Joe's On Higgins

This was my third time at Joe's & this time I had Chicken Parmesan, I've had their pizza which I always order & is true Chicago pizza but the pasta was fantastic. The service has always been top notch & I love the atmosphere. You feel at home. It's a true neighborhood restaurant.

I got deliver from door dash. I had read about this place on Chicago Eater and on Reddit. I live in the neighborhood but grew up having Dino’s. I figured I’d try something new. Damn, this is now my favorite pizza. I love the crisp of the crust and the well-done style. I already want more!

Ordered a small stuffed pizza half jalapeno and garlic for $30. Was inedible, completely soggy from the bottom. We attempted to eat a slice, but threw out the pizza. We arrived early based on quoted time, but I'm sure they are using thin crust sauce for deep dish which is making it so soggy. The cardboard at the bottom was absolutely drenched. Fries were decent, but unseasoned. For $5 don't recommend. Restaurant looks beautiful, but we were hoping the food was up to par. Very disappointed to say the least. We were hoping to support this spot.

My boyfriend and I love coming to Joe’s. It’s in our neighborhood and the perfect place for some delicious food. The service is always great and they are very welcoming. They have a variety of options and can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. I would recommend the following: sausage and peppers appetizer, pasta fagioli soup, ravioli and gnocchi vodka, and their thin pizza! They also pour a strong old fashioned and a delicious espresso martini. And make sure to save room for their tiramisu!

This is my best friend's favorite pizza for years, since their original location. I can definitely see why it's her favorite and she will travel over an hour to go there. The whole experience was incredible, friendly team, the owner is still there and very hands on. Everything was fresh, Delicious, and made with love. We can't wait to go back!

Really cute space. TVs for watching the game. Little party room in the back. Lots of windows for natural lighting. Outdoor patio section in the warmer months. Pizza was solid! My 16 yo son really loved the cheese sticks! My husband went back the next day for more bruschetta! The service was friendly.

I ordered for delivery at 4:30ish and asked if It could be delivered at 6:30. They told me no problem. I spent almost 150 bucks on food. I got delivered at 6:01. So half the people that were eating weren’t there until 630 so their meals were cold. The potato wedges were soggy and undercooked. The pizza was cold cold five minutes after delivery. The lemon chicken was submerged in oil. Like they put the chicken in soup. I was so excited to eat there And it was very disappointing… not only did we not get to eat all together because it was delivered 30 minutes before I was supposed to, but more than half the people took one bite of their food and didn’t want anymore. The kids took one bite of their pizza and wouldn’t even eat it. They’re kids and it’s pizza! I will never spend my money there again..

Joes is a great pizza place for a drink or two and a great pizza! The service is very friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to help with their somewhat unique pizza styles. The place is very clean, plenty of seating, and occasionally some live music. Their pizzas speak for themselves. No matter which style you prefer, they make it to the best of their ability. I've ordered from here many times and you should too!

Placed a pickup order for a pizza on a Friday. Pizza was ready upon arrival and was pretty tasty. The one thing I didn't like is that each topping is an extra charge, that can make your pizza pretty pricey. The vibe inside and outside was busy- almost full! There was a live band. Will definitely go back for dine-in soon.

Food is good but the prices are high. Wish they had specials for it or coupons after buying so many. Picked up a pizza recently and it was made wrong, they told me to come back in another 30 minutes for a new one. Didn't give me any $$ off for my inconvenience or apologize.

07/15/23 - Last night I went here w/my wife. I heard about Joe's Pizza from my sister & have been wanting to check it out. They are located on Higgins close to Jefferson Park. Evidently this is a different location then the one my sister ate at as they have been at this location about 8 weeks. We ordered a white pizza on an excellent thin crust pizza that has 3 cheeses, mozzarella, Parmesan & ricotta cheeses. We also asked for sausage & mushrooms on it. The crust was exceptional as was the pizza. While the pizza was awesome the service was not very good. We waited over 15 minutes until a server came up and took our order. The pizza seemed to take a very long time (approximately 30 minutes) considering it was a thin crust I thought it might be quicker. After we finished I aske 3 different people for the check. The first woman said she would bring it then continued around the restaurant helping other customers. The second was our server who was cute and very friendly but same thing I asked for a box and the bill & she said she would bring it and continued around the restaurant going to other tables. I was beginning to think they were going to comp us the pizza (yeah right). While I absolutely loved their thin crust cheese pizza I felt their service wasn't very good. Would I come back again probably as the pizza was excellent. I give them 5 stars for the food but deduct a star for their slow service

