The Best Restaurants in Coronado | Eater San Diego

"Chef Jason Witzl has brought his take on California and Italian cuisine to Crown City after honing his culinary skills in LA and the three-Michelin-starred Restaurante Martin Berasategui in Spain. Focusing on seasonal dishes, his menu includes plates like crudo, pork shoulder, and loup de mer, or Mediterranean sea bass. The chef also serves a tasting menu worth trying. Make sure to also check out the butchery and cheese shop on the premises." - Helen I. Hwang

Very nice place and I’m glad I came with one issue. Unlike others, service was speedy and attentive. Jake was fabulous and he knew everybody engaging in personal conversation about patrons last visit, weddings and other things. Even with that he was attentive to this first timer explaining dishes and making sure I was taken care of. The food was the bomb. I had oysters, scallops, crab toast and grilled prawns. All delicious. The oysters were meaty and juicy. The scallops were a bit small but had a fresh flavor and were meaty. The crab toast was amazing. I make it myself at home but this was the best I had. Idk what bread they use for the toast but it’s the perfect vessel and the decadent crab. It was very filling. Lastly the prawns were huge and delicious. I love love loved the couscous and yogurt that accompanied the char of the grilled shrimp. Perfect contrast of flavors. My only issue was the prawns was $34 in the menu but I was charged $42. I didn’t make a stink of it but someone else just might. For that reason I can’t give a five stars but a four stars. But I would go again. I likes the area close to the water and want to try other things on the menu

Coronado Island in San Diego is a wondrous community where you can feel both a part and detached from the city. Taking one of the highest highways I've ever been to reach this island, the views from all corners of Coronado can be spectacular, especially for romantic moments when the sun rises and sets. However, usually in small communities on the water the price for entertainment and food can be tremendous. Luckily, there is a restaurant who knows you're looking for delicious seafood without destroying your mood and wallet. Let me tell you why Jolie is worth checking out at a very certain time. Jolie is located just a few minutes walk away from the ferry stop in Coronado. It sits neatly next to a facade of what looks to be a historical building. At first when you walk in you think the decor would be more ornate, but inside is a very minimalist presentation. Concrete floors with gray walls, a simple counter near the kitchen, and large steel shelves against one wall to hold wines and supplies makes this space feel very much like it's more pop up than permanent restaurant. It's also such a shame Jolie is so close to the water but the only natural light coming in is from the front entrance. A space so open as Jolie's dining room floor would benefit from more of the warm natural light coming through. However, ambience might be one thing but the best part of Jolie is the happiest of all happy hours: Oyster Hour. On Wednesdays to Sundays from 4 PM to 6 PM Jolie has a menu allowing you to enjoy a great selection of seafood at discounted prices. We're talking a chef's selection of different oysters for $1.50 each or Peruvian scallops at $3.50 each. Their crab toast, packed to the brim with crab meat, can be enjoyed for $17. Even hot items like Filet o Fish sliders or their house burger is available for discount during Oyster Hour. And if you're wondering if they skimp on the portions because the price is low then look no further than my photos. You can see they are not petite bites and each are presented beautifully. They do have other items on their full menu such as steak frites or Bluefin tuna and coming during Oyster Hour might give you the resolve to try these items since you saved so much. After eating what could only be described as a fisherman's catch worth of seafood it was satisfying to see my wallet only slimmed down instead of exhausted to zero. The service was kind and felt similar to what you might experience during lunch time at a bistro near the water in New York. I know, very specific, but what I'm trying to say is service was perfectly fitting for this joint. If you do decide to come to Coronado and looking for a delicious meal to capture the essence of this community I recommend coming to Jolie during Oyster Hour and eat to your heart's content. Then go for a walk by the waters to settle your fullness down. Cheers!

Google
Food took more than 30 mins to arrive, our waiter was way too busy to check on us even once while we’re waiting for food. Ppl arrived later got food before us. Oyster is served at the very end of the meal. That’s what to say about the service we got today. Food isn’t as disappointing as the service. We liked some dishes. Scallops and shrimp melon salad are pretty good, burger is ok, fish slider is more interesting. I like the croquettes. Oysters, which are served when we’ve almost finished, isn’t of the best quality though, 2 out of the 6 were almost empty. We didn’t say a thing since at this point we just want to leave. We had high hope and thought we’d be back seeing the good reviews but unfortunately this isn’t our experience.

