"Founded in 2011, JoJu extends the frontiers of the classic banh mi sandwich, constructing some newfangled ones out of things like Korean bulgogi and Japanese pork belly, while retaining the usual Vietnamese varieties. All may be customized with a fried egg, and made especially spicy by the addition of both green and red hot sauces. An unusual offering is banh mi fries heaped with pickled vegetables, herbs, and sauces. There’s a Manhattan location, too." - Robert Sietsema, Bao Ong

A coworker put me on to Joju 4 years ago and to this day, they are still one of my favorite local spots. Their service is always quick and on point, they don't mess up orders and are respectful of special requests. The flavors are amazing and they thankfully put a good amount of meat in their sandwiches and bowls (my pet peeve is restaurants slacking on their meat portion while inflating prices). My favorite is the Lemongrass Chicken Bowl, and Lemon Thai tea. Chicken is super juicy!! Thank you JoJu!! Please don’t ever change

Not bad but I also wouldn’t say it was amazing. When I came in, they were doing iron work with very loud noise and a lot of construction. I understand not closing in fear of loss of money for the day but that was just crazy. The food was a bit pricy as I didn’t find it to be out of this world. The kimchi fries were good but over had better at KuKu. The coffee milkshake was also just okay. The stars of my meal were the spicy chicken bah mi and the boba in the coffee milkshake. The boba was defiantly made well and had great texture. I would recommend this place for just a sandwich and a boba drink. A decent place overall but I would only be back out of convenience and not need.

Order at the counter top for some fast casual and delicious Vietnamese classics. The fries were out of this world!! They were super crunchy and the toppings provided another level of umpft. Definitely would recommend and come back again. Bathroom inside!

We weren’t even hungry when we stopped in on a Saturday at around 2:30 pm. We just happened to be in the area and I’ve been wanting to try this for a while, so we decided to pop in. There were a lot of people ordering food for takeout the whole time we were there, even at such a weird meal hour. That’s gotta be saying something. Orders take about 15 minutes so I’d recommend ordering ahead if you can. If we hadn’t eaten lunch two hours ago, my husband and I would have ordered a lot more. Instead, we shared the Joju fries (JoJu’s banh mi inspired fries, topped with spicy mayo, spicy green sauce, pickled daikon & carrots, and fresh cilantro) and the JoJu banh mi (classic Vietnamese ham, headcheese, pâté spread & BBQ Pork). The fries themselves were amazing. It’s coated in batter (?) and double fried, which is the type of fries I like because the batter makes it extra crispy and flavorful. However, all the toppings on top of eating a banh mi was a bit too much. If I was just eating the fries, I would probably add meat + a runny egg. But eating it with a banh mi, I would have preferred the fries plain (with a side of their spicy green sauce, which is crack. Also appreciate that they don’t charge extra for dipping sauces). The banh mi could be one of the better banh mis I’ve had in my life. It’s stuffed with ingredients and I don’t just mean they’ve filled it with veggies. They are super generous with the meat. The bread is also toasted perfectly. For drinks, I had the Vietnamese iced coffee, which was perfect. Not too sweet and not too bitter. It was the perfect pick me up. Husband had the taro milkshake with tapioca, which was too sweet for me but he liked it. I’m not sure when I’ll be back since this location is far from me but I’m looking forward to trying their more conveniently located Midtown location. There are still so many menu items I need to eat/drink!

Come for the banh mi, stay for the kimchi or banh mi fries. Just FYI: the fries are in a meal itself. Well, I just finished the kimchi fries with the egg added, and I’m stuffed. The lemongrass chicken banh mi is my favorite. The veggies are crunchy and nicely pickled, which is important to me. Since this is a modern Vietnamese banh mi place, prices are higher... but you get what you pay for. Portions are definitely generous. I also recommend signing up for their loyalty program. There’s metered street parking… and residential parking which may be difficult to find depending on the day you go. There’s a handicap accessible bathroom, but narrow hallway to get there.