Being a local restaurant in Jefferson park. I won't be surprised this place will be packed really soon. Good food, great service, and awesome location. I know they strictly were a only delivery and pick up location so they are still learning how to manage a rush. It helps to think if you are in Europe getting delicious pizza. Bring the whole family to enjoy a sit down and take your time eating and drinking. I do have a push for the Baked ziti pasta is more of a mostaccioli pasta with mariana and cheese instead of vodka with cheese. Also, there specialty drinks could get better and they will only give you a sample of wine that is opened already Can't wait to go back!!!

Went for pizza and what a surprise to have the best salad of my life! Great neighborhood place with amazing food!

Food and service at this new location are great! My 2nd time visiting this month. My favorite appetizer is the Arinchini.

Joe's on Higgins has been a staple in the neighborhood as a solid pizza place, but since they moved down the street and really upped their menu it is on a whole new level. The new place has a modern look and really is an upgrade from the old restaurant. The food has followed that same idea. The classic Italian food is fantastic but their take on them is really special. My favorite is the chicken Calabrese, it's a thin chicken breast with potatoes in a spicy sauce with cherry and other peppers and is amazing. Their meatball crostini and calamari apps are perfect and even their olive oil for the warm bread is high quality and very tasty. The servers are fast and friendly and portions are huge. It is a bit pricey but I feel that you get what you pay for here. It also has that neighborhood feel to everything they do. Since it reopened we have gone several times and will continue to make a regular spot for the family.

To start, parking could be a problem although we lucked out and found a space on the side street right next to the restaurant. The bread was served piping hot and fantastic in flavor, however I would prefer the cheese and olive oil to be served separate not in the same dish. The wife had Eggplant Parmesan...more cheese and breading than she would have preferred. I chose the Veal Marsala served with all the mushrooms one could handle, but the veal was not pounded thin enough and was stringy for my liking. Being new to the area, we may give it another chance, hoping they will work out some of the kinks.

I came looking for buffalo chicken pizza and they did not disappoint! It was even satisfying as leftovers the next day. Service was great. They had live music that Friday. Overall great local place

A Sunday early night experience. OK, they were busy. Big groups, back room was busy. I'm ready to cut the staff some slack on a night like this. However, our group of 3 were next to some VIPs (probably family) that were seated after us. We had simple orders that would have taken minutes to prepare and serve. We waited over an hour. Meanwhile the VIP table guests were inundated with several dishes from the kitchen which were not ordered. "Wow. This is great. What is this?" I don't have an issue with family getting preferential treatment but having to wait over an hour to be served while the table right next to us gets great service, big turn off. BTW, they left before us. Boo. Want to shout out to David. He's a great server and maybe the only reason we may return.

The pizza wasn't bad, just nothing special which would make me return. I had been looking for a lunch slice, but being a Saturday I had to order a small pie. The crust was excellent and the pepperoni was the spicier cupping type of pepperoni. The restaurant was clean and had a new interior. Maybe just a little too upscale for my taste to be honest so I took my order to go.

Service was very good and the food was delicious. I love the black and green olives on the house salad. Nice surprise. Definitely will be back. It was very nice to see the room was remodeled with exposed brick walls and windows that opened.

I really like to,support small independent family owned restaurants. I rarely ding them on reviews, cause I think they have it tough enough. That said, prepare yourself for some tough love. The bread and cocktails were great. The service was pleasant. Now the hard part. The food was just not good. The minestrone soup tasted like nothing. It's hard to describe, but it just felt like vegetables in water without broth. Then came the Whitefish Limone. It was dry and did not taste fresh. Whitefish should be delicate and flaky. Mine was rubbery and tasted way too "fishy" (I know it's fish, but you get the point.). My dining mate had the baked Ziti and commented that it was bland, and left about 90% of the dish uneaten. The restaurant is loud and the glaring blue led lighting reminds me of a hospital or dentist office. Your date will not look attractive here. Kids were milling about everywhere- seemed more like Chucky Cheese than a date night place. Maybe we caught them in an off night. Maybe we should have ordered pizza. I'm not sure we will go back with so many small family Italian restaurants on the NW side. Sorry Joe, maybe the ghost of Wall's florist has haunted the building.