Google
We really wanted to like Jolie. We arrived as a party of 5 and the menu looked great, the wait staff was super friendly, and our table was lovely. We ordered 3 appetizers and 5 mains, including a simple burger for our 6 year old daughter. Food trickled out very slowly, each of the 3 appetizers one at a time with about 15 minute gaps. Then our mains arrived, 2 at a time, with about a 10 minute wait between the first two sets of mains and then the last (5th one). Lastly, my dish, the $42 swordfish, was incredibly disappointing, see the picture. It was a tiny slice of overcooked meat. The sauce was lovely but it just wasn’t much of anything. Other mains looked so much better, like the lamb, which someone in our party loved. Another member of our party had the tuna and thought the flavors didn’t work. The pacing however was our main issue. The whole experience was 2.5 hours and we were ready to go. The servers were super nice but I think the small kitchen just isn’t set up for the throughput necessary to keep dishes coming at a reasonable pace. They did treat our daughter to a birthday ice cream which was lovely. As I have said the service was fantastic just hamstrung by the kitchen. I hope they can work on these issues and improve.

Google
Blink and you might miss it, Jolie packs huge flavors into a small space. Just having opened two years ago, I am so impressed with the strong menu. Each dish we had incorporated playful textures and fresh flavors. Although the interior of the restaurant is simple, the food is what supplies Jolie with artistic edge. Highly recommend coming here if you’re looking for high quality, flavorful dishes that are well priced.

Google
I was expecting some incredible food and what we got was definitely subpar. Great waitress who was doing her best to serve every table by herself, but they needed more staff. The bread was the best part of the meal. Steak frites were flavorless and the French fries were horrible, disappointing for a French restaurant lol. We got the cauliflower app and the menu said it came with couscous, no couscous, they brought out sesame seeds. The chefs didn’t know what couscous was… my salmon entree wasn’t cooked all the way through. The chefs in the back seem like they don’t want you there and don’t want to be working, taking their sweet time too. We enjoyed the wine though! Definitely not worth the cost, go elsewhere.

It would take a novel (or at least a decent short story) to encapsulate our experience. Jack was the most gracious host that anyone could ask for. He truly went out of his way to make our night special. Don't be deterred by minimalistic interior...they put their heart and soul in to service and food. Oysters...delicious! Scallops...spectacular! Shrimp and melon...crisp, fresh, unique, and absolutely incredible! Crab toast...yes, please!!!! Filet o' fish sliders...definitely an elevated and delicious version of the original. Sea bass crudo...heat contrasted with the saltiness of the capers was perfection. Steak frites...savory, tender, and delectable! Ice cream...unique...and incredible contrast of flavor and texture. Definitely a must stop for us on any future visit to Coronado. An absolute gem!!!

Google
So the place has very humble decor inside, but it’s very comfortable and chill with great service. We started with the bread and the cucumber melon shrimp salad, which were both absolutely to die for. I can’t recommend them enough. I had the gnocchi and I’m not gonna lie.. it was kind of sad, but I can’t be mad because the salad and bread with fun butters were just that good. I don’t think I’m a pasta snob from living in Italy for a couple years but maybe I am. The gnocchi were like mashed potato lumps and just kind of fell apart. I’ve made gnocchi myself being taught in cooking classes and it’s pretty simple and should have more structure and not be so mushy. I definitely will return to this place for the bomb salad and maybe will try the fish next time for a main.

Yelp
5 Stars -- great service and food. The Peruvian scallops were interesting and delicious, great for any enjoyer of citrusy seafood. The steak frites was the best I've ever had. Steak cooked perfectly, fries were delicious, with a nice lemony bernaise and a garlic aioli that was rich but not too oily. The interior is simple because they are clearly focused on the food.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful! From start to finish. We enjoyed every moment dining here. From the view, to the ambience to the delicious food! We sat outside and it is definitely a must visit! The service was great and we truly enjoyed our time here. The only dish we were not a fan of was the ROASTED BEET SALAD. The beets were so yummy, and all the ingredients were great, however...the bitterness of the arugula (which I eat often) overpowered the entire salad, imo. If they mixed in additional greens and or added a drizzle of honey or a balsamic reduction, it would've been perfect! What we ended up doing was putting the side of berries (that my fiancé requested as his side dish with his steak, instead of garlic fries and asparagus), and added it into the salad, which complimented his steak, nicely.