I have been coming here for few years now and they never disappoint me! First of all the food is always delicious and always consistent! (Best french friesI I have ever had) Second of all cannot stress about their customer service! Always smiling, quick and today even though my reward card was expired I still got my free sandwich. Next time I will try their bowl. Update 8.13.2021 0 stars for not updating google! You can not dine in! I walked here half an hour just to see a sign “take out only” !!! grrrr

I’ve been here over a dozen times with friends and family. There are always tables available when I come and they are usually very clean. My favorite menu items are Beef Bulgogi banh mi, lemon grass chicken bowl, beef bulgogi bowl, and Joju fries. The food never disappoints. They also provide extra sauce on the side if you ask for it. If you dine there, there’s no tip required because the workers don’t bring the food to you. When they call your number, you go up to them and get your food tray and then sit down.

The smell when you walk in teleports you into another world. Being brought by a friend, I didn't expect much from a sandwhich shop, but don't let the simplicity fool you. The menu was simple in a good way. Easy to read and self guiding, I was able to grasp an understanding of the many different bahn mi variations. As it was my first time, I ordered the original bahn mi, and when I took my first bite, I was blown away. The crisp and vinegry radish/carrot topping combined with the meat and headcheese was hugged in a perfectly baked baguette. The roll was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. All the ingredients merged together into a harmony of textures and flavors. Nothing was overpowering as it seemed like the sandwhich was tested to perfection. Small pieces of jalapenos kept me on the edge of my seat as I finished my bahn mi very quickly. Between my friend and I, we shared the bahn mi fries. The light radish/carrot toppings that are featured on the bahn mi was generously added on top of the crisp fries. The saltiness of the fries were counterbalanced by the vinegry "salad" and the creamy siracha mayo took the fries to the next level. Combining all the flavors, these fries were like nothing I had before. A perfect combination similar to the original bahn mi, but with a slight spicy twist. Both items I tasted were top quality. After that day, I spent the next few weeks trying the many other takes on the bahn mi. If you're looking for a sweet bahn mi with a strong flavor, i recommend the bulgogi bahn mi. Maybe a flavor that your more used to? I personally like the lemon grass chicken bahn mi. The chicken flavor we all know and love combined with the many toppings that come with the sandwhich. For the best experience, i recommend adding the green bomb sauce. I find it to give the bahn mi a little kick that makes you wanting another bite. However, the extra jalapenos they add along with the green bomb sauce caused some issues with some of my friends. But, if you're a spice head, green bomb is the way to go on all the bahn mis. My personal recommendation: The Hot Chick Bahn Mi.

Yelp
Craving some banh mi, we dropped by Joju for some take out banh mi. We ordered ahead of time which made pick up a breeze. Our group loved the fact that they had a vegan option on their menu which was really good. The caramel pork banh mi was delicious. Their fries were super fresh and crispy. I'll be definitely back to try some of the other options, but a great modern banh mi shop!

Brandon D.

Yelp
JoJu was pretty good and I'll be going back again. I had the beef brisket banh mi and it turned out exactly as it was described. The brisket had a bite to it that was satisfying. The orange vegetable type ingredient was packed to the brim (actually it was falling out, a plus for me) and refreshing. It complemented the beef completely. The cucumbers and added greens really rounded out the meal for me. It all felt like a package deal. It's nice to walk away from lunch feeling refreshed. I also had the spring rolls, which were fried. That surprised me, but didn't disappoint me. Definitely would stop in for an order of those alone, that's how good they were. They kind of stole the show for a bit. Service was good, cordial, and fast. Anyway, very good place. Will go back.

Yelp
I've been to the JoJu at Tangram before, but somehow, I've never made it to their Elmhurst spot - despite the fact that I live closer to this location! How did I miss this gem after all these years? This Elmhurst location is their main one (I think?), and it has more options, which is always a win. I tried the Monster JoJu and their loaded kimchi fries with a runny egg. * Monster JoJu ($9.49) This banh mi lived up to its name - it was huge! My sisters devoured it and gave it a solid 4.5 stars for its juicy goodness. I didn't get a bite, but I'll take their word for it. * Loaded Kimchi Fries with Runny Egg ($6.98) Now, I had high hopes for these fries, but sadly, the egg wasn't runny at all. It just sat there, very much... not running. But, despite that minor letdown, the fries were still delicious. The portions were generous - way more than what I've gotten at the Tangram location - so that definitely made up for it. I'll give these fries a 4/5. Service here was quick and efficient. While there wasn't anyone dining in, there were people coming in for takeout, which kept the place bustling. Overall, I'd give this spot a 4/5, and I'm sure I'll be back.