Placed a delivery order for pizza from Joe's for the first time. and for pizza, the last time. I don't even know how to describe the taste. It didn't taste like pizza should taste. I ate 3 pieces because I was hungry, and threw the rest in the garbage.

I want to like Joes and with their new location I had high hopes, but yet again so disappointed. We ordered not only once or twice but three times! What is that saying about shame on you?! Well we were dumb enough to give them 3 tries. Honestly the pizza was either missing toppings, burnt, or they forgot to put sauce on it. Their wings have been as bland as can be every time but crispy. Fries are obviously frozen or they are just extremely mushy. I can't with this place.

Joe's is a Chicago legend. The former location at 5747 W. Higgins was recently closed and was given a phenomenal new life in the old Wall's Florist Shop at 5862 W. Higgins. Owners Frank and Gina Demonte have created a glorious diamond in the neighborhood. The restaurant is an entirely fresh, sparkling concept in design that would rival any hotspot on Michigan Avenue or Lincoln Park. The menu has also been trimmed into a sophisticated selection of wonderful contemporary dishes yet keeps many classic, traditional rustic favorites that made Joe's such an icon in the area since the early fifties. It's amazing what a change of scenery can do to turn an already iconic dining establishment into a modern, luxurious experience. The space is sexy, inviting and refined on all levels and is the ideal place to relax and enjoy a cocktail and Italian cuisine at its finest. A few favorites include the spectacular grilled calamari, stunning Spaghetti Carbonara (which isn't easy to find in many Italian eateries), exceptional Veal Marsala and luscious, tender Pork Chops Calabrese. The chefs make sure everything served is given top-tier attention, and it's easy to see the passion devoted to each dish. Pizza, of course, is a mainstay and perfectly crafted. They also have a dessert that places Nutella inside a gorgeously cozy-warm pastry dough with chocolate sauce to drizzle on that defies description. Everything served is perfectly realized and presented. The flavors are rich, exciting and vibrant when they need to be and elegantly subtle when they need to be. There is a full selection of beers, wines and specialty drinks which are sure to please every taste. The waitstaff are also great --- knowledgeable, respectful and very much in-tune to providing exceptional customer service. This beautiful Italian restaurant called Joe's celebrates undeniably the love of family and friends from the moment one enters. It's rare to find this in this day and age. Because of it, it's worth going there again and again to savor and appreciate terrific cuisine and togetherness.

I wanted to compliment Joe's for our recent (June 13th) birthday celebration for two of our family members. Our dinner was great and the braciole my brother was waiting for was excellent. The grilled calamari was such a hit with the whole table. Service was good. We will definitely be back to try the pizza - which looked amazing as it was served to other tables. Great friendly place, we loved it! Have no idea how my profile says California - I'm a Chicago gal.

The move across the street was like a move into another dimension. Joe's pizza was always good Chicago pizza. Now in a brand new space, you can sit and linger. It's a cool place, fits right in to the neighborhood. We breezed in, and ate and drank, and breezed out -with no friction. Motorcycles buzzing by down Higgins. 12" pizza is enough for two people!

I just checked out the new location it's super cute. Overall I'll be back because of some standout food but as with any place there were dull spots. The bad: - Super loud, they probably shouldn't have the TV volume on when it's that busy. - It smelled like burning pizza - DO NOT, and I repeat DO NOT order the Pasta Fagioli. Aside from it just lacking flavor there was no pasta. None. I was baffled. I actually told the server and she offered to get another soup but I didn't want another soup. And I got charged for the cup even though it comes with my order. The whole soup experience sucked. - The salad was also odd. Dressing came out in take out cups, and there was hardly any cheese but the croutons were really good. The Good: - Grilled calamari was a wow! It's fantastic and we ate every bite. I think it's the best I've ever had. - nice pours on the wine - gluten free pizza was amazing! As well as the regular deep dish that I got for my son. The pizza is really top notch. - The people! Everyone was friendly. It was busy and service was slow but I understand that and the staff never made us feel rushed. So that's my honest review. I'm in the neighborhood so I'll be back, just not ordering soup or salad.

