Took my husband for Father's Day. The food and service was superb. Atmosphere-excellent. We were seated next to the river view. The food always slaps! Be prepared to spend $$$$.

Such an amazing experience from Lee, Mike, Matt the GM, to Tamika my server…. Ambience and vibe to die for… food was so good… and the view… what a place. Will most deff be back 👩🏻‍🎓🤍❤️😊thank you for such an amazing graduation dinner. Must come for tourist or locals.

Attended a catered event here, the food was superb. I only wish I had room for more. All the employees here was so friendly, and went above and beyond. If the event says anything for the restaurant, you will not be disappointed.

Had a great meal here. The staff are superb. A really first class experience. The ambiance is old world and classy. Will say the "barttended" drinks need a bit of work. That would be my only knock. That being said the wine selection is excellent.

I went for the first time on my birthday yesterday. I mentioned it was my birthday and the chef making the sushi said Happy Birthday. I thought that was really nice. The food? Very bland and I give it a 3/10. My sushi looked nice but every time I picked it up it fell apart. So it was difficult to eat. The drink was nice but seemed watery? I thought that was odd. There was no ice. To be honest I expected a little more for the side. Literally it was one baby carrot chopped in the smallest pieces possible. Then 8 string beans. Yes I counted because I was surprised. Overall the atmosphere was beautiful. The staff was pleasant. Ali was nice as well as my server Kyle. To be honest it was an ok experience although I expected better but I won’t return to the establishment.

One of the most delicious seafood dinners I've had in ages. I definitely can recommend the salmon ravioli, the stuffed barramundi and the roasted branzino. The view is amazing and the servers are really cool people. It was a DELIGHTFUL experience. A definitely must see experience in Downtown Detroit

Went for our anniversary a week ago. We had been here a few times but we decided to go again because the 1st few times we had a great experience. This time wasn't the best. We had an amazing view, and we enjoyed that. Our Waiter seemed to take a really long time to get things we asked or completely forget. We didn't bother because we had a long day and really didn't prolong it. I asked for a chili I never got. After we got our food, my wife was disappointed that we overheard the other waiters mentioning menu items that were never brought up to us. She didn't want to change her order because we had ordered 30 mins after finding out they had lamb chops that day. I ordered the waygu short rib that was really good, and we shared truffle Mac. It was never mentioned we would get a complimentary dessert after we ordered 2, and we were given 1 my wife hates, which was coconut. I thought attention to detail and time could have been better. It felt like because the gratuity was already added, the complimentary anniversary dessert was not mentioned in an effort to increase the tip. I enjoyed my food, but my wife, not so much. I'm not sure if we would go back.

Had a great birthday dinner at Joe Muer Seafood. The lobster tail was pretty much perfect, clarified butter was smooth and nutty with the perfect amount of salt. Steak was a little rare for my medium rare request as I knew the 14oz fillet would be thicker, but I was satisfied. As always the appetizers were fantastic and desert was perfect. 5/5

Cannot begin to express how much I loved this place. You get to enjoy amazing food with a great atmosphere and a spectacular view of Canada across the river. It's just beautiful. The food seemed pricey as expected but once that filet melted like butter and I got a taste of their lavender gin drink, the crimson something... my mind changed completely. It's actually very reasonably priced. Our waitress, TAYLOR, was so friendly and so welcoming and helpful. I know it's work but it really felt like she was genuinely happy to have us there and happy to be there. Joe Muer Seafood is a SIX STAR restaurant!

Top to bottom ineptitude. Walked into this restaurant for our 5pm reservation. The place was nearly empty except for a large group of about 16 people which included two very young children who were running around the table and a crying baby. We were seated immediately next to them, within 5 feet of the screaming baby. Very large very empty restaurant. No amount of anything, service, food, view can make up for that kind of incompetence. I almost asked to be moved but the mother was r.i.g.h.t. there and already looked distressed, so we sat down, sighed, and ordered drinks. I ordered a dry Negroni, timeless classic, and received some lurid pink thing over crushed ice. My husband only drinks beer, but even he laughed. We clinked glasses, toasted the view and spent way too much money for the "experience". I imagine this place thinks it's fine dining, but clearly they are in error. -Bread service slow. -Water glasses empty. -About the third time the waiter said your entrees are on the way my husband started quoting Princess Bride to me "I do not think that means what he thinks it means" -husbands side of scallops excellent, main entree fish special inedibly dry -my seafood pasta way way way overcooked and mushy, clams and mussels burned to a crisp -asked for dessert carryout and it was smashed beyond recognition into a too small container Funny, except it cost $$$, strongly advise to think twice about going to this restaurant. The view is free outside. Grab a nearby Panera sandwich and save yourself some expensive pain.