Yelp
Service wasn't super quick during my visit unfortunately, but it should've been quick if it wasn't for the lady in line in front of me. Ordered the Joju Monster. The banh mi itself was good! I was surprised to see how loaded it was with meat and veggies. It was a little too much shredded carrots for me, but I liked how thinly shredded they were. The bread felt a little more dense than what I prefer - not as fluffy, but it probably held the ingredients in better. Ordered the fried egg runny, and boy, was it runny. The whites were nice and soft and my fiance and I enjoyed the banh mi overall.

Yelp
Growing up in the area, I've always loved coming to Joju! During this visit, I got the Strawberry Lychee Green Tea Infusion and the Joju Fries. I came in on a Monday afternoon, so the restaurant was pretty empty, but I was pleasantly surprised to see how many people were coming in and out to pick up orders. The service was also incredibly fast and attentive. One of the servers noticed she gave me the wrong straw so she came over and kindly gave me the right one. The Strawberry Lychee Green Tea Infusion was incredibly refreshing and not overly sweet. It was perfect for beating the sweltering summer heat. The fries are always perfectly crispy yet soft inside. Over the years, I've found that the banh mis aren't for me because of how sweet the carrots are, but with the Joju Fries, the savoriness of the spicy mayo and kick of the jalapeños make it so that the carrots add the perfect balance to the meal. The added runny egg just helps tie all the flavors together! Always a go-to and a top recommendation for anyone who comes into the area.

Yelp
My first brought me here back in 2018 when we were dating. Always loved this place. The bahn mi is always delicious. I always love the lemon grass chicken. They have an automated kiosk now which makes things quicker and easier. You can customize your order and have certain sauces on the side. The workers are friendly and always helpful. Food is made quick and to your order. Great place to grab a bite or just to sit and enjoy the kimchi fries. Nice quaint little spot in elmhurst. I wish there was a spot in Brooklyn. I would absolutely go crazy if there was.

Jane A.

Yelp
Joju has always been one of my favorite places to go to for Banh Mi. I haven't been here in years, but my husband and I were in the area so we decided to go here for lunch. Coming back here brings back highschool memories of when my friends and I would run here after school. I'm so glad to see that they're doing well, and the food is still oh so good. It's a small restaurant, perf for a grab n' go, but it's also nice to pop on a seat inside. They also have a self order kiosk. We ordered the lemongrass chicken banh mi and kim chi fries. Super delicious sandwiches, yummy crunchy fries, the vegetables are fresh, and we opted for sauces on the side, if spicy isn't your thang. I also got a viet iced coffee which was so good and refreshing, and not too sweet. Can't wait to come back again. I'd commute all the way from Brooklyn to come here any day.

Jeffrey L.

Yelp
Used to go there very often in the past . They are one of the best viet sandwhich in the neighborhood if not the best . I love how they make their eggs so that's why I always add the egg in my sandwich . I still go there from time to time.

Krista M.

Yelp
I'm still a big fan of JoJu and try to get there every few months. Within the past year, they did a little updating making the seating more sleek and modern. They even have a rewards points system now. Just like everywhere, prices have increased, but the quality is still there. My favorites continue to be the Beef Bulgogi, BBQ Pork and the Hot Chick. Not to mention their delicious Vietnamese Coffee. Joju always hits the spot and never disappoints.

Tony L.

Yelp
I asked my Elmhurst local friend what his top recommendations for delicious eats in the area, and Joju was his first. That was a good sign, and I'm glad Joju lived up to its reputation. I didn't realise it was a chain until I entered the name into Google Maps and realised that there were a few other branches in Flushing and Chinatown -- another good sign. If it's an Asian franchise that can survive in busy Chinese populations, then it's probably stellar. I came on an unassuming Saturday evening about 15 minutes before closing, past dusk. They had already started cleaning and sweeping, but the staff were still friendly and the sandwich was still speedily made. Their bathroom in the back was also pretty clean after my long bike ride out. There were a lot of options that seemed good, and their advertised "Modern Vietnamese Banh Mi" was true to its name. At a fair price, I decided to go for the Bulgogi sandwich and had no regrets while I was waiting on the train platform for the long ride home. The bulgogi banh mi was a combination I never knew I needed, and I feel cheated that 32 years of my life were devoid of this treat. I love bulgogi so much, I would have it in anything (ex. I had to try the bulgogi burger in Seoul when I visited years back). What would you not like? Thin fatty slices of beef marinaded in that delicious sweet soy wedged between a toasted french bun with pickled veggies and cilantro to balance it out. A perfect marriage of two classics. I love it so much, I can't wait to have it again.