Good food But it feels like they would rather not have people of color patronizing their establishment. I have felt this personally and this has been mentioned to me more than once by different people of color. No matter how good the food is no one should feel unwelcome in an establishment where the owners want your hard earned money and are cooking your food. Food should be made with love and you as a consumer should feel the love from the restaurant. The delivery people have always been nice, polite and respectful. I spent the majority of my food experience from Joe's through delivery. I thought I was being sensitive (feeling unwanted in Joe's) until, I suggested Joe's to another person of color that lives walking distance, same as I and their response was they did not want to patronize Joe's because they felt the same type of energy I am talking about. So maybe check how you act Joe's .... You are making people not want to spend their green dollars with you.

The update is so fun and makes our neighborhood so much more interesting. We are there as a family of four (two small children). They were extremely accommodating--let us call ahead so the food would be ready when we got there. We ordered a fettuccine Alfredo and a XL pizza for the family to share. All was delicious. But honestly the pasta is what really stood out to me as super delicious. We will be back and hope Joe's sticks around for many many years to come.

Excellent food with big portions and lots of flavor! The service was fantastic, and we were so impressed with all the staff! Drinks and gelato were also 10/10. So excited to have such an amazing spot in the neighborhood!

We had my mom's 70th birthday surprise party at Joe's. Frank and his entire staff were incredibly accommodating. I had to cancel on them twice because my mom got sick and Frank couldn't be nicer about rescheduling. The food is fantastic and the staff is incredible! Thank you, we will be back very soon!

Food was delicious and very large portions. Shrimp Scampi was fantastic! Service was friendly and attentive. Would recommend to my family. Nice local place but we drove from pretty far. We'll be back.

Great atmosphere. Very friendly service. And the owner makes the rounds to keep you happy. How can you beat that??. The pizza is very good..Great sausage and peppers!! Chicken is very good.. Pasta and sauces are good.. Prices and low for the generous portions My only complaint. And it is the same complaint I have at most italian restaurants. I never see, taste or smell any garlic... All good..I going to be making this place a habbit..

I went here a few months back and now I've been back once and carried out twice. As far as food goes I've had no issues. Very good. I like the restaurant, comfortable to eat in. I don't like when you're in a place and they haven't changed a thing and it looks worn out and out dated. If they get busy it can slow down that happened once but the food was still good. I've been in the neighborhood 30 years and went to other Italian restaurants and I really wish I would have tried this a long time ago. It's the neighborhood "go to" now.

The food is barely edible. The predominant flavor is salt, salt, and then more salt. We had several dishes and the recurring theme was - wow, way too much salt! We've given them a few changes since we love the location, decor, etc. But every single time we leave very disappointed. This place has so much potential. Please, please, please hire new chefs/cooks who can execute the dishes on the menu. We want to come back - please improve the food!

Working hard on the northwest side on my 2nd visit in. Legacy business run by a proud family. Congratulations on the new digs! The joint was jumping on a Friday night. Great thin crust with tasty sausage & onion. Nice beer list and better people. Funny how that happens when the owners are in the house. Way to go Joe, you're doing the neighborhood proud.

The was a extremely long wait time literally 20 minutes for a meatball sandwich side fries and pre made coleslaw. The food was all bland no seasoning what so ever. I only gave it a 3 stars because the bread was very soft fresh and there was a lot of red sauce. I ordered togo and maybe the pizza is better. I'd try the pizza because a friend recommended their pizza once I mentioned to her.

Great little gem of a place in the neighborhood. Customer service was outstanding. Alyssa, Zade, and Katie are phenomenal. Started with a Caprese salad which did not disappoint. Excellent balsamic glaze. Thin crust pizza was fabulous with a nice crispy crust. This place has a cool vibe and everything is done right. We will definitely go back.