I don't mind paying $175 per person for dinner but I expect the food to taste seasoned. My food was bland. My appetizer and entree lacked any imagination. Honestly, my cooking at home is better. I went out for a special meal and left wishing I'd bought the ingredients at the grocery store and cooked at home. I thought they ruined high end seafood. I was looking forward to a delicious, memorable meal. I just got a meal I'll remember for feeling disappointed. The service was great though and that's rare these days. Too bad the waiter wasn't in the kitchen.

Stopped in for a happy hour dinner at the bar. The bartenders were attentive and knowledgeable. While the spicy tuna tartare isn't on the happy hour menu, 10/10 recommend it. The coconut cake is what they are known for. It was a delicious bite but I kept wondering about the carrot cake. I opted to order that one instead it was divine.

What an awesome experience I had this restaurant. Top-notch A1 you gotta go. The food will knock your socks off in fact it'll make you split your wig. The service last night was impeccable. Not a long wait very short wait and enjoyable moment we had there, Tamika was our server last night was amazing. Incredible personality, and true to the word. "We Will be back."

I visited here for the first time over the weekend. The seafood we had was great!! We had 2 different kinds of raw oysters. I had the lobster bisque, which was very rich and yummy: Rich broth with butter poached lobster infused with sherry and crème I followed that with the crab stuffed Atlantic flounder, which was really delicious, too: Oven-roasted with whole grain mustard beurre blanc I really enjoyed the hit of nutmeg in the creamed spinach. We also got the sautéed mushroom blend to accompany our meal, too: Shitake, Button, and Beech with sliced garlic and zip sauce GF Overall, we had way too much food and had to take some home, but everything we had was so delicious, and I don't know what I would have skipped. I loved the view out the abundant windows as we ate. It's a really nice place for a celebration. While it's not my very favorite among the numerous options in Detroit, I really enjoyed myself and wouldn't be upset if we went back. Definitely worth a visit!!

Upon arriving, my mother and I were warmly greeted, my jacket was taken, and we were seated promptly despite not having a reservation. The ambiance was absolutely beautiful, with a stunning view of the Detroit River and Canada across the water. Our waiter was polite, albeit a bit cold, while the bussers were amazing. The food presentation was very nice, and the calamari was particularly enjoyable. However, the rest of the food was just okay The shrimp was too much garlic for such little shrimp. Despite this, overall, it was a great visit during my trip to Detroit.

