"Jinya Ramen Bar will still open a location in Sugar Land, but it’s in a different location than originally planned. A tipster pointed Eater in the direction of a Facebook comment from Jinya Ramen Bar franchisee Jim Wang that indicates the ramen shop will open a location at 13509 University Boulevard in Sugar Land, in the same development as 85C Bakery Cafe. According to that comment, a lease has been signed, but no opening timeline has been announced just yet." - Amy McCarthy

We loved this place!!! Our first time coming and we absolutely love the customer service. Our waiter was very attended with us and the place was beautiful!! Reminded me of Japan 🇯🇵 We will definitely come back. The food was a 10/10 the ramen was delicious and we got takoyaki was good and for dessert we got mochi.

The food was really great. It was Saturday lunch rush and crowded. They sat us at a tall table top with strangers. We didn't know this family. They made me kind of feel funny because the father moved away from me and sat on the other side of the table. Shortly space opened at the bar so we moved. Other than that it was a great experience. The strawberry lychee mule was refreshingly delicious.

Had a great time eating here with my little sister. Haylie was an amazing waitress who gave great food suggestions, wonderful and quick service, and overall very nice. The food was delicious, fresh, and warmed me up. Will come again!

Lindsey the manager was so sweet! She greeted us when we came in although I had to ask her what she said in Japanese! This was our first time here, so our server Kevin walked us through the menu and his favorites - which we did order and he was right! Loved the bun, spicy chicken ramen, and the creamy vegan ramen. So good! It’s a little sad to mix it up to eat it because it’s so pretty 🤩 Kevin checked on us just enough, not too much, not too little. He was very friendly and nice! Loved the decor and everything in the restaurant was clean and neat. We will def be back!

I use to LOVE Jinya... then I think it just got entirely too big and ever since then the price has gone UP (sky high) but the quality and portions have gone DOWN!. So where do I begin: 1. Tonkotsu spicy ramen is one of the only ones that doesn't come with an egg. Why? Is their spicy sauce made of gold? Probably not since their spiciest tonkotsu DOES come with one. Make it make sense. They are charging premium prices for broth, noodles, a couple of bean sprouts, and a piece or two of meat. Most ramen places include an egg, corn, a few pieces of meat and still don't charge as much as Jinya does. 2. Their broth is lacking a lot of flavor. It use to be incredible. Or... maybe there just weren't many options when I started eating at jinya. Now it's bland and basic at best. Every their meat is not seasoned and extremely bland 3. Their salad is always good even if they give you a hint of dressing 4. Their crispy chicken is ok... it use to be amazing but it seems to now lack flavor/seasoning. The texture of it is super crunchy which I like. 5. It's small. So if it's busy know you may be sitting with complete strangers shoulder to shoulder. Not to mention they yell loud everytime someone comes in which is a lot. Today is my last day eating at Jinya. It's just too disappointing especially for the price. I'm struggling to finish my ramen bc it just isn't good, but paying almost $30 for one person and a combo I feel forced to finish it. And even with these rising prices and subpar quality the icing on the cake... minimal service in the building but no guest wifi. In my opinion Jinya got too cocky. Don't settle. You can get better ramen with more "stuff" in it for a far better price than Jinya. It's so disappointing bc Jinya use to be my SPOT, and I put so many people on game. You've got better options in Rosenberg, Sugar Land and Katy. This is just a chain at this point, and a subpar one at best.

Google
This is one of my favorite spots, and they never disappoint. Today I had the Jinya Chicken Ramen with tofu and it was really good. Our server, Zeno, also did a great job making our visit memorable. Though this location is not close to me, I always stop by when I'm that side of town.

