"Established in 1973, this breakfast spot has become so popular that diners often send someone ahead to wait in line on busy winter weekends. For first-time visitors, the famous cinnamon-nut French toast, topped with sliced almonds and cinnamon sugar, is a must-try. The menu also features plain French toast and traditional diner fare. Among the variety of omelets offered, the Hawaiian omelet stands out with its mix of sautéed vegetables, cheese sauce, and grilled pineapples." - J. Miller

I’d classify this as a local establishment. We love eating like a local. We started with a Poinsettia mimosa and a coffee. We actually were given our own pot on the table. That is so rare these days and was much appreciated. Their signature is a cheese sauce on their eggs or potatoes. If you like grits this is definitely the place to get them. They were the best part of my breakfast. The German omelette was just ok, I wished the potatoes were seasoned. My wife enjoyed her basted egg dish. For the 2 of us with tip we spent $50.

I’ll keep this short. I have been coming to John G’s for 30+ years, and Margaret has been serving my family for decades. This team is simply the best. If you are in the area, brave the long-ish lines on the weekend and have an unforgettable meal.

First off... I have spent the past 45 years int the food business and have been eating at John G's for at least 40 years. Today was the worst. A turkey sandwich for $20... extra for cheese and extra for fries. $4.00 for club soda... it is ice, water and carbonation. I 1000% understand costs but no one likes to feel ripped off and taken advantage of. the sandwich was lettuce with thick bread a slice and a half of tomato and some turkey. As you can see from the pictures... very little turkey, a lot of bread and lettuce. the server was so unhappy to be working and robotic... add cheese costs 1.50 add fries costs 2.00. Do you want to pay for that? A real charmer... she forgot to toast the bread, she forgot the 1000 Island dressing and I never saw her to address anything because she was a drop and dash kinda server. It is a shame when something iconic losses its way.

I’ve been to John G’s about four times! I’m finally writing a review as I’ve experienced great, consistent customer service and exceptional food. The first time was with a group of my friends which went exceptionally well given the amount of people, and the second time was with a date where we were given lovely recommendations for the delicious Floridian Pancake. This last time I knew exactly what I wanted as I’d gotten familiar! My friend and I were greeted and sat at a clean table and were promptly checked up on for drinks and food. The lovely waitress made an honest mistake and brought me a wrong dish (I had ordered the Greek Omelette and she had misheard German Omelette) and made sure the mistake was addressed and corrected in a quick manner. No problem! Mistakes happen and she was very friendly and apologetic about it! The rest of the meal went great and we were still checked up on regularly for anything we may have needed. Thank you for the consistent wonderful experiences.

Google
Walked here from our hotel for breakfast. Glad we chose this place because it plentiful indoor air conditioned seating, great service, good food, and reasonable prices. Wife and I are kind of picky with our coffee, and that was probably our only complaint. Oddly enough, we have not yet found a breakfast place where we liked the coffee in this area. Omelette was good, and we really liked the honey granola French Toast.

Google
We really stumbled upon this restaurant. Were we glad we did! Great food, old school atmosphere and the food! So much of it! It was delicious, delightful and da’ best! Do yourself a favor and go. You might want to share a meal!

Google
Absolutely my favorite place to eat. we go everywhere but nothing compares to the Almond French toast for breakfast and The Fish n Chips for lunch. For summer my server said they are doing Kids eat for $3!!!!! I LOVE IT MORE NOW!!!! staff and new manager 5/5

Kristin

Google
I came here for breakfast with my dad for Father's day and decided on the American omelet (western) and it was delicious. Service was great. We had to wait it line, but it took less than 10 minutes to be seated. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Yelp
What I love is the pot of coffee on the table, fast good service and now the breakfast specials. Favorites- the omelettes, bacon and hash browns with cheese sauce.

Tom S.

Yelp
It's been a long since we were here for breakfast. Wife 2 eggs, hash browns, toast. I got raisin cream cheese French toast with a side bacon. Wife liked her meal. Mine was very good. It's messy, runny and very sweet so be warned. The bacon was cooked good right so overall the $32 plus breakfast was a hit. Food prices are so out of control that we don't do breakfast out much. Overall a family run place that has been here for years. So stop by and enjoy breakfast or lunch.