I recently went to Joe Muer Seafood for a group gathering in one of the private dining rooms. The first thing I noticed as I walked in was a large sign stating the restaurant's dress code. For this type of establishment, I thought it would be pretty obvious, but I guess they get a lot of people who need the reminder. I checked in at the front desk and was taken to the room quickly. Since the group was so big, there was a set menu ($115) in place with shared appetizers,a salad course, a choice of 4 different entrees, shared sides, and a choice of 3 different desserts. In total, the food consisted of: Shrimp Ilene - Well, they weren't lying about these being colossal. Huge shrimp covered in a nice savory and nutty brown butter sauce. Unfortunately, the shrimp were overcooked with tough and rubbery meat. Not a good start. Oysters Rockefeller - These oysters were served on a bed of sea salt - bad idea. These were not plated cleanly, resulting in the sea salt going over the top into the creamed spinach. Super salty. Roquefort Wedge - This is the laziest wedge salad I've ever seen. Everything needed to be cut and assembled by the diner. At least the French dressing was applied appropriately, with enough between each individual lettuce leaf. Oven Roasted Barramundi - Just look at the picture and tell me this is something you would be happy getting at a fine dining destination. This is the worst presentation for fish I have ever seen. Lobster/crab cake almost disintegrating, the fish looking as if chef was hungry and decided to sneak a few bites. I honestly can't believe they thought it was okay to bring out this dish. At least the Barramundi was nice and tender with only a hint of fishiness. The veggies were also fine - however, the waiters forgot to give me a knife to cut the haricot verts. The lobster/crab cake was complete mush but at least had a decent shellfish taste. Creamed Spinach - I'm normally not a fan of creamed spinach in the first place, so take this with a grain of salt. This tasted like spinach cooked in milk (super milky lactose flavor), with no aromatics and no cheese. At the end of the dinner, the serving dish was still 90% full, so I think that tells how much everyone liked this dish. Black Truffle Mac and Cheese - Taste-wise and presentation, this was fine. Nice cheese crust on top, Cheese sauce included visible specks of truffle with a strong truffle taste. Very one note truffle flavor: truffle salt + artificial truffle oil perhaps? The cavatappi pasta was severely overcooked and almost to the point of being mush. The pasta would fall apart as I spooned it onto my plate. Cheesecake - No complaints about this one. It's a cheesecake, hard to mess that up. Oh, one thing is they forgot to bring me a fork to eat this with. I had to take the fork from one of the guests who couldn't make it. Joe Muer Seafood has fine dining prices with presentation and construction worse than Applebees and service to match. I do not recommend eating here. The only reason they don't get a 1 is because at least some of the food was decent.

I came here as part of a large group with a bunch of friends. I had heard many good things about this place, but I was very disappointed. The dinner started with a bread basket with a variety of breads with a few sides: a small dollop of smoked salmon spread, cannellini beans, and "butter". It's in parenthesis because it was whipped and tasted oily on the tongue and so I highly doubt it was butter. It was a bad starting omen. They also had table "olive oil" and "basalmic vinegar". The olive oil tasted like slightly rancid neutral oil, without any peppery or grassy notes. The basalmic vinegar was more like red wine vinegar. The appetizers were somewhat unappetizing. The shrimp ilene was ok- the very large shrimp were slightly overcooked, but they served as a decent vehicle for the toasted almond lemon butter. The oysters Rockefeller was a dud. The presentation looked very nice and they were served on a bed of salt. The creamed spinach on top was gross and did not work at all with the dish. The Roquefort wedge salad was disappointing. I have never been to a place that serves wedge salad with a dull butter knife rather than a steak knife and expects you to saw away at the lettuce. It's a lot of work. The hard boiled egg (which still had a piece of egg shell on it that I had to pick off), tomato wedge, pile of bacon, and dollop of Roquefort cheese were all arranged to be segregated and in the most unappealing way possible. By the way, one of my friends has a dairy intolerance and asked for no cheese, and his plate had double the amount of Roquefort that mine had. Another one of my friends doesn't eat pork, and his plate had bacon. I guess that's why everything was separated so they don't have to listen to food restrictions and instead can have the diner pick them off. The surf and turf (Petit filet mignon with scallops) was the only decent part of the meal. When I ordered, the waiter didn't even ask me how I wanted my steak cooked; I had to flag him down and ask. Huge red flag for a fine dining establishment. The filet mignon was cooked to my specification (medium rare) and the scallops were seared perfectly with a sweet clean taste. The asparagus and mashed potatoes were forgettable and inoffensive. The entrees my companions got were also sad-sounding. My friend with the dairy intolerance was told that the Barramundi didn't contain any milk, but the pan sauce clearly had dairy in it. He sent it back and received it sans sauce, but he still took lactose pills as he didn't trust the establishment. His dish's stuffing looked like it would disintegrate into a pile of mush if you looked at it for too long-it was already falling apart by the time it made it to the table. The sides were inadequate. The creamed spinach was disgusting. The consistency reminded me of baby food. There wasn't much flavor. Ruth's Chris does it much, much better. There's a reason why there's a whole bunch of copy-cat recipies for RC and not for Joe Muer. The black truffle mac and cheese was overcooked to a mush, but did have a nice flavor. Usually the dessert is the saving grace of any meal, but the chocolate cake was a tragedy. In an attempt to make the plating look high end, they drizzled it with what tastes like Hershey's chocolate syrup. The frosting tasted like Betty Crocker. I am usually a huge dessert fan, but this just had me sad and dispirited. I have to reassess if the people who recommended this place to me have dentures or weak mouth muscles because half the dishes I tried seems to be catered towards people who like very, very soft foods, not at all what I was expecting from this place.

