JINYA Ramen Express

No indoor seating to start off. As you can see this is an “express” location. They make it so you can walk away with your soup on a tray and sit in the outdoor seating area around that 3rd floor. I don’t recommend if it’s cold or raining. Ramen is great though. We just got the signature bowl #1. Great pork broth flavor. Crispy chicken tasted great too. Nice canned beer selection too.

This is supposed to be express grab and go place for Ramen as the name suggests but there was only one person behind the counter with a long queue of customers waiting to get their lunch. We spent 1 hour waiting before our lunch was ready. And despite all the wait, the noodles were not fully cooked. We have eaten previously at their other locations with sit in restaurants and food and experience was way better there. We like their vegan ramens and that’s very rare to find, hence we thought it was worth the wait. But this location for sure needs more staff if they have to save their brand reputation.

The food was really good, and the service was both helpful and friendly. The only downside was that the place was a bit difficult to find.

Express ramen bar but honestly tastes amazing, especially the protein and vegetables - probably the best protein you can get from a ramen spot, and a pretty average price for these spots. Employees are always super nice - it is super slow here because of the set up, but that’s life sometimes-you wait for the quality and you get it.

After I visited, I couldn't stop thinking of the ramen I had for a few days! It was that good!! It doesn't look that filling at first glance, but you will definitely leave on a full stomach after. Every bite was packed with flavor, and I wish I could've had more. The broth is amazing and what makes a delicious ramen. The service was also quick and friendly. I cannot wait for the day I return to Jinya!

Awesome food with simple, fresh and tasty ingredients. Great customer service...It was my first time here and the server kindly explained everything to me. I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was and I was very much satisfied after finishing my meal. Definitely worth a try. The location is nice because you have a nice view of Hollywood blvd from the dining area.

I took the Vegan Ramen dish, they have a few and you can make your own, the broth was great and the flavors and noodles were awesome! Would recommend! Staff were nice and helpful, if you love ramen I think you’ll enjoy this place👍🏻

The third floor of Ovation Hollywood offers a competitive lineup of eats in between multiple days of movie-watching, as it was during the TCM Film Festival. Being right next to the multiplex, JINYA definitely has one of the more enticing smells for the passerby. Although busy, the line moves fairly quickly considering there's only one staff member at the front taking orders and filling bowls, while the kitchen staff at the back prepares the noodles, soup, sides, and toppings. I decided to give the kara-men a go, a chef's special as the restaurant proclaims. In less than five minutes, my order was in hand and ready for takeout which is no small feat. First thing I noticed about the kara-men is the fragrant scent of the soup. Its spiciness was not overpowering, and in fact I actually wanted a bit more kick. The ground pork, sesame seeds, green onions, eggs, and broth, they all complemented each other well. The cost was around $18, and when I finished it quickly dawned on me that I might still be hungry. Portion-wise, I feel it is kinda small, so I would recommend ordering a side as well.

My bf used to be out here all the time and always talked about how good this spot was! My friends and I were in the area so we decided to grab dinner here. Super small bar with outside seating overlooking the front of the Dolby Theater. We ordered for here and after paying, we realized that they didn't have much of a selection for toppings and really everything. Lots of empty spots which was weird. We chose what we could for our Tonkotsu but I wish I got extra fresh garlic because it was not very flavorful. I'm a huge fan of garlic and it didn't even taste like anything was in it. Maybe I should've gotten the black garlic or fried garlic instead? Not sure. Maybe the spicy is more flavorful? Idk. I was a bit disappointed but ate the toppings and a bit of the ramen that I could. The Brussels and buttered corn were great but the thick noodles felt under cooked. I enjoyed the egg that they put in but even that lacked flavor. if you: - dislike good fast Japanese food - prefer a classy ambience with overpriced meals - hate funny deadpan Darya-type but helpful servers Don't go to Jinya. Jinya is a build your own ramen where you select your base soup + noodle type + proteins + veg + toppings. It was pretty good, the broth tastes divine. My bill for noodles came out to $15 and a smart water and tax came out to $20+ I was in Ovation mall (Hollywood and Highlands) for the Manila International Film Festival where they were screening a bunch of critically-acclaimed films from the Philippines and I had to meet some friends with my toddler so I couldn't exactly go in the theater with the little. We picked Jinya, which is sort of outdoors. They have limited seating, but a nice view of the Hollywood walk downstairs with the art/ souvenir hawkers and cosplayers and the El Capitan theater across. Might be a little too chilly during winter but nice to be outdoors for spring - autumn. Plus the soup will warm you up. Jinya is on the 3/F facing Hollywood Blvd. You can park in the mall and pay $3 good for 2 hrs with validation at Jinya. (if watching a movie, they also validate and give you 4hrs ).

