Joe's Crab Shack

Food was amazing. Kids loved theirs. We got the fish tacos and a shrimp poboy. The kids got a captains catch (mozz stick, fried shrimp, fish finger) everything was cooked to perfection.

This is my first time to this location. The food was on oar with other Joe's I've been to. The service was good and the staff was friendly. The standout thing here is the location, right on the waterfront. They also have both inside and outside seating which is a plus in my book

Delicious food. Awesome kid-friendly and clean atmosphere. Our server, Jesse, was very attentive. We had a great time & would love to come back again. No complaints.

First time eating here, and we were very pleased. The service was attentive, prompt and accurate. The restaurant itself is funky and cool with a fun vibe. It sits right on the lagoon, and there is outside seating and a kids’ playground. My wife had fish and chips, which she declared very good; the portion was quite large, and she barely finished half. (Those reviews declaring that the “portions were small” are ridiculous, especially ones which show photos of plates piled high with food) I had the cheeseburger, which came with a side of excellent cole slaw and delicious pickle slices, as well as seasoned fries. The burger was served on a toasted brioche roll, a nice touch. Both dishes came with fries, which were OK and a bit soggy. If they were crisp, it would be awesome. We had a coupon for a free appetizer of the day, which was a tasty crab and cheese dip served with chips. A young man in the “Welcome” booth just outside the entrance offered us the coupon. Overall it was a fun and delicious lunch; we’re locals and so will definitely return. The only (slight) negative was that the background music was a bit too loud, but it wouldn’t prevent us from returning.

The Joe's Classic boil was very good. I got the Old Bay seasoning and mild spice level, but it still had a little kick. I thought it was cooked perfectly. Our server was quick and helpful, we did not wait long for drinks or food. It was a good girls night dinner.

Party of 11 (4 adults, 2 teens, 5 under age 10) Staff was efficient, friendly, & patient. The food was amazing. THE BIGGEST THANKS to Brandy. She wasn't our waitress, but when our autistic son was crying and we were just about to pack our food to go and leave she stopped by our table to let us know she understands and asked if she could offer anything to help. She even let us know she would happily take our son around the restaurant with her if she could. Because of Brandy, we will absolutely will be back next year during our vacation. THANK YOU ❤️❤️

Friendly service, great view, and atmosphere. The shrimp sampler was enjoyable. It was nice having a non- fried option! It was plentiful with robust flavors. Asparagus.. let me just say, absolutely delish, I wish I had more! It was great to see a steamed shrimp option for kids, as was my kiddo. She loved it. There is an outdoor closed in playground which our little ones enjoyed while we awaited our food.

It's a fun place to eat. With lots of memorabilia and funny signs on the walls. Seating is standard seafood style restaurant. Open areas to look out on the water. My wife and I stopped for a quick bite on my birthday. We were greeted and seated quickly and very pleasantly. Our server was quickly there to take our order. He was just outstanding from the get-go. Friendly and funny. Incredibly knowledgeable of the menu and gave us great recommendations. Nick is a reason to go back just for the kind of service every restaurant should have. I just can't say enough nice things about this young person. My family owned restaurants and servers like this were treated like family. We order our drinks cocktails for my wife and rootbeer for myself. Both were just perfect. We ordered the fried shrimp and the Crab stuffed mushrooms. The shrimp were one of the best I've ever tasted. Nick informed us the chef had recently changed the seasoning and wow. Out of this world. The mushrooms were delicious. Cheesy and gooey filled with chunks of crab absolutely delicious. Nick kept our drinks topped up and our experience one to remember. Had not expected to have had that much fun. Will definitely be back. But only when Nick's working hahaha. Thank you locals

The waiter was very nice and attentive. I can't believe this restaurant is part of Landry's. I ordered calamari and received breaded rubber bands. They made a fresh batch and much better. Then my main meal was the lobster tails, what an insult, it was overcooked, rubbery just awful. The waiter felt so bad returned it was not edible could not get the knife to cut thru. Sorry I came here and I was so excited to eat here.

