Pretty terrible cooking, I got to say. The Mac and cheese is something that’s definitely been made fresh another day and I’m not eating left overs. Then my French dip was probably the weirdest French dip I’ve seen. My wife had corn dog minis and those were even burnt. The owner really needs to evaluate who he has as his chief cause they’re not cooking to a good standard.

Fries were barely warm. Food served on a dirty tray. I showed the girl working the counter. She kind of looked embarassed but said nothing. Turned around and continued eating some mac and cheese in the window where the food is sent from the kitchen to the counter. Updated with pic of dirty tray and the girl's food in the serving window. That is NOT a table. I'll not be back.

I've eaten here twice. The first time, I got a pulled pork sandwich, which was as expected in terms of portion size, taste, and price. The second time, both my wife and I got the blackened chicken sandwich with fries. The flavor was good, but the portion size of the chicken filet was shockingly small. The portion of the fries was basically a double order of a large fries. I imagine this was to make up for the tiny chicken filet. IMO, that's not really a fair trade off. We were both pretty disappointed in it, especially since it was $13 for what amounted to the equivalent of a McD's hamburger and double large fry.

Jan 22 2025, 5:55 pm. Ordered two double Wagyu burgers, one with reg fries, one with sweet potato fries, and two diet Pepsis. Order total with tip came to just under $60. At $30 per meal I expected to be pretty blown away. Service was good atmosphere was good. Food was very mid. But the biggest problem was that the burger was the SMALLEST hamburger I think I’ve ever been served…. For reference, I’m 6 foot tall, 185, average guy. I’m guessing the burgers were 2-3 oz Patties before cooking. I’ve also had Wagyu ground beef before and this did not taste like that. This tasted like your average 80/20 ground chuck. I’d like to reiterate that the food quality is not bad, and the service was good. But I will never spend $60 on two burgers the size of a half dollar again. We’re talking 3-4 bites.

Three years ago, the Johnny Roger’s location on Concord Parkway was my favorite lunch spot. Best burger in town. When I discovered the Gibson Mill location, I frequented that location, as well, and I used to enjoy it. Not anymore. The “shrinkflation” concept is a joke, and the prices are ridiculous. Last night, I ordered a BBQ bacon burger and two orders of mini corndogs for the table. $37 with tip. AND it took forever. The burger was an absolute joke. Maybe 1/8 lb. And the mini corndogs were over cooked. These problems have persisted for some time now. Additionally, they’ll close early and unexpectedly WELL before the posted closing time, and they are consistently out of various menu items. This, after reducing the menu offerings considerably over the years. My family and I are frequent Gibson Mill customers and HIGHLY recommend Gibson Mill as a destination, but SKIP THIS PLACE unless you want a disappointing burger for $15-20. If you want the best food at Gibson Mill for the best value, enjoy a fantastic meal at Thai Esane, a few feet down from Johnny Roger’s, or try the Mediterranean place or the pizza place. And for dessert, you will never go wrong with Petalcakes!!! But don’t bother with Johnny Roger’s. They took a great restaurant and ran it into the ground and drove this customer (and his family and friends) away.

This location is inside a large warehouse with old beam ceilings and a lot of brick work. I got the Large Pulled Pork Platter and my wife got the Cheeseburger. We both had fries and I also had baked beans. The food was good and the service was great. If in the area again I would go back some good sauces to choose from as well.

Very good BBQ! My Wife and I had their food for the first time and I gotta say it was really good! I got the chicken tender platter with fries and my wife got the bird house. (chicken tenders): PROS: - price - portion size - tenders were very crispy - fries had perfect crunch and softness of potato. - made fresh. Definitely wasn't sitting. CONS: - breading needs more seasoning. It lacked spice like garlic powder, salt or pepper. - need 2 dipping sauces served. Bird House: PROS: - price - portion size - love the pulled pork added to the baked beans. - the BBQ used on the pulled chicken was good and has a little kick at the end. - coleslaw was noms! - fries were perfect. Crispy and fluffy. CONS: - sauce for the pulled chicken seemed like it could have been mixed a bit better as some areas were stronger on the sauce than other. Something else I really liked was that they make everything to order. So you know the food is fresh. If you are not able to wait 10-15 mins than this might not be the place for you, but don't sleep on it. Lastly, the staff. Everyone was super friendly. Happy to support a family owned business! Keep up the great work!