Maureen B.

Yelp
Solid, reliable breakfast spot. Amber provided good service. Coffee is good, Buttons & Bows breakfast is delicious, although the mushrooms were a bit salty today. Friends had French Toast and sausage, and eggs and home fries. Great place to meet and relax over a leisurely breakfast.

Mary K.

Yelp
Ok but not great. The service was excellent if borderline unfriendly. Eggs Benedict with lox was great. Loved that the home fries had a crispy crunch in the outside. No idea why they put raw purple onion slices on the home fries though. The fruit served with it was ripe and tasty. The Nutella French toast was just too much Nutella....is that a complaint? But really it was too much. Sounded better than it tasted. The western omelet had big chunks of undercooked veg in it. Just ok. Wish they'd offered a refill for my iced tea. Ok but there's better places although it was efficient and moved fast.

Geoffrey M.

Yelp
My favorite place since the 90's when Wendy and her 2 brothers owned JohnG's. Was always wonderful. Went for breakfast and lunch!!) My last 3 visits ( I moved from Florida in 2007) this past year were not good. Cold food. Cole slaw is much different than previous. An automatic 20 percent gratuity was added once with lousy service. At least the clam chowder is the same but different presentation . Won't be back.

Rebecca V.

Yelp
This place is super cute and a nice little spot to eat! We just missed the breakfast menu which is what we went for but we tried their lunch menu and it did not disappoint! As soon you get there they greet you and open the door for you and all the staff were really nice! I definitely want to come back for breakfast one day!!

Sheila R.

Yelp
Have always loved John G's. Still a little sad they're no longer at Lake Worth Beach, but they have the BEST food, especially breakfast. The pancakes are incredible.

W Keith B.

Yelp
Little gem of a breakfast spot. This is our second time dining there. The original crunch French toast is the best. Avocado toast is delicious

Esteban R.

Yelp
Delicious sandwhich worth every cent. The sandwhich is incredibly filling and the wooden interior of the restaurant is very inviting.

Olivia A.

Yelp
One of our families favorite restaurants and definitely our favorite sit down breakfast spot! We normally order two omelettes to share for the table (family of 3) and it is perfect. The servers are always kind. Coffee is delicious!

Allison K.

Yelp
We went over the weekend for lunch. The hostess and waitress were very friendly and accommodating to our group. We dined outside, where the seating was spacious, and the weather was perfect. All of our food arrived timely, and was delicious. I got the sliders, which were very good. Portions were generous, and the food tasted great. Lovely atmosphere and great service.

Yelp
It take no effort to write a positive review for John G's. But, it is difficult to characterize the restaurant's specialty because it does two things well - breakfast and seafood. The menu also has other enjoyable salads and sandwiches, but it's really a breakfast/brunch diner that also does fish right. A longtime local eatery, it's a bit dated. An observation not a drawback. There is never a lack of parking in the adjoining lot. Service is quick indoor or outside seating. Ordering is professionally expedient and brought out with no delays. Only open until 3:00 pm, 1/2 the menu is focused on breakfast specialties. The flip side has seafoods, piled on deli sandwiches, and salads. Everything is very good to excellent. All comfort foods plentifully served and priced exceptionally reasonable - particularly for Palm Beach county. It's not the memorable best in the region, but certainly the predictable best at what they do. Highly recommended for a quick bite while reading the paper or just meeting a friend.

Bianca L.

Yelp
My wife and I just moved to Boynton and were looking for our new breakfast spot. Went to Facebook for some recommendations and landed on John G's. Breakfast didn't disappoint. We got there around 10AM on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy. We got seated right away and Ally, our waitress, was kind and offered exceptional service. 10/10 would recommended. Picture below shows the Original Cinnamon-Nut French Toast with a side of eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns and Raisin Cream Cheese French Toast with over easy eggs.

Ange R.

