The Best Breakfast Restaurants in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"Rancho Park’s longstanding daytime spot John O’ Groats feels a bit like a country cottage transported to Los Angeles. The biscuits are a major draw, served in various forms ranging from bacon cheddar to chocolate chip, while pancakes and eggs dominate the rest of the morning fare. Sidle up to the counter, order some coffee, and pull out a book for a wonderfully relaxed breakfast." - Rebecca Roland

The 13 Best Brunch Restaurants In Santa Monica, Venice, And The Westside - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"This old-school diner is the kind of spot where you’ll sit next to a couple dissecting their granddaughter’s soccer game and debating the best dogsitter for their corgi over perfectly fluffy pancakes. Weekends usually mean you’ll wait, but you can always pour yourself a cup of self-serve coffee from the big carafe out front and wander over to the nearby golf course to continue living out your suburban fantasies. Once you sit down, focus on the classics and grab an order of the Biscuits From Heaven." - sylvio martins, cathy park, jess basser sanders

On the Grid : John O'Groats

"This no frills, family owned eatery has been argued by many to be the best breakfast/brunch on the Westside. Although the family named the restaurant after a tiny village in the north of Scotland, the fare is decidedly American comfort food. They have a great variety of specialty pancakes and egg dishes, including the Huevos O’Groats - a biscuit dough tortilla topped with black beans, sautéed onions and peppers, two eggs, shredded cheese, sour cream and salsa. Their biggest standout may be their biscuits as they are always prepared to order. This place is no secret to the masses though, so be prepared for a bit of a wait especially on weekends." - Clever Creative

Best Kid-Friendly Restaurants in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"There is something quietly comforting about the unchanging force that is John O’Groats, a family-owned, blue-gingham-covered daytime restaurant that has been slinging breakfasts and behemoth biscuits on West Pico Boulevard for more than 30 years. The place is incredibly kid-friendly: Find all the young diner requisites (scrambled eggs, pancakes, French toast, and crispy hash browns, among them), and prepare to be impressed by how determined the restaurant seems to be inclusive of dietary preferences and allergen sensitivities. The kids’ menu is also coloring paper — the restaurant provides the box of crayons." - Nicole Adlman

The Best Diners in Los Angeles - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"If you know—or are—a person who grew up on the Westside, John O’Groat’s is more than just a diner. It’s a place where you might have lost your first tooth or went every Saturday after soccer practice and ate buttermilk pancakes until your parents cut you off. That homey, small-town charm remains. Everyone inside this classic American diner on Pico is either reading the newspaper, swapping hot neighborhood gossip, or eating Biscuits From Heaven until they’re ready to nap. Yes, they’re actually called Biscuits From Heaven and yes, that’s an accurate description." - brant cox, sylvio martins, garrett snyder