Located at the Gibson Mill food court, this place offers BBQ and Burgers. We ended up just ordering the GOAT burger and fries. The burger was food, and the toppings with the goat cheese, onions and aoli were good. The only down fall, the burgers aren't fresh ground beef. Pre formed frozen burgers. You can taste it. Also no temps on burgers, everything is WELL WELL DONE. Fries were crispy and hot. Also the BBQ sauces were amazing. The Carolina Gold, for dipping fries is the WAY TO GO.

Yelp
The GOAT burger was very tasty. The French fries were very good also. I ordered online which is more expensive than ordering it inside the restaurant. Everyone was very nice and friendly. They had plenty of seats inside and outside.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this food hall while in the area and decided upon Johnny Roger's! The menu looks good and the vendor's area clean, so three of us ordered from here. I ordered the blackened chicken wrap with American cheese instead of provolone, and a side salad instead of fries. It definitely seemed like the people at the counter were a little overwhelmed and flustered but still got through the order of myself and my friends. When the "it's done!" buzzer went off the food was just on the counter off to the side waiting so it was kind of just an honor system to make sure you take what's yours. That was fine, but the one thing I didn't like was they had my receipt sitting ON the wrap instead of next to the tray. I just wouldn't have put receipt tape on food (they also did this on my friend's wrap, with a toothpick through it). It was a little difficult to get someone's attention long enough to get a fork with my salad (my friend didn't have to ask for one, his salad had one) but I eventually got one. The food itself was absolutely wonderful! Great portions and flavors. I enjoyed it a lot. I was surprised how big the side salad was. The wrap was delicious. I had to take half of it to go! I would go back if in the area but won't drive super out of my way to return.

Yelp
Went to Johnny Rogers in Gibson mill and got the goat cheese burger and sweet potato fries. They had everything out and it was a pretty good burger. I love all things goat cheese so I knew what I was getting right when I saw the burger description. They had bbq on the menu as well.

Yelp
People working their were very nice but Average BBQ. $3.99 for a soft drink is robbery.

Yelp
Super good!!!! The person at the counter was really helpful and patient while we ordered! We got there right after they opened, so we were basically their first customers, and because of that, it did take a bit to get our food, but everything was so tasty and fresh!!!! We ordered the 2 hot dog combo, all the way! The hotdogs were so meaty and good, the toppings were fresh!!!! They were so messy in the best way!!! The fries on the side were perfect!!!!! My mom ordered the goat cheese burger with fries, it was very different, but good!!!! It really worked, the goat cheese was creamy, it was a nice mix of sweet and savory, with all of the flavor combos going on! My son got chicken tenders and fries- so good!!!!! Well seasoned and breaded!!!! We tried multiple sauces from the place and all were delicious and unique tasting!!!!!! Friendly staff, great food, and just an overall pleasant experience for us. We will be back for sure and definitely recommend this place to anybody who is big on bbq or American style food!!!!! I wish I would've taken pics, but that's how you know the food was good! It was gone!!!!

Yelp
Don't order bbq thinking this is "NC BBQ", well definitely not Lexington style BBQ. Big portions. Dry BBQ. Wish I had chosen the burger instead. Wife said her wrap was really good but said she'd try a different spot in the food hall. Wasn't terrible, just not what I expected.

Yelp
The staff are always incredibly friendly, and the G.O.A.T. burger changed who I am as a person. The sided are also phenomenal, and the barbecue is to die for.

Yelp
You can't go wrong with JR at either location BUT I wish they had their kids meals at Gibson Mill. We love going to GM with the kids but it's either that my kids split an adult meal or get their own and that gets expensive. I also wish they would bring back their onion rings- they were THE BEST!!

Yelp
The Ocean Isle was a great burger, just wish there was more meat. Would definitely recommend a second patty when you order. The dressing was good and the fries were solid! Tasted slightly like a Big Mac!

Yelp
Took 45 minutes to get a hotdog and sandwich. It wasn't very crowded and the food was just ok. I'd recommend any of the other restaurants here before this place.