Summary - definitely a place to check out. Cost is on high end, but inline with local pricing. Food tastes great and fun place to dine! My family and I made 6pm reservations yesterday, for today. When we arrived at 6pm, our table was waiting for us even though there was a line out the door! I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered our drinks right away and didn't wait to long before placing our meal order. We got the sampler appetizer. It was ok. The chips were a bit stale, but the crab bites were delicious. I ordered the spicy shrimp Mac and cheese and it was really good. It also had sausage in it - so be aware if you are meatless. The pasta was spicy but not overly so. My sister ate the chili lime shrimp and loved it. The boils are plentiful as well. One person in our party was both gluten and dairy free and their options were very limited. Lots of gluten free - but they apparently put butter on basically everything so hard to find something that doesn't. She ended up getting grilled fish and rice and said it was "dry," which makes sense since there was no butter alternate in the dish. All in all we were happy with the experience. The decor is fun - looks like you are in a real crab shack somewhere. Cost is definitely above average, but in line with what local restaurants are charging around here.

My family and I were craving crab so we hit this spot, not quite sure what we were going to get. It's a very corporate vibe but fun enough with lots of kitsch. Service was also very corporate but fun with our server unapologetically carding my over 50 year old husband for a drink. The food was good if not a little skimpy on the crab.

We had an amazing dinner here tonight. The crab and shrimp dip was great. Flounder and shrimp amazing. Crab cake seafood platter also amazing. Service was great and it's right on the water with a great view.

I would love to say that Jacki our server/bartender was amazing. We were there for vacation last week on Tuesday 2 Dec 2025 and she made sure we had everything we needed and it made our experience exceptional! I highly recommend this restaurant especially when she is working!

I cannot say enough good things about our experience. It had been raining previously but by the time we arrived at the restaurant the rain had stopped. Our youngest granddaughter, two years old, wanted to play on the slides and gym set they had outside by the eating area. Although the eating area is covered the gym said it's not so it was wet. I asked our server for some towels so we could try it off she said she would bring them out. Few minutes later not only did she bring the towels out but she walked straight over there instead of to our table and begin drying off the slides. Wow!!!!!! Seriously, How often are you going to find employees this amazing? In addition even though we were the only people outside, she was on the ball and our glasses were never empty. That's a pet peeve of mine. The food was great and there was tons of it. We all had a fantastic time and a lot of that was due to our amazing server. I'd give six stars if I could.

Do yourself a favor. JUST DO NOT DO IT.. Sitting here blown away at just how horrible this place has become. The food is horrible and are you kidding me these prices for this. No way to eat the crab legs. No butter. Just a really expensive waste of time.

Joe's Crab Shack never disappoints! This was our first time dining here as a big group (party of 8), and our server Brianna absolutely crushed it; friendly, attentive, and didn't miss a single beat. The food hit the spot (those shrimp were ), and the atmosphere made the night even better. We loved watching the attractions on the water while the evening lights came alive. Great food, fun vibes, and top-tier service, definitely coming back!

To start off the food was amazing. We had the sea food boil joes and it was the best we had. Don't even get me started with our sever she was the best. Thank you Angela L! The place is lovely look clean and the music isn't to loud.

The service was ok. He was trying hard...food was mediocre. I ordered the half pound cold shrimp and all of it still had poop in it and they were fairly small and not good quality. From a "crab shack" I would expect a lot better quality. I had really good, high quality and clean shrimp at The Hangout the day before. We wouldn't return to Joes.

First off before I begin this review, I cannot stress enough how important it is that you read all the way through! So to set the scene, my husband and I were looking for a decent seafood place that actually tasted decent. After looking for an hour we decided that Joes would best suit the bill. We got to the parking lot and we found the perfect parking space. A guy had rolled out the red carpet and was waiting for us to arrive! First green flag. Next, we are escorted in with excellence. Party favors, champagne, kittens, puppies. You name it. Best feeling ever! (We're not famous by any means.) Once we arrived to our table we meet Nick officially. (He was the one pulling all this off) literally the best! Never met him a day in our lives but it was almost like he could read our minds! (We're actually pretty low key, but bare with me) From there the service was IMPECCABLE. From the conversations, the service, drinks being poured with care and food came out super quick. Nick actually was the one to prepare our food also (no disrespect to the kitchen). Along with his other 10 tables. What a true definition of one man show!! Took care of all his tables the EXACT same way. I don't know about you, but restaurants have been sort of lackluster lately but not in Nicks section! Everything is lined with care! Nick literally will make sure you're taken care of from the time you pull into the restaurant until you leave the parking lot. Even chasing after you to make sure that you don't forget your left overs once he escorts you back to your car. So please, if you visit here. ASK FOR NICK. He is such a Gem for this place. Hopefully they know it by now after this review! (Honestly, they'd be crazy to not recognize it before!) But in all seriousness we had the best time and thank you Nick for the amazing experience! We will be back!