Extremely slow. Completely unconcerned that the line is out the door. All the employees seem to be in a daze and are just drifting through the work day. No one is rude but do not walk in if you are in a rush.

It's a small ramen store right in the heart of walk of fame and has the sweetest workers. I got the creamy vegan ramen and was not disappointed, just wish that the broth was hotter. No inside seating but ample outdoor seating.

This place hits every single yuck from price, food quality, and cleanliness. If you want insanely overpriced mid noodles covered in tourist spit, show up. They "try and keep them away as best they can" but if literally every single sweaty spitting tourist leaning over the glass to point at their ingredient doesn't turn you off the food quality will. Mid broth, noodles seem like the "b team" noodles from regular jinya, and all the added ingredients (you pay extra for) seem to be taken from the fridge as they're all cold. Lastly the price is INSANE for all of this put together. Your $12 bowl comes out to $19 and change because of the taxes. I live next door and will just drive to any other ramen spot and not have the "tax" they're talking about. Must just be at the ovation center because Tatsu is a mile away and their ramen is MUCH higher quality and somehow cheaper? In fact, Kazan is on the Michelin select list and is comparable in price to this joke of a ramen bar. Do better jinya, your name is on this thing.

The vegan ramen sounded pretty interesting but it was definitely odd and I wouldn't order it again. The broth tasted like marinara sauce which was surprising. I wasn't expecting it and was disappointed. The noodles were just okay. I couldn't finish it because it wasn't very good.

Just had Jinya ramen for the first time before a premiere at the Hollywood Chinese Theater and I thoroughly enjoyed the warm savory broth, the piece of cooked and floating pork, the whole boiled egg, the evenly cooked thin ramen noodles, all the fresh jalapeño and garlic add on spices-- on a cold weather day with the only other alternative at the awful Hollywood & Highland Center being the Johnnie Rocket's, this Jinya Ramen bowl was a real treat. Will go again and try other things based on this first experience-- I like this chain. Nov 8 th - had it again today with the tonkatsu broth and it was even better, more savory and heartier. Delicious stuff when you're in a hurry!

The noodle dishes here are not what I would define as traditional ramen, but rather define as interesting, yet tasty experiments. I'm accustomed to ordering ramen at a dine-in restaurant with a menu of pre-selected ingredients for each specific ramen menu item. Here though, you order a type of noodle (thin, thick, or kale) and broth, and it's then filled with ingredients- similar to how burritos are filled at Chipotle or sandwiches are topped at Subway. The ingredients though, somewhat caught me off guard. Tomatoes? Sautéed green beans and onions? Brussel sprouts? Kale noodles? Any Japanese parents would disown their children if the children cooked ramen with those ingredients. HOWEVER, I gotta say, the "ramen" did taste good and I would actually return to this location again if I were hungry and in the area. Also, the seating area for Jinya is on a second floor balcony and is perfect for people watching on Hollywood Boulevard.

As someone who has been going to Jinya Ramen Bar since they opened both in Studio City and in Burbank, I was excited to try Jinya Ramen Express at Hollywood and Highland. The service was good however this was the worst ramen I have ever had in my life. I always order the Tonkatsu black at Jinya and so I was expecting the taste and quality to be somewhat similar or the same. They added some funky jalapeño to the ramen which is not standard in the Tonkatsu black. Also the flavor of the ramen with the ingredients had a flavor of Mexican food and ramen had a baby. It was not good at all. The chicken had a fajita salsa flavor which was odd considering the other Jinyas I've been to do not slather it in a weird sauce. Second, the noodle to soup ratio was terrible. The crispy chicken was dry, flavorless, and disgusting. It is a shame that the quality of the food is not up to par like the other locations. As loyal Jinya customer, I highly recommend them doing some sort of quality control so that the food taste consistent with the other restaurants. It literally left the worst taste in my mouth ever. It such a shame since this is such a prime location with the potential of getting regular customers.

