My husband and I normally go to this restaurant but today I had to order delivery. I was a little nervous, but oh my gosh, it was so good. I love how they packaged the meal the fact that it didn’t spill everything was nicely contained and prepared the fried rice is excellent orange chicken is amazing and above all the egg drop soup is my favorite I can’t forget about the eggrolls. I appreciate having a little hole in the wall and support a small business! Thank you JJ’s you exceeded my expectations.

Google
I got the chow mein w/ veggies, pork steamed dumplings, chicken fried rice and egg rolls through their website. To start with the chow mein did have a lot of veggies which may be good if that’s your style idm it but the actual noodles tasted amazing. As for the pork dumplings the initial taste is really good but the after taste is a little weird. The fried rice tasted amazing it reminded me of my childhood! However there was no seasoning on the chicken and they were a little too big chopped slices. Last but not least the egg rolls, they were really good nothing spectacular but it was good. All in all this I have 3 stars cuz it had some good and some bad but i will definitely be going back again!

Google
When I went into JJ I was expecting this to be alike a average Chinese food location however I was completely wrong and im not disappointed but definitely surprised. So when I went in I had ordered a chicken chow mein lunch special which gives you the main entree, fried rice, a mini veggie roll, as well as a can of pop. I was actually happy with the taste of the chicken chow mein and the noodles were extremely fresh however the rice had almost no flavor but was cooked to perfection it just lacked seasoning. As for the veggie roll they added seasoning in it and it was cooked perfectly but when I say the give you a mini roll it's quite small. Overall this place is quite tasty and the options are not limited however I would recommend you get only the entree and not the lunch special so you can get a little more.

Google
Great food, fast delivery and not too expensive. I have ordered 3 times from there already and will continue to. I spent 40 years eating Chinese food on the east coast where I was born and raised and it’s pretty close to that in my opinion.

Thomas McCall

Google
Such an amazing hole in the wall Chinese restaurant! The food is fresh, cooked well, and the ladies are so pleasant to work with! Only 4 stars for atmosphere because you gotta take and go. Nowhere to eat. And that's totally fine!

Griffin A

Google
Pretty good, exactly how I expected it to taste. Came a little late on DoorDash but was still piping hot. General Tso chicken taste like bland orange chicken but it was still somewhat tasty. The fried rice was great and the bao buns were a little wet but still delicious. Won ton soup was full of fresh vegetables but the broth lacked taste. I’m still giving them 4 stars because everything was really cheap and this place is a great bang for your buck. Would I go back, probably not but it served it’s purpose.

Brittani Bivins-Staley

Google
I love Chinese food but this was not at all what I expected. Why is my fried rice orange like Spanish rice? And the peppered steak and onions has no flavor at all. The wonton soup is also bland. The service was fast and the staff was nice but the quality of food is not where it should be at all.

Richard Gregorio

Google
The food is ok I’m from Philadelphia where the Chinese food is crazy if you know what I mean. There rice was bland, they were super nice. The orange chicken was aight.

Yelp
I grew up over a Chinese restaurant in New York City. I know my Chinese food. This is absolutely the best in Long Beach, it's only a little hole in the wall with take out but everything is delicious. Try something different and you will be delighted... We discovered the fried tofu with honey garlic sauce and it is amazing. Great appetizers and entrées overall, these ladies know how to cook!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing delicious food! Gonna go back Gonna exercise more and eat this daily! Every day

Yelp
Great selection, delicious hot food, and service. JJ is another LB Hitter. I appreciate how you can order half portions. This is such a great value!

Yelp
Great food quality and price is very fair let's just say since I found you guys I longer go to Panda Express...love to support local small business that puts out quality food

Yelp
Love this place. My kids can be very picky, but this is the only Chinese food they want. I like to think of them as 'My Friend', because the staff and owner are very gracious and hard working. It is mainly a To-Go service and parking is almost always available. They also take good care at making sure the order is correct. Can't say enough about JJ's.

