J.K. Carriere - Wine Tastings, Appointment or Walk In

This winery has a vast and scenic view of its vineyards and of Mount Hood in the background. On a warm sunny day, it is fun to sit in their patio areas to enjoy the scenery. Although I prefer Pinot Noir with less acidity, the 2011 Pinot Noir Vespidae that when paired with meats with a touch of fat balances the acidity of the wine.

Out of an entire day, J.K. Carriere stood head and shoulders above every other winery we visited. Spectacular views, wonderful wines, and the hospitality was exceptional. Thank you Tim!

Everything about this place is wonderful. It's a must stop for anyone who likes trying delightful wines in a gorgeous setting.

Their tasting room is off the beaten path but is a must visit for lovers of pure, intensely delicious pinot noir!

Jim is a down-to-earth guy who knows his stuff. There is no pretentious attitude or snobbery here.

First stop on our wine trip of day one, probably hands down my favorite winery of the 9 that we visited. We got there right at 11 and had the tasting room to ourselves. The server poured us all kinds of wines and told us a lot about the history and geography of the Willamette Valley. My only regret, not buying more wine! It was the first stop so I didn't want to buy all the wine, but I should have. If they have a bottle of their bubbly open, it's amazing and definitely buy it.

J.K. Carriere is a new breed of winemaker doing innovative and exciting things with light reds, from rose (dry!) to pinot, and also chardonnay, for fans of white. This winery is fun and not terribly easy, to find, a long drive off the beaten path, but don't stop when you think you may be lost. Its probably right around the corner. Earnest and super talented winemaker (Jim Prosser) & crew are at the helm of this fantastic winery. This particular spot is well worth the journey.

Beautiful winery! I loved this place. Came here with my family that was visiting from Sweden and they loved it as well. You should look over the staff though....we came in with a group of 11 people and the lady that greeted us had a T-shirt that said "screw it" and my father-in-law said that he liked it, whereas she responded-"yeah that's kinda how I felt when you guys walked in". This kept going though out our entire visit, never said anything about the wine, had no recommendations and completely tried to ignore us and our questions! Horrible service from the Brooklyn bound lady! Ps when we asked for water, she replied "you'll have to wait, I'm busy right now and it's gonna be lukewarm from the tap.

We were fortunate enough to stumble upon J.K. Carriere on a beautiful blue sky day. What's better than sitting on the grass, basking in the sun, taking in hilltop views with a glass of Pinot noir in hand?The wines were positively sublime and demonstrated a great diversity of tone and character. The staff was beyond warm and welcoming, and we got a chance to chat with Jim the winemaker, who was terrific. Don't hesitate to do the longer tasting that includes the sparkling Pinot, it's magnificent!! We can't wait to come back!

Visited here on the recommendation of a friend. Great mountaintop location with fantastic views. Service was great and the folks friendly. We liked the Pinots even though we're not Pinot fans. Their flagship Vespidae was great; we tasted a 2013 and 2009 and the latter was amazing. Had a good Chardonnay also. $10 per person for tasting, a bargain for the quality product. If you're a couple the first $10 is applied to your wine purchase. It's easy to find but off the beaten path. You'll want to plug the address into your gps or phone map app.

We felt adventurous- so we took a detour on the way to Dundee and stumbled onto this little Jewel. I loved the large dragonfly out front, the grounds were beautiful. And the service was amazing. We got one-on-one attention and even got a mini-tour and details about their production process.

We went in today and were the only ones in the tasting room so we got excellent service from Leo. He was amazing and super knowledgeable. Very passionate about the entire process. The white Pinot is delish! Great views too!

Fabulous wines and great scenery. Memorial Day weekend begins the wine tasting season in Willamette Valley and throughout Oregon. Pizza parties and more are on the event calendar at JKC this summer. Looking forward to them all!

Wonderful experience. Extremely knowledgeable and personable individuals. A beautiful location. Tasting flight was exquisitely designed and executed. Would highly recommend a visit.

There aren't a whole lot of signs leading the way to J.K, which gives you a personal affair with their excellent wines and beautiful estate. Staff and owner are very friendly and knowledgable. Owner, Jim, is very personable and tries to converse with all who come to visit. Wine tasting was $10 for a standard tasting. Unique wines, most excellent was the provocateur WV Pinot noir 2014. Gorgeous views! Will definitely be back!

The wine for a sommelier's palate. This is wine not made to drink right away so its made carefully and classically. We came not knowing it was closed but Jim Prosser, the owner, was in, and welcomed us over. He took the morning to go through the wines, educate us (this guy knows his stuff and has studied under the best in France and Australia), and explain the yellow wasp logo (ask him when you see him!). His wines are on some of the best lists nationwide (like Gary Danko in SF). I can't believe how open and honest a winemaker is - you'll never, ever, get this kind of treatment for this level of wine in Napa (i.e. non-commercial). You have to drive a bit to get there but worth it. Beautiful views and property. Awesome!