Our server Raquel was very sweet and attentive! The food came out quick and very delicious!

Why people wait to get in here is beyond me. We skipped the line and ate at the bar. Three employees were working at the bar, but it seemed like they competed to see who would break first and acknowledge us. The male bartender seemed to have been buzzed. The other two were buddies, but whenever the buzzed bartender returned from wherever he went, they would clam up and get an attitude. There were a lot of unhealthy things on the menu. It was heavy with fried food options. I ordered the clam chowder and Caesar salad. The salad was over-dressed. Both were loaded with salt. It was very loud and crowded.

Our server Jesse was a very cool and chill guy. the food was amazing! I don't think I've had steak cooked so well before. Jesse was on top of it when it came to drinks. thankfully I never ran out. KEEP EM COMIN

New menu items are very good. Kind of noisy inside but can still talk to people you're with. Service was fast and reasonably priced menu.

Stopped here while visiting MB. I was excited to eat here as the drinks looked intriguing and my friend had been here before and said the food was good. We looked over the drink menu for a bit, and put our food order in first. Once we were ready to order drinks the waiter took one of my friend's order first, who ordered a sex on the beach. He looked at her ID and immediately said he couldn't accept it because it was vertical. I understand vertical ID usually equals underage but that was not the case with ours. I also have a vertical one from renewing it at 18 instead of 21. It's valid until 2030. He said it was their policy to not accept any vertical ID's which I just laughed at. I have never had an issue with my ID ANYWHERE. I spoke to the manager who said the same thing and also said it was "state law". I live in NC and have never heard of anything like this. My friend who was younger than me was even able to get a drink just because theirs was horizontal. Ridiculous, you should take all legal documentation. I can get into any bar and buy liquor at any store, but can't get a drink at this restaurant...

I always enjoy my time at joes and this time was no different. Laura was our server, and she was fantastic. Let's start with drinks: I originally ordered the February special, love potion #9- while it was good, it wasn't very strong, in my opinion. I followed that up with Category 5 hurricane, and that put me in a better spot! I always order crab buckets here and it was delicious, as always. My husband ordered the clam chowder and calamari. He said he enjoyed it.

Had to wait 30 minutes for a table in a practically empty restaurant after waiting for a hostess to acknowledge us. We finally got seated and was able to put in an appetizer order but then waited for someone to bring that out after about another 10 minutes. Then waited to order another 5 minutes. Sat and waited over an hour to finally get our order. Ordered the shark attack also didn't get the everyone out of the water script and it tasted horrible no rum was in it when it was supposed to be vodka and rum. Worst service I've ever received at a restaurant aimed at tourist.

Food was great, service was fast and friendly. We stopped in at 3pm on a Sunday. Pricing was a little on the high side in my opinion for quality here and being a chain restaurant. Still would recommend stopping in.

This was a very disappointing experience. I came here on my birthday and will not go back. The service was slow and the service was not impressive. The food was ok. It was on the salty side. Also please be aware, if you forget your ID you will not be served. The atmosphere was chill and was the only positive of the experience. I was so unhappy that I forgot to take a pic of the food

Joe's has a cool family friendly atmosphere with delicious food and great service. Great balance of service to time for conversation.

Okay when I come to a seafood place I have high expectations but this place meh.Service it took 20 minutes to get drinks and it wasn't that packed so service is biggest downside.The Food the steak that I got was raw the blood got all over my shrimp. Some of the clam meat was hard and I could've broke a tooth. It has a good decoration and like signs all over.But they need better staff and good food that's good and fast. 3 stars.

I was pleasantly surprised by this dining experience. It was honestly one of the better parts of our trip! Food was great! Service was great! Grabbed an early dinner and we sat outside for the view and it was great.

