The place was dirty. The sugar & cream caddy were disgusting. Food was ok at best. Good pancakes and sausage. Bacon, eggs, and hash browns passable. Only excepts cash (hiding money?). Woman waiting the tables never smiled never checked on us to discover the eggs were fried instead of scrambled. VERY UNFRIENDLY STAFF.

This is an old school mom & pop type place that has breakfast and lunch items with Formica counters and really tasty food. The family that runs it seem to be a bit older, but are very kind and attentive. You'll have an excellent experience and leave with a satisfied stomach if you eat here.

Strawberry waffle literally tastes like a warm hug. Got the eggs, bacon and waffle combo and added strawberries and whipped cream. Really nice local place! Hidden gem in the city.

Don’t listen to Judy - this is a fabulous no flair breakfast spot with some of the nicest folks you’ll meet in the city. Best greasy spoon diner you’re going to find for a reasonable price - always friendly staff, and the food is quick and hot. Always come here when you want the classics. In a city that is so overrun with restaurants trying to reinvent the wheel, it’s nice to have a place you can rely on in the neighborhood.

Sometimes you don’t want a fancy brunch place where they serve deconstructed matcha pancakes or some other dish designed to appeal to IG than your tastebuds. Sometimes you just want pancakes with eggs, sausage, and hash browns served at a local no-frills diner run by a friendly elderly couple. And you’re safe in knowing that it may not be fancy, but it’s more delicious than what a lot of fancy places are serving for much higher prices.

A local guru of cheap and worth it, took me out for breakfast to Joe's. Miss Becky was our server and hostess, she was very gentil and the food was excellent; and indeed, the prices are great for SF! It is so quaint, a true hidden gem🥰🕊️♻️

One day, I need to go to Golden Gate Park for a morning event. Then, I found this place open early in the morning. Because not so many brunch places open that early. This restaurant is small, but service is nice and food is okay. If you need to stop by around Golden Gate Park area and need early breakfast, I would recommend this place.

This place is all about no frills, and that is totally okay. The food is good, the prices are quite reasonable, and it's a place where you can chill. Not a lot of seating and cash only.

The food is always delicious, it's run by a very kind older couple. Definitely has an old-school field to it and fair prices, highly recommend.

Lived in SF all my life (Sunset district) and never been here before. For good reason, as it's a tiny hole in the wall that can't fit more than 20 people (including bar seating). Their largest table fits 4 and is the only one to do so, meaning seating is very limited to small parties. However, i deeply regret not coming here sooner. We ordered the Western Cheese Omlette and Joe's Special, and both were fantastic. Very hearty but not overly filling. Most of the breakfast/specials come with a side of hash browns and your choice of toast, making those orders quite worth the price. They also mix their American menu with some Chinese food (won ton soup and Chow mein). Just make sure you have cash to pay, since they're cash only. If you're fine with simple diner food and want to support a small local family business, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Joe's is one of my favorite breakfast spots in the city. Great food, great service and surprisingly solid pricing (cash only). Joe's is a small hole in the wall, so don't expect any sort of special ambiance - just a classic diner feel.

A sucker for hot cakes having short stack of 2 or more or Joe's special. A no thrills diner regarding ambiance that is packed usually. A simple mom & pop spot but never disappoint. Coffee is refilled accordingly. Diners r disappearing w/in each generation & used to flourish all over the neighborhood. Miz Brown's, Sugar Plum, Zim's, Foster's, Video Cafe, Louis's, Seal Rock's & so many others.

Quaint dinner setup in the Richmond district for breakie. The owner Joe has been around before the 89' quake! Definitely a rare place to find now and days. Careful parking out front. Who would've thought street cleaning on a Sunday (Thanks Joe) Cash only, you can have omelets your way at request, bottomless coffee, and the blue berry pancakes are really packed with berries all over

Great hole-in-the-wall/hidden gem for breakfast. We've been coming here for more than 20 years. We were seated as soon as we entered the coffee shop. Today I had the two eggs, hash brown potatoes and toast. Hubby had pancakes and coffee. Service is extremely efficient, food is great, waitress is friendly, dishes come out from the kitchen very briskly.