Egg was way overcooked, meat was dry, noodles were undercooked. Mr. Ping would be ashamed.

Be careful when ordering here, I ordered a spicy miso bowl and the season egg was literally missing half of it, not sure if they tampered with or egg was damaged, either way how this is fair for someone who paid more than $20 for a single bowl, I think for that price I should receive a whole egg, not half cold egg. I ordered through Uber eats as a pick up order and still had to wait 20 minutes after Uber eats app stated that my food was ready, went to pick it up and nobody helped until 20 more minutes after food was cold by then and to my surprise when I opened this is what it looked like. They want to charge full price and give half ass orders, this is ridiculous.

Said 11am opening. At 11am it had a sign saying open but was locked. Some guy tried to hold up fingers from the back trying to tell us something. He then walked away. 10min later still not open. No rhyme or reason. Didn't look like they'd be ready anytime soon. We left.

Not the best food, I mean it's called "Express" for a reason. Quick service to build your own bowls or select ones that have been made for you. The food was warmish and the portions did not equate to the price even though I know this place is located in a touristy spot in Hollywood. Service was okay.

*Located in the deck dining area of the Hollywood & Highland mall (garage parking). If you're coming here, you're likely here for another reason (shopping, movies, Hollywood Boulevard, etc.). Fairly large menu for an express joint. Few arranged selections as well as the option to customize your own. They also sell beer. I thought the ramen was just okay. It didn't seem exceptional in any way but it didn't disappoint either. Relatively basic stuff. Outdoor seating with an excellent view of the El Capitan Theater across the street.

Yum!! This place was so convenient to access during the TCMFF. It was nice to get a warm meal during a busy film festival day!

This has always been my go-to for delivery but they've been slipping lately. More than once they've forgotten the egg which is arguably the best part of Ramen. Guess I'll have to find a new spot for delivery.

Employee who favored another customer. A lady speaking his language crowded my wife and I from behind and took her order for two sodas and a bowl of crispy chicken. It looked like he gave he EXTRA too cuz the couple right before us got a bowl of crispy chicken too and only got about 5pcs when the lady who crowded us got way more than that it looked like he went back to even top it off with a couple more pieces. Just sayin.

I tend to eat at a lot of Ramen joints. So much so that many are surprised to find out it's not my favorite food. It's Sashimi/Sushi by the way but that's off topic. So, last week, after seeing The Head and the Heart at Jimmy Kimmel Live, I ended up across the street at Jinya for dinner, with friends who also happen to be fellow Yelpers - Tora & Vienna. Let's start with parking. It's Hollywood. Good luck is all I have to say. Park at one of the paid lots and make your way to the Dining Deck on Level 3. If it helps, it's on the Hollywood Blvd side, overlooking The El Capitan. Think Chipotle. Place your order then move along as the staff assembles, or puts your order together. Three steps: Choose a bowl, a base then your toppings. It's not table service. You take your order away with you and then pray to the table Gods that you can find seating. Think food court. Open seating meaning it's like parking in the area - good luck. As for the food - I needed to eat and it served its purpose. I over did it with the toppings as I think I would have enjoyed it more had I just kept in simple. Instead, I loaded up my order with the kitchen sink (see pics). I wouldn't say it was awful as I did finish off my bowl - but know that my pics don't really give you an idea of the size of the serving - which to me is on the smaller side - thus all the toppings. Anyway, it was an okay experience. I can say I've been there and done that - but one I probably won't repeat.

The ramen here was okay. My favorite part was the noodles. But other than that, everything was kinda...meh. The broth was okay, so was the char shiu, but for the price, I expected a lot more. It was nearly $50 for 2 bowls of ramen, 2x eggs (which weren't even soft boiled - mind you!), and 2 drinks! That was ridiculous. I feel like for that price, I should be highly satisfied with what I ate.

My son and I walked in the restaurant at 8:31 as the stated closing time is 9:00. The gentleman stated that they closed at 8:30 and refused to serve us. All of the condiments for the ramen was still on the counter. Nothing had been broken down. I asked again for them to please serve us and they again said no and that they had closed. It was obvious that this was made up on the spot. For management-- this occurred on Wed March 8th.