Yelp
Love this place! I used to order delivery from here when I stayed near downtown LB. You gotta get delivery for certain places when living close to downtown, am I right people? (IYKYK) And it has gotten better since the last time I had it. I was craving something from here but could not figure out what until I went through the lunch menu... it was the honey garlic chicken. Yums. I ordered the honey garlic chicken, beef and broccoli and green beans in brown sauce all from the lunch menu. $30 with tip. The lunch options come with an egg roll, choice of white or fried rice and the choice of soup or a soda. Nothing disappointed. Everything on point. They upgraded their fried rice, very nice. The only thing I wish was that they were closer to my current place.

Pat R.

Yelp
This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Long Beach. It's takeout only but their prices cannot be matched. The quality of the food is wonderful. I've never had anything bad from there.

Yelp
A friend told me about JJ's Chinese Food, and I'm so glad they did. This is my third time visiting, and the food never disappoints. Whether ordering through DoorDash for pick-up or calling in, the process is always easy and convenient. The prices are unbeatable, and the customer service is consistently top-notch. I attached a photo below look at all this delicious food for just $30! While parking can be a bit tricky sometimes, everything else is a perfect 10 out of 10. Highly recommend JJ's Chinese Food for anyone looking for great Chinese food and exceptional service! I had their garlic fried chicken wings last time and Man oh man they were delicious. Packing flavor inside and out. This place is takeout only.

Rhonda S.

Yelp
The cream cheese wontons are great. The sweet and sour chicken in the combo was edible. However, the chow mein I got was not good at all. The veggies were overcooked and bland, but the food was delivered piping hot. I'm realizing I'm not a fan of yellow fried rice.

R E.

Yelp
Food is great here. I used the BeyondMenu app, great prices and delivery... Not sure what else to tell ya
google avatar

Ariah L.

Yelp
I picked up a half order of orange chicken with fried rice yesterday evening. Everything was fresh and hot! It's a generous amount of food as I wasn't able to finish everything. Service was quick and my food was ready in 10 minutes. The staff are friendly too. The business is located in a shopping plaza which can get pretty busy. Two other people came after me and their orders were to go as well.
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
Food is cooked to order so you're getting freshly made food besides the soups. I liked knowing it was fresh but flavors are lacking. Portions are large. Being open late is a plus.
google avatar

Marc B.

Yelp
I didn't realize how much you get. Ended up with way too much food. I really enjoyed the vegetable chow mein and orange chicken. The sweet n sour pork, not so much. Overall very generous portion sizes. Not sure where this ranks on best Chinese takeout in Long Beach. It was good. Next time I would definitely skip the sweet n sour pork. It's also a bummer they don't serve teriyaki chicken, which is a go to for me when ordering Chinese takeout out. But they have a vast set of items to choose from regardless.

Yelp
First time trying and made an order online for delivery. The DoorDash experience itself was a nightmare but had nothing to do with the restaurant I give them one star for portions and one star for service because the lady on the phone was helpful when I called to see why the driver canceled my order I ordered 5 dishes total and out of everything the only thing I would ever eat again from here would be the hot and sour soup. THAT was phenomenal First off EVERYTHING was bland. I appreciate that no salt was used for health reasons but there was absolutely no flavor on any of the food. I had to doctor everything up with my own soy and oyster sauce at home Beef and broccoli- watery and flavorless Shrimp lo shrimp and shrimp fried rice - soggy and flavorless. They do provide a decent amount of medium sized shrimp Lemon chicken - dry, flavorless. Sauce on the side was very thin, watery and had a bitter aftertaste Steamed pot stickers - rubbery, chicken did not taste good. $67 later and I ended up wasting so much food

Yelp
Food is good 9/10, great portions for the price. Service is good. Ambiance is fair, the store is small and mostly for to go

Brett K.

Yelp
JJ Chinese Express has remained dependable throughout all of the bullshit going in this world. They don't change their hours, they are always nice, fast and helpful, and their prices are so close to what they were 7 years ago when i started going there that it seems impossible. You can order online for your convenience and parking is easy and free, but an in person order never takes long and cuts out the fees of their middle men. The restaurant is everything you want in your Chinese takeout: clean and sparsely furnished, this food is to GO, and the screen door is my personal favorite part of the overall ambiance. What it comes down to is the food: Each item is prepared fresh to order. They are definitely not scooping day old chicken out of a tray for you. The flavor is incredible and everything I have ever ordered is a hit. A major standout is the greatest of all time honey garlic chicken, and my go to orders are the Singapore mei fun and bbq pork sliced appetizer(pictures included). The portions are huge and any time i order from JJ i will have 2-3 days worth of leftovers. They're only closed on Tuesdays, but they're the best Chinese food in Long Beach 7 days a week.
google avatar

Jose E.