Yelp
An intimate dining experience in Coronado - it isn't a super fancy, aesthetic type restaurant. But it has heart and the food was good. We got the oysters and a glass of wine to start. The oysters were on the brinier side, so if you prefer a more creamy taste, this might be a skip. We also got the bread and the potato croquettes. Both were delicious, but the bread really got us! They had two different butters, one herb and one that was more red peppery. They paired well with the brioche. We ended with the steak frites which were good, but the steak was definitely a smaller portion than we thought. Not the most welcoming when first entering. I believe the host who greeted us is also the owner. Our waitress was amazing! Super attentive and very friendly. A good spot to try out if you're in the area.

Yelp
I went to Jolie for a 4pm Sunday dinner, expecting a chic date-night spot based on the online photos. Instead, I walked into a dining room that looked more like "Costco meets backyard catering", wine bottles perched on wire shelving, mismatched tables and chairs, and an open kitchen with a very casual vibe. Not exactly candlelit romance. But then came Catherine, our server, and she completely flipped the script. What Jolie lacked in ambiance, she more than made up for with warmth, thoughtfulness, and spot-on recommendations. She was attentive without hovering and genuinely elevated the whole experience. Food-wise: happy hour oysters and scallops were excellent, the house crudo was good but forgettable, and the shrimp + melon salad was a surprising star, fresh, creamy, refreshing with a crunch. We closed with vanilla ice cream dressed up with syrup, olive oil, and salt. Simple, nice, but nothing that'll change your life. Overall, Jolie feels like a restaurant still finding its identity. The food is playful, the potential is real, but right now the true gem is Catherine.

Yelp
Good for what we came for - happy hour oysters... I wasn't a fan of the sauces that came with...next time i will stick with lemons and tabasco as an option. Bread and butter plate is delicious. Crab toast was just ok. My friend had the scallop and the crudo of the day and said they were good. Service was ok. The inside itself has minimalist decor. good to keep costs down

Yelp
So worth it! We had such a great dinner there with friends. The place used to be butcher shop and they kept the decor very minimalistic which was fine. The seats could use cushions since the ones we sat on were metal. Again, not a big deal but could elevate the experience. The inside is intimate, they can only hold 34 people in the restaurant. They could use more baffles to help with the sound. Even with this, I am giving them 5 stars. The food was amazing and the staff were great. There were only two people and they were on it. Not sure how they serve the beautiful and amazing food they do in their tiny kitchen but wow. There were four of us and below is what we ordered. Scallops and oysters - so fresh and the sauce the scallops were in was light and refreshing. Brussel sprouts- the BEST! The sausage with it was fantastic and they were perfectly cooked. Ribeye- not on the menu. Very tender. The sauce was good but a bit salty. To be fair, we don't use a lot of salt on any of our food and our friends loved it. Loup de Mer - Mediterranean Sea bass- FANTASTIC and the presentation was amazing. Pork chop- holy cow! Tender and flavorful and so yummy. Dessert- ice cream with olive oil and a sauce I had never had before as salt. It was so simple yet so scrumptious!. I would 100% return!!! So, so good. Note- corkage fee is $25.

Yelp
My husband and I celebrated our 11th anniversary here, and it was such a great experience--surprising in the best way. We started with the melon shrimp salad, which we found out recently won an award--and it definitely deserved it. For our mains, my husband had the steak frites and I had the tuna steak. Both were excellent--cooked perfectly and really flavorful. Wine list was also well thought out and I was excited to see many different regions represented. The service stood out just as much as the food. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and seemed to genuinely care about making sure we had a good time. They really knew the menu and helped guide us toward great choices. Special thanks to Jack for his knowledge and great service. We'll definitely be back and would recommend this place to anyone. Just keep in mind the menu might change, so what you see in reviews may not always be available--but don't let that stop you. Everything we had was fantastic.