Yummmmy right. Their communication with the customer is beyond. Answered my question easily and they know what they are doing. I love to explore ramen with my sisters they loved it so i will say u gonna never regret for landing here and try this delicious meal. Btw ramen soup supports and strengthens the magnesium, calcium etc in our body especially bone. You gonna have great view also. Well recommended...

Didnt try the sushi but let me tell you that there Ramen is top quality. It's very good for something in the Blvd away from the expensive Thai restaurants. Overall, 10/10. I ordered the spicy red miso ramen with pork belly...it was amazing!!!!

Had an interesting experience here yesterday while I was mid break with the film fest happening next door, and I got here in the middle of what seemed like a really hectic rush. There were 3 people I could see on the line, and the cook was nowhere to be seen in the area, they ran out of ramen soup so had to make an emergency batch, so they were rushing. Gave my order and then talked to another guy who tried to help, but had not a single clue about what he was doing. He looked at the ticket like 300 times and just got confused with the orders coming in. He was nice and making conversation, but really just stalling because he had no idea what he was doing, pretty funny, it was his second day. Anyway, the manager I'm guessing hustled over, apologized, and hooked it up when it came to toppings and extras because I was skipped a bunch, kept cool, and enjoyed the process. The food overall was pretty solid, nothing to write home about, but not bad. Solid 3 stars. Please tho, hire more people, be better prepared, don't get flustered, and handle business and you'll be good

Great food and view. It's a little hidden but great food. It hit the spot in a cold day in Hollywood.

Love.This.Place. First time and we enjoyed every bite! I ordered seaweed noodles, mushrooms, green onions, crispy chicken, Brussel sprouts, crunchy garlic, garlic paste and black sesame oil. Mom had thick noodles with all the same. Kids had pretty much the same too. From the first bite I was seriously impressed! Super yummy, very tasty and texture was on point. No one like mushy ramen, and this definitely wasn't. The bowl was the perfect amount. The Brussel sprouts were flavorful and went very well with ramen, surprisingly. The best part is how affordable it is. A little over $10 for all of that. Very satisfying! Located in the Hollywood mall on the dining deck area. Right next to the theaters. The area inside to order is tiny but there's lots of room to eat on the deck outside. There is a parking structure for the mall and all of the eateries offer validation of $2 for the first 2 hrs. Highly recommend if you're in the area. We stayed in the San Diego and Anaheim are but couldn't manage to find one around...

I definitely think this place is overrated. For being at Hollywood/Highland, I expected much better. The build-your-own concept is a bit cool though. I'd still suggest going to either Gardena or Little Tokyo, etc for better and cheaper. Ordering is pretty simple and straight forward. They apparently have a "ramen salad" which I'm a bit flabbergasted by but hey, gotta be innovative right? LOL. You order your ramen/soup/etc first, then when your name is called, you get to pick what goes in your bowl. So. Service. The cashier chick I had didn't look happy/tired/cat died/i don't know and was monotonously asking what we wanted. I started naming off the toppings for my bowl because I didn't know how it worked and she loudly cut me off and said "No! You order do that later...Do you want an egg?" Paid ~$11 and went off to wait. Same girl decides to take over from the other chick putting toppings for my bowl and didn't even bother washing her hands nor put on gloves. When I asked for each topping, she'd just say "what else?....what else?..." I asked for some garlic in my bowl, thinking she'd put in a little, only for her to DUMP THE WHOLE LADLE in the soup :O She did the same for my friend but with chili oil. TLDR; Do something about that worker, soup was extremely HEAVY and oily, meat was pretty good, but overall, its going to be a pass for me next time.

Surprisingly delicious ramen here! This is a make your own joint with counter service only. Located on the deck at the mall by Mann's Chinese Theater on Hollywood Blvd. Their broth is very substantial and all the ingredients are fresh. Choose a broth, then a noodle, then a protein, then pile on the veggies, sauces and finishing oils. Andy, helped us make some great selections and is a fast and friendly counter man. Besides the outstanding Ramen, Andy made this a fun experience. Highly recommend.