Hole in the wall- wouldn't have given it a second look. But honestly best valued breakfast I've had in San Francisco. Good old diner food- eggs made to order, pancakes, waffles, hash browns. Excellent service! They are so fast and the food is top notch.

Food is typical but good; we've had breakfast and lunch here. It's an old Pizza Hut building, I think. This place is packed every time we go. Sometimes we wait 5 minutes, sometimes it's 30! The waitresses are all friendly, some with sort of a "greasy-spoon" attitude, but all endearing. We eat here often.

Great ambiance really does feel like an all American diner. Apple juice was really really good.

Anyone who rates this less than 5 is a snob. Having the owner keep a close eye on your coffee and bringing more without saying a word is a level of diner service that people forget in a world of $20 avocado toast. The omeletes, pancakes and French toast are excellent. If you appreciate a good diner, you'll love it. If you're looking for a trendy brunch spot, go somewhere else. That'll just leave a seat for me.

Cute hole in the wall diner. Got take out from here a couple of months ago. Prices are VERY reasonable. You can get a full breakfast for less than 10 bucks. There's something for everyone.

The best bargain for breakfast or lunch anywhere in today's inflationary cloud. A dive looking spot from the outside but boy was I surprised. It was an early Sunday morning & I was craving for pancakes like the one's I used to have Sunday morning @ grandma's after church. I had the 3 pancakes w/coffee & was already full after the 2nd one & force down the final one. Next time only 2 pancakes & noticed what others nearby was ordering. Their omelettes, hash browns & french toast is next on my list. The total bill out the door was $12.95 excluding tip, ru serious? I'll be Terminator back for more stacks. They also serve some Chinese dishes but not likely b/c I eat Asian food 60% of the year & on the other side of the coin. I enjoy a good old American breakfast that now only fill my stomach but my heart. Thanks to Joe's Coffee Shop & I will be back.

My kinda place. Not fancy at all but good old basic, cheap breakfast. Had an omelette with hash browns and coffee. As basic as it gets but just right. I'll be back

This place is so freakin' cute in a non-frills way. It's like if your Canto parents opened a breakfast diner and ran it as the neighborhood mom & pop shop that only the locals know about. I love it. Plain, simple menu with everything you need. Sit at the counter and watch the mom take care of business. Glance to the right and watch the dad crack eggs and flip hash on the grill. That's all you need on a weekend morning.

Love this place forever! The best service and classic nostalgia diner vibes. Hella yummy pancakes and strong black coffee with refills. If you are looking for unpretentious vibes and a delicious hearty breakfast, come here!

Just had breakfast here and was served an omelette that was not cooked fully, unfortunately ate a little before I realized and have now been in the bathroom for an hour. Hate to write this review but couldn't find a phone number for this place at all to let them know.

Ever since I moved to New York I've been looking for a good old school diner - and this fits the bill! Personally this is what I look for when I visit a diner: - Cheap: Should be able to get a decent meal for a couple of bucks. Burnt diner coffee is $1.85 with refills! Whoot! - Unpretentious/slightly rundown: No beautiful hipster aesthetics here, but good greasy spoon food. You can tell this place has been around the block but it's still going on strong. - Strong customer support: Vicky, the owner, is this older Asian lady that knows her customers and all their owners. She might not always be smiling, but she definitely has the memory of an elephant! ... and Joe's Coffee Shop fits all of this! I got the Corned Beef Hash and my friend got the Western Omelette. We were both extremely pleased. The Corned Beef Hash has that nostalgic feeling to it - it has a slightly mushy inside texture with a nice crispy exterior. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the toasted was definitely buttered. The Omelette was great as well! Loaded with ingredients and extremely cheesy. Will definitely be back!

