, the bowl was full of broth and noodles, but only 2 pieces of pork. My husbands and daughters ramen didn't have a lot of flavor, by this time they were busy so we didn't even see our server to ask for chili oil or chili sauce for our broth, so we dealt with our ramen as best as we could.
JINYA is small, so it gets so busy so quick. Even with the tables full, and with not seeing our server so much, I noticed the team was hustling and helping each other out getting the food to the proper tables and making sure waters were refilled. They don't rush you either, which I extremely appreciate because I like to sit with my family and talk and eat at times. We opted for desserts and tried the mocho and their panna cotta. The panna cotta is great. This in my opinion is a MUST try here! If you visit JINYA, busy so not being your patience. The food is made fresh, the chefs work hard and the place isn't big. Their menu has a good variety and the drink selections are also plenty for you to come alone, with someone, or a group!
