NYC’s New Restaurant Openings - New York - The Infatuation

"This Chinese-Peruvian restaurant in Williamsburg, steps from Veselka, specializes in rotisserie chicken—and just as importantly, aji verde, arguably the most delicious green sauce known to humankind. (But don’t tell chimichurri, pesto, or persillade we said that.)" - will hartman, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah, bryan kim

Just went here last night. It was recommended by a friend and is a nice chill spot. I got the half chicken and fries (good portion) and my wife got the ribs. We shared the cesar salad and there was a good amount to share for two. The staff is really friendly as well.

This was one of our favorite restaurants that we tried during our visit. The food was delicious - highly recommend the lomo saltado and ribs! Both were flavorful and tender. Finished it off with their cookie skillet. Service was also excellent!

Went to Johnny's at 6pm on a Tuesday and had no trouble getting seating. Right now, it's walk in only which is nice given the space. Ordered the frozen lychee pisco sour and that was a lovely treat for a summer day. Food: Very solid! The green sauce is on point. Would also recommend the yuca fries if you want to spice up your life. The ribs: unexpected standout. Order these Chicken: no more special than a standard rotisserie chicken. Could've been more moist Potato croquets: really liked these, a bit rich but nice and tasty. Garden salad: really nice salad, sizable portion, would order again. Saw a lot of the tables ordering the Cesar. The meh: fried rice, wontons. Wouldn't order these again.

If you want to have a good fusion of both worlds, come to this restaurant and try out Peruvian-Chinese style!! The decor inside the restaurant gives a nice ambiance and very comfortable setting to have a friendly hangout a simple casual date. Excellent service overall and very catering The food choices are simple, yet delicious and very reasonably priced! I highly recommend getting the lomo saltado: the flavor profile is excellent with bitable portion and evenly cooked! The half chicken was my favorite by far, both from the sauce and also the chicken was very tender, not overly salty, easy to pull like pulled pork and the sauce made the flavor profile very refreshing and contrast! Most chickens rotisseries are generally too hard to chew or dried out; but this was well tendered! Sometimes it is better to keep the menu simple and retain the quality!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This new spot is an absolute gem—perfect for group outings, date nights, or even solo meals at the bar. The menu has something for everyone, and everything we tried was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. We ordered the jalea (fried calamari, fish & shrimp)—crispy, well-seasoned, and not greasy at all. The variety of seafood was a nice touch, and the special sauce it came with really elevated the dish. The lomo saltado was a standout: tender, flavorful stir-fried beef that I’d highly recommend. The rotisserie chicken was juicy and paired perfectly with a zesty green sauce that had just the right amount of heat. The ribs were also juicy and nicely seasoned, and the yuca frita was a must-try alternative to regular fries—crisp on the outside, soft inside. The vibe is upbeat and lively, especially when it gets busy—it can be a bit loud, but it adds to the energy. The window into the kitchen is a fun touch if you like to see the action behind the scenes. I’ll definitely be back to try more dishes. Flavor, atmosphere, and service were all on point!

Truly obsessed with this neighborhood gem. Serving up heartwarming and generous plates, it’s cozy, no-frills straight-up comfort without pretentiousness. Love the lomo saltado, the combo plates (I dream about the ribs), yuca fries, fried wontons, sesame Caesar salad to round out a menu full of crowd-pleasers. Prices are refreshingly fair and portions are generous enough to feed your soul. So glad Johnny’s moved into the neighbourhood, it’s already a favorite.

True family-owned and run with delicious food and drinks! Perfect croquetas - crispy and textured outside with soft and creamy inside and the best chicken with fried rice, flavorful throughout and moist.

Freakin’ loved this place! I had seen a post on Greenpointers about this spot opening and had to go. I went on a trip to Peru in April and have been raving about the food ever since. This place satisfied the fix and was cheaper than a plane ticket back to Cusco. We got the Chilcano & Frozen Lychee Pisco Sour to drink, both good in their own ways. To eat, my wife and I shared the veggie chaufa, small order of ribs, and a quarter chicken. The value for the money was amazing. We had enough leftover to take a doggy bag with us. That green sauce needs to be bottled and sold immediately. I’d have it on subscription! Already planning to come back to try the Limo Saltado and Lo Mein. The vibe is laid back but still a nice date night spot. Would also be fun with a group!

Yelp
YUM, YUM, YUM! It's been a long time since I've dined at a restaurant that had me going "hmmmmm" throughout the entire meal. We showed up early on a Sunday evening without a reservation, and they still managed to squeeze us in. We started with the sesame Caesar, and it was absolutely PERFECT beautifully dressed with just the right amount of savory, acidic dressing, and the sesame-saltine crumbles added an ideal bit of texture. The vegetable lo mein was also excellent: nicely salty from the soy sauce without being greasy, and the vegetables tasted fresh with a satisfying bite. But the ribs were the undeniable star of the night. They had a wonderful smoky flavor, perfect tenderness, and that sticky, delicious sauce that makes you want to lick your fingers clean. The price point was very reasonable for both the quality of the food and the area. If I lived closer, this would definitely be a spot I'd visit often.

