"Joe Leone’s is far and away our favorite place in Ocean County to fill the cooler for the day or stock up for a weekend of hanging out poolside. This place serves bread and fresh mozzarella as good as you’ll find in North Jersey, and the whole place is packed with the best specialty items on the coast. It’s impossible to go wrong here, but the sandwiches, eggplant pie, or any of their daily specials from the chef’s case are what you want. Although they closed their long-time Sea Girt shop, the Joe Leone’s empire continues to be ever-expanding, with a newer location now open in Downtown Manasquan that has a variety of JL’s classics. Google
Beach vacation to point pleasant, was advised i must experience Joe Leone's. The experience did not disappoint. So many options, sandwich making section, hot plate section, breads, prepared packaged items, too much to list... We grabbed some canolli spread, canolli chips, tomato basil kettle pita chips, some meats and cheeses, an eggplant milanese special, also Joe Leone's Italian combo with roasted red peppers, provolone, mozzarella on Italian bread roll. Everything was so far absolutely delicious

Google
Born in the Bronx so I’ve enjoyed the best Italian specialities my whole life. This place is easily the best Italian food store I’ve ever been to. The mozzarella is out of this world along with many other foods. I had the Italian combo today on ciabatta, this is the stuff they have in heaven!

Tyler Glavocich

Google
Beautiful store with some great theming. Love the food too!

Google
Do not miss this gem of a food heaven. We tried a little of many things and each was more outstanding than the next. Shout out to Jim who was so helpful in keeping our three year old from having a bit of a meltdown. Can’t wait to come back

Google
This place will not disappoint and you should honestly feel lucky that you got to walk in the doors. The hot food and the deli are amazing. If you don’t buy the tomato petals, the mozzarella along with a loaf of bread, you crazy. I come to the shore once a year and the first thing I think about when I arrive and the last thing I think about when I leave. Thank you for the staff and the chefs. Forever your most obsessed customer.

Google
I placed a catering order in the store last Wednesday (8/14) for an event on that Saturday. When I called to make changes that day, no one answered and the message said that changes couldn’t be left on voicemail - you have to speak to someone. Never got a call back. When I called that Friday to confirm order and add full tray of sausage and peppers bianco with just sweet sausage (not sweet and hot) I was initially told that they may not be able to substitute because it may change the recipe?! And there may be an upcharge?! The lady called back and said no problem. I asked for an email to confirm the order because I had nothing in writing, she said she would send. Never got an email. When my husband went to pick up on Saturday, there was no tray of sausage and peppers. Thankfully, a local pizzeria made us a tray last minute. Won’t be going back.

Yelp
When we are in the mood for Italian take out, Joe Leone's is our go-to. We enjoy the mozzarella, the bread, the chicken dishes as well as the various other dishes.

Matthew S.

Yelp
Always get an amazing sandwich from Joe's. I had the chicken cutlet sandwich with eggplant, fresh mozz, pesto, and roasted red peppers. The bread was perfect, not too hard or soft. I try to come to Joe's whenever I am in the area.

Nikole F.

Yelp
Delicious sandwiches, really fresh ingredients. Highly recommend this spot to grab lunch. They also have a variety of other cheeses, meats, pasta and specialities.

Julie D.

Yelp
Sandwiches are gigantic and delicious. Very fun to walk in there and look around. The buffet also looked fantastic. The staff behind the sandwich station are a little stand off-ish and not that welcoming but the sandwich makes up for it.

Sarah C.

Yelp
Everything looked delicious and the workers were all so friendly and helpful! The sandwiches we had made, were huge and SO GOOD. I'm sad we waited until the end of the trip to visit.

Nicole M.

Yelp
This place is amazing, as soon as you walk in you are takin in by all the fresh delicious breads, foods. They make the best vodka sauce and bolognese sauce. Everything is so delicious. They make fresh sandwiches also. Joe Leones will not disappoint you. Have them cater your next party. The staff is so friendly.

Rick B.

