Went last night to celebrate mine and my boyfriend’s anniversary. Cheryl was our server and she was so sweet and provided top notch service!! The food was amazing as well. Will definitely come back.

Went with a larger group of 17 while in town for a basketball tournament. Such good Italian food! I had the lasagna which was excellent. Fried ravioli was delish! The wait staff were amazing and we loved the live music (piano player). This was such a great experience and we will be back next time we’re in the Kansas City area. Be sure to call ahead for reservations. We will definitely be back!

I got a combination platter that was okay... can't remember the name. The chicken parmesan was the best of the three of the three samples. I've just had more flavorful Italian food at other restaurants. Oh, the salad that my husband got and he shared was very good. The service and atmosphere were top notch. Live music with piano player was fun!

We went there for my birthday on a Chiefs Football Sunday and the restaurant was less crowded. Our food was so wonderful!!!

Johnny Cascones is always a favorite of mine. The food was delicious. The Alfredo was particularly good that night. Service is normally fantastic but this night service was very disjointed, the server was aloof and often passed out table 4-5 times o er the course of 10 minutes saying you need water but it never comes. They were nice and had good stories but not focused this night having only 3-5 tables, that also experienced the same level of service. Dinner was still great despite the rate off night. This is our go to place and took friends from out of town here.

Google
Food was delicious! Jay loved his sweet Italian sausage, and he doesnt usually like marinara, but he did like this one. Maria was so friendly, attentive and accommodating. I also noticed that the staff knew the names of several patrons, so they have many regulars. The Christmas decor was beautiful and I Love Christmas! Not our first time here, won't be the last! 😊

Google
What a wonderful experience! The staff are all super friendly. The Mozzarella is so creamy and flavorful. The portion sizes are worth the price. I got the Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken. Delicious and enough for three small meals. Definitely recommend!

We came here for a birthday party and had an area with several table reserved. Our group was over 20 people. The food was great and priced right. Nice selection on the menu to. The server was very nice he tried his best, there were couple of hiccups and they were taken care of, that's why there should have been 2 servers for this large group. After all had a great time great food. Definitely go again.

Yelp
Consistently good - love the atmosphere - friendly staff, good selections. Maria is an absolute sweetheart - she's been there forever and hope she continues to be blessed in all her hard work.

Yelp
This was a first and I really enjoyed the evening. Friendly staff, decent wait times, and the food was wonderful. The seafood stuffed artichoke is a must! First timer here and I loved it! Messy and worth it. Lots of seating with looks of yesteryear. Only thing that has probably changed is our ages.

Yelp
Classic Old School Italian Restaurant. They haven't changed in decades, they don't need too. The decor is a little dated. The carpet is a little worn, the clientele is a little older. It's exactly as I remembered it! If you are dining early, make a reservation. When you arrive, water and Bread arrive immediately after you are seated. If you are on a date or don't want to get your fingers dirty, skip the stuffed artichoke. The stuffed artichoke is delicious, flavorful, and you must use your fingers!! The half the staff are over 50 and have worked there for years. Their hospitality is warm and genuine. I usually get the Veal. The menu is classic Italian, but make sure you request fresh cracked pepper if you would like it. Grated fresh cheese is always offered.

Yelp
Our family treated us to dinner here for the very first time when we came to visit. We sat in the main dining area on a busy Saturday night, and it was a really great experience! Our food was spectacular, and our server was a pleasure to visit with as he shared his history with the restaurant. He had been there for over two decades ! We enjoyed it so much the first time that my grandsons wanted to return the next night to have more pasta. I also ordered spaghetti two nights in a row because it was that good!! Both nights we had fantastic servers. We sat in the bar area the second night in a cozy booth. We had an amazing server who was working the bar and she too shared that she had been there for 23 years & told us the family was so amazing to work for. (It's fun as a consumer to support a business like that. ) Anyways, we had shared we were visiting from Texas and when we got home with our leftovers, she had given us a cake and wished us a safe travels. I can't wait to return one day. Thanks to Jan and Amy for introducing us to Johnny Cascone's!!