I have mixed feelings while writing this review. When we walked in, we were warmly greeted and had a very short wait to be seated for our reservation. The ambiance is absolutely beautiful! Dinner off the water during sunset was stunning. Our waitress, Tamika, quickly came over and shared with us the specials for the day and drink recommendations. Our table decided on 3 seafood dishes and 1 steak dish. I'll start with the seafood dishes. Presentation was great, flavors were ok, but we did not feel the taste was up to par with the 5 star dining or prices. We would give the seafood dishes 3.5 - 4 stars. Now on to the steak dish...which was very disappointing. The first steak which was ordered medium temperature came out obviously well done. Not to mention, the waitress brought out the steak without the potatoes because she didn't like they way that they looked and she asked for them to be remade prior to bringing out. When asked for steak to be recooked, it came out a second time medium well to well temp. Once 2nd steak was brought out, the potatoes finally were brought out. I know we were at a seafood restaurant, but a chef at any type of restaurant should know how to cook a steak at a proper temperature. As I mentioned, I have mixed reviews because we have dined here before with a great experience. This visit was during Valentine's weekend, so perhaps the kitchen was overwhelmed.

We came here for my birthday because I wanted a whole steamed lobster and not just the tail (claws are my fav). The view is incredible - the location is in Ren Cen and has a view of the river. It was great to see a few freighters go by. The bread that was served was flavorful, and it came with a side of smoked salmon, some cannelloni beans, and butter. We each got a side salad and an adult beverage. The lobster arrived and I was so excited! The waiter expertly cracked the lobster for us. It was delightful - huge tail and amazing claws! Hubby ordered the key lime dessert - the lime drizzle on it was amazingly tart!

Went here with my company for a work dinner and was very happy with overall service and food. The wagyu short rib was really good and tender. Overall was pleased with the food although it is a bit pricey and not sure if I would go here for myself.

If you'd like to go on the weekend, they only accept reservations through Open Table. Also note, you must input your credit card information in order to solidify said reservation. If for whatever reason you need to cancel outside of the 48 hour window prior to your reservation, it is remarked that you will be charged $50 per person. With that being said .... My reservation was on a Friday night for 2 @ 6:30. We arrived early and were seated right away. The view is beautiful. You can't help but feel like you are a world away from everything else. We barely had a chance to look over the menu when our server arrived and asked if we'd like to start with a cocktail and/or appetizer. We placed our drink order and I made a trip to the bathroom. By the time I got back, the drinks were just being delivered and our overly attentive server asked to take our order. We told him we needed a few minutes. He was back before we knew it and asked if we were ready. We weren't but felt really pressured so lobster bisque was ordered and we added that we'd order once that was delivered but he was PERSISTENT. We quickly answered with which entrees we selected and it felt like he made a mad dash to put the order in. Everyone is very polite but seriously rushed. The minute that soup spoon was put down, they were clearing the bowl. It felt like they couldn't wait to turn the table over, lurking behind you and swooping in. We really couldn't even get conversation in because they were always RIGHT THERE. We weren't even finished when they asked if we'd like boxes for what was left. My 8oz filet was very juicy and tender. The Dover Sole, which was deboned table side, was also enjoyed. Although, the server did so behind our backs so you really couldn't see what was happening. There was ample room in front of us so not sure why it happened that way. Overall, a scrumptious dinner but not as relaxing as we would have liked. When paying those prices, you'd like to be able to sit and savor every last bite but I don't feel that we got that opportunity. Mind you, it was pretty dead by the time we left @ 7:30 so we didn't understand the hurry. The bill was even brought out before we were finished. Beautiful restaurant and view, though. We even saw a rainbow after a brief storm passed through.

Was in Detroit for a weekend getaway and looking for a seafood restaurant to celebrate my birthday, Joe's came up. Food was excellent, service was great. Exactly what you would expect for a high end restaurant. The old fashioned was perfect and the Lobster hit the spot. Definitely worth a special occasion- not to mention the view was perfect.