Yelp
Try the eggplant pie! Delish! The best Place the get semolina bread. Prices can get high but food is good.

Mike P.

Yelp
I came here on my first day at a new job and have been coming back since. They have a great selection of frozen specialty items, a selection of cookies including pinoli cookies (expensive but have you seen the price of pine nuts), baked bread and some other items. They have a selection of sandwiches as well and I typically get a roast beef or the eggplant Milanese. The shop is small but it has the things I have needed. When stopping for lunch they don't have drinks but the attached liquor store does have non alcoholic beverages and they don't mind if you charge it if you don't have cash. A worthwhile place to stop for a sandwich on the go or to check out some specialty items if you're in the area.

Jackie B.

Yelp
Best sandwiches hands down! Huge variety of breads, meats, and toppings. Prices are very reasonable for the sandwiches as well. Be sure to check their sandwich of the day specials as some are so tasty! Some of the other great things are: Fresh mozzarella is the best I've had anywhere. Tomato petals are AMAZING and a must have. My co workers ask for the crab dip whenever we have parties. Vodka sauce is great! Only things I'm not fond of are the thick cuts of chicken used for their chicken specials and the pasta fagioli soup was way to salty last time I got it. None of those 2 things are significant enough for me to drop it down a star, just something to note.

M B.

Yelp
Joe Leone catered the repast in my home for my husband's best friend. The food was delicious and easy to present and the whole process was so easy. The information from heating and serving instructions to deadlines for changes where clear and concise. I was particularly impressed with the sausage and peppers Bianca. It was over the top delicious--the sausage was great, the veg perfectly cooked and the potatoes just made it a bit more interesting. Thank you for making a difficult day manageable.

Joanna C.

Yelp
Phenomenal and authentic Italian food. Cooked meals to frozen ravioli, Joe Leone's has everything you need. I use them for holiday catering and it's delicious. Although the store is small, they packed everything in. Fresh salads & sandwiches to tiramisu & cannoli cream.

Nicole C.

Yelp
Such great food along with the staff! Everyone was very welcoming and personable... The experience did not disappoint!

Julie L.

Yelp
Sorry not a fan of the food, but everyone else loves this place. I don't like the bread; it's too hard.

Helena F.

Yelp
Joe Leone's by far has the best premade food, takeout, and groceries to cook at home it's the best store in the surrounding towns. What are you doing a Point, Pleasant, Bay, Head, Manasquan and Mantoloking??? I highly recommend if you're passing by to stop in for fresh fruit, the best sandwiches, homemade bread, desserts, and homemade dinner !!! do

Daniel A.

Yelp
I was treated to their mozzarella and what is called Tomato Petals, which to be honest I had no idea what to expect. The mozzarella even after the trip was light and moist. Upon cutting, it gave no resistance which meant it was not overly worked when forming the braids, which is the sign of a professional cheesemaker. I will say out of the now 8 different mozzarelle I've tried this has had the best texture. Excellent Job. I can only imagine what it's like when it's first made. I know North Jersey claims the best Italian but this is right up there. As much as I liked the mozzarella, I liked the tomato petals even more. They're not Sun-Dried tomatoes but a fresh tomato that is baked with garlic, olive oil, and parsley. Almost like the marinated eggplant you see in many Italian Markets. Another way to describe it is if you took the tomato off a grandma pie or a Foccacia and put it on a plate. Super garlicky and super delicious. And with the piece of mozzarella, it was eating all the best parts of a pizza and not having the added carbs. My first experience with Joe Leone's was a great one and I can't wait to get the opportunity to go down myself to check out the store. I'm definitely stopping by after I finish fist-pumping at Jenks.

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Want the fattest most delicious sandwich of your life? Stop by. We ordered a bunch of sandwiches for a family get together and they were so delicious. The staff was so nice as to cut them up for us into catering size and prepared them so quickly.

Brian R.