Yelp
Fantastic food. Best Italian restaurant in Kansas City quick & easy for pick up. We've been going here since they first opened

Yelp
I came here craving some toasted rags and chicken parm. The staff were quick to get us seated and offered us bread and water right when we sat down. The toasted ravs were flavorful and the red sauce to pair was hearty and traditional. Their red sauce had a nice sweet hint at the end which makes it pair well. I had the weekly soup special which was clam chowder to pair with my chicken parm which was delicious. This is a great family friendly establishment for local authentic Italian food.

Yelp
We came here the other night to celebrate my birthday. I was trying to decide if I wanted to go to Lydia's, where I've never been to, or Cascone's and after reviewing the menus for both I decided on Cascone's. I always buy Cascone's spaghetti sauce at Costco cause it's so good but it had been a long time since we've visited not due to any particular reason. I ordered the Tortellini, my wife the lasagna, my mother got the pasta with meat sauce, my friends wife got the chicken parmigiana, and her husband got the Italian sampler with 3 foods. They immediately serve an entire loaf of Italian bread with butter and we also asked for some olive oil which was served generously. The portions are large, the prices very reasonable, the service was excellent, and most importantly the food was great! My tortellini had meat inside, prosciutto, mushrooms and peas in the sauce and it was so freaking good, omg. I managed to control myself and bring a little leftover for a snack last night, lol. Since it was my birthday they also served us a generous portion of spumoni ice cream for us to share. The ambiance inside is very nice as well. Overall a great experience!

Yelp
I've been going to Cascone's for over 25 years. They set the Standard in Italian Cuisine! 'Nuff Said! From Service To Food... 5 Star

Yelp
We have been coming here for years and love the food! Especially love the Italian Flag which comes with out of this world lasagne, fettucine Alfredo and chicken parmesan.

Yelp
Seemingly every 4 years, we will come here with one of our chosen-family-members as he goes off for a big life event. This past week was no different as we had dinner discussing his next big adventure. That is the thing about this restaurant. It's a great place to catch up, reminisce, and talk about just about anything. When you sit down, they will give you a huge loaf of sliced, sesame dusted Italian bread. I could make a meal of just their bread. I got the eggplant parm with a meatball (One meatball is perfect cause the portions are huge). The eggplant was perfectly crispy and lightly fried. It was so delicious. The suco is a little sweet for my tastes, but overall does the job. I also got a half salad. I actually exclaimed, "THAT'S a half?!" When it came out because it was so large. The salad is substantial ingredient wise. It has chickpeas, iceberg, sun dried peppers, olives, and cheese with Italian dressing. My partner had a shrimp and noodles bowl that looked so good, I was jealous when it came out. Our friend had a pasta bowl with meat sauce and he remarked it was delicious. We all shared a lemon cake at the end that was a little too artificially yellow, but very tasty with a hot coffee. I would recommend this place, for some authentic Italian food. Service was great. We probably stayed too late trying to get our goodbyes in.

Yelp
Friendly and attentive staff with a classic environment really makes you feel like part of the family at Cascone's. This is a family favorite, but for some reason it was my first time here. The meal starts with their ordinary looking bread that tastes anything but ordinary. It is constantly brought out fresh, warm, and fluffy. I had a loaf by my self and by the time our meals came out, I couldn't help but dip it in their wonderful sauces and finished another loaf. Their menu covers all of the Italian staples in addition to some of their specialties, all of which were fantastic. Not terribly expensive for a meal of this quality. Safe to say this place has shot up my list and I would love to come back soon!

Yelp
Ordered online through the Yelp app. Restaurant immediately sent receipt through email. I choose the Johnnys Classic, it was amazing, came with fresh bread and I chose the house salad as the side. All the food was amazing, the young man at the desk was immediately attentive to my presence and acknowledged my food and confirmed the order for correctness. Only downside was no plastic ware for Togo order and parking was jam packed. Might have to walk from larger parking lot to get to restaurant.

Yelp
I thought this place was okay but would come back and give it another try. My meal was good and the bread was okay. We really like the wine that we got and our service was really great. Just expected the food to wow me a little more.