The ramen is good, but overall I can't justify the price. It is fun to customize your ramen (but, let's face it, how many options are there? Most decent ramen is served with everything anyway...) but the portions are ridiculously small. $11.50 gets you half a dinner at best. The service was slooow. It took us about 15-20 minutes to get served with a line of 7 or so people ahead of us. We would get our ramen faster dining in. I had a coupon that was supposed to give me a complementary panna cotta. They do not carry panna cotta and let me know they would not offer any substitutes.

When there are more than 3 people in line, forget it, you'll be standing there for almost 10 minutes. That was really annoying. 1. You walk in, order and pay. 2. You then choose up to everything from the 1st section of condiments. 3. You then only pick 1 protein. 4. Then from the last condiment section, you are only allowed to pick 1. 5. Free water available at the end of the line. It sucked that I couldn't pick more than 1 condiments from the last section. It was basically vegetables, like corn, sprouts etc... I can't imagine had I wanted more toppings, going back to the register and paying extra, running my card twice... I didn't really understand why they had me pay first, before looking at the food, what if I wanted extra meat or toppings??!? Try the PokiNometry next door. Their line goes faster and for $15 bucks, you can get a large bowl of gimongous portion of fish on top of rice or salad or chips. Totally worth it.

Came here today with my friends because we are too lazy to drive to a different location to look for food. Figured EXPRESS ramen might be interesting to check out. Set up like build your own ramen Chipotle/PizzaRev style. Ok. No biggie. Shin Sen lets you put whatever toppings to customize your ramen so minor difference between standing and sitting down. First of, the portion is no where worth the price point. But I figured it's Hollywood so it makes sense. It'll be fine if it actually tastes good. Soup - pretty good. Taste like Tonkotsu ramen, a little stickier and heavier than I like but no problem there. The only problem I have with the broth is the fact that it is lukewarm. Lukewarm pork broth = to it being extra fatty to where the grease coats my lips and the inside of my mouth in quite the unpleasant way. Probably have something to do with only having one employee in the front of the store when there is a rush. Noodles - overcooked. The noodles are wayy too cooked which not surprising considering the broth is lukewarm. Toppings - the toppings are okay. I got the egg, bean sprouts, green onion, crispy garlic, ground garlic, and pork chasu. The chasu is mostly fat sliced super thin and since the broth was lukewarm, it was cold when I ate it like it came out of the fridge. Egg was cooked great, tasted great but it is again, cold. My friend got the buttered corn which she said makes her soup extra salty. Hers was lukewarm as well. We were starving so we just ate it all. It was fine for a quick meal, not worth the 14$/bowl I spent on it. Next time we should just check out the restaurants nearby. There are plenty to try around. Quite disappointed with the outcome.

The guys that work here are really great and have great customer service, one girl however was quite rude. The ramen is okay but it's pretty expensive for express ramen and they recently raised their prices and made add ons cost more. The ramen itself was tasty but I noticed it was also very greasy and fatty.

I love ramen. I love the richness and multiple flavors found in the broth. I love the chewy texture of thick noodles bouncing slightly back with each bite. I love how things like fried garlic can accentuate the flavor palate in both taste and smell. Those nuances all come together to create a satisfying bowl of ramen at JINYA, even if it feels like it shouldn't be as good. The first time I came here was for one of my business trips. My fellow co-guide was ranting about how great the place was. She described it as the Chipotle of ramen in the sense you get to customize down the line what you want. You order what kind of ramen you want (ramen with noodles, rice bowl, or salad), a broth, type of noodles, one protein, and one vegetable. It's jarring at first but once you try it you understand it. Now it's not as quick as a Chipotle. They have to cook your noodles to order as well as get the broth right. This takes a bit of time. But as you go down the line and start customizing you start seeing some great choices like the roasted Brussels sprouts, thick cut of chashu pork (traditional for ramen), or sukiyaki beef (for those who like a sweeter flavor to their savory). The combinations you create are what makes it so good. My favorite is to always order with a soft boiled egg, chashu pork, roasted Brussels sprouts on the side (so they don't get soggy from the broth), fried garlic, and a side order of their fried chicken which is just karaage (Japanese fried chicken usually eaten as an appetizer). On cold nights it hits the spot and for the voracious in hunger it fills you up. It leaves you with the same happiness as your stomach being hugged from the inside (metaphorically because literally would be gross). Though the Hollywood and Highland center might have some great food around and big name restaurants if you're looking for great food without a need for table service and long waits JINYA Express is what you want to eat.