Sometimes you just want an old fashioned pancake breakfast. You don't want some hipster version of it or some stupid deconstructed version of it. You just want it the original way and you want it done well. My brother and I stopped by for pancakes and the usual egg with bacon for him and sausage for me. Did not know what to expect. We were both blown away by how the cook got it so right. Pancakes were light, eggs cooked perfectly, and the hash browns! Just the right combo of crispy exterior and warm soft interior. Yes the place could probably use a makeover but it's got an old school neighborhood diner charm to it that is genuine. Some of the best food is served in the most humble of places. Joe's Coffee Shop is one of those places. So going back again

Its been a while seen I've been to Joe's coffee shop or as I call it Vicky's place. When I lived in San Francisco this was the place to go. I used to come for breakfast at least once a week. Now I visit whenever I am in the area and feel like having a hearty breakfast. The place is very small and old fashion. It's a wonderful little place. The food is really good. Joe's coffee shop is owned by a very nice older couple. This place has been here for over twenty five years if not more. Their hours are 7am until 3pm and there located at 6134 Geary Blvd, San Francisco. The parking can be difficult at times but it's worth it. Do remember Cash only. And bring quarters for parking. I was recently in the area running errands and wanted to get myself a drink. I went into Joe's and asked the women behind the counter if I could buy a bottle of water. I also asked if I could use the restroom. She said to me, "NO!" and walked away from me to the back in the kitchen. She never came back with the bottle of water I ordered. She was very rude and dismissive toward me, a paying customer. I realize i was not a full meal ordering customer, but this was not way to treat a potential returning future customer. I will not be returning to this establishment, nor will I recommend this place to any of my friends. Do not eat at this establishment, go elsewhere for friendly and courteous professional customer service.

I decided to give this place a shot for breakfast. The decor isn't impressive or modern, but it does represent what a diner should feel like. I appreciate the simplistic menu, and the cheap prices. Everything is pretty much under ten dollars. Upon walking through the front door, I wasn't greeted with friendliest of welcomes, but I was at least acknowledged and told where to sit. The only two sentences we exchanged were, "what kind of toast did you want", and "thank you" after I paid for my meal. I can see why people may get offended and say service is horrible, but they just want to serve you food, not have a full blown conversation with you. Ain't nobody got time for that. The food made its way out quickly. It wasn't the best omelette I've ever had, but it was good. The hash browns were excellent. They were seasoned perfectly and very crispy. All in all, if I were ever in the neighborhood for breakfast, I would come back. I wouldn't necessarily bring a date here though. Most of the people in here were eating alone, probably before heading to work.

This is a straight-up diner - good food at good prices with minimal frills. Don't expect much sunshine from the counter lady, but the food is worth the trip - best cholesterol attack in the outer Richmond.

Great customer service, 100% recommend pulling up to get some quality coffee. Joes coffee is the place to be. Don't waste your money at the starbucks in target.

Just under $10 for 2 bacon, 2 eggs, 2 sourdough, hash browns. Not some super fancy, thick cut bacon kind of place, but definitely tasty. A good value. Open during shelter-in-place. Support them!

Hidden little hole in the wall with great food. The interior isn't much to look at and there isn't a lot of space but you are attendee promptly, food is made to order and served quickly. Drink refills a plenty. I felt like I was at my mom's house while having my meal, it's not very organized behind the counter but it gives you that home feeling. At least for me it did. I had the Joe's scramble. Mushrooms, spinach, ground beef scrambled in eggs. Very tasty. Hash browns were great. This place only takes cash but there are ATMs close by in case you don't have cash on you. I'd return.

Seems like this mom and pop place has mixed reviews but I wanted to give it a try anyway since I was craving an omelet. I had the Western Cheese Omelete and it was pretty good. It was not huge, but filling and appropriate for the price. It came with crispy hash browns. I also tried the waffle hoping it would be like an old fashioned waffle but it was semi dry. Contrary to another review, I was given ice water. Don't expect fancy decor or royal service and you'll be fine. Cash only.