Yelp
So, so good! We had the wagyu tartare with bone marrow - chef's kiss - and potato croquettes to start. Both were a hit. Between the four of us, we had a chicken, steak, and seafood main - all done well. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Have never been told upon arrival at a restaurant's opening at 4 PM that dining was not possible for the rest of the evening. Even popular restaurants in NYC will accommodate no reservations for those willing to wait. No waitlist was offered at Jolie. Fortunately the bar next door accommodated us. We were able to order from the Jolie menu while enjoying a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. We enjoyed the croquettes, the tomato and citrus salad, the filet o fish sliders and the bbq swordfish. The latter was tasty but quite a small portion at $42. Bill arrived and one oyster hour dish was charged at the regular price.
google avatar

Yelp
Neat intimate dining experience in the heart of Coronado featuring small bites from an experienced chef but prices were just a bit too high for the portions offered. Tried a number of dishes including potato croquettes (nicely crisp on the outside and with a nice marinara sauce but priced at $18 for 4 balls), bread ($10, would be nice if it was included given but was very tasty), and gnocchi ($30, felt this was fairly priced given the portion was decent), pistachio ice cream ($15 or $18 if I remember correctly, 3 scoops of regular vanilla ice cream with some pistachio on top) The restaurant is quite small and has a nice ambiance. The waitstaff are superb. However overall just felt it wasn't spectacular given the price point, dishes were good but not outstanding and very expensive for small portions. Still leave a bit hungry after spending quite a bit. If more of a vibes/ambiance/fine dining experience person this is a good place for you, if more of a foodie there are better options

Yelp
This is such a hidden gem!! When you walk in, the space isn't overly decorated or done up so you're not sure what to expect but the food really speaks for itself. Each dish we had was really fresh from the oysters to the bluefin crudo and the flavor profiles were great!! The staff was excellent as our server was super attentive the whole night plus gave us a run down of each dish after serving it to us. Overall, it was such a great experience and we'll definitely be coming back again soon!

Dawn R.

Yelp
What a hidden gem. You can almost walk by this place on Orange Avenue but please don't. Wine during "oyster hour" is a steal and the food was fantastic!

Laura K.

Yelp
They should remove Outdoor Seating as an option. We were the lucky two to be seated at the only outdoor seat option last night (a small table with two metal chairs). Our waitress was lovely but us being the only two outside (at the only table outside) likely made it difficult to timely manage our table- not to mention the fact it was just an extremely awkward setup. Despite the ambiance miss- the food was delicious, I recommend the scallops and crab toast. I'm all for private dining this just felt poorly planned and not well executed.
google avatar

Whitney M.

Yelp
Look, I got the chef's choice (7 courses) and did the wine pairing. Normally I would take a picture of dessert, but frankly, that 7th serving of wine had me acting a fool and forgetting that my camera eats first. I loved this place. I loved that it was so plain and deli-like. I loved that you could watch the chefs cook behind what looked like an ice cream counter. I loved the gen Z-hipster vibe servers. It was just great. The only 2 notes that husband and I had: 1. The fish (was it halibut?) was under seasoned or needed a bunch more sauce or something. It felt slightly unfinished. 2. The pork shoulder needs a different color sauce. Like white. It tasted great but looking at it reminded me of grandma's meatloaf. Which sort of killed the fine dining vibe in my opinion. I'm giving 5 stars still because it was all very edible and just needs minor tweaks. My husband and I agreed that if you could get those two dishes figured out you will have Michelin looking at you.

Yelp
Wanted to start off by commending Jack for his one-man service from seating guests, clearing tables, keeping glasses full, and delivering plates to the table. He was friendly, attentive, and was overall a good vibe. In addition, the kitchen's ability to produce the food they do with such a minimalist setup is pretty impressive. Decor is also very minimalistic. Not much artwork on the walls giving it a soft opening vibe. We didn't see any liquor but we did take advantage of the Osyter Hour Rose and Bordeaux. We essentially tried everything on their Oyster Hour menu that runs Wednesday to Sunday from 3p-6pm. Notable dishes were: *peruvian scallops- loved the coconut vinaigrette *potato croquettes- hot and crispy on the outside, warm on the inside, good pesto and vodka sauce *crab toast- lots of jumbo lump crab, loved the hot sauce it was served with *filet-o-fish sandwiches- V reminiscent of McDonalds *kumamoto oysters- small, sweet with typical accoutrements A couple minor issues we encountered was that some of the portion sizing was inconsistent and items were missing from the dishes. Croquettes- Order was supposed to come with 4 but our two orders only came with 7 (we were a party of 7) and later came to find out they ran out of them but we were never told (we were the first party there). Caviar was missing from the crab toasts and we weren't told until we asked. We later found out they ran out as well. Crispy cauliflower portion seemed scant and it appeared the couscous was missing. Jack did attempt to make it right by offering a free bottle of Rose, which we appreciated. Would say a solid 3.5 overall. Maybe hearing about what was and wasn't available from the jump would've helped set our expectations with the portion sizing and missing items.