Yelp
Really dI think the key to enjoying this place are the memories of who you came with, because it is certainly not good food. Our server was great, but the prices and quality were awful- which is where the fun begins! we will always remember "that time" w\(^-^)/e spent a LOT of money on merely edible Italian food, but there is NOTHING that can keep folks coming back. No dishes good enough to make you crave it, and you definitely can do much better at that price point, even across the street at Cinzettis. For the 5 star reviews- I'm guessing y'all never had good authentic Italian food, let alone great Italian food. 1. we had the lasagna. My kid didn't like it. not sure if it was the bland meat or the microwaved "texture" of the pasta 2. we had the mozzarella sticks- k these were actually pretty good 3. the calamari was pretty tough, didn't taste fresh at all 4. the stuffed mushrooms were weirdly good, albeit very bland and overpriced 5. we had a lemony chicken dish. It was lemony, and chicken-y, but not noteworthy 6. My eggplant parm was bad. not fresh, even had a bitter taste like the eggplant wasn't fully cooked which is creepy, the spaghetti noodles under it were even creepier and very al dente in a baaaad way 7. We had the chicken spedini...nothing special 8. and the Fettuccine Alfredo. Same barely cooked pasta with an ok white sauce.

Yelp
First time at Johnny Cascone's. It was wonderful. It is old style Italian restaurant. Once you walk in and are seated you will think you are in an Italian restaurant like you would see in the Godfather or an episode of Soprano's. They start by bringing out some good Italian bread with room temperature butter. Bread is good with butter or save some for sopping up the sauce from your main dish. Next had a Caesar salad. Big serving and great crotons. For the main course we had Veal Limonata and a Johnny's combo. The combo is lasagna, pasta, meatball and sausage. They were both delicious. The combo has there red Italian sauce. It was very thick with lots of mushrooms. The Veal dish had 3 big pieces of veal. Both serving were very big. We took home a lot of leftovers and the prices were very reasonable. Server, Patrick, was great. Being our first time, he was very helpful in describing the menu. Also, was a very friendly, in a good way, server. Is it the best Italian restaurant in town? Don't know - haven't been to every Italian place. However, this is the best we have been to so far. Food, atmosphere and service were outstanding. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
My family and I love this place. The food is great and the service is excellent. Our server, James, was extremely professional. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
We moved back to KC from Las Vegas. Cascone's is an old friend from our time here before. They catered my sons wedding. I had many business dinners and family gatherings here back in the day. The food is still authentic Italian and very good. I had the Chocken Parmigiana and it was stellar and a huge portion big enough for two meals. The wife had gluten free noodles with Chicken Limonata. Save room for dessert. Their Tiramisu is incredible. The chocolate and lemon cake slices are big enough to share.

Laura M.

Yelp
Food was good, as was the waitress. The seating was horrible. Seated right next to the serving station with only a pole between it and our table. The serving trays were shoved up next to us for the entirety of the meal which held plates that had been cleared from tables but not taken to the kitchen. My husband kept pushing it farther away from us, but one of the bus staff kept moving it right back. He couldn't look to the side without coming eye-to-eye with dishes of half consumed meals. Literally any other seat would have been better than this one. Had we not already been served drinks and appetizers, we would have asked to switch tables.

Yelp
For some reason we had never eaten here and were blown away by the food. This place takes it seriously. Everything was great and the servings are big enough that you'll have tomorrow's lunch. The server was great. The host dude was a bit grumpy but brightened up by the time we left. The dining room is old school and a bit tired, but we found it cool for some reason. Oh, a lot of people like this place as well. The place was nearly full by 6:30 on a Saturday.

Yelp
Our server tonight was Sicilian! Her mother is a 1st generation immigrant and loved her Italian food and culture so much, she dedicated her working years to serving others the same glorious food she loved, and passed on the same passion to her daughter. So fun! We loved our main dishes, Mannicotti ala Romana - meat stuffed pasta tubes in a creamy red sauce and the ITALIAN FLAG (baked Lasagna, Chicken Parmigiana and creamy Fettuccini Alfredo - No changes or substitutions allowed.) Considering how heavy an Italian pasta dish is, I really wish they came with a little house or Caesar salad on the side. But I did go ahead and order a Caesar separately and was glad I did! Everything was absolutely delicious, but I will say that the bread they gave us before hand was not only pretty boring, but they served it was slabs of cold butter. I'd suggest giving the guests room temp butter, if not a bit of whipped butter. The butter they gave just ripped the thin Italian loaf bread apart. Bummer!

Gabriella Q.

