Jòia par Hélène Darroze

"Hélène Darroze's restaurant draws on her memories of her native southwestern corner of France, with nods to the Basque Country, Landes and Béarn. Strong flavours and emblematic dishes (chipirones from Saint-Jean de Luz fried with chorizo, Carnaroli rice with squid ink, parsley and parmesan emulsion), to be enjoyed alone or to share, and desserts that awaken your sweet tooth (chocolate chou with Espelette chilli, peanut praline)." - Michelin Inspector

8 of the Best New Restaurants in Paris in 2018 - AFAR

"Michelin-starred chef Hélène Darroze’s two-story spot in the 2nd arrondissement offers relaxed, homey cooking inspired by southwest France and global favorites, with shareable plates like deconstructed guacamole, seasonal mushrooms with foie gras and egg yolk confit, roasted Landes chicken, and beef short rib. An English-style salon on the upper floor opens daily at 5 p.m., and the wine list notably highlights women vintners from around the world." - Lindsey Tramuta

If you've read bad reviews of this place and wondered whether to go, I realty recommend you put them aside and go, just like we did. It was a lovely evening, the staff were very friendly and made every effort to make us feel welcome. They tried their best to translate where needed too. The food was great and for a restaurant of this calibre very good value too. You wouldn't find food like this for these prices in London! My razor clams were sweet and delicious and the slow cooked veal was just delicious. Make sure your leave room for dessert though, my chocolate cup was fabulously decadent and my wife's meringue (pictured) looked really nice too. We're certainly glad we gave it a go. I would definitely go again.

Outdated design, it wasn’t a cozy. In the second floor was reserved so the kitchen was pretty busy and waiting time of our order was longer than expected. We ordered the beef with potatoes and sauce and it was delicious 😋 but wanted more salad and in the menu this dish for two people but it wasn’t enough. Staff was hard to catch to make order and pay at the end but the meat was good and I’m upset that i didn’t try any dessert because now I have read many good reviews

Desserts were excellent. The rest was ok and probably a bit too expensive for what it is…. The place, atmosphere is really nice. Service is ok

Joia delivers an experience worthy of the finest Michelin-starred tables. From the attentive service to the elegant setting, every detail is meticulously executed. The corn amuse-bouche sets a refined tone, followed by perfectly cooked chicken rich in flavor and finesse. The zero-waste meringue is a brilliant, sustainable finale. A masterclass in balance, technique, and taste.

It’s my second time there and I have never been disappointed. The food is absolutely delicious, especially the desserts. Portions are quite generous, the flavours are immaculate. The cocktail drinks are also very nice! I absolutely love their margaritas. The service is impeccable. The waiters are very nice, polite, warm and welcoming. They are very professional and customer oriented! The whole vibe and atmosphere of the restaurant is perfect. It was nice, warm and welcoming. I absolutely love and recommend this restaurant! Will definitely comeback again!

Very good appetizers, especially the œuf parfait with an emulsion of yellow wine and the scallop carpaccio bottarga and peppered foie gras slice. The yellow chicken main with foie gras laced in was very good too. We had an excellent white wine to go with it but in the end do not give a five as the price performance did not make the cut. It was not the standout experience we hoped but very good nonetheless. The desserts were excellent.

Pretty ambiance and good food. The food was not bad or anything, but it definitely didn’t meet my expectations. Everything seemed very casual - which I understand - but it just seemed like dishes that you can try somewhere else for a better price. The treatment by everyone was nice, and despite my review, I must acknowledge that the dessert was AH MA ZING. At the end they give you a madeleine as well so to be honest, if I ever repeat, it’d be for the dessert.

We came for dinner on a Saturday night. We loved the atmosphere and service - attentive without ever getting obsequious or stuffy. The food was nice but maybe not quite as interesting or memorable as we would have liked - unfortunately they had run out of the octopus which is the dish we all wanted!