We were quoted a 30-45 minute wait. After 30 minutes I checked our spot on the wait list and we had went from 11th to 16th, so I went in to ask what was happening. They insisted that they tried to call me, I showed them my call log that had no missed calls, they shrugged it off and said "oh well, it happens all the time", but did seat us then. My husband and I each ordered a seafood boil and they were delicious. My 7 year old got a kids meal and enjoyed it. Service was okay, minus forgetting our silverware and things that came with the boils. The food was great, just not sure how long I would've had to wait had I of not saw us moving further down on the waitlist.

After walking a 95° heat all we wanted was a cold beer and a glass of water and they refused the service due to one of us didn't have I d . We are both 60 .very rude Bar Tender and no-wonder there they're going out of business all across the country. Great management.

I have been going here for years. Originally as a tourist and now as a local. This is one of the spots I take any friends that come to visit since it's a cool vibe and always good food. Never have had bad service here. They usually have a wait to be seated for dinner but if you get the rewards member card (it has other restaurants in it also) , you can skip the line and get good discounts once and awhile. I always get one of the pastas and ALWAYS their hush puppies. They also have awesome crab leg buckets and lunch size ones too.

My ex and my son loved this restaurant. It's decent. I've been there a few times. It's convenient. Plus, it is pretty well-known. There's none close to WV, so the family considers it a little treat when we go to the beach. I've found it hard sometimes to find something on the menu that really bowls me over.

Crab Bucket is some of the Best. Good Atmosphere and sights and sounds. Waitress was outstanding Two thumbs up.

We were walking Broadway and saw this place thinking hey we might as well stop and get dinner and then get out of Broadway but we sat for about three and a half hours and the management said that our food would be done soon so we sat another hour only to get half of the food and the only thing to occupy you and your family was a small playground would not recommend the ambiance was mediocre and the place was overcrowded do not eat here.

Food was good. Service was great. Fun birthday singing for customers. We ate outside which was very nice.

I visited here on Christmas Day and my experience was pretty good. The hostess was amazing, the waitress was great too but she seemed overworked and forgot to bring water and took too long to acknowledge we were waiting for our bill. We had to really get her attention to let her know we are ready to go. The amount of crab legs you get for the price is acceptable. Could be better but I was definitely pleased with the food other than the Bloody Mary being extremely sour & the kids pizza was awful. I can definitely recommend stopping here on a trip to Myrtle Beach. The location has many attractions nearby as well so it's a great place to stop for lunch.

Had a nice birthday dinner at the bar. We always sit at the bar because getting a table takes way too long here and honestly the service is better at the bar. Their new "Maine Lobster" steam pit was quite good. Just an overall nice evening. Nothing great nor bad. A good go to for seafood when we are in the mood for it.

Please run away. If you're at Broadway At the Beach, please do yourself a favor and go to literally any other restaurant. We stopped in on the last day of our vacation. Planned all week to treat my 11 year old to crab legs. It was a casserole of terrible. Let's start with the drinks. I ordered a margarita in a mason jar. The restaurant was nearly empty and the bar was empty. When it finally did come ( as we wrapped up our appetizer), it was so sweet I could not even drink it. Was there alcohol in it? Maybe, I could not tell. I was a bartender for 10 years in my youth and know exactly what a margarita consists of and should taste like. Any way I assume it was all sour mix. Maybe our bartender just didn't like our server and skimps the drinks. No biggie asked my server to switch me to a Diet Coke. Naturally he brings a regular coke. Embarrassed as I just literally sent back the margarita. My wife spoke up for me and asked for the correct drink. As for the aforementioned appetizer. It was mediocre at best, but still palatable. Let's move onto the entree. I ordered some sort of mix of coconut shrimp, fish and fried shrimp. I literally could not bring my self to eat it. The bigger fried shrimp was so tough it was hard to eat. My only guess is it was far overdone. Then the smaller fried shrimp was soggy and underdone. Lastly I have never had such savory coconut shrimp. It's almost as if they used the wrong batter and then added the coconut. It was also soggy and underdone and very off putting. So why two stars then. I went there so my 11 yo daughter could eat crabs legs and she was happy as a clam to get a bucket of crab. And she did say she enjoyed it. Additionally, the service was not terrible, it was just the food and drinks. After shelling out 200 plus dollars, I left still hungry. Never again Joes, never again. It also added salt to my wounds as I walked around the Broadway and realized how many fun things we could have done instead of that terrible experience.