JOE'S!! A hole in the wall gem with classic breakfast foods (eggs, hash browns, waffles and pancakes). The space is small so it can sometimes get a little crowded, but turnover is very fast due to how speedy the service is. I dream about the hash browns! Corned beef hash is also excellent, as are the pancakes. Cash only!

Joe's is the breakfast diner sublimer! This is as basic as American-style breakfast gets, in a good way. Eggs your way, crispy shredded hash-browns, pancakes and coffee, resting on a 1950's tabletop, in minutes. This morning the service was no-nonsense, the pancakes above average and the prices unbeatable. With one waitperson and a guy on the griddle (for roughly 16 seats total:), the small shop runs as smooth as clockwork and is well frequented. Our order arrived quickly, was piping hot and cooked exactly as requested. The pancakes stand out as being somewhat superior while all else was solid, standard but well-executed diner fare. Subsequent service was nothing to complain about and the atmosphere was comfy-cozy. For a good old-fashioned diner breakfast bring your CASH ONLY to Joe's on Geary!

This is a classic greasy spoon diner. But it's in San Francisco, so you've got the Asian lady working the counter, whom all the regulars know, and you've got CNBC playing on the TV screen. It's the kind of place you can sit and have coffee and breakfast for hours, people watch, and know there's way more than meets the eye at Joe's. Love this place!

I needed to take my company car for a necessary oil-change to the Jiffy Lube on Geary and 25th avenue. Therefore I came here for my breakfast while my car is being maintained, which is located just up the block. The outer-Richmond district and Chinese owned coffee shop is also not a big spot. But looking at the menu posted on the window, the meals for both breakfast and lunches are affordable. From the menu, I had the Joe's Scramble. For $6.70, I get bits of cooked ground beef, onions, spinach and cheese in an omelet. I also get hash browns and a side of (sourdough) toast with my meal. For the price, this is a very hearty meal with all the ingredients blended well to form a tasty omelet. This place is "cash only." The workers and chef are extremely friendly too. I'm not sure if they have a lavatory for customers. And I ate my meal with dirty hands. So bring a hand-sanitizer. I don't go out to the outer-Richmond often, but this coffee-shop is absolutely a good find.

Joe's has been my go to breakfast place for years. The food is so good. With Covid, they have done everything they can to deliver good food. I recommend this restaurant if you would like good food at good prices.

New Year's Day first meal of 2021 at Joe's which worked out great for us. Solid old school diner classics like pancakes, bacon and eggs. Nothing sloppy here, the guy knows how to cook eggs and the pancakes were thick and fluffy. Never knew this place existed until this morning. Actual mom and pop joint. Customer service was good and seemed like the regulars keep this spot in business. I will attempt to attain regular status.

Love coming here for a late breakfast on weekends! Everything feels very homely and the prices are reasonable for a breakfast place. Not too many tables, so you might have to wait/get a table at the bar. It's CASH ONLY.

I walked over to this place, looked inside, and almost walked out. Looked like a typical greasy spoon with greasy spoon food. Since I was there, decided to stay. Glad I did. The food was good. Better than I expected. The coffee was good. I was surprised. I had the corned beef hash, hash browns, eggs breakfast. Corned beef was tasty. The hash browns, cooked to perfection. No complaints. Price was right. I'll be back for sure.

AFAIK, this is the only place in the city where you can get some eggs, sausage, bacon + toast/pancake/waffle for around ~$10, and sometimes under $10. And the food actually taste OK! No wonder they get crowded on the weekend even in a relatively slow neighborhood. Note, they are cash-only. I forgot about this once and fortunately the owner lady let me leave while being $1 short. I was ready to do some dishes though. 5-stars.