Jamie, our server for the evening, welcomed us with a genuine smile and guided us to our table with grace. Her friendly demeanor and genuine interest in ensuring our dining experience exceeded expectations set the tone for the evening. Throughout the meal, Jamie's attentiveness was impeccable. She patiently answered our questions about the menu, providing insightful recommendations tailored to our preferences. Her knowledge of the ingredients and cooking techniques showcased her dedication to her craft and the restaurant's commitment to excellence. Not only did Jamie ensure that our orders were promptly taken and delivered, but she also checked in periodically to ensure that everything was to our satisfaction. Her proactive approach and genuine concern for our enjoyment left a lasting impression. The quality of the food at Ramen Haven was outstanding, but it was Jamie's exceptional service that elevated the dining experience to new heights. Her professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail are a testament to the outstanding hospitality that Ramen Haven strives to deliver.

Yelp
This a really fun and the food is great. Oh I almost forgot, Kaely is great, efficient, and fun.

Yelp
Went last night cuz I was craving some kind of soup. It was pretty busy but we were still sat within a few mins of arriving. I got my usual the tonkotsu spicy sub for pork soboro. We also had the pork gyoza and broccolini. There was a small mix up with the broccolini but the manager was kind to offer to take it off the bill due to the wait. It came out some time after the ramen . Another thing to mention I always see them cleaning and paying great attention to detail when u visit this location. Try them out!

Yelp
The same high Jinya standards that you expect from all the other locations can be found here. Friendly staff, quick service, and delicious ramen.

Philandra M.

Yelp
I am have been going here for years and have never had a bad experience, the ramen is fresh and tasteful. The staff greets you at the door and they always have excellent service. The ambiance is usually a dark vibe in which I love in the middle of the day. You can sit at the bar, a table, or even the ramen bar where you can watch them prepare the ramen. I usually order the hot spice level that has the perfect kick. The chicken wings are always amazing, super crunchy and cooked to perfection.

Blake G.

Yelp
Always enjoy JINYA quick and yummy so much flavor bun bau so good the pork ramen also very yummy with salted egg

Reecha M.

Yelp
Been coming to jinya for years and I love how versatile their menu in. More recently I Iove how many specials or temp stuff they have. Got my go to spicy chicken here. Service was very pleasant and the place is vibrant and lovely as always. Side note get an egg in your ramen if you don't. Their egg is cooked to perfection at all times.

Rachel E.

Yelp
I've come here for weekday lunch recently and appreciate their quick service and friendly staff. Place is still pretty busy but easy enough to get a table for 2. This past time we sat at the bar, and I ordered the shrimp wonton ramen which comes with thick noodles and 5 wontons. My advice is to take the wontons out and put them back in when you want to eat it OR eat them really fast. My first wonton was perfect with lots of shrimp but then the rest of them I think got over cooked in the broth so they weren't as delicate. It's like eating Korean tofu soup- gotta take the shrimp out and eat it else it just gets kinda tough texture. Other than that, it was great and would definitely try again. I did notice that they have a kids ramen but it's like $12 which is not cheap for a kids meal. It would be nice if they had some other kid options or maybe I would just order extra noodles and split.

Emma S.

Yelp
Always a 10/10. Their spicy creamy vegan ramen is so flavorful and delicious. One of my fave ramen places in the sugar land area

Natalie M.

Yelp
GREAT PLACE! Their spicy tuna is amazing and their ramen is great. The service is alright but the food makes up for that. Would come back :)

Andrew W.

Yelp
Came to this location for the first time! My friends took me here for the BD dinner I am a Jinya lover and very spicy on comments as I care about ramens especially vegan options. Today, I saw a new menu (Vegan red fire opal) and gave myself a try for my BD dinner Let me tell you, that was a big bingo to me! It was a spicy yuzu flavor which is a citrus that is native to Japan They put the spicy oil on side so I was able to control the spicy level. Saltiness, tartness, sweetness and spiciness was perfect! The amazing taste is guaranteed especially if you like tartness! I personally enjoyed it very much and easily 5 stars for me! Twas a very good dinner! The staff (Kevin) was very friendly and gave us good vibe at the restaurant! Definitely try this one again! Come for those who are vegan/vegetarian Cheers

Shomaila Ali A.