I was a satisfied customer at this location. It's been years since my last Jinya Ramen visit at an older location. This little "express" comes as a convenience and was perfect for someone like myself who was short on time. I like this concept of build-your-own ramen. A couple of firsts came out of this experience. First time having kale noodles and I loved it. They have a picture of the noodles to show you that they keep next to the register when your order is being placed. First time seeing beef sukiyaki as a protein as opposed to chasu. Quick and easy. Would recommend, especially if you're in a hurry to catch a show at the Chinese Theater that's right around the corner on the same level.

By food court standards, Jinya Ramen Express is a good option. Nestled in the hustle and bustle of Hollywood Boulevard's shopping center - Jinya is a good option when you're in a pinch but also want to warm your insides with some ramen! You can either customize your own bowl of ramen or choose a bowl (with ingredients, broth, noodle size, etc.) listed on the menu. I chose to customize my own bowl because a) I'm a control freak and b) I wanted to get my money's worth and get all the fixings I desire. I just got that! I ordered a Tonkotsu Spicy Miso Ramen with Thick Noodles and Porch Chashu. I also added in a Soft Boiled Egg for $1 extra. If you want even more meat, that's also an extra $2. The way the bowl customization works is you first pick your base. Do you want the stanard Ramen bowl or did you want a Ramen Salad or Rice Bowl? Then you can choose your broth type and noodles! Fun foodie fact, they also have spinach noodles here too. I haven't personally tried this or even knew this was in existence - but HEY - that's pretty awesome. Then you get to go on full customization mode and choose your a) garnishes, b) protein, c) veggies, d) sauce, and e) extra toppings! Not going to bore you with specifics, but your girl got her money's worth and yes, my sauce was black garlic oil because I like to keep those vampires away. Overall, this place isn't amazing but we were served quickly and we were able to feel satisfied with our meal. I like the level of customization you receive. Portion-wise I wish that meat portions were more generous, but you take what you can get! I also feel like broth itself was really flavorful so I wasn't left disappointed - I really just wanted more! Leaves me wondering how "Jinya" is (because my assumption this is an actual sit-down place....? Idk because I am not local heh heh heh). tldr; Customizable ramen. Good food court option. Pretty affordable. Would dine again if I went to this shopping center.

Places like this are a little tough to judge... it's pretty decent food if you compare it to your average "food court" type place, but it falls short if you compare it to a decent ramen restaurant. I ordered the regular Tonkotsu, but Jinya Express is sort of set up like a Chipotle. You order a ramen or rice bowl and then once it's ready, you top it off with all the choices that you see in front of you, just like Chiptole. The ramen like I said was fairly decent... not terrific, but not terrible. They only give you one slice of pork and the portion is fairly small for the price. I ended up paying around $15 for my bowl and it wasn't very filling. The noodles were cooked nicely (then again, it would be shocking for someone to mess up cooking noodles), and the flavor of the broth was pretty good. Really rich and not excessively greasy... but like I said, my biggest complaint is the portion that they serve for the price you pay.

This is a hidden gem of Hollywood Blvd. It is a very small shop tucked in one of the corners of Hollywood & Highland mall. You have 2 choices here. You can build your own ramen bowl to however you want possible or you can order one of their signature ramen bowls (which by the way, you can still change the way you want). I decided to go with JINYA Tonkotsu Black from their signature bowl. It was a little bit on the spicy side but was surprisingly good for a quick bowl of ramen. The bowl was so enjoyable that every bite I took got me going. Though they don't have dedicated tables for this ramen spot (you just pick whatever available tables around the area), there is this bar table where it is overlooking the Hollywood Blvd. Overall, I really enjoyed my ramen bowl from JINYA. What more can you ask for when you get a really good bowl ramen and nice spot to enjoy it? If you're in town and just looking for a quick fix of ramen, JINYA is the spot for you.

