18 Non-Boring Lunch Destinations in Charleston

"Tapas spot Estadio opens for lunch on Fridays and Saturdays. The food mirrors the dinner menu but with new presentations — for example, the brick chicken dish with local vegetables is transformed into a chicken sandwich during the day. The pintxos and montaditos (Spanish open-faced sandwiches) make for a quick lunch, but there are cocktails and wines available if you want to make it a leisurely lunch." - Erin Perkins

This is an older stadium and it definitely needs some TLC. The restrooms are not good. The stall door wouldn't lock and the floors were wet, and it wasn't water. I am confused as to why we bothered buying a ticket though. Nobody even checked to see if we had a ticket to the game. I thought that was kinda odd. However, the game was really fun. It was very easy to hear the commentator during the game. They fired a cannon at the beginning of the game, the end of every quarter, and when the home team scored. We got to see a small parade of the Citadel's cadets walking to the stadium. We got to see a changing of the guard for their live Bulldog Mascot, which was super awesome and adorable. The home team lost, but it was still a fun game to watch. Our seats were amazing! We were right on the 50 yard line! There were plenty of food & drinks vendors, but the lines were really long the entire time regardless. We will definitely be back and I definitely recommend going to a game when you get a chance. Support your local team!

Always a good time at Johnson Hagood. Stadium is nice, only thing lacking is enough concession stands so it doesn't take a full quarter of a game to get snacks.

Bathrooms need some work, definitely a stadium that's getting older. Small and cute though and the acoustics in certain area are awesome. Bring bug spray during the warmer months and if it rains good luck it floods here. Other then that awesome view of the water from the upper floors.

My grandson graduated from the Citadel, and his father, who works in the building, rented this area for a party. The room was perfect for the number of guests to gather and enjoy one another's company. The room faces the football field.

Everyone is commenting how nice this stadium is. The home side is beautiful, very nice. There is a castle in the end zone. They care about the home side. The visitors side- a stand of aluminum bleachers within chain link. Something you’d expect on the visitors side of small public high school. The visitors toilet was a trailer behind the aluminum bleachers. Unless you wanted to travel to the other side. Apparently it’s been like that for a few years. Visitors concession ran out of bottled water in the third quarter. Nearby catered alumni tents had tons of bottled water, but unavailable to visitors. They announced at half time, alumni classes raised $10 mil. The ticket booth advised they sold out of general admission tickets. I had to buy standing room tickets, which were more expensive than general admission. There was ample seating available and that’s where I sat. Lots of construction going on across the campus. They care a lot for their own, but could care less about the guest experience.

Yelp
Was at this venue for a fraternity gathering. It provided ample area for our guests to mingle, dance and enjoy food. The decorations provided by the Citadel show accomplishments and provided enough ambient lighting to make the mood! The view from the outside made me think this is the place to be for all home games.

Yelp
Ok! So today was the Charleston Brunch Festival. It wasn't as many vendors as I anticipated, but it was still a good turnout. I thought it was going to rain us out, but God held off the rain, and the weather only got better throughout the day! There were a number of small businesses businesses from candles to wax melts, to boutiques, to sweet treats. There was even a live band! There was a little bit of everything out there. As soon as you walk in, there's a table with mimosas and a reusable cup that you can use with the many drink selections they had. The food selections were great. We tried the waffle on a stick and Sweetgrass Food... I had their Mac and Cheese bites and they instantly put a smile on my face! It's like nothing I've ever tasted; it was seasoned just right, and I actually went back for seconds! If you have never been to a Charleston festiva, please look up their next event and go! You will not regret it.

Yelp
I've been to three Citadel football games now and sat in different sections every time...there really is not a bad seat in the house. Last season, they did not have card readers for concessions so everything was cash....not this year! I came with cash in hand but was happy to see they now take cards...watch out though because they are just using a calculator to add up your order and they overcharged me (accident, of course, but still...be aware!). Some of the seats have backings but they are metal so if you don't want a sore bum, bring a stadium seat cushion! Great atmosphere with all the cadets around. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Johnson Hagood Memorial Stadium in Charleston is a quality stadium and event venue. The stadium does it's job well and I have enjoyed every event I have attended here. I like the feel and atmosphere of the stadium as it has a lot of history and character to it. There is also plenty of parking available nearby and it easy to get in and out of for an event.

Yelp
Some athletic facility ooze with pride and often a stale stench of beer. Then there are others that are majestic in vision, beauty and cleanliness and worthy of the name of the institution they support. The latter rings true for Johnson Hagood Stadium, the home of The Citadel Football Team. Surrounded by memorials and dedication plaques to the many humans and animals that have dedicated their lives to supporting Citadel pride, this stadium pays homage to the culture of leadership, passion, heart and hope. With the architectural design of a military institution, onsite tennis courts, interior conference space and room for thousands of fans, this is a great and historic stadium to spend time in.

Yelp
First let me start by saying as a Citadel guy I am very bias. However, I really enjoy watching football here. I can hardly wait to see what the future stadium is like. Have also been here for some other private events and all have been quite nice.