I wanted to like this more. Summary: you can find a more enjoyable experience for a large party at Red Lobster. I'm sorry. I hope it was just a bad night, I would not return anytime soon Ambiance: it's a nice location that is fairly easy to find. Clean. Nothing crazy or memorable. Customer service: fair. Maybe it was our servers first time with a large group as we had about 15-18 people. Service was attentive with water, but that was the highlight. They were patient but overall average experience. Food: average at best. Starter bread was warm, but nothing memorable. My wedge salad, already an inconvenient way to serve as you have to do all the work yourself. I couldn't finish it. I felt I had to force myself to eat salad which should never be your experience when you pay for your food. Main course took over an hour to get to us and most people enjoyed but wasn't thrilled. We ordered dessert to go and honestly looked like store bought items cut up into thin pieces. Nothing memorable. Not bad. Not great. I don't have much else to say other I wish this was better. This place could do better in every aspect of service and I hope they do. Unfortunately I would not return anytime soon.

We were in town for the Bernina convention and went to Joe's for Happy Hour. Kyle was bartending/serving and delivered a scrumptious Grey Goose martini with three ginormous olives! My colleagues enjoyed the Pinot from Paso Robles. Tasty bites to munch were tacos, sliders and beef satay. We were at the bar and had music from the very talented "piano guy" with view of the water.

We had been at a convention for several days and they hadn't fed us. We discovered the Joe Muer downstairs and HOLY CRAP was I so happy, not only to eat real food, but to indulge in some seriously wonderful food and drink (probably) too many drinks. The truffle fries were crisp and seasoned to perfection, the sliders were meaty and delicious, their beet salad was GIANT and delicious, and their regular burger was probably the best burger I've had. Their staff was super friendly and helpful, they tolerated our group silliness very well. The place was fun and energetic and overall an excellent experience. And then I found out there's one in my town, so... I'll be visiting that one too!!

I'm an avid Joe Muer regular. I have a relative who works there, so I am always getting food from there. As you all know, I'm extremely lactose intolerant but I had to give in to the food here. I got a spicy Bloody Mary. It was delicious. The Bartender, Merv did a great job. The lady got a white wine and it was good. I'm not a big wine guy so I don't have much credibility in that regard, but she really liked it. Today, my date and I went for lunch we were very satisfied. Kyle, our waiter, was just amazing. He knows everything there is to know about waiting a table, truly. He takes care of his guests and has a kind personality. He himself is a "foodie" so he could appreciate how guests like to be taken care of. He did a great job and I highly recommend having him take care of you if you go. We got Oysters and calamari to start. The oysters never fail here- so fresh and rejuvenating. The calamari was not that impressive. I would recommend their fried asparagus instead, it's a 10/10. As someone who has eaten 50+ different calamari's, I would rate this a solid 5/10. It's just not impressive. Aside from that, the oysters are amazing and I enjoyed them. For dinner, we got king crab legs and a New York strip. The king crab legs (1lb) was plenty for two of us. I didn't think it would be enough, but we could hardly eat the steak afterwards. Kyle did a great job preparing the king crab table side for us. He also cut our steak table side. The steak was a tad over cooked but still was great. The dinner itself was amazing. Between the apps, dinner, and service, I give my experiences a 8.75/10. Apps -(6/10) low rating because calamari was not my favorite. Dinner (8/10) king crab was perfect, steak a tad over done. Service (11/10). Kyle was amazing and I will request to be seated at his table next time, as you should too.

Great experience, got there in time before sunset, foods was delicious, our server was amazing and very helpful, our seating had a great view of the river.

