"Jiu Hao Can Ting, the San Gabriel Valley’s latest newcomer, invites diners to select dishes from a buffet of options. Every dish is priced at $9.99 per pound, including proteins (fried shrimp, pork ribs), dim sum (chicken feet, steamed pork buns), vegetables (loofa and tomatoes with egg), and more. Selections are weighed to determine the total cost, with soup and rice included with every meal." - Cathy Chaplin

Appetizers Central!!! $9.99 per lb of Chinese Fast Food in Monterey Park. They have a pretty good variety of appetizers....but I'm okay on everything else. Not your typical Shau May (original OG local Chinese fast food/Arcadia). This place has a different taste and lighter which is nice. Its comes with rice and soup. Don't pick the super overly starched egg corn soup. We got lucky with parallel street parking. So I guess if we do come back again, it'll probably be for 1. Takeout of their appetizers for home, or a pot luck situation. They have pretty good variety of appetizers. 2. If looking for cheap comfort meal for particular items. I guess veggies cost alot now, so maybe a whole plate of a different veggies could be worth it. 3. Single dining or take out for affordability. Takes credit card. Grab your soup on your own. They will hand you the rice. There's just so much food in the area. Great concept. I wish Hsiu Hsiu Shau May Arcadia would do that. If this place's quality increases or just focus of particular dishes then I'll come back. Or else I'll just be back to buy a variety of appetizers.

What the fish sushi Since 2014

Very flavorful Chinese buffet . Parking in the back . Only open one month .

Ordered via TooGoodToGo and found the box being mostly white rice. If you don’t mind getting that with a side of bitter veggies, go for it. Better value elsewhere at retail pricing.

Jiu Hao Can Ting is a delightful culinary gem that offers a wonderful blend of authentic flavors and a cozy atmosphere. The menu features a wide array of dishes that showcase traditional recipes with a modern twist, making it a fantastic spot for both adventurous eaters and those looking for comfort food. Overall, Jiu Hao Can Ting exceeded my expectations, and I can’t wait to return for another memorable meal! Highly recommend!!!!!

After finishing my business at the American Bank, I noticed a new restaurant across the street and decided to give it a try. I ordered some food, including meat, fish, and vegetables. Everything looked so fresh and appetizing that I will definitely choose this restaurant again when I need to visit the American Bank for business in the future.

有点超出预期,所有的菜都没踩雷,凉菜特别好吃。一下子可以吃到很多菜色,简直就是完美饭堂。

Yelp
It looks like a Chinese buffet, but it is a pay-by-the-pound restaurant. The selection is decent, and the quality is better than I expected. The soup and rice are included in the price of the meal. You can dine in or take out. I will be back soon. Warning: Most signs and labels are Chinese and staff have limited English skills.

Yelp
I cannot speak much to the interior, as I ordered for takeout. The food is average, but when you're looking for something fast, quick and super convenient, this is a no brainer. I loved the minced pork patty, and mushroom stirfry! Their chowmein could definitely be better, but overall, I'd come back for something quick!

Yelp
This place is set up like a mini buffet and everything is placed into styrofoam "to go" boxes to be weighed and paid for at $9.99 per lb. There is a large selection of beef, pork, chicken and some seafood (fish, shrimp, and some squid). The chicken wings were ok, as were the meatballs. That being said, it was cool in M P today and was cool inside this restaurant. And the food was slightly above room temperature. Service? What is that? They did not tell us that soup was included and both of our plates were more than one pound. They would not have been put out too much to inform my wife who is fluent in Mandarin. Ambiance- walk into the restaurant and there is a huge garbage bag sticking out of the trash cabinet thing to the left of the door. Welcome to? Not a good look but you gotta understand to dispose of all those foam boxes takes up a lot of volume. Anyhow this is a one time thing for us, we will not be back. Oh, and I forgot to mention how inappropriate that this place has solicitations for tips, on the tablet when you pay by card and a jar for cash.

We got lucky with front parallel parking.

Yelp
I've to this place multiple times last year since it opened. Came here today and was not disappointed. This is the one of the best bang for your buck places to eat for lunch! I got my usual food items (their delicious meatballs, pork stomach, pork ears, octopus, squid, braised/stir fried pork belly. This is a self serve buffet style restaurant and so many authentic Chinese dishes to choose from. The cashiers at the front are very nice and have rice ready to scoop for you. You can even ask for a seconds for rice! You'll need to ask for water but they'll happily provide a water container for your table with cups. And the inside of the restaurant is pretty spacious, lots of seating. I also appreciate how they provide disposable gloves for eating and also getting the food. This place is really authentic and I hope they are able to stay in business for a long time!

Yelp
We were referred to this place by someone who I consider as being a foodie. He told us not to get our hopes up too high, since the food is inexpensive. It was only $9.99 per pound minus a 15 percent discount as their grand opening promotion. I believe the employee stated that the rice and soup were free of charge. There were numerous options, but I ended up asking them what some of the dishes were since some of them were not translated to English. I was happy with my battered fried fish. My husband was happy with his fried salt and pepper shrimp. We were unhappy with the temperature of the food. We tried numerous dishes, but they weren't dishes we would recommend. The employees were very friendly and helpful. The place was very clean. It was nice that they provided disposable gloves for their buffet.

