Joe & The Juice - Review - University District - Seattle - The Infatuation

"This trendy cafe with lots of smoothies, juices, and sandwiches is now open at University Village. That means more fuel for the Willams Sonoma and Aritzia super shoppers. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Kayla Sager-Riley

Finally tried Joe & the Juice while I was in town, and honestly I was pretty underwhelmed. The spicy tuna panini tasted very basic — something I could easily make at home — and it took a long time for our order to be ready. When we first arrived, the staff seemed inattentive and we waited about 7 minutes before anyone even took our order, which didn’t feel very welcoming. On top of that, the prices were shockingly high for what you get. Maybe that’s common knowledge for regulars, but it really caught me off guard. Between the long wait, rude service, and the food not living up to the hype, I don’t think I’d go back.

What a cute shop! The coffee is delicious and I love it. The service is super friendly and helpful. I will definitely try their sandwiches and smoothies next time.

I ordered a tunacado with jalapeños and it was made so poorly. They forgot my jalapeños so I had to bring it back to have them fix it. Paying over $1 for a jalapeño add on and for them to give me 4 jalapeños is a joke. Our sandwiches (2) didn’t have enough tuna spread and it was poorly spread onto the flat bread that a 1/3 of it didn’t have any spread. The flavor and quality of the sandwich is not as good as the location near the Amazon Spheres. I will not be returning

Finally trying Joe and the Juice at Uvillage! I didn’t know they had a location in downtown Seattle and got super excited when I saw them opening in Uvillage. We ordered ahead through the app because we brought our dog and the app just kept saying in process for like 30 minutes when the ETA said 6-10minutes. So I went inside to ask and it was already ready. They said the app sometimes does that and to just walk up to their side window for app orders. Ive seen the spicy tunacado on social media and it just looked so yummy. The panini was definitely super crispy and inside it had tuna mousse, jalapeños, tabasco, avocado(+$2), tomato, and vegan pesto. We also tried the beets & berries smoothie which had strawberries, beetroot powder, banana, date puree, collagen & whey protein, and sproud m*lk. -spicy tunacado $12.20 + avocado $2 -beets & berries $14.50

After reading the reviews for this location, I prepared myself (and my 3 kids for a wait). We arrived at 130 on a Thursday and received our two sandwiches and drink in approximately 5 minutes. Impressive! The staff was welcoming, kind, and informative for 1st timers. We ordered the Tunacado, Steak sandwich, and a strawberry, banana, vanilla milk "shake". My daughter and I shared the Tunacado. It was tasty. We both loved the bread. The tuna "mousse" tasted like the tuna I make at home. Either I make amazing tuna with Costco tuna or.... ? My oldest had the Steak sandwich and he liked it. My youngest shared the "shake" with his siblings (he ate at home). He liked the shake. Overall, was it worth the hype... sure! It was tasty and trendy. Was it worth the cost .. sure! We knew the cost going in! Our only negative point, we didn't get the cute pink sandwich boxes. 🙄

Sandwich was good, although they put tomatoes when we requested none. We waited ten mins after our scheduled pick up time and I had to ask for a bag again after I requested one and everyone else got bags lol, I got 3 people’s meals! Also lots of people answering the window and not communicating. Hopefully new business quirks that need to be worked out.

Today I tried the tunacado sandwich for the first time and to be honest it was just ok for me. The price was a bit too much in my opinion. The service was also very disappointing. The girl who served me just handed me my sandwich and did not put it in the pink box like I had noticed all the other customers had. I did get one after I had asked.