Yelp
We enjoyed breakfast outside. My omelette was delicious but wasn't a fan of the potatoes though. They have an outdoor seating area which is basically right outside their doors, in the strip mall. Good people watching and nice breeze, but not much of a Florida scenery. Service was ok. Not very friendly but attentive. Good walking distance of the hotel where we stayed and stores to browse.

Kerry W.

Yelp
When you visit South Florida this restaurant is a must try.The best fried fish .awesome lunches .great gazpacho.so many amazing breakfast.Buttons and bows that's because I love mushrooms..and now they have adult beverages. The service is excellent short handed with a full restaurant Linda did amazing job. From the Hostess to the staff .We love this place . I would give twenty stars

Jill G.

Yelp
Wow wow wow! What an amazing spot! Took my grandmother for breakfast, this restaurant reminds me of a restaurant from a movie, the decor was rustic, and cute. Our waitress was so sweet, she told us what people usually get, and we ordered them, the almond French toast, the stuffed croissant and the regular French toast. All was amazingg, we couldn't get over it. So fresh, different, and flavorful at its finest. We had a great memorable experience and we will definitely be returning!

Sadie K.

Yelp
I liked the decorations around the restaurant they were very beachy and fitting. We ordered a separate plate of fries and they were a little small for the price of $6 they didn't meet their price. They were still very tasty though. The fish was very good along with the fruit. When I tell you that the hush puppies were the best thing I ever tasted they were delicious. I even stole some off of my grandmas plate . The staff of the restaurant were so kind. I overall loved it here and would recommend.

Wen S.

Yelp
Uhm. Was not impressed. The cod fish was good not great. Service was ok. Uhm.... The location is very clean and plenty of seating areas. Has an outside area as well.

Ty W.

Yelp
Expectations were already low, ordered the $15 corn beef hash meal, only got hash. No bread, no eggs, just hash. Wife ordered French toast meal, also just bread. No syrup, no sides. First time eating here and definitely won't be returning.

Amy F.

Yelp
Definitely going back! Great food, great staff, unique environment! Clam chowder was great, fish and chips was great!

Ken S.

Yelp
Good service Good food Can't go wrong going there No problem waiting in line to get in Worth the wait

Alessandra V.

Yelp
we had a great experience at john gs on saturday morning. we arrived around 9 am and there was no line! we had a very attentive server she was always checking on us! amongst the table we got an iced latte, hot chocolate, #1 (special cinnamon nut french toast), #4 (raisin cream cheese french toast), #9 (croissant egg sandwich), side of bacon, & side of sausage. everything was super good!

Wildhearts1999 ..

Yelp
Fantastic omelettes period. The stuffed croissant is to die for.... And on top of all that they're pet friendly on their patio. Waitresses on mark. We will definitely be back.

Robert Z.

Yelp
Ohh my goodness if you live in the WPB area and don't know about John G's your really missing out on some of the best breakfast and brunch in the area. I love their Fish and chips and a side Cesar salad. The service is always top notch they even take care of the line outside if there is one. They really have a nice location now and the atmosphere is almost like their old Jupiter Beach location. Please support your local restaurants instead of this chain food it tastes a lot better and it's a lot healthier for you.

Mike K.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I dined there for lunch yesterday and it was so good! I've never ordered fish and chips before but that's what they're known for so I gave it a try...... so delicious and light! Amber was our sever and she was fantastic so sweet!! It's old school ambiance nothing fancy but just good!

Martine K.

Yelp
We came in today and sat outside. Rhonda was a great server. The food was brought out promptly this time so no qualms there. I ordered the small 2 piece fish with fruit salad and cole slaw. Cole slaw was crispy and fresh. The fish which I got broiled was super tasty. It came out lukewarm at best which for me is not an issue but for some people a big pet peeve. The fritter next to it is lovely but needs a little sweetness. I put strawberry preserves on it and Rhoda recommended honey which would have been awesome but I was already done. My friend got the clam chowder which is always super and a grilled cheese on the multigrain bread which was a yummy buttery treat. So I'll be back because it seems they've improved in the kitchen since my last visit.

Nestor Urrutia

Yelp
My wife and I have visited this place many, many times, and have always been satisfied with the service. It's a great place for Sunday brunches.

