"Three months after the owners of the Johnny White’s trio of bars announced the closure of Johnny White’s Corner Pub on Bourbon Street, the news has come down that the original, Johnny White’s Bar on St. Peter Street, is also closed for good. NOLA.com reported Friday, September 4 that the 51-year old, 24/7 dive bar and local institution will not reopen, citing the financial risk of owning a bar during the pandemic, the uncertainty of a timeline for reopening, and the “manner” in which the local and state governments have handled things. For a full history of the bar, see Keith Spera’s story in NOLA.com." - Clair Lorell

Super nice service. I had a salad with balsamic that was ok and my husband had the voodoo burger that he liked. Ice tea and beer was good

So sad the Bourbon St bar closed! 🍻😥⚜️ It was an amazing dive bar with amazing bartenders! Super friendly & unpretentious. Great place to catch a game too. Their bar around the corner on St. Peter is still open. Their bartenders & bar is still great but can't catch a game there & watch the parade of people on Bourbon St.

Terrible service... long wait times for sub par food. We waited over an hour And the place was empty. There were only 2 waiter/waitress on duty and they were terrible. Susan only offered us a dessert for our long wait..... she's not even the manager and claimed they were too busy to care about the customers. We spent over $100 here and they didn't have a problem taking a 18%tip on top of our bill since we had 5 people. Even though we already complained about the long wait. I would not eat here!! There's other great places to eat in New Orleans.... find another one.

Been here twice. Both times were wonderful. Balcony seating both times (you may have to request it during busy times). Pretty fast seating; I didn't have to wait. Food was scrumptious. Service was friendly and pleasant. Great bloody marys. A bit pricy if you're on a tight budget. But definitely worth being the "nice meal" of the trip. It's not THAT expensive but it's not Sonic either. I will go there every time I come to New Orleans from now on!!!!

Me and my husband had lunch on the balcony on Halloween. We waited about 5 minutes once we were sat before being acknowledged. Then a server walked by and stated she would be right with us. Then we waited another 5 minutes before she came back. She brought my husband's drink out after a bit but forgot mine. I waited another few minutes for my drink. Food came out quickly. My husband ordered chicken fingers. The server did not bring out any bbq sauce. We waited another 5 minutes for the sauce. Food was mediocre. When we finished eating she was no where to be found. We had to find another server to get our check. We were then told gratuity was already added since it was a holiday. Then we saw why we got such awful service. The server didn't have to work hard and earn her tips.

Wonderful view on the balcony, that is the only good thing I can say about our experience. The server took our drink order, my wife and I each ordered a drink and a glass of water the drinks were not great and we never got the water even with a couple of reminders. After 40 minutes (with other tables with larger groups being seated after us had their food order taken) I flagged the server down after a couple of ignored attempts, we finally had our food order placed. Then it took another 35 minutes to get the food (our appetizer came out after we had recieved our entrees) the food was no where as good as other places we have eaten in New Orleans. My recommendation would be pass this establishment and go elsewhere.

Yelp
One of many shotgun style dive bars on St. Philip. Close to Pat O's. This used to be the old Johnny White's (RIP to that great bar). Not much has changed other than some new branding. The inverted Nike logo with the slogan "Over do it" is clever. Really great bar tenders. It' s not as cheap as it used to be. The bathrooms are abysmal. It has a Touchtunes juke box. My main complaint is that the music is always so loud, you can barely hear the person sitting next to you. It's weird to see Malort on a bar menu and their Michelada (which is fantastic) is called the Chi-town Michelada which makes me wonder if there's a Chicago connection (cursory Google didn't reveal anything).

Yelp
i am so happy my friend asked if i wanted to check out this place before heading to brunch! this place has hh from 8am-3pm. we both got the bloody mary and it was so goood that i ordered another one! the bartender was also super friendly. i will def come back here next time im in nola. i am sure this bar gets busy. but glad we went early enough that it wasn't crowded.

Yelp
Dive bar at its finest! Music is great! Bartender is awesome! Best Irish coffee on the planet! Shots are awesome! You HAVE to try the starburst tequila!!! Trust someone who haunts the streets of this city, try this spot!

