Jip - Review - 11th Arr. - Paris - The Infatuation

"The beloved Korean chef behind popular pop-up gigs in the city has finally landed his first solo restaurant in the 11th arrondissement. At Jip (home, in Korean), you’ll find a generous three-course menu for only €35, half of which is vegetarian. Fewer than eight people can fit at the marble counter, and only a handful more at tightly packed tables. But everyone can watch the chef turn out dishes like fish sashimi on radicchio leaves with a fermented plum gochujang sauce, dumplings filled with mushroom duxelle and sweet potato, and jjajangmyeon noodles, sweet and nutty with beef and anchovied spinach. Skip the single dessert on the menu (usually something fruity at an extra €8) and order a noodle “refill” or another glass of natural wine." - Lindsey Tramuta

Everything was great. They have both a regular and a vegetarian menu. I went for the veggie one, and it was tasty, wholesome, and satisfying. The food is Korean at heart, prepared with French cooking techniques, so it looks beautiful and feels elevated without being too fancy. One dish that stood out was my friend’s squid ink noodles. It arrived as a colorful bowl with eight neatly arranged ingredients. After mixing, the whole bowl turned black, and each bite became a surprise since you couldn’t see what you were eating. My friend thought it was clever and fun. The wine was perfect. The chef explained everything in both French and English. The vibe was cute and cozy, and the waiter was very attentive. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something a little different, creative, and welcoming.

Tiny restaurant with a wonderful set-price/prix fixe menu (35€ for three courses, which ends with a homemade noodle dish) plus little options to add on. Wonderful wine/beverage list. Such care and thought put into each dish. Korean at base, but with a contemporary twist. Each dish surprised and delighted. The staff is caring. It's very loud because of the small size, but so worth it. I'd go back once a month just to see what they're doing with seasonal ingredients and their creativity and skill. In July, the menu was bursting with the juiciest red tomatoes, herbs, a cold noodle dish with green tomatoes. Then strawberry sorbet for dessert. Mostly vegetarian/pescatarian. No meat on the menu the night we were there, and I was so glad!

Outstanding dining experience. Modern, savory Korean influence dishes served in a small welcoming environment. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Booking is recommended and do so well in advance: the restaurant is tiny.

An absolute masterpiece from Esu Lee; I’m so excited for the success of it. And I can’t believe the price point for the quality and quantity of the prix fixe menu. We were lucky enough to get the one bar seat so we could watch the kitchen magic - everything is done with so much care and intention. The flavors are absolutely unreal — I’m still dreaming of the cold noodles and the dumplings. If you can get a table, you will absolutely not be disappointed. A sleeper is the strawberry sorbet!! It’s INSANE?! Perfect perfect meal.

Superb assortment of fusion french korean dishes. The set menu is really good value for 35 euros and was delicious. Highly recommend getting the prawn toast and the sashimi. The strawberry cheese sorbet was a lovely addition too. Make sure to reserve a spot since this place books out quickly. Overall would say this is a repeatable spot!

The food is out of the world. Modern, refined and extraordinary. It’s a tiny place but the service is rapid and warm. Can’t wait to go back and eat again !

Incredible concept, execution and vibe here from chef and team at Jip. This small space only has a few tables but they set the pacing perfectly for an hour and half meal. The starters were standout for us with the prawn tasting like the most elevated fish stick you have ever had, the best Sashimi, and sweet potato dumplings were excellent. Wish we could order more! Only advice for ordering is to think twice on if you like squid ink, definitely takes over the dish and turns everything black!

Great food, great staff, great moment. Really liked the way the menu is structured, starting with a very minimalist starter or amuse bouche, then moving to a more complex plate - complex flavors and that required several preparations and finishing with a confort food style plate of goodness. Yummy! 🤤