Yelp
The food is amazing here. The service is nice as well. Prices are a bit high but serving sizes are huge. This is definitely more of a casual jeans and t shirt type of Italian restaurant rather than super fancy. Very good vibes, dim lighting and comfortable seating.

Yelp
very good! food was delish, my waiter made me laugh, my girlfriend looked good in the lighting, they didn't give me silverware and i had to ask but other than that wonderful establishment.

Yelp
Always great food and great service! My favorite is the shrimp alfredo and casear salad. the lasagna and chicken parmesan.

Yelp
My wife and I had reservations for Sunday evening to celebrate our anniversary. This restaurant doesn't deserve the time I would normally give to review a restaurant establishment. The service was fair and I found the food not to be of very high quality. The waiter we had hadn't made any reference to it being our anniversary until she brought the check. At which point she asked if we'd like a dessert to celebrate our anniversary. As most places we've been offer a complimentary dessert to show their appreciation for choosing their restaurant to celebrate our special day, I assumed the dessert would not be charged to us. I was unpleasantly surprised when the waiter returned with a new bill and had added $10 for the piece of cake we ordered. This cheap move by the waiter was the icing on the cake to an already disappointing evening. In the future when we want Italian or to celebrate a special occasion, we definitely will be finding a different place to celebrate. I would encourage the reader of this review to do the same!

Mackenzie C.

Yelp
Staff was all super nice. Cute atmosphere of restaurant. We got a few items to try out, flavors just didn't work for our taste buds. A little bland.
google avatar

Tony G.

Yelp
Service here was top notch. Was treated like family. The restaurant was nice. I had the lasagna. It was ok. I prefer a red sauce that isn't so sweet. The $6 caesar salad was not worth the money. Had the tiramisu for dessert. It was very good. It was a nice restaurant to try but won't be going back.

Vicki S.

Yelp
Wow that was some bad Italian food! The sauce was easy too sweet. The mushroom appeyizer was tasteless as were the meatballs.. Service was good all be it the wsiyer a bit too chatty!

Joan C.

Yelp
Great service, delicious food. We love the specials. Best pork chops in KC. Fried chicken just like my dad used to make. We eat in the bar we live the staff. John, Mira are our usual servers they are thoughtful and make a Caesar salad to die for ! The seafood dishes are fresh! Even the busers pay attention.
google avatar

Crys F.

Yelp
Service is stellar here! I haven't been here since I was a kid, and memories if that glorious chicken pasta soup. So when I came in the other day I knew I had to have it again! The waiter in the bar was so nice, when I told him it was my favorite soup he gave me some extra to take home. The spaghetti was not my favorite, a little too sweet for me. But I will definitely be back for that soup!
google avatar

Philip A.

Yelp
Love Johnnys, always come here when visiting family in KC. We love the small atmosphere the wait staff is always very friendly and helpful and always refills the drinks quickly. The food is great, the pasta has a great taste and is so tasty. Haven't had a bad meal, and been coming for quite a few years.

Rita H.

Yelp
Excellent good Generous servings Everything was delicious Use lots of garlic so warning

Yelp
Gone. Gone. Gone !! This WAS one of my faves, now GONE from Legends in KC.... I am certainly not traveling to to Texas or some other state just to get my Chicken Spedini ! I ways remember a bunch of people in it each trip we made, day or evening!

Yelp
Fantastic hidden gem. Authentic Italian (for Kansas), interesting ambience, fiesty iler Italian waitress game some great reccomendations. Bread dipping service was awesome and inexpensive, all entrees were huge and enough for 2 people.

Meruyert I.

Yelp
Great food and friendly staff. Very family like feel. Famous sauce, famous fried chicken. Great wine selection. Beautiful deck with live music on Saturday nights.