Yelp
Excellent food Excellent service Amazing ambiance One of my only favorite go to restaurants for ramen! Love their spicy chicken ramen and crispy fried chicken

Preston I.

Yelp
Food and service were both very good. Wish I remembered the names of the dishes that I ordered. Highly recommend JINYA for all your ramen needs!

Nikia P.

Yelp
I came here with my sissy for the first time, the chicken ramen was so flavorful, it tastes like homemade chicken noodle soup with a kick of flavor. Our server, the bartender Kevin, was awesome, he recommended the shrimp wonton soup which had wontons full of shrimp. We started with peach margaritas and tempura vegetables brussels sprouts and corn. The ambience was smooth somewhat intimate for a date night, everyone is greeted upon arrival extremely welcoming and relaxed vibes. I will definitely be coming back with the hubby!

Juliana C.

Yelp
My go to place for ramen in sugar land. I always like to order the tonkotsu black (spicy), jinya buns, and karage. The karage is always cooked perfectly and super crispy. Jinya buns, oh my. The soft, warm, sweet bao bun is enough to order this item but add on the fillings. Yum! The reason for 3 stars is because of my most resent visit my spicy tonkotsu black was lacking. It was not as fatty, spicy, or heavy as I was use to and the cashu was dry. The egg was cooked to perfection as always. I never have a bad experience here with the waiters. The jinya staff in sugar land is kind, friendly, and fast.

John C.

Yelp
If you're on a quest for the great ramen experience, look no further than JINYA Ramen in Sugar Land! From the first heavenly slurp to the last savory bite, their ramen is a gustatory masterpiece. The broth, oh, the broth! It's a symphony of flavors, impeccably seasoned and simmered to perfection. My personal favorite, the Tonkatsu Ramen, is pure bliss in a bowl - a delightful dance of tender pork, flavorful broth, and perfectly cooked noodles. And let's not forget their Crispy Chicken, a delightful starter that tantalizes the taste buds and sets the stage for an epic ramen feast. Though the Sugar Land location may be cozier, time it right, and you'll snag a seat to embark on this flavor-filled journey. The staff, with their personable charm, ensures your dining experience is nothing short of extraordinary - attentive to every detail, making you feel right at home. And oh, the strategic location is a stroke of genius! With boba and delectable pastries beckoning from the neighboring door, it's a one-stop destination for culinary delight. So, if you seek soul-warming, lip-smacking goodness, don't hesitate! Head over to JINYA Ramen and prepare to be captivated by their exquisite flavors and impeccable service. A culinary adventure awaits, and you'll leave with a heart full of gratitude for discovering this gastronomic haven. #JINYARamen #RamenLove

Yelp
Rolled in for a casual lunch in the establishment, it was a bit loud ambience wise but was a great choice for a catch up with some friends. The staff are kind and helpful in terms of recommendations, and they do a cool thing with Thank You's! The place is smaller than I thought but it has tables for multiple dif sized groups. I opted for the spicy creamy vegan, and added some spicy sauce to give an extra kick. The ramen itself was good, broth was nice, and I loved the thick noodles. However, something about the tofu that day was a bit eh. I wish we could get fried tofu if that was an option! I would come back for a ramen fix as it's probably one of the top options I know of in the Sugarland area without going downtown.

Macey M.

Yelp
The food was ABSOLUTELY amazing, and I am bougie with my food standards. The broth was creamy the egg was perfectly cooked with a soft yolk, everything was cooked to perfection. Nothing was overcooked or undercooked. 10/10 for taste and texture. It even heated up perfectly the next day. Even better really. The only thing that took me by surprise (and I won't even call this a complaint because I didn't check prices beforehand) was that the bowl cost $37. The full bowl is in the video. Now I did add extras, cabbage, bamboo shoots, green onions, spiced egg, and 5 extra dumplings (because it only came with three) again, my fault for not checking prices all I knew was making it spicy was an extra ($1.50) everything else was a surprise. But I can't say it wasn't worth it. I don't think I'll add as much extra next time because my pockets aren't that deep but I will absolutely recommend this place to friends. The best Ramen place I have tried by far In Houston as far as taste!!