Yelp
The food looked and tasted great but my girlfriend and I got sick off of it the next day.
google avatar

Chad K.

Yelp
Not a bad spot. Food was made to order, so I had to wait about 10 min, which I am totally cool with for fresh food. Mixed chow mein with shrimp, chicken and beef was just ok. Nothing I would drive out to order again, but got the job done. I saw a lot of people coming in and out for take out orders and Door Dash, so they are doing something right. I think I just prefer the steam tray Chinese fast food experience, so I will stick with my China Wok Express.

Yelp
Found this little gem on Yelp today 10/16/23. I called to order a pickup and was told it'd take 15 min. I ordered the lunch portion Honey Garlic Chicken. I had my choice of fried or white rice, an egg roll and soup or soda. I selected the fried rice and wonton soup. I also ordered Honey walnut shrimp and it came with white rice. My total billl was about $26. The wonton soup was delicious and almost soothing. I didn't finish my lunch but it's just as tasty. Can't wait to get to my honey walnut shrimp. I will be back. You better go try it.

Yelp
Unbelievable large portions, food is fabulous and it costs $8. You cannot go wrong here for lunch because mostly menus is $6 to $8 .

Yelp
This place tastes like good memories . No frills good food made to order. Had the sweet and sour pork- please never close.
google avatar

Yelp
VERY impressed with the flavors here! It's definitely "classic" Chinese-American comfort food, but everything is tasty, and just as good (or better) than other restaurants that'd charge double! This will be my new go-to. I only tried veggie items, and the orange flavor tofu and tofu with eggplant were standout dishes! Hands down the best treatment of tofu by a Chinese restaurant around. And I love how many options they have. I'll slowly be making my way down the menu and trying each of the tofu dishes! I also got the veggie mu shu (the wraps were HIGH QUALITY), veggie chow mein (great), and honey garlic tofu (light and tasty, but I'd probably stick to the other tofu items next time since they were packed with so much flavor). Also didn't know that everything came with white rice and received a huge portion. Can't wait to try more on the menu!
google avatar

Dillon M.

Yelp
Your classic Chinese food shop. Their portion size for take out is really respectable. A meal and soup was able to last a couple meals with my wife and I.
google avatar

Tanya W.

Yelp
Tasty! Great portion sizes and so speedy. We had hot and sour soup, chow mein, fried rice, orange chicken and beef and broccoli. It was soo good. And way too much food for two people. We had it for dinner Friday night and for lunch on Saturday and Sunday and there is still a lot left.
google avatar

Rouwayda F.

Yelp
They have amazing food! I've never gotten anything I didn't like! They are extremely nice!

B J.

Yelp
JJ Chinese Express is where it's at! I've ordered takeout from here several times and it's always hot and delicious. I also love that they take care to package cold beverages separately from the rest of the food to ensure the temperature of everything is perfect upon delivery. I've never physically been to their store, so I can't speak about the ambiance, but believe me when I say it's worth it to give them your business. I will order from this place again and again.

Yelp
Loved this place. Good price and good food and super fast. Way better than panda esp after the recession. The last plate I got at panda was embarrassing w 2 tiny pieces in their beef and broccoli (even my 5 yr old said this). The prices of nomad or Chen's or others do not make up for their quality or taste. We had the lunch specials: -pork lo mein -general Tso -sweet and slice chicken -Mongolian beef. Each came w wonton soup or a drink or other choice and rice for like $7 My fav Chinese spot from now on. Reminds me of east coast. The only thing I miss from east coast is more wontons and east coast style egg rolls. I do like Chinese pizza too. Ty for filling my tummy at a good price :) I got deliver via door dash which had a coupon which paid for tip :)

James D.

Yelp
What's more is there to say? Food is consistently fire, prices are super reasonable for the area, and the staff are always friendly. Only downside is that there's no tables to eat inside.
google avatar

Marcus M.