We dined here for New Year's Eve dinner and the food was delicious! The margaritas were amazing and the lamb chops were perfect as was the carrot cake. Our server, Zack seemed overwhelmed but even in that, was extremely attentive. At the end of the meal, our credit cards were taken and we were on our way to celebrate the rest of 2023 when the manager of the restaurant called to say our credit cards were not swiped. You can imagine our surprise. With identity theft at an all time high, what on earth did they do with our credit cards for over ten minutes. Not only that, they returned our cards with a receipt. So where the ball was dropped, I'm still unsure. The worst part was the manager's attitude and delivery on the phone call was accusatory, as if everyone in our party was at fault for their obvious mistake! The message he left is saved to my voicemail as evidence of the egregious tone of voice. He threatened to charge the card that made the reservation would be charged if we did not call him back within five minutes. Instead of owning their mistake and offering an explanation as to why our credit cards were held for an extended amount of time and no charges were made, we were made to be the culprits, which is the furthest from the truth possible. Needless to say there was no apology for their negligence and this was our first and last time dining at this establishment. My advice for future patrons is to pay in cash.

Really nice ambiance, especially around December because they have lots of Christmas trees and wreaths around the restaurant. Service was good, I didn't experience any issues Food was very good, no complaints Mac and cheese was good, asparagus was good, and we really enjoyed the truffle fries. They also had a gluten free torte so that was nice. Good view of the water and Canada

Love the vibe in this restaurant. On the pricier side, but definitely worth the experience. Would not get the fried calamari again, however. It tasted very over cooked. The sushi is immaculate (very impressive for a non-asian restaurant). The fish tastes extremely fresh. Would 100% get again. The fries are great too!! And they give a large portion. If you're celebrating a birthday & they'll provide a complimentary coconut cake!

Been coming here quite often the last few years and always consistently quality experience. Friendly staff and amazing food and atmosphere. Recently tried their oysters Rockefeller and Waygu short rib and executive shrimp. The oysters were such a good size I feel like most places are usually on the smaller side. And for the dinner, just wow some of the most tender, delicious meat definitely recommend trying it!

Professional and prompt service with a beautiful location on the Detroit river. Only complaint is that the scallops didn't have a crust on the outside and not much flavor.

Tuesday 5pm. Early dinner for six of us. Made reservation few days earlier and had to pay deposit of $350 if booking for a party of more than 6. I initially booked for 8 but 2 did not make it. However, deposit gets credited to the final bill. Everything was good. Bread served before anything, fried calamari, scallops, stone crab claws and lobster tail! Oh I don't have photo of the dessert but the coconut cream cake was really good. Server was really attentive and gave super nice recommendations. We were also seated by the glass window facing the river looking at the Canada side. Great service, great food and great atmosphere. I would recommend this place if you had to impress someone. However, it comes with price. It always does.

Amazing crab and other good food best restaurant you can go to in Detroit and the service is great

Everything was great. The service could have been better but the ambiance / food was great. Pricey but worth it. I sat at the bar. Make sure your waitress is attentive, mine wasn't and they add the gratuity on your bill. I didn't like that because she wasn't worth the 20-22%. ‍

First things first: Katrina was very polite, sweet, professional!! Waitress Strike 1) We were there for a special occasion. 7 of us. We were THE FIRST!! people there, first reservations. We were lied to about not getting a window water view " that's for smaller parties ". Over the next hour we saw 2 parties exactly the same size. Strike 2) the last time we went here, a bottle of wine was not available, but another was recommended: $300!! Vs $75. THE SAME STRATEGY AGAIN: $75 bottle wasn't available, but a similar recommended $250 was!! At least THIS TIME, They told us the price. Strike 3) my daughter asked for a medium plus steak. It came out like a hockey puck..grey well done. We were not asked if everything was ok for 15 minutes and our waitress was busy. By the time it got fixed and returned by a manager, half of the plates had been removed by staff. And take home bags were placed on our table!!TERRIBLE!!! And the mgr did not even wait to see if temperature was ok. As well, my perch was way over battered, soft and warm, potatoes room temperature. I love the view, I loved the IDEA of the old Joe Muers with the relish trays, fresh lightly battered perch, etc. but this is NOT the old days. Won't be going back. Too many other choices.

I meannnnnn, i like what Drake likes! The downtown detroit location did not disappoint! The live music was perfect, with a remarkable view overlooking the river and Canada! I ordered a steak! It was delicious, perfectly prepared! The staff is polite and kind! I made wonderful friends just by sitting at the bar! I will certainly return!

Everything about our evening at Joe Muir's was excellent. It has good ambience and our server Kyle, was superb. Everything we had from hors d'oeuvres to the main meal to the dessert were delicious .