Sheryl C.

Yelp
Nice small shop! The food is great and nice portions and prices. There is a cashier but mainly self serve kiosk. The food comes out fast! I also tried the ginger lemonade mojito. Would recommend if you like ginger

Melissa C.

Yelp
Ever since Joju came out with their Joju bowls, I've been obsessed with them. If I could eat them everyday, I would be in foodie bliss. That's how much I love them. The crunchy monster spring rolls are so crunchy and yummy, we usually get a large order which comes with 4 spring rolls. My mouth waters even thinking about them, the spring rolls usually disappear first. The soy-garlic glaze chicken wings come 4 in a box and are best devoured still hot. However, I'm glad to say they are still crunchy even after they've cooled down. I love the delicious soy-garlic glaze on it, your tastebuds will crave it even after you've finished the wings. As for the classic sandwich, it definitely lives up to its name every time I eat it. From the runny egg to the shredded carrot to the pâté, my taste buds thank me while I enjoy the nostalgic memories brought back by this classic. It will always be one of my favorites. Last but not least, the beef bulgogi bowl is like comfort food to my soul. It reminds me of home cooked meals with my mom, of homemade dinner parties I was lucky enough to be invited to growing up, it brings me back home where homemade meals were everyday and you knew you were loved as you are. Every trip to Joju is like an emotional adventure! I can always count on Joju to maintain their quality and taste of every menu item. Cheers to Joju for being one of my fav go-to places for dinner take-out!

Fanny D.

Yelp
Ive been coming here for years now. Every time I'm in the area, I would always want Jojus. Their fries are really good, eat it fresh that's when it tastes the best! I've ordered almost every sandwich here and the bomb mi is an all time fav. Supposedly their spring rolls is really good, but I haven't ordered that yet. Their drinks are good too. You order at counter and pay. There are seats for you to eat at which is self serve. It's a great place to hang with friends!

Lisa C.

Yelp
Update: still a great spot for a quick meal. Try out the ginger seitan (made from gluten/wheat) bites for a yummy vegetarian option. Ordered take out today and for some reason I got apple sauce (apple sauce smell, taste, and goopy texture) instead of fish sauce, but I assume that was an honest mistake. I've gotten food from here multiple times and I've never had any issues before. Also the kimchi fries were super salty, but they are normally really good. I guess it was an off day.

Magdelyn G.

Yelp
A small place in the heart of Elmhurst. This place was highly recommended and they weren't wrong. The sandwiches are delicious. I had the number 20 loaded lemon grass chicken. It's probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. It's the size of a foot long sandwich. I had to eat it in 2 sittings. Restaurant is very small. You can sit down and eat but not with many people. The service was very fast. They probably made my sandwich in under 10 mins. I'll definitely come back again.

mandy w.

Yelp
Really really good choice for people tried of ordinary sandwiches, the signature Vietnamese sandwiches with beef is really good, the chicken one is so so but also taste nice. White peach soda is nice, coldbrew Thai tea is also good

Cece L.

Yelp
The reviews aren't kidding when they say this is a filling meal! I got the lemongrass chicken bowl with egg roll bites. Really solid! Flavorful tender chicken, and I especially loved the egg rolls. It came with a large serving of meat which was great!

Ming W.

Yelp
Joju is a fusion Vietnamese sandwich shop serving bahn mi, rice bowls, specialty fries and drinks. Counter service with quick turnaround time. We ordered a #1classic bahn mi & a #4 beef bulgogi bahn mi from the sandwich menu along with a kimchi fries. All came out nicely and delicious. If you're in the queens area and crave for bahn mi, Joju will fix you up.

Ralph T.

Yelp
I have been frequenting this place for years. In time past, Joju was basically the antecedent of the foodie scene in the area, they brought reason for people to visit Elmhurst. They're a fast casual restaurant in a cozy setting, and service here is passable. The beef bulgogi banh mi (4.5/5) was an absolute delight. The beef was packed with flavor from the marinade, and it paired perfectly with fresh herbs, pickled vegetables, and a hint of spicy mayo. The lemongrass chicken banh mi (4/5) had a tantalizing aroma from the lemongrass. It was decent, but I still recommend opting for a richer protein like pork or beef. The caramel pork banh mi (4.5/5) was very good, but it could become overly sweet and heavy when consuming the entire sandwich. The kimchi fries (3/5) were meager in portion and mediocre. I also had the opportunity to try their rice bowls, which were fantastic. They featured the same ingredients as the banh mi fillings, essentially creating a deconstructed banh mi served over rice. The Vietnamese iced coffee (5/5) was an absolute treat, with its strong coffee flavor and the delightful sweetness of condensed milk.