Yelp
This store really stands out as unique. What a great selection of product. Minimally their sandwiches are amazing as are the selection of product . This shop has been around a long time and is consistently excellant

Alyssa S.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots at the shore! Only dowside is the prices, but honestly worth it when you can splurge. Their sandwiches are ginormous and so fresh and delicious. They have so many tasty, authentic Italian items & a ton of other housemade specialties. Don't skip out on the cajun crab dip, it is incredible!! The staff is always lovely and they move the lines super fast even when they're really busy!

Yelper G.

Yelp
One word DELICIOUS! Try everything! The mozzarella my hands down favorite but right up there is the focaccia bread and thin style chicken milanese! Yum, yum, yum!

Spera S.

Yelp
My favorite place at the jersey shore. Store is always spotless , the help actually assists you without even asking for it. The food is fresh and delicious . Calamari and octopus salad are favorites of ours and the bread and mozzarella are a must !! Love this place !

Peter P.

Yelp
Joe Leone's is a Point Pleasant institution! This is probably one of my favorite spots (I was visiting from Texas) and there are a wide variety of Italian dinners you can take home for the family. The chicken Milanese was great and tasty. The chicken parm was good as well (sauce is rich and good). The potato croquettes stole the show though and were amazing! The staff is friendly and the line was moving quickly.

Aimee P.

Yelp
Biggest subs known to mankind. So much meat Everything fresh! Fresh ciabatta bread or whichever you choose Freshest cuts of meat Good seasoning and serves 4 people lol 20$ but worth it

Steven R.

Yelp
Best Italian market in Point. They make to order sandwiches. Try chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers, sharp provolone with balsamic glaze.

Steven G.

Yelp
Best sandwiches in the area for quality, ratio of ingredients, and bread. And of course everything else they have to offer is top notch

Jersey G.

Yelp
I recently ordered a gift box to send to someone. It was such a pleasure just placing the order! I ordered on line and then had a question. I called, the phone was answered immediately and the person on the other end was pleasant, very helpful and very knowledgeable. Such a unique experience nowadays! The recipient of the box was delighted. The food was fresh and delicious. Thank you to the staff at Joe Leone's!

Bill D.

Yelp
This Italian specialty store is absolutely amazing ... Everything is so good & so tempting . Service is impeccable & employees are so friendly ... There sandwiches are huge & so freaking good ***** 5 Stars Bill D

Stuart B.

Yelp
Fresh and well prepared specialty Italian cuisine which is great for gourmet take out. Nice and easy for a good meal when you don't want to cook. You always come out with more than you planned on. Bon Appetite!

Steven M.

Yelp
Why do the employees have to touch you to talk to you? Terrible service. Be aware. The food is ok ,but some employees were terrible.

Stephen K.

Yelp
Pricey, for $20 I expect a sandwich that will alter time and space. That being said their sandwiches weren't bad. There is no menu so you make your sandwich from scratch which is neat. Service gets you in and out quickly without much hassle. Also if it wasn't called an Italian deli on the door you would never know due to the interior decoration.

Samantha M.

Yelp
Restaurant decor is beautiful- love the brick! The service we had was amazing. Wish i remembered the managers name, but she is great! So attentive and made us feel welcomed and not rushed at all (we went on a Wednesday evening). Food was really good, sweets were all yummy. Their Moscow Mule was deliciously refreshing and the Expresso martinis were divine. Best Expresso Martinis I've ever had. A must try for sure!

Scott P.

Yelp
Hands down the best pastrami sandwich I've ever had. The bread and the meat were absolutely perfect. Half of the sandwich had me full so great value. I'll be dreaming about this sandwich until I can get my hands on another one. I need to try everything on this menu asap. Not kidding.

Thomas W.

Yelp
Italian Combo with great crab dip to go. A NJ seaside delight! Italia Jersey style!

Tomas B.

