Ok, so this place ain't cheap but for once you DO get what you pay for: truly NEW YORK style pizza, perfectly cooked crust that is so damned hard to find, plus a decent amount of fresh, high quality toppings.
$6 a slice and you really need two to be relatively full so we're talking $12 vs $7 for two slices at Whole Foods, and in my opinion the extra $5 is well worth it. WF's pizza is not that far behind, but it's not quite in the same league.
(Funny thing is, WF's pizza is equal or better than almost every other local pizza joint, both the chains and the one-off family run places. TIP: If you're on a tight budget, Market Basket pizza comes close to WF's but at half the price, about the same price as Costco pizza but far far better.)
I'd say Joe's Pizza actually beats out local favorite Regina's which always entails a long wait especially on weekends and where you have to specifically ask for "extra crispy" to get anything that comes close to Joe's crust quality.
Ambience is also very New York: small narrow space almost always active/full with a very diverse clientele due to the Ha-vud Square location, no tables just window side counters and stools, nice for people watching outdoors or inside. Service was friendly and efficient. Oh, and they're open until *2:30AM* Thu-Sat, 1:30AM other nights for delivery, *3AM* and *2AM* respectively for in-store pickup? Nothing special in NYC, but so so very rare in the sleepy AF greater Boston area!
Ergo: I'll be baaaaaaaack!