Steph W.

Yelp
Order at the counter top for some fast casual and delicious Vietnamese classics. The fries were out of this world!! They were super crunchy and the toppings provided another level of umpft. Definitely would recommend and come back again.

Amanda M.

Yelp
Delicious Vietnamese sandwiches with classic Banh mi and also non traditional ones. I got the Classic Banh mi and the Joju Banh mi. Both sandwiches were great but didn't blow me out of the water. Maybe I'll need to stop by and try out their non-traditional sandwiches. I liked how they gave unique sauces on the side which I haven't seen in other Banh mi spots. Overall I will definitely come back and try out their other sandwiches. I got there when they had just opened on a weekday and was able to order super easily on the kiosk. It's also located in the tangram food court which was nice and empty during the mid weekday. Chill and easy going vibe.

Jing K.

Yelp
Dropped by on a friend's recommendation to try their bulgogi banh mi which was excellent. Beef was cooked perfectly with sweet caramelized onions topped with s nice heap of pickled shredded carrots and daikon that cut through the sandwich. The bread was nicely toasted on top and soaked in the juices of the meat on the inside. Their banh mi fries were crispy but the strange sweet dipping sauce felt out of place. The service was a little on the slow side possibly due to the amount of orders but definitely worth coming back to again

Tim K.

Yelp
Started perusing some places for a mid afternoon lunch/dinner and came across JoJu and started reading the reviews. 1800+ reviews, 4.5 stars for Vietnamese food = no brainer. So many excellent choice is to choose from, couldn't quite decide which sandwich to try so I went with the Vietnamese Caramel Pork Sandwich. Winner, winner, pork dinner... (lunch). It's hard to describe the unique and delicious flavors emanating out of this sandwich. There was the savory pork side of it combined with the tangy slaw side of it making each bite equally intriguing. This has got to be one of their popular sandwiches. The tall, toasty warm brioche bread is the perfect placeholder for this fantastic sandwich.

Samah I.

Yelp
The Joju Banh mi fries are fire. House sauce is made with pork so if you're vegetarian or a halal eater, make sure to ask for it sans that. Kimchi fries also good but Joju fries are the BEST of the best. They are both generally very similar because they both have green onions but otherwise the bánh mì ones have green sauce lol. The happy hour deal is great. The mini fries are maybe half the size of a full order of regular fries so definitely a good deal. Staff are really nice and there's maybe four tables with one table against the storefront glass with about three or four seats.

Nimrod G.

Yelp
JoJu has my highest recommendation for Vietnamese cuisine in the area. This review is based off one visit with my parents and me. As a frequenter of Elmhurst, I never really turned to yelp or google for recommendations around the area, as I usually go to places through word of mouth. This time, however, I tried JoJu, and I'm so incredibly glad I did. JoJu is a small banh mi lunch spot. It's a great place to pick up food or have a quick lunch with a small party. I would not recommend dining in with a party larger than 6 people. Anyway, I love the green look mixed with all the colorful chalk art. JoJu takes a modern twist to banh mi and Vietnamese food. I ordered the beef bulgogi banh mi and it was just incredible. The mildly spicy, very savory and flavorful beef bulgogi pairs so well with the cool and refreshing mix of cilantro, cucumber, and pickled carrots. I would highly recommend ordering the beef bulgogi banh mi. I also ordered the Vietnamese iced coffee and it was a perfect drink to pair with the sandwich. The iced coffee was sweet, while not being too bitter or creamy. It was also strong. My parents ordered the mango lychee mojito and that was amazing as well. The mango alongside the refreshing mint and mojito flavor created a refreshing and light beverage. The service was also very fast and were very nice. I'm going here every time I'm in the area, and you should too.