Fran B.

Yelp
The food, service and ambiance are great. Every menu item we have tried has not disappointed.

Jason O.

Yelp
Food was amazing first and foremost. Broth top notch. Price is ehh a bit but I was told a hack - to have a side of rice- so you can pour the remaining broth over for a fuller meal. So glad I decided to have ramen today, this being my first try of JINYA I can definitely say I'll be back and the aesthetics of the interior make me wanna grab a table instead of ordering to go. Only thing I could say needs improvement is the process to pay for my order took way too long. My order was up front ready for me and hot . So when I reached to grab my form of payment the bartender turned to make drinks (not the odd part) i lay my payment down and wait for him to come back - it took close to 10min / just saying I could have had a free meal if I felt that way. Otherwise everything else was slapping

Brian P.

Yelp
Tonka ray Ramen is very tasty with a variety of flavors. Service was somewhat quick and steady. The mood and vibe of the room is very chill and ancient. Cool experience.

Tony N.

Yelp
For this cold weather, we decided ramen. As we walked in we got a whole staff greeting. There was no wait if we sat at the bar. So that the option we took. The server was nice and entertaining. Gf wanted to try something new so we got the nikuman, which is a steam bun. We also got the salmon poke taco, which was pretty dang tasty. Killed it in 2 bites lol. I'm not too big of the nikuman(steam bun) I rather get a Vietnamese steam bun. Our ramen came out pretty fast. I got the kara men and my gf got the tonkotsu original 2010. Kara men did had bit of a kick. But still good.

Yoruba R.

Yelp
This place is amazing the service and vibe is welcoming. Vincent was so nice and provided me with recommendations on the best meal. Let me say I only ordered a pick up and didn't dine in. However, I'm not a big fan of Ramen, but really enjoyed this place the next time I will actually dine in and try something a little different for me. The food was OK but again I'm not a Ramen food eater. I really enjoyed the environment and it's a great place to eat. They had great appetizers and the service was phenomenal.

Y K.

Yelp
The food is average and nothing special about them. There are so many more options available now in the area that is better.

Joyce F.

Yelp
food was great and service was fine, too, but it was sooooo much noisier today than previous times ive been there-- we really didn't like having to yell at each other to be heard over all the racket, the music was way too loud, and the entire staff yelling, "Hello" and "goodbye" at literally everyone who came or went through the door was annoying.

abby f.

Yelp
Food was great! I highly recommend Jinya to family and friends. Our server, Kaely was great! Very friendly and knowledgeable. She was also patient when we were asking questions. Will come again!

Kristin H.

Yelp
So good love the atmosphere! For my appetizer, (I forgot to take a picture), but I ordered Spicy creamy shrimp tempura-SO GOOD!!! Only thing negative i would say is the seating. You are literally on top of the person to your left or right unless you sit at the bar. my second time here and I will definitely keep coming back.

Kinjal S.

Yelp
Was craving JINYA for dinner and came to this location since I was in the area. I was seated at the bar since i was by myself. It looks cramped inside. I got the flying vegan harvest. It was okay, I should've asked for it to be a little spicier. This location also doesn't have the sauces out. Service was okay. It was so hard to hear the waiters cause it was SO loud. I wouldn't come here if I was with friends can't hear the other person. Will probably try again to see if maybe today was off day.

Matouš P.

Yelp
Tasty ramen and starters. Service is generally very good. Prices are about what is expected. Tables tend to be very close together or shared. We will generally opt to sit at a corner of the bar.

james b.

Yelp
When we went to jinya this past weekend we experienced excellent service from Zack! He was the sweetest! And very kind and respectful towards me and my girlfriend! We be back shortly!

Aaron W.

Yelp
A bit on the pricey side for Ramen, but it's in the Sugar Land TC where the rent is super high, you can tell because there are revolving doors as far as store fronts. Atmosphere is great, and service was attentive and kind. Anytime I have gone I've never had to wait for a table personally.