Bruh. This place is hot on the tails of 'have it your way' (thank you Burger King) as in the build your own custom bowl. We chose this over the poke place next door because we were pretty curious. You choose your broth and noodle thickness (Ryan and I both chose thicc noodles) and then he chose spicy chicken broth and I chose creamy vegan. The broth was so good. Just the right amount of heat and just the right temperature. I added a seasoned soft boiled egg, steamed tofu, Brussel sprouts, green onion, cilantro, crunchy garlic, and garlic oil (I was staving off the vampires obviously) and holy HECK. This was a great decision. The Brussel sprouts were roasted and complimented the ramen so perfectly. Soft boiled egg was actually soft boiled and added a richness to the broth. Overall a great bowl of ramen. I was super impressed. It's basically a Subway for ramen.

Ramen express??? Build your own ramen?? At first, I didn't give much of the hope of this place. They only give 1 slice of protein(Chashu). If you want 1 more slice it costs around $2 or more. But, I really really love their ramen, the noodles is really great, the broth is not too salty or oily. Overall, the food really delicious

I had spicy ramen #1 and it was really good with just the right amount of spice. You could choose your own ingredients to customize your ramen and everything looked very fresh. My only complaint was the wait. Only one lady was working doing both the cashiering and making the ramen and the line was getting very long. They really needed more staff for an "express" restaurant. The location is upstairs overlooking Hollywood Blvd. with amazing views. I would recommend trying this out when in the area.

Tasty but lacking sufficient portion sizes for takeout. Love the ability to build your own ramen, and make it vegan. And is much cheaper than the normal Jinyas. But unfortunately, they never give enough broth for delivery. Today it didn't even fill an inch of my ramen bowl. Guess I'm going to eat my toppings and ramen noodles dry. I also noticed most of the normal Jinya locations around LA also skimp on the broth for takeout, makes no sense. Just give me enough soup for my soup. Thanks.

The concept for this place is really cool. You can make your own ramen, in a sense, by personalizing it (like Subway). I got the tonkotsu broth with marinated chicken, spinach noodles, Brussels sprouts, baby tomatoes, egg (soft boiled), kikurage (mushroom). I topped that off with sesame seeds and black garlic oil. The broth was pretty watery and the flavor of the tonkotsu was a bit muted. The Brussels sprouts were surprisingly perfect and went well with the ramen. The spinach noodles were delicious. I wish they added more black garlic oil. Overall I don't know if I would come back for the ramen but I must say our eating view was great.

Well this is a new concept isn't it ... Think the Subway for Sandwiches, Chipotle for Burritos, Pizza Rev for Pizza... Now we got Jinya Ramen EXPRESS for Ramen... I was a bit skeptical that it would taste as good as the sit-down restaurants, but it's really not that bad at all! It's quick, CHEAP ($10) and I like the concept of building your own bowl. I also really like their spinach noodles! You don't HAVE to get ramen here, they do rice bowls and salads too, but I WOULD suggest getting a ramen bowl... I was surprised that I wasn't disappointed in my bowl. Maybe I expected an UBER low quality because of the "EXPRESS", but I like how quick and effective this place was. I would come here again and I hope it pops up in more convenient locations around Los Angeles. The noodles I had were cooked at al dente and great texture and I can't complain about the toppings or the tonkotsu broth. I WILL say my one complaint is that they only let you choose ONE vegetable option, and that the MEATS aren't very good but what do you expect in a food court?

