Jok's Kitchen (Yaowarat)

"In the debate between quality and quantity, this Thai-Chinese spot hidden in a wet market sides with quality. Starting with a single table, it has since expanded to five. The skilled chef, whose family has sold crabs for over 80 years, sources quality ingredients to create an Omakase set menu which he cooks chef’s table-style. The shrimp wonton, deep-fried snow fish with soy sauce and stir-fried kale with salted halibut are recommended. Booking is mandatory." - Michelin Inspector

Best Chinese Restaurants in Thailand to Welcome the Year of the Pig

"Hidden inside a small wet market, this simple yet legendary shop has earned its reputation for Thai-Chinese cuisine, with quality seafood a speciality. The chef's set menu is based on daily available ingredients. Best dishes include the shrimp wonton, deep-fried snow fish with soy sauce and stir-fried kale with salted halibut - flavours show great intensity and complexity. Booking is compulsory." - Colin Ho

Breakfast till evening - Excellent shrimp dumplings and fish maw stew with variety of toppings. Dinner - Reservation is a must. Inform them when and how many people. Fixed set of dishes depending on number of people and what fresh seafood was available. Our set for 4 persons consisted of shrimp dumplings, fried cod, fried jumbo river prawns in spicy sauce; kailan with mushrooms and razor clams, steam crab deshelled; crab claws in ginger, onion sauce, grouper soup and dessert of fried taro coated with sugar and sesame and scallions. Except for fish soup, which was lackluster, the rest of the dishes were excellent. Just 2 tables in the dining room, and they only do 1 seating/meal for lunch or dinner. Price wise might be on the high side given the location. Service was friendly and attentive despite language barriers. The dining hall and washroom were clean and well maintained even though the restaurant was located in a grungier part of town.

Shrimp dumpling is very good. Big and delicious. 8 balls for 100 thb that is good price. But for fish maw soup with crab, 360 thb is quite expensive. The taste is ok

Tucked away in a small local alleyway is this Michelin recommended shrimp dumpling place. The shrimp dumplings were very sweet and we also got the fish more soup which was quite favourable. Highly recommend for the price.

Been coming here once a year and looks like they have gone from 10 dumplings to 8 in their serving. Still the best shrimp dumplings I've ever had though.

A hidden gem! Before arriving in Bangkok, I was keen to visit Chinatown but knew it wasn’t going to be easy to navigate to find the best places to eat, so we used a tour company called Chefs Table to show us around. They took us down a backstreet, where truthfully I was surprised there were any restaurants worth visiting, until we got to Jok One Table. They explained to us the history of Jok and his one table restaurant which was fascinating! We were given their famous 100 baht shrimp dumplings, which were delicious! So much so we went back a few days later with a friend to have some more! 100% recommend popping by for their dumplings, they’re delicious!

It’s pretty tough to get a spot at Jok One Table (originally, it was just one table), so book in advance if you want a whole meal of 10 dishes. We stopped to have their famous dumplings and they were perhaps the best we have ever eaten.

Definitely worth visiting this little stall for the shrimp dumplings. I can eat 2 bowls one shot. Fresh taste, smooth skin, light dressing. Will come back again and again.