Ate here last night to celebrate a special occasion. The views at this downtown location are great - overlooking the Detroit River from the Renaissance Center. We started out sharing the Deviled Snow Crab Balls ($18.00), which had a mustard sauce. they were very good - well-formed and with not too much breading. We next each had the Lobster Bisque ($12.00), which was flavorful and silky smooth, with a couple of chunks of lobster meat in the center of the bowl. They also serve their "famous" bean salad, which I've always been fond of. I had the Barramundi, which was baked, topped with breaded lobster and crab and served on a bed of haricot verts and baby carrots ($42.00). It was a very large portion, although I found the topping to be more breading than shellfish and somewhat bland. My better half had the 10 oz. South African lobster tail ($100.00), which was served over a bed of mashed potatoes and asparagus spears. She found the lobster to be somewhat rubbery and I had to agree that it lacked much of the sweetness that one would expect from fresh lobster. While our service was very attentive at the beginning, once we had ordered, it diminished considerably. Our waiter was nice, but seemed somewhat inexperienced, and was often MIA. We had to corral a busboy to get fresh side plates and to get our waters refilled. While there seemed to be a manager in a suit walking around, I never saw him interact with any of the diners by stopping at the tables, and he really didn't seem to be paying attention to the customers, which I found disappointing. At the end, because of the special occasion, our waiter brought us a complimentary miniature coconut cake, which was excellent. Overall, while not a terrible experience, I expected a bit more from a place that holds itself out as a high-end dining establishment. With only a single cocktail and no wine (I don't drink), the bill came to approximately $250.00 with tip (a 20% gratuity was automatically added to the bill, which I found a bit presumptuous, although I generally tip that amount even if the meal doesn't enthrall me). At that price, there are several other local restaurants which, while not having the stunning view, serve up what I believe is a consistently better caliber of food which is, after all, what I really come out for.

My wife and I have dined at Joe Muer's on several occasions and decided to have our anniversary dinner here off the water at the Downtown Detroit location. We were quickly seated for our 5pm reservation. Cocktail menu is extensive as I had a old fashioned and my wife a side car martini. Both were excellent. For our appetizer, we decided on the deviled crab balls and lobster corn dogs. Crab balls were fresh and the corn dogs were surprisingly tasty. They are heavily battered but the fresh lobster combines the flavors very well. For our entrees, I had the Waygu New York strip. I've had it before and steak is always my go to. I would highly recommend. My wife decided on the king crab leg, lobster tail and scallops platter that is off the menu. The waiter deshells the crab table side. All the seafood tasted very fresh. The atmosphere and service here is always up to par. Joe Muers will continue to be a staple in our fine dining rotation. Cheers.

Good food and service. -2 stars for the automatic 20% tip they add to everyone's bill without informing us. I really hate when restaurants do this. It makes me feel similar to how big-box retailers check my bag before I depart the store to make sure I'm not stealing anything. I don't need any help to do the right thing, thanks. If Joe Muer's wants to pay their employees a guaranteed wage then they should just transparently increase their prices by 20% and say "tips are included", and then let the customer decide if they support this system.

Such a pretty restaurant and very clean. Food was good we would give it an 8/10. The only thing was the temperature of the food was just warm but great

my boyfriend and i went here for dinner tonight for my birthday, i got the special they were having filet and tail with a salad and dessert for 95$, great deal.... service was awful, waited 25 minutes to be greeted, wish i was being dramatic but we got sat at 7:35 and didn't get waited on until 8, waited 15 minutes for bread and or alcoholic bevs, we ordered right when she came back, steak came out medium well closer to well waited another 25 just to hear back from her, brought out another plate and the steak was rare... we had to ask others for our server because she kept skipping us, my boyfriend doesn't eat without me and so his food was cold and honestly, just order carry out...... dessert was nasty and nothing was comped paid 205$ for an awful experience and food to recook at home....