Eliza L.

Yelp
4.5/5 stars Jinya Ramen Bar @ Sugar Land, TX. When the weather is cold outside, eating ramen is the BEST and warm. You just can go wrong with ramen. Jinya Tonkotsu Black (pork both, 3 slice pork chashu, green onions, egg, & kikurage) $15.80 added Chicken Chashu 3 slices $4.00 4.5/5 stars. Jinya pork bun $5.00 4/5 stars. Jinya is one of my favorite one places. Andrew was our waiter. He was amazing. Great customer service.

Ashley W.

Yelp
So I am from California and I was around during Jinyas early years when they opened their doors in 2010 in studio city. When I saw they had the "original broth 2010". I of course had to try it. Now I am older and to be fair taste buds change. In my opinion not that dramatically much. This location version of "2010" was not good I would not recommend it and I used to love Jinya in studio city. My friend also ordered their current tonkotsu broth and that was not good either. Not sure what's going on at this location as the one located in cypress is very good and their current broth is actually closer to the original broth. I know it's turned into a chain but a disappointment that quality control has been lost and now you can't depend on each location being consistently the same no matter where you go.

Courtney H.

Yelp
STARTERS: -The Jinya bun is a steamed bun stuffed with slow-braised pork chashu, cucumber and baby mixed greens served w Jinya's original bun sauce and Kewpi mayo. It is nice but a bit underwhelming compared to a nearby bao place. Tasty but this is a one time try. Next visit it is best to just focus on the ramen. - The Salmon Poke mini tacos are a skip. Flavorless and very plain. It would have been nice for them to add at least one spice or marinated vegetable. The small lime wedge was not enough to bring this mini taco back from the reject list. ENTREES: -The spicy ramen was nice with a medium size noodle, however it wasn't as spicy as one would think. - The Jinya Tonkotsu Black Ramen was great but a little pricey at $14 + add ons. Overall, it was worth it for the flavor. The seasoned eggs are cooked to perfection and the fired onions were great. Pickled ginger would have been nice to add. The thinner noodles were more enjoyable compared to the medium noodles of the spicy ramen. ADD ONS: -It seems that the Mushrooms were just plain baby portobello mushrooms. Nothing worth the price. -The Spicy sauce add on is NOT spicy. After adding the entire serving and turning the broth red there was not a sniffle or throat clearing to be had. It was a nice flavor but should not be labeled as spicy. SERVICE: QR codes are available or menus are provided. Upon arrival all guests can expect a friendly greeting from the entire staff. Both times service has been really pleasant but at times can be a bit slow however, not slow enough to be upsetting. All of the staff wore masks. AMBIANCE: The decor is great! Woodwork an a large mural make the restaurant feel very trendy. The only complaint is that if you are seated at the bar towards the front and not a booth or table then the music is so loud that it's hard to hear the person next to you which is troublesome if you are a party of two or more. Overall, I went twice in week and would go back again during another visit to Sugar Land, Texas.

Khloe A.

Yelp
One of the best ramen places in the area! It was pretty packed but our food came suprisingly fast. I got the chicken wonton ramen and it was delicious. The soup tasted similar to wonton soup and the wontons were so flavorful and juicy. And the place was so nice. But the seating is a bit weird.

Michelle M.

Yelp
I ALWAYS come to Jinya when I visit Houston. The food, vibe, and customer service is always top notch. I always get the Spicy Tonkatsu. The broth is always so rich, creamy, and full of flavor. The Brussel sprout tempura was surprisingly amazing. So light, crispy, and nicely seasoned. I highly recommend it as an appetizer. If you're looking for a drink to try, get the lychee Moscow mule. So yummy!

Sarah T.

Yelp
Great ambience and great food . Very family friendly as well. Love the colors inside the restaurant .

Paige W.