Yelp
Great place if you want to grab your own amount of food depending on how you feel. I love the mini squid, meatballs, bok choy, bun, eggplant, chicken, seaweed, etc. There are more selections, about 40 items that are fresh and cooked already. They charge $9.99 a pound which is fair to me. And they give complimentary rice and soup. There is also lots of seating in the place. I liked the atmosphere. Hope they get more customers and get noticed!!

Yelp
This pioneering Monterey Park Chinese restaurant storefront from 45 years ago is once again home to Chinese food, Jiu Hao Can Ting. Concept is something I've seen a few other places, but not the San Gabriel Valley--serve yourself, but pay by the pound. Kind of like a buffet, but not all you can eat. Food here is excellent, but the selection skews different from Chinese buffets in the area, which target a combination of Chinese and non-Chinese diners. $9.99 a pound, with an introductory discount. There won't be many non-Chinese diners eating here.

Yelp
Nice pay-by-the-weight buffet place with many favorite chinese dishes that you can often find on a dine-in chinese restaurant or maybe at your friends house, but you won't find on chinese fast food place. The pricing reflects the quality and portion. They have many options, there bound to be one dish that will satisfy you. As with most buffet fried items, especially seafood, sometimes it can be too oily or slightly fishy, but the stir-fry and their braised selection is pretty nice.

Yelp
This place took over Q Bedding, so husband and I checked out this place out of curiosity. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise! We were welcomed and greeted warmly by the two ladies at the counter near the entrance. I was confused by the term "buffet" on their banner; I think what they really meant was "all you can pack/all you can choose" etc. You fill up the paper-based container with whatever food you like and then they would weigh the food and charge based on that. Rice and soup are already included they are not calculated extra in your cost. I like this concept because I had more choices on my food options than the traditional "2-entrees" or "3-entrees" methods while not having to waste food. We ended up paying around $21 for our family of 3. Food turned out to be quite good. My husband said the soup was surprisingly good and the food was even better than some full service restaurants it there. I agree with him too. They tasted more well made than other "Chinese fast food" places. It's been a few hours since the meal and I am happy to report that I didn't experience any tummy troubles and MSG after-effects.

Yelp
I've been here twice at Jiu Hao Can Ting. They offer steam tray Chinese food at a reasonable $9.99 per pound, and the deal includes both soup and rice. Among their variety of dishes, my favorites are the marinated pig ear, lion's head meatball, and their delicious beef brisket with turnip. You get two soup options to choose from. The one time I was there they had a seaweed egg drop soup and a vegetable soup. Enter the restaurant, put on your gloves and pick a box to put your items in. When you're all done, head over to the cashier to weigh your food. If it's over 1 pound of food, you'll get your rice and soup for free. I usually make sure I have at least a pound of food before I get the soup. Each item is flavorful and well-prepared albeit not piping hot, making it hard to pick just one favorite. If you're looking for a place where you can get a bit of everything and enjoy a variety of Chinese cuisine, Jiu Hao Can Ting is definitely the place to go. Street parking is available on Garvey.

Yelp
Everything was very salty. The pork stomach was salty and the soup was very salty. Not a fan.

Yelp
Pros: There are a lot of choices and the dishes are not what you would typically find at a Chinese buffet. You can also select as much or as little of anything you want. Cons: The 番茄炒蛋 is made with ketchup. $9.99/lb. is non-Chinese tourist prices. There are better values at the Chinese cafeterias in SGV that offer a 1, 2, 3, 4 item combo set. My wife picked skimpy portions compared to what we get at other places and it was something like $14. They solicit tips on credit card transactions.

Yelp
Awsome Chinese traditional food you must try ...very addictive taste buds... And try the unconventional foods.

Yelp
Saw they had just opened up in our neighborhood so we decided to stop in for lunch. Very clean, and fresh inside! Staff was super helpful in explaining and suggesting dishes to try. Similar in offerings to places like Kang Kang but I love that you pay by weight! Meaning you can have a wide variety of dishes for your meal and only pay for what you grab to eat. Perfect for big and small eaters alike. Also it's served with rice and soup which is included in the price! Soup was very good. So many yummy veggie and meat options to choose from. Their introductory special is a great deal right now so definitely come check them out!

David G.

Yelp
Came here for lunch when the family. Pretty straightforward-- pay by weight. Rice and soup seems to be based on dollar amount. So, since our food selections totaled $33, we received three rices and three soups. Service was friendly. The buffet had a lot of strong options, and flavor was good. The restaurant itself is clean and looks good. If you are in the MPK area then this is a great option, especially since you can pick and choose much more so than places like Kang Kang.

Yelp
Unsafe food temps low quality food you shouldn't waste your time I think it's hilarious for a entirely self service spot they have tip options also

Yelp

Yelp
I was walking to the vape store and stop by for lunch. Food was very good and price was pretty cheap. The ladies there were very nice. Place was clean and updated. I will definitely go back.