D'Anna S.

Yelp
Who doesn't love a good dive bar!? This is definitely a good one! The prices are very reasonable, the krewe is friendly, the drinks give what they're supposed to give! Bonuses for the big TVs that are angled perfectly and the karaoke machine so you and your friends can sing your tipsy hearts out. For the locals who want to be near bourbon but not on bourbon this is your spot.Tourists y'all can come too!

CRashawn T.

Yelp
Vibe is great . Reagan is the best Very Lowkey vibe, I'd your looking for something slightly off the strip, but still good music & good vibe, clean bathrooms !

Angie D.

Yelp
Happy Easter Y'all! Hanging with my favorite Peeps at High Grace, one of the best hidden jewels in the Quarter. Friendly local bartenders, great prices and fresh popcorn too. It's super easy to get to, St Peter right off Bourbon, also a good home base for parades. Atmosphere is relaxed, stop by!!

Anne N.

Yelp
Our server, Jason, was fantastic, kind, and accommodating. This bar has the best selection of drinks and offers the most unique atmosphere in Bourbon. Must stop if you're new to the area!!!! Ask for the drink that catches on fire!! ;)

Courtney K.

Yelp
This is a self-described dive bar- but for some reason, even as a local, I wasn't expecting the music to be blaring. Everyone had to yell to be heard- the person sitting directly next to me at the bar, the bartender to me, me to the bartender. Service was friendly but we had to go elsewhere solely because of the volume level.

Brooke L.

Yelp
Best bar in the quarter if not the whole city! Especially for locals. I always love coming here. And I love bringing family and friends here when visiting. I've met the owner a couple times and he is so nice! The drinks are great, service is excellent , and vibes are phenomenal! I'll always support this business

Raelle C J.

Yelp
I must say !!!! If I could go anywhere in the quarter while in New Orleans it would be here. But for one main reason --- my girl REGAN!!!! She has the most excellent service and make you feel like you're home chatting with a friend! 100 out of 10 experience all due to her! The dude Jason ...kinda weird vibes. Only go for Regan!!!

Alejandro L.

Yelp
iixii was the best bartender I've had in all my travels! From California to Florida stopping at all the cool bars, high Grace has been the best bar, especially since it's 24 hours

Shannon B.

Yelp
High Grace NOLA is a must stop, right off of Bourbon Street! We initially stopped in for a quick drink and ended up staying for hours and going back 3 more times (different days), because the bartenders and the owner are THE BEST, thank you Rob, Regan and Jason. Your warm welcome, generosity in sharing favorite restaurants, and really great company were a true highlight of our vacation. We will be back (all the way from California!):)

Megan B.

Yelp
Bad drink, terrible service. Bartender was rude with a ton of attitude. She was also incapable of telling me what was in the listed drinks, and even described one as "it's basically all of our shittiest alcohol in one drink." When I giggled at that description, she had even more attitude.

Matt L.

Yelp
Coconut instead of passionfruit in a hurricane. Somehow worse than the gallon mix. Shittiest bartenders in New Orleans.

Nahtalie K.

Yelp
Cute and quaint place to have really good drinks at a reasonable price.. happy hour is amazing.

G I.

Yelp
Found this place in the French quarter but unlike the other establishments, the drinks are reasonably priced and the bar tender very friendly. Happy hour is every day from 8 am to 3 pm, even on weekends! No food is served but there is popcorn. Definitely worth a stpo!!

Genevieve F.

Yelp
They have one of my favorite beers - Mango Cart so I have to stop in at least once a week. The staff is wonderful. I A all the bartenders there, but River is absolutely the sweetest bartender and she mixes a mean drink. Stop in and enjoy some libations.

Ruaraidh M.

Yelp
High Grace is amaze balls, Rob has been amazing and the service has been incredible. We love visiting New Orleans and used to frequent Johnny Whites whenever we were in town. Now we live here High Grace is fast becoming our go to local bar. The prices are cheap and the drinks are first class. Anyone who comes to NOLA really should come check it out. They won't want to leave. Johnny Whites legacy is in good hands.

Robert C.