Yelp
Ordered for delivery. Good chinese food in the LB/LA area. Not quite on PFChangs level but definitely hits the spot for your chinese food craving at a good price. Thank you JJ Chinese Express. Will be eating at your business again soon
google avatar

Helen K.

Yelp
Ordered the General Tso's chicken with fried rice and sprite for $8~ around lunch time. You can't really beat that price for what you get. It was your standard typical Chinese food but the portion size was good and it was yummy!
google avatar

Es C.

Yelp
Their spicy chicken wings are still one of the best even better than what you find in the 626! Although the breading is THICC it's still so crispy and bomb for the price too! The Americanized Chinese food has gotten better and I would say their hot and sour soup is exactly one of the best and reminded me of the hot and sour soup from my local childhood restaurant. Well balanced and tangy!

Luke L.

Yelp
I love their food, their polite staff, their prices, and everything. Their food tastes so great and the price is not too expensive, its just right. I eat there food almost every day!

Fred F.

Yelp
I saw a review that they were closed - I called, they are OPEN! I am so relieved, this is the best Chinese food in Long Beach!
google avatar

S W.

Yelp
This is an unassuming Chinese place in a strip mall but the food is top notch. We don't eat meat and ordered the tofu vegetable lunch special and the eggplant with spicy sauce. The portions are big and the lunch special comes with a soda, fortune cookie and veggie egg roll. Our tummies are happy. This is our favorite Chinese fast food in Long Beach. :)
google avatar

Audrey B.

Yelp
The service was good, a lot of food for a cheap price but food was bland and flavorless
google avatar

Shane D.

Yelp
sometimes, I just crave a basic sesame chicken and it's been weirdly hard to find in Long Beach, where there's so many other kinds of great food in abundance. It appears to be a family operation, they closed for a few weeks for summer vacation (I'm honestly kind of into that, good for them). Everything's made fresh, no chafing dishes. I will say that I didn't care for the fried rice, maybe I'll see if they have noodle options next time.
google avatar

Samantha V.

Yelp
Hit that spot for your basic American chinese craving of Broccoli and chicken and sweet and sour chicken-Happy to have found my go to spot in LB now! Dinner portions are generous @ $10 for a large comes with a shared container of white rice. Parking is a smaller shared lot, busy during dinner time but great for a quick in and out takeout. Fortune cookies are a must- will def be back when that craving hits.
google avatar

Yelp
JJ's is pretty much your quintessential Chinese takeout joint for those living in the neighborhoods near Redondo and Anaheim. With an extensive menu with all the classics, if you're craving some fresh and steaming hot American-style Chinese food, this spot has you covered. Their food pretty much comes in two sizes -- half and full. The full-sized serving is substantial, with a lot of food for the cost. They're generous with vegetables, often incorporating them and stretching some of the dishes further and adding some freshness to their dishes. Our family often goes for the pork fried rice (ask for some Chinese mustard for bonus points and some sinus-clearing action), vegetable chow mein (greasy noodly goodness), General Tso's chicken (sooooo good), and Szechuan beef (spicy with tons of veggies). Everything we've tried has been delicious though. If you've read this far, I hope you check them out!
google avatar

Zack W.

Yelp
Nothing was bad, everything was decent. Singapore noodles didn't have that much flavor but had a lot of beef and shrimp, the Chow Fun was kind of bland and the noodles were all shredded up making it hard to eat. General Taos chicken had the most flavor and was decent. Food was ready very quickly, everything was priced fairly for inexpensive Chinese takeout.
google avatar

Joanna K.

Yelp
The fried rice is terrible. It's mushy and no flavor. Everything else is average. Service is typical.
google avatar

Maria E.

Yelp
It's a solid Long Beach quick-service budget-friendly Chinese food spot. They offer affordable lunch specials that include a main dish, rice and a soup or other combinations of the same value. The Pepper Steak is basically meat with bell peppers. For some reason we thought the "pepper" was referring to black pepper seasoning. But it's good especially if you like the ingredients. The Chicken Chow Mein is a solid dish especially for a picky eater--there aren't any outrageous flavors going on, just the flavors that you would expect and the noodles are soft. The Mongolian Beef is also solid with lots of vegetables. The Chicken with Garlic Sauce is good but I didn't get a huge punch of garlic which is what I want when I order anything with the word "garlic" in it. The Fried Rice is good, but not overly flavorful--I've definitely had better. The Egg Drop Soup is tasty and the Wonton Soup has lots of vegetables and is tasty, but put some soy sauce in it for an elevated taste. This restaurant offers inexpensive options with more than adequate portions and satisfactory quality food. With this economy, I appreciate this type of lunch and/or dinner option. Give them a shot.