I'm so excited that another LA ramen shop serves vegan broth! I've been in heart with vegan broth ever since discovering the delicious plant-based ramen at Ramen Hood in Grand Central Market. That place, however, is only open from 11am-3:30pm each day so I can never have it for dinner unfortunately. Now I know I can get a very similar broth from JINYA! I asked what it was made of and was told it was from mushroom and seaweed. It was on the creamy side and was absolutely delicious! Although I am not vegan, I really love plant-based broth because it is tasty without being heavy or oily. I can eat a whole bowl and not get a bellyache that I normally get with pork-based broth. This JINYA Express is the fast food of the real JINYA, as you add ingredients conveyor style like you're at Subway or Chipotle. Yet, the quality was very good even for a food court ramen and the temperature of the noodles and soup was right on. I also liked the outdoor patio seating looking down below on all the Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame action. For $9.50 you can customize your own bowl: --thin, thick or spinach noodles (I loved my chewy thick noodles) --one protein (mabo tofu, char siu pork slices, grilled chicken, pork soboro, beef or even karaage chicken). My only complaint is that the karaage is sitting out and it gets chewy and then soggy once it's placed in your bowl. Definitely better to order karaage from a non-fast food place where they make it to order. They gave me four large battered pieces of chicken, wow! --one vegetable (spicy bean sprouts which aren't actually hot, roasted brussels, or buttered corn) --unlimited garnishes (green onion, onion, kikurage, cilantro, halved grape tomatoes, jalapeno) --add sauce (I picked black garlic oil) --choice of toppings (red pickled ginger, crispy fried garlic bits, sesame and/or fresh garlic) You can also get a cold ramen version for $9.50 as well. I recommend adding a soft-boiled egg for $1. Mine was absolutely perfectly cooked! Nice and jelly-like inside. My friend ordered the #1 Jinya Tonkotsu Black Garlic Oil Ramen, which had traditional tonkotsu pork broth and came with preset ingredients. He said it was decent but thought the price was a little high for fast food ramen, whereas you could go to a full restaurant and get ramen for the same price. One thing that is annoying at this location is that the people behind the counter can't hear you so you have to repeat yourself multiple times, which I did (and my order still came up wrong!). That's because the food court blasts loud music and it's also dead center on Hollywood Boulevard where there is a lot of activity immediately below.

This has to be the worst JINYA Ramen in the company. I DO NOT recommend going there because the food is a disappointment, the staff is slow/disrespectful, and the price is not worth the value. The word "Express" means a lot. Please note: the quality is bad/undercook and timing is horrible (not fast, just completely slow). You would think something would work in their favor, SMH. The food is sloppy thrown together, the staff doesn't hear when you're talking, and they spend about 5 minutes weighting the rice. It's ridiculous watching them put rice in a bowl, then lift the bowl to reconfigure the scale, then take rice out the bowl, then put rice back in the bowl, then finally take 3 grans of rice out the bowl, then lifting the bowl to reconfigure the scale AGAIN. It's a vicious cycle that take about 5 minutes to complete. Let me give you a better insight of my experience. I went to JINYA Ramen on a Sunday and it was obviously slow; because I was the only person in-line and their tablets didn't have any orders. There was only on person operating the front/register and it took this person about a minute or two acknowledge me; which was odd because they wasn't doing anything. After finally getting some attention, I ordered a BYO Rice Bowl and was told to wait outside until my name was called. Why am I waiting outside if I was the only order.... 'I don't Know.' However, outside I witness the ridiculous rice in bowl cycle until my name was called. I also noticed that sauce is added to the rice without asking. This person then told me to choose 4 from the first 6. I begin to tell them the 3 I want, but they put 2 options i didn't ask for in the bowl sloppy. I just continue like nothing happen. I was then ask if I want the Pork blah blah, I made sure they heard me say "No, I don't eat Pork"; but as you can imagine they put a little in my bowl. I stopped the entire thing and ask them to remove that little they put in. I was then told I could get two veggies. We then proceeded and I ordered the grill chicken. I was then asked what veggie I would like, I said the "spicy bean sprouts and the brussels sprouts." She then yelled "NO!!!", "You only get one veggie." I said, "You just said I can have two." It took her a minute to realized and then finally throw my veggies in the bowl. I then made it simple and just order black garlic, chili oil and sriracha. Mind you, during this entire interaction, I was the only person at JINYA and the music was not loud at all; so I am a little confused on the rudeness or not being able to hear me. I understand that the Pandemic changed a lot of things but this was not a good change. Raw chicken, undercook brussel sprouts and more. I have been to this JINYA Ramen Express (blah, blah) prior and some notable differences are the grill chicken has decrease in size and you only get a few pieces (less, of course), as well as the containers are smaller, the sides have decreased as well (meaning $3.50 for 2 piece of fried chicken smaller than McDonalds chicken nuggets), but the price increased.

It's not your best ramen, but by food court standard in a mall, you're definitely getting a treat. The hole-in-the-wall doesn't offer any seating, but there are plenty of open-air seating outside in the corridor. The portion size is small, but the broth is the best part of the ramen (as it should be). It does take a while to prepare the ramen you ordered, even if you order it straight from the menu. Be prepared to wait at least 10 minutes.