Yelp
Great time at High Grace tonight. A nice calm environment away from the Bourbon Street madness but close enough to go back. Prices way cheaper. Bartnder was nice will def go back on my next trip or maybe before I leave this trip.

Debra A.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. I immediately felt welcomed. Every time I return I feel like part of a family. Everyone is great, but if I singled out any employee it would be Regan. She is absolutely entertaining while giving great service. She's the first one that made me feel like more than a customer. Also, I definitely think they all give great service, but Regan gives off a special energy while she's working.

Emily F.

Yelp
Jason and Regan were the best!! They gave us recommendations on places to eat and drink in the city and were amazing bartenders while were there. Amazing happy hour 10/10 bar in New Orleans

Aimee S.

Yelp
Oh my gosh!! Let me start with jason. He is hot. He is fabulous. He is entertaining and super nice. He makes a mean cocktail. The drinks are great as is the location. Recommend wholeheartedly.

Katie C.

Yelp
Regan was such an amazing and accepting bartender would highly recommend to everyone to come here!

Charlie T.

Yelp
Favorite place in the French quarter to grab a quick cocktail or beer. Right among to bustle surrounding Bourbon Street but somehow feels laid back and cozy.

Carina C.

Yelp
This is a great spot. My girlfriend and I stopped here as part of a Pride bar crawl. I lost my sweater that night and the owner was extremely kind in helping me try to find it the next day- went even as far as checking security footage. Highly recommend as a queer friendly and all around welcoming spot!!

Jade H.

Yelp
We were sent to this bar by Kyle from the Dungeon and we were told to ask for river and she was amazing. Really friendly and made me a drink that I was craving. She made me a malibu, soda, and lavender syrup cocktail and oh my god it's my new favorite drink. She greeted us when we first came in really friendly even though she didn't know we were there to sit at the bar for her service specifically. Will be back!

Maribeth G.

Yelp
High Grace was effing AMAZING!!!!!! We happened into this bar and met the most aaahhhh-mmmaazing people, namely Jason and Regan, who both bartend AND make High Grace the No. 1 bar I will recommend to everyone heading to Nola! They gave us the best tips on places to visit while here also! Loved HIGH GRACE!!!

Elena G.

Yelp
I love High Grace! A local favoritee, great bartenders, reasonably priced drinks , and super dog friendly!

Dennis H.

Yelp
Right off Bourbon street this bar is super chill and so fun! The service is great you feel right at home. Krystan gave us amazing service and had fantastic drink recommendations. Also arcade and a working pay phone (in 2023) in the back.

Margot B.

Yelp
The vibe of this bar is great! Right across the street from Pat O'Briens and right off bourbon street you cant go wrong! Kristen, the bartender was fantastic!

Millie L.

Yelp
My new favorite spot in the quarter! My boyfriend and I stoped in for one after the signs outside made us laugh and now we stop in whenever we need a break from the chaos on bourbon. 10/10 recommend the trail by fire cocktail that literally lights on fire!

Connie C.

Yelp
We were staying at the Bourbon Orleans hotel and asked for a good local "classy" dive bar. High Grace was the answer, a block away, a few feet off Bourbon Street. We had a fun afternoon. Rob (the owner) was great, and recommended a couple of restaurants for us to try during our stay. Friendly crowd, great ambience, felt at home. Try the "flaming" drink or the "duckie" drink -- you won't go wrong. The rotating daily burritos are awesome, too.

Sarah V.

Yelp
Jason and Regan are the f*ckin best! Great atmosphere and love the community feel!! They make you feel so comfortable and give great recommendations about the city!! Stop by - totally worth it!!

Stephen Z.

Yelp
Hey , I was having one heck of a day. We traveled to New Orleans from Chicago. Our trip started out bad. Traffic on the way to the airport, early check in problems. And so on. My wife and I needed to sit and relax. We stopped in High Grace and got the opportunity to do that. It was like stepping into our favorite bar. What made it most special was the bartenders, Regan and Jason. All of our problems faded away. We never felt more comfortable. This place is the best. Plus they have Malort. It's a Chicago staple. Love this place! Big ups!

Ray N.

Yelp
Great Dive Bar! Regan is FANTASTIC!!! Best bartender in town.