Yelp
Not quite sure how anyone could ever give this place anything but 5 Stars because as far as Italian markets and deli's' go this one might rank up there on the all time high list OMG. Can't believe been coming to the NJ Shore and haven't been to this place before. Every single solitary thing a person could want from this type of establishment is available. I had been at a party that they catered and knew how good their trays were, but getting in there and picking up mix of Italian treats, sandwiches and side dishes makes me wanting one in South Florida! Every Hot Dish you could ever want is available while real winner here is the bread and the homemade sandwiches. After picking up an array of side dishes we head over to the deli counter where a line of individuals are churning out the some of the best subs ever. We settle today with entire loaves of bread (2) cut into 6 pieces each. We could have gone to 8 pieces each they were that big. Chicken cutlets on seeded loaf with 4 big breasts sliced so they fit each piece of sandwich topped with arugula, tomatoes, basil, fresh homemade mozzarella, with a balsamic glaze. YUM. They were even nice enough to wrap each individual cut of sandwich separately above and beyond but very much appreciated. Italian combo with so many cuts of Italian meats that I stopped watching as the sandwich grew in height and calories with each add on. Sandwiches were about $22.00 each and came with multiple bags of chips. Honestly for the size of the loaf of bread, amount of quality ingredients on each these were more than reasonable. Simply stated everything was fresh and delish and price points more than reasonable for quality of what you are receiving. Plenty of free parking, friendly staff and great customer service HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

Phil G.

Yelp
If you live in New York or New Jersey Joe Leone's is a good Italian market. If you live in Seattle, Joe Leone's is an oasis in the Sahara desert. Walking in, I felt like Lawrence of Arabia finally reaching Aqaba. The prepared food was "out of this world" good. I bought bread like a religious Jewish person, knowing Passover was coming up, and all bread but matzoh would be verboten. I came back to the hotel with three different loaves. By morning, half of each was gone. When I woke, my bed covers were covered with crumbs. The people working at Joe Leone's were delightful, enhancing the fun. If I lived within 100 miles of Joe Leone's, my coronary doc would be my closest friend.

Patricia N.

Yelp
GREAT because sometimes we visit the shore inn and don't want to prepare food and with one stop at Leones for every imaginable Italian food group from sauces, deli meats, prepared sides and entrees, cheeses, breads, desserts, dry pastas and everything in between. I pick a few things: arancini balls, sausage and peppers, chicken Milanese, fresh ricotta, salami, baguettes, salads, broccoli rabe, etc. When purchased this way, we can discover and enjoy the time at the beach.

Ceil Z.

Yelp
Lots of wonderful Italian food. Home made pasta's. Great bread. Cooked food to go.

Joisey G.

Yelp
Food is delicious and fresh. In store and for catering. We have ordered catering quite a few times

Mike N.

Yelp
Only ever had sandwiches (both here and their other location) and they are phenomenal. Pretty much anything you want to order will be high quality. My personal favorite creation I made last week was prosciutto, mozzarella and chicken cutlet on a roll with roasted peppers and balsamic. Holy hell it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had.

Nicholas G.

Yelp
Italian sandwiches are delicious and not overly salty. The deli meat is quality and the bread that the sandwiches come on is fresh. Sandwiches are so simple but hard to be done right! The turkey and swiss sandwich is also delicious. I like the sides here as well. The pasta salads and all other sides work well with the sandwiches. The place is busy so you know they aren't sitting there all week. The mozzarella is the star of the show here too and can be good on a sandwich on its own!

Anna V.

Yelp
What can I say about Joe Leones that has not be said. I give them a 5/5 in every category. Let me mention some things that may not have been said. The hero/sandwich bar staff creates works of art with each sandwich. They are very generous with their portions and the prices are very good for these oversized sandwiches. The daily hot specials are always creative and delicious. The market is clean and organized and there is always someone asking if you need assistnace. They have a great selection of breads made fresh on the premises. Try ordering on Christmas Eve just to get their specialty holiday selections and experience the Christmas operation which is super organized and festive. Parking is tight, but that's because they are always busy. This is a must visit anytime you visit the NJ Shore.

Bev M.