Yelp
I'd go to a Johnny Cascone's more often than the ones e every three or four years that I do, but i takes a while for me to forget that it's not very good. I got carry out Seafood Pasta and the baked lasagna with a meatball added, Caesar salad, a couple pieces of cake 75 bucks! The caesar was terrible: a handful of romaine, two cellophane packets of tiny dried up croutons and a plastic packet of ceasar dressing. Obscene for $8. The Seafood Pasta was only ok. There was shrimp (pretty small), squid and clams (pretty rubbery) and some green lip mussels on the half shell, green lip mussels are always previously frozen. The sauce was pretty ok flavored, the wine was a little strong and the consistency was pretty watery. Inexcusably the pasta was overdone. The lasagna was ok, nothing special, I can do better at home, the meat layers were a little skimpy. The meatball tasted like a LOT of filler and a little meat. The sauce was watery and the pasta was really soft. I'm glad it's a local business and seems to do pretty well. It was pretty busy when I picked up my order on a Saturday evening. It's just not that good and certainly not a good value

Yelp
3 1/2 stars. This place needs décor updating STAT. There was a tear in the upholstery of the booth we were seated in- gross. Visible dust on the wine bottles used as décor in the windowsills, and crookedly hung 'art' on the walls. But all that aside- our waitress was wonderful and attentive, and the food was very good. The complimentary bread they serve is like that 99 cent loaf you can get at any grocery store- booooring- but for $3.95 more they bring this incredibly tasty garlic dipping sauce. Well worth it. I had the tortellini with peas and mushrooms. The tortellini was nothing special, but the sauce was absolutely incredible. I'd be happy just with a bowl of that. The rest of my companions were pleased with their food, although not blown away. My mom really loved the lemon sauce on her orange roughy dish. The side salads were wonderful- served with garbanzo beans and sweet peppers. I'd happily return here if they spiff it up and do some cleaning and updating, because the food is good and our server was excellent.

Yelp
I am incredulous that this place gets any good reviews. Entrees are mediocre at best, service was awful, and with those two being true the prices were outrageous. Save the trip and get some real food at Ragazza. I ordered the Canelloni Florentine which advertises itself as a baked dish with a light tomato sauce. It is likely not baked as it was not served in a baking dish, and was completely drowned in a heavy red sauce that was lukewarm and clearly applied to the dish right before serving. Probably almost two cups of sauce. Couldn't even see the dish under it. Tasted terrible and I couldn't finish it. My wife ordered chicken fettuccini Alfredo. She said the breaded chicken was alright but the Alfredo didn't have much flavor. The service - waitress got our appetizer order wrong. Then, she tried to take dishes off our table (salad and appetizers) twice and we had to shoo them off as we weren't done - finally on the THIRD REQUEST we just let them do it. It was really ridiculous. Then they throw a receipt at you with no folio. $70 later and I'm strongly considering purging this food out of me.

Yelp
This is my first visit to Johnny Cascone's. I had veal in a lemon butter sauce over fettuccine. Along with a Caesar salad, I thought the meal was authentic, and of very good quality. Looking forward to other items on the menu when on my next visit to KC. Excellent service. Recommended.....

Yelp
We've been coming to Johnny Cascone's for years and it's never let us down! After several years of being away from KC, we came home to visit my parents and they took us here for a birthday celebration. So glad to get back here as the food is ALWAYS delicious! We ordered the always-awesome Calimari Fritti and it was an stellar as I always remembered it! However, we had forgotten how incredible the Traditional Antipasto was - WHOA! Do NOT leave this place without trying it!!! The soups and house salads are also to die for! While I loved the Chicken Marsala I ordered, I couldn't help nibbling off my brother's Chicken Spedini dish!!!! It was utterly amazing and I wished I had ordered it instead! I cannot wait to get back to Johnny's so I can order my own Chicken Spedini and not allow anyone else to nibble off my plate!!

Yelp
Our party was pleastly surprised by the service and food offerings at our recent visit. The Sugo was excellent and we ended up purchasing a serving to take home with us and the left overs. The serving staff was very welcoming and great on timing for each portion of our meals. We look forward to making a return trip and hope you can make it out to this gem of a resturaunt.

Yelp
Lot of mixed reviews for this place on yelp so I decided to try it for myself. Starting off, it was packed Saturday night at 7pm. we waited 15-20 minutes. Atmosphere: Pretty casual for the most part in terms of service and approach with some finer qualities such as live music and home-like decor. place has family pictures and seasonal decorations. Service: Pretty standard for the most part. Food: I ordered the Italian flag. My food came out hot and tasted pretty fresh to me. I saw some Yelpers say it tasted like frozen/microwavable food. Friend ordered the chicken limonata Elaina. This was very odd tasting, but not necessarily a bad way. The lemon and white wine was definitely overpowering...so for those with sensitive palates, I might suggest ordering something else. Friend is italian. Says it reminds her of simple home cooking without overcomplicating the dishes. I do agree the red sauce is sweet, but I do not mind it at all. I may have gotten used to it from my friends family meals (sauce taste similar to theirs). Again, if you are sensitive to taste and want a fine balance, it may not be the best quality to you based on the price of the food. Priced on the steeper end, but not bad once in a while. Overall 3.5 to 4