Yelp
i definitely looked forward to this visit but i hyped up my own expectations a little too much :/ Johnny's overall is a great concept but definitely a little different from traditional peruvian food. Everything was super tasted and well cooked, except our second 1/4 chicken was cooked poorly. Loved the sauce and dessert! Super tasty!!! Cocktails were not super sweet and the crushed ice just killed the drink for myself. Bartenders we're somewhat attentive but definitely busy. Bartenders were kind and somewhat attentive. Super cool place but not my favorite

Yelp
Happened to be nearby at McCarren Park and wanted to go for dinner. I saw the restaurant recently opened up in the neighborhood and was super intrigued - can't say no to Peruvian Chinese "chifa cuisine". The name Johnny's is unassuming but the food delivers. We got the half chicken combo and Lomo Saltado between three adults. Bonus that the restaurant offers highchairs for the littlest ones. Lomo Saltado was seasoned just the right amount. Not over the top and the sauce with the fries was delicious. The beef was tender and tomatoes were sweet and juicy. As for the chicken, they got it right - not dry but off the bone tender, even the chicken breast. We got the fried rice as recommended by the staff and no complaints. The space is new and provides a casual high end diner vibe if that makes any sense. I'd come back to try the other dishes and cocktails but wouldn't hesitate to order the same things.

Yelp
Great new neighborhood spot! This building's ground floor was vacant/closed for a while (I think a few years?), so I'm happy to see it filled with a spot I would return to. Most importantly, the food: 1. Rotisserie Chicken: Read another review that said it was excellent, and it did not disappoint! Super flavorful, great seasoning and moist. Would order again. 2. Wok-charred greens: These were listed as seasonal, and feeling adventurous we just ordered without asking. I think it was savoy cabbage - perfectly cooked and delicious as well - had the seared flavor from the wok without burn marks. 3. Veggie Lo Mein: Tasty. Slightly more liquid than I'd prefer, but would order again. Service was quick and friendly. There are a few other things I wanted to try on the next outing. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Easy 5 stars! I had the opportunity to go to tonight and I know I'll be a repeat customer. First off, we walked in without a reservation and were seated immediately. The staff were so nice and helpful. They really guided us in ordering enough food without ordering way too much. And, the food....my word. The flavors on the chicken and ribs... the unique and wonderful salad... everything was amazing! The restaurant itself is cute. I love that you can see into the kitchen! This is most certainly the best new restaurant in Williamsburg.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place and it's such a great new addition to the neighborhood. The food was delicious and the drinks were amazing.

Yelp
This new fairly small restaurant is what it portrays itself to be. It is plainly decorated and tables are well spaced. The service is friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The menu is unique as it serves Chinese/Peruvian food. The Lomo Saldo is tender beef in a nice sauce with both rice and fries, yes two starches, but it works. It also has onions and tomatoes. It also come with a nice small side salad. The rotisserie chicken is nicely spiced and comes a 1/4, 1/2 or whole chicken. My wife chose fried rice. They serve one dessert, a chocolate chip cookie in a small cast-iron pan that is warm and not too sweet with sesame sauce and ice cream on top. Everything is delicious and priced well. It wants to be a place where families can dine regularly as evidenced by the many families eating there.

Yelp
SO GOOD! The Caesar was light, fresh, and a perfect way to start. The chicken and ribs with green sauce were fantastic. The service was excellent, as well. So glad to have this in the neighborhood and can't wait to come back to try more!

Yelp
Such a great new spot! Perfect vibe whether you're out with friends, on a date, or just grabbing a solo bite. We tried a bunch of dishes and honestly everything was on point. The jalea (fried calamari, fish & shrimp) was crispy, well-seasoned, and not greasy at all. Loved the variety of seafood and the dipping sauce it came with. The lomo saltado was probably my favorite--super tender beef and packed with flavor. The rotisserie chicken was juicy and went really well with their green sauce (just the right amount of heat). The ribs were juicy and well-seasoned too. And the yuca frita--definitely a must if you want something different from regular fries! The space has a cool energy. It can get a little loud when it's crowded, but that just adds to the vibe. Also loved being able to peek into the kitchen through the window. Flavor, atmosphere, and service were all on point - Already looking forward to coming back and trying more from the menu!

Yelp
The kitchen here delivered dishes worth remembering. I'd almost forgotten what quality service feels like. The meal sizes leave you content. This establishment maintains good looks and cleanliness. If future travels bring me here, I'm coming back.

Yelp
Some of the best chargrilled chicken I've even had. It was juicy and delicious and comes with an amazing cilantro spicy sauce. Def check it out!

Yelp
Johnny's is an Asian Peruvian restaurant that also has a bar. Their menu consists of classic Peruvian favorites such as rotisserie chicken and spare ribs, served with their house aji verde as well as some asian inspired dishes such as their stir fried beef and tomatoes. Everything came out popping hot and fresh with fast and courteous service. Their bar offers Asian style cocktails and the restaurant in general has a great date night vibe.

Yelp
Such good food- i recommend going with a group so you can get a bunch of stuff and try everything! Friendly staff, good cocktails as well, will be back for sure

Yelp
Had dinner with a friend here, and the food was outstanding. The croquetas were a delicious way to start. I also had the stir fried beef which had a really yummy but subtle sauce. And I'm still thinking about the chocolate chip cookie skillet. Found out it's a family-owned place, and you definitely get that sense from the welcoming service. The place was packed for a Tuesday, so people are clearly catching on.