Helen H.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place after hearing so many great things but honestly felt a bit disappointed. Ordered the joju bahn mi, joju fries, and passion fruit rose mojito. The bread was soft but broke apart easily, not toasted and dry. The fillings were amazing though! Love the shredded pickled carrots both in the bahn mi and fries. The fries were the star of this meal, such a big portion and the toppings all paired perfectly with the crispy fries. As for the drink, it was decent but didn't have much rose flavor. Overall, an ok meal but don't understand the hype. Tempted to come back and give it another shot!

Ava W.

Yelp
I've been going to Joju's for years! Their banh mi's are to die for... but they need to change their hours on Google since this location doesn't seem to follow them anymore. The closing hour is 8PM according to Goggle. This is now the third time I've gone at around 7PM and the gates are down. This has turned into a hassle now and has made me not want to choose this location for it's unpredictability. Maybe there can be some updates or discrepancies listed online for the future?

Nancy A.

Yelp
All the banh mi sandwiches are at an affordable price! Every time I come here, it is always super crowded with long lines so you know the food is good. I tried the lemongrass chicken and the bulgogi and they were very good although the bulgogi was kind of fatty. These are very filling sandwiches and larger in size than other banh mi places I've been to. I also tried the banh mi and kimchi fries and they were delicious. Sauces and seasoning were the right amount. The bubble teas were kind of sweet though.

Natasha G.

Yelp
I can't believe I've never reviewed JoJu even though it's one of my favorite places in the area and I've been coming here for years! Whatever associations you might have with the phrase "Asian fusion," you can set aside before you come here. I think the owners are Korean and Vietnamese, and this is essentially reflected in the awesome flavor combos you'll find in JoJu's offerings. You can't go wrong with most orders here, except if you order plain fries instead of the out of this world JoJu fries (or kimchi fries). The JoJu fries are kind of like disco fries made Asian and topped with their house pickles and spicy mayo, and if JoJu were open late, this is exactly what you'd want to be eating at the end of a long night out--conversely, they're also perfect for the morning after a long night out. The banh mi and bowls here are a great value and really well balanced in flavor and composition. If you're looking for a really classic traditional banh mi, you'll probably find JoJu's a little ~extra~, but I like the unique offerings that they have here that really level up the flavor. I'd highly recommend paying 50¢ to put on some extra pate spread, and if you're feeling really indulgent, getting a runny fried egg on top. The banh mi come with a generous helping of pickled carrots and daikon, along with cucumber and cilantro (and if you don't like those things, then honestly you probably don't like banh mi and this isn't the sandwich for you), and a selection of hot sauces (I like the green bomb, which is kind of like an aji verde). The specialty sandwiches are, to me, the stars of the menu, like the JoJu, which is a traditional pork-based banh mi that also has their special BBQ pork. Though Elmhurst is rich with bubble tea shops, I do like the specialty beverages here a lot, like the fruity slushes and the refreshing mojitos (non-alcoholic, but adding your own rum is a pro tip I'm highly recommending here). Seating inside is limited these days and it's usually pretty busy, but service is always fast and friendly. My ONE qualm is that they don't offer summer rolls at the Elmhurst location and that's something I've been wanting them to do for YEARS! JoJu is, to me, a staple of the neighborhood, and it's a great lunch choice if you want something filling and savory and delicious.

Kevin C.

Yelp
I've been going here for years. It never disappoints. Quality, flavor, value, and freshness is always on point. Whether you go for the sandwiches or the bowls they have something for everyone. Even there drinks are great. Always pick up a iced vietnamese coffee, a banh mi sandwich or the pork bbq bowl and add a egg. Delish. Top it off with a side of their loaded fries and you'll be set. Always a great neighborhood spot i'll be back to.

Sharmila T.

Yelp
It was sooo good like the kimchi fries and the sandwiches are delicious I neeed them again like it etched in my memory

JT T.

Yelp
Really came into the area to check out the Tangram mall and while the mall itself is meh, Joju is a great place for a "modern" twist on banh mis! Ordered the (Joju) which has cha lua (classic Vietnamese ham), headcheese, pâté spread & BBQ Pork and also has the traditional pickled veggies you'd expect in a banh mi. From what I've heard, they have multiple locations and worth a try if you want a good twist on the Vietnamese sandwich.

Nithin G.

Yelp
Loved - Lemongrass chicken banh mi - Kakuni pork belly banh mi - Vegetable toppings (would probably get extra vegetables next time) - Taro milk tea - Huge portions Wish the vegetables could be stacked on top of the meat instead of beside the meat but that may just be the nature of stuffing a baguette

Emizz Z.