Justine L.

Yelp
Great service and quick food delivery. The food was great too. We got the croissant stuffed with eggs, ham, and cheese and got hash browns. Loved the hash browns from how crunchy they were!

Ronit M.

Yelp
I have been coming to Johnny Gs for at least 15 years both at their old location which was actually on Lake Worth Beach, and the newer one in the Manalapan strip mall. Like everything else under the new administration, everything costs four times as much including here at JohnGs. My check came to over $40 without adding the tip yet for an order of eggs Benedict over lox, orange juice, and a side of four small strips of bacon. The bacon was almost 7 dollars. I wish I could say that the quality of the food justified what they now charge you here to eat. I was wondering why at the peak of the season there was hardly ever anybody there for breakfast except on the weekends and even then not the kind of crowd they used to get and now I see why. People are not going to pay over $100 for a few people to eat breakfast. This is not New York yet but I guess JohnGs thinks it is. My server was awesome so this review has nothing to do with her. It is also nice to be able to bring dogs and sit with them and have something to eat because they have a patio. But basically you are sitting in a parking lot. I do not think I will go back again because I cannot justify the prices they charge for breakfast when you can go to so many other places close by and get breakfast for five dollars. Again, let me repeat. There is nothing special about the food here whether it's their so called famous French toast or their omelettes. You can get the same thing anywhere else just as good for half the price.

Kimberly O.

Yelp
I still remember going to John G's in their old location. This new one just doesn't live up to it. It's clean. The service is polite. The food is good. It's lacking ambiance. I don't understand why people still wait in line to pay too much to eat here.

Kenneth T.

Yelp
I initially visited this restaurant because it shares a name with a great friend of mine in Jersey. "JonG". Now I try to make it here every a.m. nice experience. Good people.

Andrea U.

Yelp
Crowds, tremendous portions, great service & always a nice time. We make sure to come hungry & with others to share. Didn't realize they've been here for 45 yrs. Service was great we weren't rush we were able to sit and talk. Nice and cool inside and off-season it isn't crowded there's no wait it's a pleasure. We shared broiled fish, fried fish, clam strips along with fries coleslaw and corn fritters. Everything was delicious.

Eugene B.

Yelp
We had eggs, hashbrowns and, sausage and also an omelet with grits. Food was average but good. The service was not very good as the waitress did not seem she enjoyed being there as was the same for the other servers I observed. Our server did not talk to us only to ask, "what would you like to order", peeking out the door to were we sat she asked, "is eveything ok" then closed the door so quickly we didn't have time to answer! I found happier servers in less expensive restaurants than this. We enjoy eating at restaurants but when we are snubbed, was our server racist???, or just not happy to be working??? and the servers don't make the experience enjoyable then we are very disappointed. They can at least ask were are we from or continue a short conversation that maybe we start but DON'T be the way they are and act uninterested!!! Ambiance is ok as we sat on a small patio with flowers so that was good. We seriously doubt returning but you never know as we go to the beach a lot. Eugene and Clara Lake Worth Florida

Stuart B.

Yelp
Still as good as always. Large portions of fresh food sides are great. Friendly service .great variety of breakfast specials

Djemina B.

Yelp
This is a great place to enjoy a great breakfast and from what my daughter says "amazing hot chocolate " , her fish and chips were some of the best I've had . Nice staff , kee it up :)

Ginny L.

Yelp
Not what I expected initially since it is located in a strip mall close to a Publix but it is still an institution. They have seating outside (right by the parking lot) as well as inside booths and tables. It has an old diner vibe, clean but not new or fancy. It's reputation is well deserved. The French toast with almonds is some of the best I have ever had. Great place for a substantial breakfast. Gets crowded during the winter months so you may want to come early. The service was efficient and friendly.

Steve B.

Yelp
The food is pretty good. The service is good it's not a bad vibe. One thing I would like to see Johny G one day do is take credit cards they are a cash only business.

Kina F.

Yelp
We enjoyed the food and customer service yesterday at lunch time. Thank you young Nino the host that welcomed us in and sat us. His kind professional demeanor was so pleasant. We loved it so much that we came back the next morning July 29, 2024 for breakfast.

