Jolene Jolene - Review - Kirkwood - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Jolene Jolene is Atlanta’s first bar completely dedicated to women’s sports. After months of hosting pop-ups around town, it finally has a semi-permanent home in Pullman Yards’s Brick and Mortar space with a three-month residency. The inside is small—a few tables and a giant projector. So WNBA fans in Howard jerseys often spill onto the large patio, where there are three giant TVs and another bar. For those high crowd Dream games, we stick to the quicker canned beers since nothing on the cocktail menu is wow-worthy enough to miss another Allisha Gray mid-range masterclass. The menu is a blend of bar bites (decent hot dogs) and pan-Asian dishes (just-fine chicken dumplings) that get the job done. So if you’re here to soak up all the energy and champion women’s sports with fellow fans, you are in the right place, of course. Just note that the crowds can get thick, which is just more proof that everyone watches women’s sports (even if they have to stream from their phone while at the bar). Food Rundown Grand Slam Dog This dog is decked out with squiggles of the holy trinity of ketchup, mustard, and mayo. A tiny trail of bacon bits gives it a burst of saltiness and a handful of green onion spheres provides a little pop of tang. It’s a reliable choice. photo credit: Juli Horsford Blooming Onion Move over Outback since this take on the blooming onion is better. The deep fried onion is sliced a little thinner with a lighter breading that makes eating it feel more like a light snack and less like coating your stomach in grease. photo credit: Juli Horsford Thai Chicken Dumplings You get four of these open-faced dumplings, filled to the brim with ground chicken. They come perched like little icebergs in a sea of soy sauce. They’re a little rubbery but otherwise an OK order. photo credit: Juli Horsford JJ Smash Burger A sesame seed bun bookends two decent-size patties that come absolutely dripping in melty american cheese. It’s not a bad burger, but clocking in at $15, we wish it came with fries. The thin-cut fries (get them, they’re good), will cost you an extra $5. photo credit: Juli Horsford" - Juli Horsford

We absolutely loved our experience at Jolene Jolene! The service was so welcoming and friendly, the food was delicious, and the cocktails were outstanding! Each drink we ordered exceeded expectations. The chicken wings, fries, mac and cheese bites, and bao buns were all served hot and scrumptious! We can’t wait to return!

I have been stoked to try Jolene Jolene since watching an interview with the owner online. We were greeted by a friendly blonde girl, who truly gave off "I love it here" vibes. We ordered at the counter ..because we were eating outside..? Weird quirk but fine. We ordered the veggie hotdog, a blooming onion and the Asian chicken wings (per the girls recommendation). For drinks, my boyfriend had the spicy margarita and I had the 9-5 espresso martini. For dessert.. two cookies. One chocolate chip and one sugar. The total after tip was $81. We first got our drinks...which I really wouldn't drink there again..they both tasted premade and watered down..just bad drinks. We truly went TO enjoy cocktails so I was disappointed and didn't want to take the chance on two different ones being better.. We received our blooming onion and truly loved it. I go to Outback JUST got a blooming and this one truly stood out. Very rosemary and sagey...very spicy sauce. The veggie dog was fantastic!! Very flavorful. Very filling. The wings were out of this world..but the only thing we wished we'd gotten with our meals were some fries or chips of sort to kinda break up the deep flavors from everything. But all around fantastic! Lastly we're the cookies...they were alright. The sugar cookie..was really bad..very crumply and a very doughey flavor.. the chocolate chip was a normal seasalt chocolate cookie. Normal. All around a great meal..great service..but the drinks definitely need work. Especially at a sports bar vibe! I'll try again in a couple months!

A much needed inclusion to the cluster of sports bars in Atlanta. I look forward to returning as the team at Jolene Jolene settles into their new environment.

Wish I could rate the food and drinks; however after waiting for 15-20 minutes and not be acknowledged by wait staff we left. I understand it was busy but not one waitress spoke to us or even offered water. I want to try them again soon. Hopefully my experience will be better and I can update my review.

Had heard great things about this place and it did not disappoint!!! Cool little spot with outdoor area. The staff was not only super friendly, the mixologist behind the bar are on point and amazing! Great speciality cocktails and classics made to perfection. The food is top notch! The bartender said everything there was great and after getting dumplings and tacos I tend to believe her! If you're tired of the same old sports bar and want something a bit different....and different meaning better...this is your new regular spot!