We had seen many positive reviews regarding the pizza served at Joe's. Looking forward to trying the pizza soon but for our first visit we opted for entrees instead. Classic dishes, very well prepared. We tried both the veal parmesan and the shrimp scampi. Quality of the veal, shrimp, and pasta was great, ample portions for the price, everything nicely plated. Accompanied by soup or salad. The salad is much more than just a side dinner salad. Fresh ingredients and salad dressing. Soup very flavorful. The only knock was that it was warm, not hot when it came to the table. Our fault in not asking to have it reheated, that would have amped the taste up even more Service was great, friendly and informed. It was really nice to visit a local sit down restaurant where you felt welcomed. Although they both also offer carry out, in Jefferson Park I would say that Joe's and Iz-Tatl on Milwaukee Ave are both businesses that seem to understand hospitality. Joe's offers just a few sandwich choices. As a sandwich person, I'd love to see them add something like a chicken parm or meatball sandwich. They have a few tv screens. I could see this as a great spot to have a weekend lunch and catch a bit of a game. Regardless, will definitely return

Well, Joe's has good pizza. Not the best but good for being close to home. As far as Italian dinners go, heck NO. This isn't the 1st time we have been disappointed in their dinners but tonight was the worst! We ordered lasagna, chicken parmesan with spaghetti and garlic and oil pasta. Lasagna was good however the spaghetti in garlic and oil was disgusting. I never had crispy, crunchy spaghetti! This pasta was dry, not seasoned, and measured exactly 1 cup. When I opened the container I thought it was a children's portion. Their prices are not cheap. Very dry sitting in a pot, not covered in water made this pasta dried. They better a cook who knows how to cook Italian food with the new place opening soon. If you want good Italian food go to LaVilla. They take pride in what they serve. Not just throw some stale pasta in a container and charge bucks for it!

Neighbors and beyond! You don't want to miss our newest gem in JP that's not so new! Joe's on Higgins has relocated, but you won't be missing out on their decades-old favorite recipes! Still a neighborhood favorite - ours since 1997! - Joe's has reinvented his space but not his impeccable customer service. His team is attentive and friendly. We just left the Gift Theatre and Joe's team patiently and happily took our order 10 minutes before closing! Thank you! One thing that has not changed is their generosity to our neighborhood schools and parks. Thank you! Thank You! Thank you for your investment, support and dedication to Jefferson Park! Great food. I've had the chicken Parmesan and the chicken Vesuvio. Both nice portions and very tasty. I live a few blocks away, the food was still hot when I got home. Weed out the one star reviews. Those are the neighborhood entitled Karens who want the whole order free for the slightest mistake.

Worst food I've had in a restaurant. Salty salty salty. The eggplant in the Eggplant Parmesan was chewy. Huge portion with excessive cheese. Nothing subtle. Everything too much, salt, cheese and portion. It was truly that bad. I'm sorry but have to be honest. Ordered pasta because the pizza was so disappointing. Don't know why with investment in new location and brand new built out place why not invest in a real chef?

Great new space. Everything is fabulous. Great attention to detail. Soups and salad dressing are homemade and wonderful. Italian dishes are authentic pizza is best thin crust on northwest side. Third generation family owned fabulous restaurant

New location, high prices, same old bad pizza. If you like your pizza burnt or just overall bad, please by all means go to Joe's. Jacked their prices up to pay for new place but same crappy food. Hard pass. Better options than this place.

We love Joe's pizza and they have good appetizers to. Very reasonable. Have not been inside because we always do delivery.

I have been going to Joe's as a kid since the early 70's which was only a few blocks away growing up in Jefferson Park. The original location was a small storefront with maybe two small tables and a counter. The pizza was fantastic and nothing has changed! Fresh ingredients, tasty Italian sausage and the onions are the best! Great service and love the baked bread with olive oil brought to us by the owner, who I remember as a little boy years ago! Congratulations on the cool new location ! Don't live in the area anymore but will always go back!

We have been going to Joe's for many, many years - all 3 generations of the family-owned neighborhood joint! The new location just a block or so west on Higgins is very cool. Love the big windows that open up on a warm evening. We had the Joe's supreme thin crust, which is deliciously crispy crust and cheesy goodness. The house salad is big enough for 2 to share. Had the vanilla biscotti gelato as a special treat and it was yummy. We don't live in the neighborhood any more, but make a trip to Joe's at least once a year. Will be back sooner to try other items in the newly expanded menu. Great service, friendly atmosphere, delicious food as always! Congrats on the new place!

The food here is good and there is a variety of offererings. The service is good, and the wait stff are very friendly. The food is a bit pricey for a neighborhood restaurant. This is a good place to bring the family. The decor is pizza joint with nothing too fancy about it. When it is nice out, the windows open so it feels like you are outside. I would recommed this place for a casual eveing out.