Simple place to grab breakfast. Your traditional American no foo foo breakfast. I normally order one of two things Cornbeef hash and eggs Two eggs and sausage Eat, have some coffee, and then start your day. Feels like an old school diner.

Good hashbrowns are hard to find in this town, but you'll find them at Joe's. Great old school diner that only serves the basics, but does them well. Perfect for those weekend mornings when you want to get out for breakfast but don't want to deal with the crowds.

Such a great little diner in the Richmond that has a cozy vibe and is clearly a staple for locals in the neighborhood. A little mom n pop operation that runs like a well oiled machine, even when it's busy. Great comfort food and great portions for the price.

The people who say that this place is awesome, obviously have been deprived of awareness. In the food industry, service is the number one criteria over the food. Or at least, the food should be incredibly delicious to trump service. It doesn't even do that, not even close. The lady is sooo rude and - I'm sad to say this word in 2019 - such a 'racist'. She chooses who she wants to smile at, give impeccable service to, not throw silverware to, have chit chat with, or just be- plain nice (which should be normal) to customers. Coming here is not worth the hurt you will feel after breakfast being singled out as an outsider in your own country. She gives you negative vibes. Did I mention, the food is really not that good.. eat here at your own positive outlook in life's expense! Or don't and save yourself from greasy, unhealthy food!

CASH ONLY! BEWARE (As is with most Chinese places, no surprise). Hole-in-the-wall place (not in a good way). No ice water, no ice tea. Literally the only thing to drink is coffee and room temperature canned soda. I haven't even got my food yet and I already hate this place. Waiter is so unattentive. Walks the fuck away while you're in the middle of saying your order or requesting for things. I'm all up for mom and pop places and hole in the walls, because I don't like bougie overpriced hipster food that's taken over most of the bay and especially sf, but this is terrible food. There is no love in the food like mom and pop places. There is a huge difference between good cheap food made with care and love and cheap food that is absolutely shit made without any care and the latter is what type of food you can expect here. Fake butter, hard crispy overcooked ass waffles, cheap looking omelet with generic store bought brand sausage, rubbery ass toast. Seriously, this is not even homemade food, it's semi homemade food assembly with cheap garbage. ARE ALL THE PEOPLE GIVING THIS PLACE FOUR OR MORE STARS ON DRUGS OR SOMETHING? I BET THEY ARE THE SAME TYPE OF PEOPLE THAT WOULD TALK SHIT ABOUT SOMEONE GOING TO MCDONALD'S. Please, this place doesn't even serve real food, and it's faker than McDonald's. This is definitely not what locals come to, those who are saying this are DEFINITELY transplants. My friends and I never come here and we lived in SF/the bay all our lives. I am not kidding, McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, Ihop or pretty much any other chain is much better than this and you will be better off going to any one of them for breakfast than to come here. Not just the offensive fake food, but the horrible treatment you get from the people working here should be enough for anyone to steer away. Oh! And finally... The portions aren't even big. Pssh, y'all must be on some fucking diet to call these portions big (and, no, I am not overweight or obese, just someone who knows what's big portion and what's small). Swear, most of these people don't know what a real mom and pop place is. And really finally. They obviously don't give a fuck about their reviews or what anyone says. Unlike some dumbasses, one time is enough for me here and I rather stab myself than ever come to this business again.

Standard breakfast. Food is okay. Pretty bland but not horrible. The place is really small and was busy on the Saturday I came. The waitress/owner wasn't very welcoming and took others orders before ours even though we got there first. They must have been repeat/regular customers. Nevertheless, that was really off-putting and there wasn't anything special that would make me want to return again. Especially with all the good food options with better service nearby.

Exactly what I was looking for on a sunny weekend morning! There was surprisingly no wait around noon, but the place was definitely pretty full. It's a classic diner with a no-frills breakfast menu. I ordered one of their omelettes which came with the *best* hash browns. Their coffee was surprisingly good as well. The service was really fast and they kept on coming with the coffee refills :D Also- FYI this place is cash only.