Yelp
Initially we were disappointed because they had a limited menu for the holidays, but that's where the disappointment stopped. My husband got the chicken parm, which was perfectly cooked and the sauce was perfection- sweet and garlicky, just like my grandmothers. I got the Alfredo and spinach pasta dish. They don't skimp on the sauce at all, and everything is so good. The holiday decor was classy and beautiful, and the service was great- never had to ask twice for anything, water was always full. I think our waitress was having a rough day, her attitude could have been better, but it didn't affect the level of service at all. I would recommend this restaurant in a heartbeat though.

Yelp
We LOVED our dining experience! It was the perfect place for my Birthday lunch. Patrick, our server, was top notch, and he made sure our time there was perfect. The atmosphere was relaxing and the food was cooked to perfection. The delicious cocktails and wine were the icing on the cake! This restaurant will become a tradition whenever we are back in the area.

Yelp
There are several good Italian restaurants in Kansas City, and Johnny Cascone's definitely makes the cut. They have a number of great menu items and offer several daily specials. I'm always on a quest to find the best of the best when it comes to food. However, instead of labeling an entire restaurant as my favorite or the best, I tend to identify select menu items that evoke a personal craving sensation, earning a spot on my best list. Johnny's actually has three items that make the list and continually call me back. First, they have a special on Sunday that serves up some of the best fried chicken in town. Ok, so that's not exactly Italian, but it's so good. It's crispy, flavorful, juicy and tender, with all the sides and your choice of soup or salad. It's a must try! Second and more on the Italian side of things, their cheese filled ravioli is made fresh daily. In my opinion, there isn't anyone else's who comes close to being as good. Third, and this one might seem silly, but I'm a cheese lover, and without question JC's has the BEST hand breaded fried mozzarella. I would go there just to eat it alone! While we are talking about the best, it should be said that Cascone's probably has the best jar spaghetti sauce in town as well. I'm just saying. If you haven't tried Cascone's Original Pasta Sauce, it's worth picking up at the grocery store the next time you're stocking the pantry. It will become a household favorite and instantly step up your spaghetti game at home (unless of course you make your sauce from scratch). No matter if you're eating out or in, Cascone's has something good to offer. I'm sure if you check it out, you'll find a few "best" items of your own.

Yelp
As good as ever, been coming here for years from the staff , the house salad, meatballs, pasta, lasagna...everything is top notch... if I'm in a hurry the meatball sandwich is my go to

Yelp
I was here recently performing a show and was impressed with the staff and food. Tucked away from Metcalf, the building is unassuming but well marked. Being their for a unique experience, I did not sit down and eat but did get a taste of how they operate and was given a to-go box afterwards. An old Italian eatery feel, Cascone's, for being a chain restaurant, still keeps a unique vibe that pays tribute to an authentic feel. Portions are large so definitely be prepared to leave with a doggie bag and the menu is quite expansive so it may take time to decide. The staff I interacted with was friendly, accommodating, and professional. With a full bar selection, you can enjoy a glass of your favorite beverage, eat some flavorful Italian, and leave with a few leftovers. Again, since I was there for an event, I want to go back and try it again in the traditional sense. Happy dining!

Yelp
I've always loved the cuisine at Johnny Cascone's. It's absolutely the best for classical Italian food. My favorite is the "Italian Flag Combo," which is a sampler of lasagna, chicken parmesan and alfredo pasta. The interior of the restaurant is charming and I find it to be an ideal place for business lunches. They also offer a large banquet room which I've reserved at least 6 times over the past 10 years. It is a beautiful room with projector, PA, and a great ambiance. I've used it for wedding anniversary parties, business presentations and company Christmas parties. Cascone's provides the room at no charge when you are buying your group a meal. Service during these events was always fast and attentive. It's clear that they give importance to the people in the banquet room - getting back quickly to each person regarding food and drink, appetizers and desserts, wine and beer, etc.