Yelp
Their sandwiches are amazing! Although I have not had the opportunity to try their hot and other cold food, I will be back for sure.

Howard B.

Yelp
With the shortage of time we all suffer from, this market offers a great place to pick up prepared foods. With a menu that changes daily and includes a sandwich of the day and many dinner options that will appeal to any palate this market has become one of my go to options. In addition as an Italian market you will find all kind of pastas and imported specialties that are a step above those found in local supermarkets . I always leave there with more than I expected to buy as it offers so many great choices

Stefanie W.

Yelp
They make the absolute prettiest and tastiest sandwiches I have ever seen and had! Walking into Joe Leone's is already absolute heaven being surrounded by all the different cheeses, meats, & breads but it only gets better once you get to the deli. Everyone is so nice and helpful and really try to move you along. There are so many different options to choose from including the hot bar and sandwich station. From fresh and delicious to quick and convenient, I can't say enough good things about this place!

Jim T.

Yelp
Joe Leone's is the best Italian market in the area, no doubt. You can get everything here, from fresh mozzarella to bread to cold cuts and prepared foods. They have an area where they offer sandwiches, which I've had and come with a bag of chips. It is the best, highest quality $7-9 sandwich you can get in the area. On their prepared foods line, they have some staples like meatballs which are my favorite and they switch up some of their other selections. In the cold case you can find soups, pasta sauce, fresh pasta, other prepared foods and more. The selections are endless and I usually come out of the store a little light in the pocket because I could seriously eat everything they have to offer. It's not cheap, but when you eat their food you are getting what you pay for, top notch/high quality food. I suggest coming for lunch, a snack or even on those Sundays when you just don't feel like cooking, you can't go wrong!

Frank M.

Yelp
The food is not the best it's just so so , I wouldn't go back there again , it's not one of the best food places around for sure , my opinion make your own.

Gisèle A.

Yelp
Every family party that we've ever held we've always had Joey Lelands if we went to a baptism or a shower it was always Joe Leones!!! it is absolutely by far the best Italian food! The flavors in the sauce are incredible! The food melts right in your mouth I can't explain it it is like having a party in your mouth it is incredibly delicious!! I have to say now that they opened up in Manasquan next to PNC bank, you could smell the yummy food all the way down the main street!! I remember pulling up in the parking lot and I saw a bunch of police officers walking out with big bags and I said "God bless you officers thank you for your service and enjoy your dinner tonight!" and they said "oh we will he's incredible" it was awesome to see and hear the truth. I love Joe Leones!

Katie B.

Yelp
Delicious food.. we live an hour away and always treat ourselves to Joe Leone's when we are in the area.

Doug D.

Yelp
Joe Leone's is a really upscale Italian market for people who want New York quality but live around here. That's right. It almost feels as if you're in New York when you are inside. It's great how they have groceries that you can pick up to bring home, but they also have a sandwich shop built it. I got a sandwich because I was at the Last Wave Brewery, which has beer only and allows you to bring food. I also picked up a pasta fagioli soup container, and it was totally delicious. I need to go here more often.

Timothy T.

Yelp
There's a reason Joe Leone enjoys a 4.5 star rating; they're good, bellisimo. I think it is evident as soon as you walk in the store. I went on a weekday in November and it wasn't very crowded. As you walk in the aroma of Italian food hits you; it's wonderful. The store is divided into sections, prepared foods, baked goods, deli, canned/bottled, goods, cheeses, etc. Plenty of staff dressed alike in each section to help you. I was on a mission to check out the store (only been by it scores of times) and to get some sharp provolone cheese. Not knowing the layout, I waited in the deli line only to be told they have a cheese section. The gentleman behind the counter said follow me. He took the time to walk me over to the cheese counter and introduce me to their cheese monger (his words). I tasted a few different cheeses and decided on an aged provolone. At $16/lb it's not cheap but quality costs. Polite staff at checkout put the icing on the cake. Quality food, quality staff, wonderful atmosphere make for a place worthy of checking out.