This is my second time coming, and truly this place needs work. It’s evident that they do not have the staffing or space for the type of events they’re trying to plan. On a highly anticipated game day, there was no host, not enough tables, not enough staff. There’s no signage indicating whether it’s seat yourself or order at the bar, leaving several large groups confusingly meandering by the door. Staff is obviously overwhelmed and cannot provide clear answers, often asking three different people the answer to your simple questions. Not enough menus for tables, no system to ensure your table isn’t missed by a server, etc. I wish I could rate higher but they need honest reviews because if you’re trying to watch a highly anticipated game this is NOT the place for you. Hopefully they improve in the coming months but they need a serious team meeting.

No better place to watch women’s sports. Great atmosphere, incredible staff, and amazing drinks and food. Kiami was our bartender and she was accommodating and knowledgeable and generally just had a nice presence. Will definitely be back here to watch my Atlanta Dream play.

I would like to start the review by saying I didn’t give full stars because there was a gap in expectations. The staff were great and they were super nice to my baby who wasn’t having it. We were excited to check this place out but it fell a bit short of expectations. The AC was broken and we didn’t find out until we were seated. It was bearable because we were the only ones in there. Ordered the bao buns , dumplings , sausage slider (single slider for $7) and the worst chicken fingers ever(bland, over cooked and $9!). The bar sent over drinks that we didn’t order and I just took them so they wouldn’t be thrown out. Got charged anyway but happy to support a local business. The idea behind it is awesome and I really hope this place does well. They just need to iron out a few details.

Yelp
The smash burger at Jolene Jolene was pretty solid, but the inside was uncomfortably warm. It got to the point where we couldn't really enjoy the meal and ended up leaving early although the service was outstanding. Would love to come back if the temperature issue is addressed, because the food shows promise.

Yelp
Rooting so hard for this new concept, and ready to support them in their quest for a permanent location... but want to give an honest review of their pop up in the Brick & Mortar space at Pullman Yards. The Jolene Jolene staff is wonderful, welcoming and friendly and doing their best to stay on top of a busy and bustling dining room and patio. Food was good - especially the wings, and they have a good menu with lots of bar food options and shareables. The location and building itself is what's less than stellar here; the parking is complicated and frustrating with the validation process (queue to park, pay first by QR code and get a refund with validation upon paying check later). The building is not well air conditioned, and with frequent open doors it gets really hot and humid inside really quickly. The screens aren't easy to see from the seating layout, and none have sound on. They have a decent drinks menu, but unfortunately no draft beers yet, and the canned options were not chilled (on the positive side, likely because they were so busy we saw them bringing in cases of canned beer to keep up with demand but it hadn't been chilled). Hopefully the concept will take off and they'll be able to find a permanent home soon to fix these early opening glitches.

Yelp
Great place to watch a game or just hang out. Service is fantastic, good vibes all around. Food - had the dog and Parmesan fries, both were A++ Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Like a basketball freshman phenom, I'm one and done with this place, unfortunately. While servers are very friendly, the food is grossly overpriced and underwhelming. I've never seen smaller tacos, and the shells were stale. The bao buns barely had any meat in them, and what was inside was dry and lacked flavor. One plus: the fries were good, but the bottled ranch served on the side was of very poor quality. The concept is solid, but they have a long way to go to become a destination where people are willing to spend their hard earned money. My friend had a whiskey and ginger ale . . . for $14.00. People might come for the sports concept and the fun words in the menu, but they will not return. In addition, parking is difficult and confusing. There is too much quality competition in this sports bar genre for Jolene Jolene to survive.

Yelp
I've been excited to try this new spot, not only because it's walkable to my house, but because of the awesome idea of a women's-only sports bar! When we first arrived, we were greeted by a friendly waitress letting us know we could sit wherever we chose. We were treated very well and she was attentive and thoughtful in guiding us through the menu. The menu items had fun names paying homage to famous female athletes. We ordered the bao buns, chicken tenders, fries, and the burger. I also got a gin drink that was the star of the show. The food was a bit disappointing for the price. However, if their goal is drunk bar food - they achieved it. I was excited for some fresh tenders, juicy burger, and stellar fries, but I couldn't help comparing it to a similar quality as Six Flags, complete with ranch from a bottle. I think this spot could be really great if they worked on the food. There are so many food / bar options in Atlanta and in order for this place to compete with nearby establishments with similar offerings, they may want to consider stepping it up in the food department. This is a spot I'd go to drink good drinks in a fun & quirky atmosphere, but not a spot I'd seek out for a meal.

Yelp
My friends and I went to experience the new all women's sports bar. we were extremely disappointed. we sat at a table and after 15 minutes of no service we moved tables. finally we got some service. there were plenty of servers just standing around. 3-5 of theTV's are small and difficult to see. They do have a big tent outside with two large TV's we were inside. After a drink we left because two of the TV's went off and we found out that only 1 person knows how to change the channel. We won't be back.