Yelp
The ramen was top-notch! Soooo good!! Service was good as well. The only thing we didn't like is that it was a little loud for us, but then again we're getting older haha. The menu font was tiny and I laughed to myself and thought if I have trouble reading the menu, I'm too old to eat here haha But I'll be back with my reading glasses bc it was really good!

Nancy D.

Yelp
My husband and I dined here for the first time and didn't know what to try. We sat at the bar and our sever was Kaely and she immediately greeted us and made great recommendations for us to try a couple of dishes. The food was very good but the hospitality was even better. I work in the industry and customer service is something that can make or break my experience and Kaely exceeded my expectations with how personable she was. We'll definitely be requesting her the next time we return for our date night!

Maria C.

Yelp
My search for authentic ramen taste is finally over today. Jinya Ramen in Sugar Land is now my place to go. Today, I ordered wonton chicken ramen and the crispy chicken. The broth is creamy. Delectable is how I want to describe it.

Julio H.

Yelp
We have to go here once a week because my daughter loves their Tonkotsu black Ramen and the tempura Brussel sprouts

Sam T.

Yelp
Ambient: enjoyable, good vibe, not sure about the yelling from the cooks Complexity of the menu : medium Service: excellent service, our server was very attentive and accommodating. Cleanliness: restaurant and restroom was clean overall Food: food was very delicious, really enjoyed the shrimp appetizer. Ramen had excellent flavor and the presentation was very appetizing. Overall experience: We had an excellent experience and would definitely come back to try more food from their menu.

John K.

Yelp
Not sure why but did not enjoy this location as much as the one in cypress or city place.

Yaneli V.

Yelp
I personally love Jinya I love the ramen and the way they cook it! The vibe is good the only thing I don't like is they don't have enough tables to sit at :/ There service is definitely A1!

Zoey N.

Yelp
It's been a minute since I last dined here, partly due to Covid. Not really a fan of ramen in general but Jinya is one of a few spots that I'm willing to go to. The interior is really nice and cozy. Plenty of seats but some are limited cuz of Covid. My bf & I opted for the bar this time. We were greeted by our server named Kenneth. He was super friendly, amazing, very polite and took great care of us. We would recommend him to anyone dining in here. For us, service is 10/10. We ordered black tonkotsu ($14) and spicy tonkotsu ($13). Spicy tonkotsu doesn't come with seasoned egg so I ended up order it on the side which is $1 extra. Ramen was super pricey IMO because we got ONLY 2 slices of pork each bowl!!! I was shocked, started digging down the bowl to see if there's anything else down there but sadly no :( don't get me wrong both of our ramens tasted fantastic but I didn't think it's worth the price! Other than that, everything was fine. Would consider another ramen places in town next time instead of Jinya unfortunately.

justice n.

Yelp
This was my favorite place to eat with the best ramen until today. Today I ordered the spicy chicken ramen as I always do and as I was eating I came across not 1 but 2 huge green stink bugs floating in my bowl! I am beyond disgusted, I spoke with the manager and she told me it probably came from their shipment truck. If your shipment truck has bugs in it then imagine what else. Sadly I will not be coming to eat at jinya anymore!

Jenniffer M.

Yelp
Cold weather and warm ramen. Absolutely delicious food! The ambiance is really neat too! I think the wait time was long due to everyone wanting something warm right now, but the wait time was only 15 minutes. It was worth the wait.

Christalyn W.

Yelp
Jinya Tonkotsu Black double habanero heat level. The pork is deliciously tender and succulent. The noodles are perfectly cooked with a satisfying chew. The habanero broth is a little underwhelming, I thought it would be spicier. However it still had great flavor.

Joyce F.

Yelp
First time here, but it will not be the last. But if you like spicy, even their "hot" is not very spicy-- even my girlfriend who doesn't like spicy added some of their sriracha blend to her food.

Leslie K.

Yelp
This location, in my opinion, does the best take out. The kid's meal is such a great deal- and this location will pack an orange and ice cream to go. Downtown location only packs the lollipop haha. Anyway, I can't believe the pandemic has driven up the prices so much, but it is a staple in our ramen rotation.