Went out tonight for dinner with my husband. I've never been here but every time we are in the area he wants to go, so we went. We met our waiter Jesse and he was phenomenal, definitely the highlight of the evening. My husband got the Joe's Classic seafood boil with coconut shrimp and I got the chicken Alfredo with some extra sides. Food was good, no complaints. Until about a hour after dinner my husband started feeling unwell. He started feeling nauseous and his stomach was bothering him. Within a two hour difference he was throwing up and having diarrhea. I felt completely fine, so I knew it had to be something he had eaten. I called the restaurant and asked to speak with a manager and they put me on hold for 10 minutes. When I finally got ahold of a manager I was met with Jeremy. I explained the situation and how upset I was because we had just spent $140 there. Jeremy decided to then start asking me questions like "well what else has he ate today?", "Are you on vacation? When are you leaving?", "have you had any alcohol?". These questions seemed irrelevant which was frustrating me even more. No partial refund was offered for his food, just nothing but interrogation. Like I said, this was a first time here for me and it will be the last.

Probably the most mediocre food I've ever had in my life. I got the fish tacos and my fiancé got the fish and chips everything was super bland. Her shrimp came out and it tasted exactly like a chicken nugget. We got the seasonal sampler the calamari was miserably dry and over breaded the dip was pretty good but little to any in there and whatever the hush puppy things were were okay at best. As for the service we had a fantastic waiter who catered to everything and got us drinks faster than I could finish which I very much so appreciate. But as for the food... don't. It's suuuuper expensive and honestly not worth the quality you're going to receive. Wish I didn't come.

When in this area we stop by for dinner.. we get the steam pot for two. The Joe's Classic which includes (Dungeness Crab, sweet snow crab, shrimp and smoked sausage with old bay) It's always a great start to our meal. It's always a great choice for us! Again we've always come here to eat at sometime during our vacations here! We will definitely be back!

Whenever we travel I always check to see if there will be a Joe's Crab Shack close by. I fell in love with the brand while it was in Minnesota but now that they no longer have an established restuarant in our state (please bring it back!), it becomes a special treat when we travel. The Crab Nachos (seafood nacho #1 on this trip) and Crab Dip are always crowd favorites. You can easily make a meal out of the nachos themselves. We also like to pair our appetizers with the Srimp Platter. And let's no forget their drink menu. If you like bright, sweet, liqoured up drinks you are in the right place. The Shark Bite Cocktail or TKO Punch are some of my favorites. The location was conveniently located in Broadway at the Beach so you are steps away from many entertainment, shopping, and eating options. Fun place to spend an afternoon, especially on the patio overlooking the lagoon.

Bad food bad service my first and last time here don't waist your time and money go somewhere else

While vacationing in Myrtle Beach, SC, my family and I "feasted" on seafood boils @Joe's Crab Shack & were able to substitute sausages for additional shrimp. Even though it was "bustling" during the time we went, Our Server (Nick) was charming, attentive and handled our orders in a timely manner.

Ignored us most of the time and only came and took our order after 30 minutes and we were preparing to leave. Not a fun experience. 1/10

The food was good and affordable. Our waiter was very attentive and had a good attitude about it. The place was very homey. I will be back next time I'm in town.

I was down here the other week and had the best time . Playground for the kids to play and customer service was amazing. I think his name was Dakota. This guy was amazing. Food was average but still had a great time.

Quality of the food has gone down. I've come here multiple times while I'm in town, and usually it's good quality seafood- this visit the seafood boil lacked effort, seasoning and spices. Placed a mobile order, and patiently waited for someone to attend us, but no one ever came- we had to chase down the bartender to get our food. Balls of fire were good, fries were stale and cold.

Excellent food and experience. Our waitress Amya was outstanding. Made the experience worthwhile.

Joe's Crab Shack at Broadway At The Beach in Myrtle Beach is a great place to go for all things quality seafood and much more. I really like the location and atmosphere that they have available here. The staff here is very friendly and makes sure that you have everything that you need.