Yelp
Moving to LB from SGV, I haven't had decent takeout Chinese food until encountering this restaurant. I've only ordered DoorDash from this establishment and it's honestly the best deal you can get for made-to-order takeout Chinese food. Skip Panda Express - you can find better food here with generous portions, and support a local family. I usually order the eggplant tofu with garlic sauce combo, and I ask for vegetarian fried rice without bbq pork. It comes with a fried snack and a soup. You really can't beat this deal. I am looking forward to visiting the actual storefront one day!
google avatar

Tim H.

Yelp
Oh my goodness. I've lived in Long Beach for 15 years and only now have I discovered this fabulous take out. JJ Chinese does not have trays of food warming and ready to go. Everything is made fresh to order. You should call ahead and pick it up. Not the best neighborhood. They could open up on 2nd street and be the biggest hit there! It tasted like there was no MSG and it was not over-salted. Instead it tasted incredibly homemade and delicious. We had Mongolian beef, sweet and sour pork, pork wontons, and pork fried rice. This is the best Chinese food I've had in almost 40 years. No joke. Add to it that they are so prompt and thoughtful in packing and providing all the pieces you'll need to have a complete dining experience wherever you take it. The shop isn't really set up for in-store dining, so keep in mind you'll be taking it home to eat. Highly recommended!

Saul F.

Yelp
Attentive staff and busy place. Food is a hit or miss, very good when well done and nothing to write home about otherwise.
google avatar

Hayli A.

Yelp
Best Chinese food spot forever. Honey garlic chicken is like no other. I have dreams of this food lol.
google avatar

Tee P.

Yelp
This is my go to place for Chinese food. The orange chicken is delicious. I like all the dishes that we have tried. The pork fried rice is fabulous. I love the wonton soup. The price is very reasonable. You do get a lot of food and it's easily shareable.
google avatar

Phi N.

Yelp
Order the hot & sour soup, sesame chicken lunch special (with egg drop soup), general tso's chicken, and shrimp chow mein. The hot & sour soup was way better of the two soups; wish it had more substance and less broth though. The egg drop soup needed salt. This restaurant isn't like most chinese fast food restaurants where you can order the chow mein as base like the fried rice, so I had to do a separate order and went with the shrimp. The two chickens were similar but the general tso was definitely better. Not as sweet and had a little bit of spice to it.

Di D.

Yelp
The food at JJ's is great--what you would grave from a hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant. The portions are generous and the order is fast. The restaurant is tiny and doesn't have any seating, but that's fine for takeout. Definitely my go to restaurant in LB.
google avatar

Yelp
We were craving some Chinese food and needed walnut shrimp. This spot was in our area. Parking: Street parking and plaza parking. It was actually pretty packed was plan accordingly and have patience Seating: It seems like there used to be seating but not so much with COVID-10 but it looks like a cool bar place. Feels: The space is in a neighborhood plaza so ou'll see it relatively full, or at least the parking lots. There are food spots, laundry washing, and a weed dispensary place. It's an express spot so nothing flashy just good visuals of all the eatery spots. FOOD: Orange Chicken Combo - Fried Rice, Egg Roll, Soup (Recommend) A good bang for your book. I think about a good comfort meal that is fulfilling that has the essence . Texture may not be as fresh but the flavors are there and the combo gets the job done as well. Walnut Shrimp (A-Ok) Good flavors if you just need a fix. Lowkey the shrimp was extra chewy and well marinated with honey mayo. Be sure to eat quick as it gets soggy. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Respect! It was basically a single woman working the line and kitchen! TL; DR OVERALL: 3.5 Stars. I appreciate this spot. Steady price and plentiful selections. This may not be the most high-end Chinese food spot but it gets the job done if you need your Chinese food fix. Tips: *Call ahead of time. They do get busy.