Nikki S.

Yelp
John G's has high ratings for breakfast but checking out of an AirBnB with 5 other people prohibited us from making it in time. Lunch service begins at 11am with a few items on the menu for brunch. John G's is cute. There is covered outdoor seating which sits back from the curb. It's nice because you're not investing car fumes or in the way of shoppers passing by. We dined inside which is as equally cute and comfy. Our party was greeted and sat at our preference. We ordered a variety of fried fish and a Cesar salad w/out anchovies. All of our food was good. We will be back for breakfast!

Ronald B.

Yelp
John G's Restaurant is our favorite breakfast/lunch restaurant. Wonderful food selections fast and personable wait staff. Love John G's

Ally N.

Yelp
Always have the best fish in town!! Highly recommend! And finally mimosas on the menu

Tony V.

Yelp
John G's is most importantly a local dining spot, located in Manalapan shopping center on Ocean Blvd. is a long established dining spot. They serve a well curated menu for Breakfast and Lunch with many classics including Chili, New England Clam Chowder , Burgers and Sandwiches. Service and quality is legendary.

Jordan G.

Yelp
Honestly dumbest restaurant I've been to in a long time. "John G's on the water" on the sign in the middle of a strip mall.. that's how it starts. Then, they're known for their French toast, but they stop serving breakfast food at 11:45 on Sundays. They close at 3 and only have lunch starting at 11:46. Sorry, didn't come for SCALLOPS. They also stop serving breakfast at 11:15 on weekdays. This place has no honor. I bet John G is rolling over in his grave. This a clown place. Never come here. The fish and chips were lousy too btw and the French toast was never anything special. If you're thinking of working here, don't.

Robert S.

Yelp
I usually love John G's but this time I can't give high marks for the food. I had my "usual", the Hawaiian Omelette. It had very little taste and the egg composition almost seemed watered down. Vegetables were fresh, but I would have liked them cooked a bit more. There also seemed to be not as much of the cheese sauce, which also seemed thinner and distributed at one end. The service was good, as usual. I got coffee delivered soon after I sat down. Like many businesses and restaurants especially are probably trying to stretch things so as not to have to raise prices anymore than they have already. A side note, they need to fix the legs on their tables Many of them have folded up napkins under the feet to try to keep tables from wobbling. Not professional to experience this. Hope these are easy fixes for them.

Deborah B.

Yelp
Visited first for lunch on 7/28 and was greeted by the owner's enthusiastic young son, Nino. He is a great ambassador for excellent customer service. It just got even better from there. We were a party of four. Two of our party ordered the Reuben and both agreed that it was the best they ever had.. The corned beef had minimal fat and a great blend of flavors. The seafood platter was amazing and easily shared between 2 people. Lastly, we ordered the little fish plate where the fish was broiled and tender and moist. Service was great and the ambiance was very family oriented. Cozy and not rushed. Everything was so good we're back for breakfast this AM.

LoRayne J.

Yelp
We've been traveling to John G's for years. Food is delicious and service is great. Wish it was closer or they'd have another location closer to Delray Beach!

Jean H.

Yelp
Food is still really good - fish exceptional - but the famous fruit combos don't deserve the fame (or the price tag) anymore. No fresh cut fruit beautifully displayed. Just the ubiquitous tiny white side bowl with sad little chunks of mushy melon and grapes that had clearly been sitting around in a container. Additionally, it was not crowded, but server was inattentive. One bright spot - still really clean and spacious.

Morleen B.

Yelp
My favorite lunch place whenever I visit my father-in-law. My favorite item to order is their, Gazpacho soup. I've even ordered it to bring home to my family and it travels well. Everything we've ever had is delicious. If you're going for lunch, you will not be allowed in until 11:30. The staff is wonderful. They helped us celebrate my father-in-law, spur of the moment when we brought him for lunch on his 100th birthday. They brought out a decorated brownie with a candle in it. He was so excited.

James R.

Yelp
Comfort food heaven. Nice staff, lots of favorites, well-arranged layout. Never fails to hit the spot.