Yelp
Good banh mi and fusion sandwiches. The quality of the products are fresh and flavorful. Probably a personal preference but since they used a very thick baguette, wish they spread the fillings more evenly so the bites are easier and cleaner to eat if you have tiny mouths/children Must have - Joju fries - this was recommended by many reviewers for a reason

John J.

Yelp
Been driving by this place for years and never thought of going in. Came with a friend one day and was pretty much a hole in the wall. Got a Thai ice tea, wings and a Banh Mi Sandwich. The Thai ice was pretty good. Not super sweet and had good flavor. The wings were very good, nice and juicy and flavorful. My wife liked the sandwich a lot. It was full of flavor and also this was something I brought home for her. It wasn't soggy and the bread was nice and fresh. Will need to come back for sure and try a lot of their other items.

Yelp
I'm a regular here and keep coming back. The slogan is exactly what they are - modern banh mi and very affordable. Also, do NOT sleep on the rest of the menu - monster rolls, joju chillers/mojitos, kimchi fries are all also crave-worthy. LEMONGRASS CHICKEN BANH MI -My go to, always tender chicken with very very mild heat. Their sandwiches are always stuffed well w/ meat and veggies. I've had their pork and bulgolgi sandwiches and they're nice and flavorful; sometimes with banh mi you can't taste the meat but not the case here. I go for chicken most often because it happens to be my favorite meat. Also if you want it to be more filling highly recommend adding a fried egg to the sandwiches. MONSTER ROLLS - giant lumpia, essentially. Stuffed with pork and such a satisfying crunch. You can't really mess it up. I could eat 20 of these. KIMCHI/JOJU FRIES - Still hungry? Get these stacked fries with generous toppings. The joju fries are a bit carrot/radish forward so I prefer the kimchi fries which have a nice spicy mayo and mild heat to them. The fries are crisped nicely and tender. Make sure to eat sooner than later as the kimchi fries can get soggy. DRINKS Joju Chillers Mojitos Viet Iced Coffee - hits the spot and exactly what you want it to be - Nonalcoholic drinks that you can add boba too; I love getting drinks here because they're unique and not found in typical boba shops. The mojitos esepecially, with fresh mint, club soda and flavors of your choice as well as the chillers, which are half iced tea and half slush really provide a refreshing accompaniment to your meal, esp when it's hot out.

Yelp
I'm pretty much a regular here. Loved Jojus since they've opened and it's my forever go to place for viet sandwiches. I always get the lemongrass chicken banh mi, loaded joju banh mi fries, and an iced Vietnamese coffee. They used to have this drink called Chrysanthemum pu erh and I absolutely LOVED IT but unfortunately, it is no longer in the menu :'( (Please bring it back!!!) The chicken in the lemongrass chicken banh mi is so tender and juicy that I struggle to not inhale it in one bite. It does get a little overwhelming with the thinly sliced carrots and radish cause there's a good amount in the sandwich. The bread itself is also perfectly crunchy and toasted. Fries are great when they are fresh and not when you get take out because it can get a little soggy from the time you pick it up to the time you get home. Still, the taste is mouthwatering delicious. I have noticed that over the years, the toppings of the carrots, radish, cilantro, and the sauce have been a little too much in proportion to the fries. I usually don't often get the runny egg on top but it's even more delicious with it! I have sat in and ate here before pandemic happened and it's a relatively small space. Tables and seats can be a little messy/oily with crumbs and remains from the previous people who sat there. I have been here during pandemic and there was a period of time when there was no indoor seating and only pick ups and staff all wore masks. Unsure if there is indoor seating now since there have been random peaks of covid variants again. Definitely will continue coming back and continue recommending to friends!

Yelp
Yummy Bahn mi, fresh and crunchy and flavors blend well together. Would definitely try another one next time

Yelp
Seeing their chalk walls with cheerful social prompts in 2023 is such a sign of first or second gen at work. I remember when Joju first opened here on Broadway- the Queens Broadway, the Elmhurst Broadway. They had a bright orange awning with thick black font and few highlights anchored by their banh mi sandwiches; no frills, food focused, authentic vibe. The current mint green awning is a more soothing greeting that balances the loud messaging inside. I had the vegetarian ham banh mi and a thai iced tea. Honestly I could eat a sandwich with the pickled carrots and cilantro and sauce alone. Here, those carried the filler veggie ham. I enjoyed the thai iced tea that had a customizable sweet level. Less sweet for the win. The sandwich doesn't make my top 3 vegetarian banh mi's but is ok. I'll try a bowl next time.