Really nice restaurant, fine dining, with great service. Oven Roasted Barramundi was picture perfect and unique. With lobster + crab stuffing, honey carrots, haricot vert (fancy French green beans), and black garlic. The fish was cooked perfectly and I loved the sauce. My only critique is that I wished the stuffing was a little crispier and more browned up. It was a little on the moist side for my liking. - Hour Detroit 2022 Best of Detroit: Voted #1 for Restaurant with a view! - We sat outside for our date night and had a wonderful view of Canada and the Detroit River. Definitely recommend the patio. It's very entertaining for people watching

The service was excellent but the halibut was tough and over cooked and the presentation of both of our $50+ meals was less than you'd expect in a diner. The pricely lemon martini was mediocre. It was SO disappointing - we didn't even stay for dessert. Never going to waste over $200 on a meal there again.

Everything was top shelf. Great food, drink, and service. I highly recommend the Oysters Rockefeller.

To whom it may concern, I am not one to leave reviews, but felt it necessary. Joe Muer is hands down the best restaurant in Detroit. I prefer their steak over the other higher end steak houses in the area. Also, the seafood is heavenly. Joe Muer has excellent service as the waiters and waitresses pay high attention to details and accommodate every request I have made. The ambiance is also great with many windows viewing the Detroit river and bordering country. I highly recommend the mashed potatoes or Mac and cheese as an appetizer. Also, they are the only restaurant in the area that I can think of that offers stone crab claws. If you have never had claws, they are life changing. Overall, if I had one last meal request. It would be a wonderful dinner from Joe Muer!!! Five stars isn't enough.

We enjoyed the food and service. The salad was delicious with an interesting combination of yellow and red beets. It was so good that I forgot to take a picture .

Greetings and salutations yelpers. On a recent trip to Detroit needed a dinner quickly before our concert. Decided to visit Joe as it was conveniently located in our hotel. First, glad we dressed for the concert. Dress code is above casual so be prepared. As it was last minute no availability inside but we were available to be seated outside. A bit chilly but we had our pashminas and sweaters. The view of the Detroit River is lovely and you can see across to Windsor Canada. Our wait staff was unbelievably. She was extremely pleasant, engaging and knowledgeable. She totally sold us on the special. Btw that bill was beyond special but totally worth it. The seafood was fresh and delicious. The drinks amazing and the ambience wonderful. Highly recommend and would return when back again in Detroit.

I went for my birthday in March and I have to say I don't know why it took me so long to get here. Their food options are amazing. Service was amazing and I was able to look at the Detroit river while listening to nice music. I recommend.

Overall amazing! The view of the river, the staff and the food were all top notch. Amazing pork chop, great vegan options and the best fish and chips ever!

Overall I give my experience 3 stars. Definitely not at the top of the leader board in terms of true fine dining experiences. First they remind you everywhere about the dress code which we made sure to adhere to but then we arrived and saw a man in cargo shorts. So it's clearly not as enforced as they want you to think. Then all the parking garages and valet were full at 7:30. So we had to park away from the restaurant and then walk a block, not ideal in heels. When you spend this much on a meal you would think not having to worry about parking would be nice. Food was good. Nothing insanely good. The staff was also just okay. No one really went out of there way to make our experience great. We waited 20 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. Also not expecting that. I would call this place modestly nice dining with a view. Not true fine dining. The hostess who greeted us was snooty. The one with the great makeup. Request a table against the window overlooking the water, best part about this place.

Lose your shitty ass dress code. This is Detroit not Manhattan. You wont let us in to spend $300+ why because of a jacket? Figure it out.

If I could give zero star I would. Bridget was our waitress. We sat at window table 107. I ordered 8 oz filet and lobster tail. Bridget rang in crab leg which is more expensive than lobster tail. Steak was brought out advised I ordered the lobster not the crab. Asst Manager was making jokes stating they were catching the lobster. My steak became cold waiting; my wife's food was out and hot. No choice but to eat her food while I waited. We were able to eat dessert together. $504.00 total bill w gratuity. The $5.00 addtl for the crab leg I did not order and was taken back was not taken off the bill. When you spend $504.00 on a meal it should be perfect. All the food arriving to the table at the same time for the entire table of two. The food should all be warm. I could understand if I were waiting on a lobster tail at Red Lobster, a manager make the comment they are fishing for it. This was a cluster. They didn't offer to do anything.

Ambiance was nice, our view of the water was amazing. Food was decent but way too overpriced.