Yelp
Their sandwiches are always fully loaded! I love getting the banh mi fries and adding bulgogi on top! My go to Bahn Mi spot in Elmhurst!

Yelp
Craving a Vietnamese sandwich but also want some Korean bulgogi? Well look no further, because JoJu mixes the best of both Korean and Vietnamese cuisines. They are only open for either takeout or delivery, and have an assortment of apps, sandwiches, rice bowls and curated drinks to choose from. The food is consistently delicious and I haven't ordered anything off the menu that I didn't like. I would highly recommend trying their banh mi sandwiches! Some personal favorite items of mine are the: * Soy Garlic Glaze Chicken Wings - This app contained 2 wings, very similar to korean fried chicken, just supersized. It was crispy and the meat was very tender. * Beef Bulgogi Banh Mi - I loved the kimchi and bulgogi flavors in a banh mi sandwich. If the kimchi is sitting in the sandwich for too long, the baguette will get soggy, so something to keep in mind if you are saving it for the next day. * Kakuni Pork Belly Bowl - The pork belly was very tender and you can choose your base, toppings and sauce. You can even top it off with a fried egg. I will say that sometimes, there is too much fat, but it doesn't detract from the overall deliciousness of the dish. If you haven't tried JoJu, what are you waiting for?

Yelp
SO GOOD. Omg I love this place. I get the lemongrass chicken bahn mi, the best I've had. It's super quick service and so worth going out to Elmhurst if you aren't already in Queens. It's a small place but has indoor seating. Anyway back to the sandwich - every single aspect is perfect. Perfectly cooked chicken, the freshest tasting veggies, the sauce is incredible and the sandwich bread has the perfect crunch everytime. If you can't already tell, I HIGHLY recommend

Yelp
I have been wanting to try Joju for years! Luckily, we were in the area the other day, and my friends and I ordered Joju off Doordash. While I didn't get to eat mine until a day and a half later, the banh mi still tasted fresh, delicious, and not soggy. I ordered the #6 Kakuni Pork Belly banh mi. The pork belly was flavorful and quite tender, but I will say there was a good amount of fat. Next time, I'd love to top mine off with a fried egg.

Yelp
Small restaurant with a bit of seating. I'm assuming they do a lot of takeout because when I ordered my food they packed it up despite my wanting to eat there. The bulgogi sandwich was absolutely amazing! I completely recommend this. I got it without kimchi because I had my daughter and she doesn't like spicy. But it was wonderful. I'd love to try it wit the kimchi for that kick. The picked vegetables were so good! Don't live in the area so probably won't be back. But you never know. If you're in the area, come on in.

Yelp
Talk about shrinkflation. I just ordered the classic bahn mi ($9.50), the Joju Bahm mi ($11) and the Joju bahn mi fries. The bread was stale. Both bahn mis were missing the pork pate. The fries size is so small now compared to the past. Both the bahn mis and fries were smothered in the pickled daikon radish and carrots to make the order look larger than it really is. Not worth the quality and price.

Yelp
Wasn't super impressed with this place despite the strong reviews. BEWARE: the beef bulgolgi bowl and other bowls that have "cabbage salad" in it - it's NOT salad, but actually coleslaw and has a ton of Mayo in it. This was a very unpleasant surprise when I was expecting a proper salad with purple cabbage and instead got nasty coleslaw. Additionally the beef was extremely fatty. It has good flavor with the sauce but would be nice if it was more actual meat. The caramelized pork sandwich was ok, nothing to brag home about. Overall I've just had better bowls and sandwiches from this cuisine (it says it's Vietnamese but seems more Asian/fusion) so I personally wouldn't revisit it unless the meat was much MEATIER and not so fatty and they use ACTUAL salad and not a lower tier overly mayonaised coleslaw.

Yelp
The sandwich I got was tasty! The fried chicken was awesome too and not to forget the bubble tea with tapioca.

Yelp
Best Vietnamese sandwich place. I like their spicy green bomb recipe which works well with all types of sandwiches. Their JoJu bowls are also good but it's just a bowl version of the sandwich ingredients.