Yelp
Once you walk in you'll notice the incredibly pungent seafood smell, so you know you're in for the real deal. The interior is pretty bland, but the restaurant more than makes up for it with its incredibly fresh selection of seafood plates. We went with 5 appetizers and the main tuna entree and we were never bored. The service was also excellent and the servers were incredibly friendly
google avatar

Grace L.

Yelp
We made a reservation for this restaurant without looking at photos of the interior, so when we walked in, I was initially surprised. The interior is not decorated like restaurants normally are. However, we were warmly greeted by Jack who was our host and waiter. Upon chatting with Jack, we learned that this location used to be a butcher shop and that they plan on making renovations soon. Despite the interior aesthetics, the food tasted like it belongs in a fine dining restaurant. Jack gave his recommendations for his favorites from each category. We ordered: -Bluefin Tuna Tartare ($23): I highly recommend this dish. Every bite of tuna, which was plated on top of a buttermilk vinaigrette, paired perfectly with the grilled sourdough. -Crab Toast ($26): The jumbo lump crab, caviar, masago, and tarragon were already plated on the toast. This was delicious, and I would get it again. -Two oysters ($3.50 each): This was tasty but a bit small. -Two Peruvian Scallops ($5 each): These came with coconut vinaigrette, masago, and pickled Thai chili. I really enjoyed this starter. -Pork Chop ($42): I usually get pork chop that arrives all in one large piece. Instead, this came in slices, and the texture was so tender like pork belly. It came with cheesy semolina and arugula salad. -Ice Cream: We were given a vanilla ice cream dish with pistachios and olive oil since we were celebrating a special occasion. This was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Jack remained attentive and friendly throughout our whole meal. He checked in to see how we were doing throughout the meal, and perfectly timed when to bring out the next round of dishes. The couple next to us mentioned that they always get the chef's course, so we're planning to try that the next time that we're back. Thank you Jolie and Jack for such a delicious dining experience.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. As others have said, the decor is very minimalist, but the attention to detail on the food is really nice. The kitchen is out in the open, which I actually found interesting because I like to watch people cook. The entrées were a little overpriced for what you got And seemed like the afterthought to what were absolutely amazing appetizers. The Peruvian scallops were so good, we ordered four more for the table. I still dream about the liquid/sauce that was in those scallop shells. We also ordered the bread, and much to the chagrin of my attempts at low-carb diets, we ordered a second round of the bread. The potato croquettes were good and I would recommend them. Like many of the other reviews, we had the executive chef actually as one of our servers, and he was very friendly and amazing to talk to as we were enjoying our food. This ended up being a perfect pre-Rady Shell place before taking the boat over. I would absolutely recommend this as an appetizer spot.

Erin F.

Yelp
Great service and the food is tasty. Definitely try the crudo. Portions are a little small but it let me try more things than I would be able to normally. Prices were still pretty reasonable.

Yelp
We dined here for the first time on Saturday, June 7 with a reservation. As locals, we have wanted to try this place for a while. When you walk past it, has the look of a place that is all about the food as it is nothing but an empty space with some tables and a makeshift open kitchen in the back. We expected the chef to be turning out some amazing food. We were seated at a two-top towards the back of the room between two other couples and a group in the back corner. One major problem with this space is it is all hard surfaces (concrete floor and blank walls) so we were not able to carry on a regular conversation as the group in the back corner was loud enough to drown out everyone else. We started with the brussels sprouts as we get them any place that has them. They were an interesting take with a spicy sausage and different than the usual fried with basalmic glaze. I liked that they weren't overcooked or greasy. We also ordered the duck and steak frites. The duck dish was good, but not what was described on the menu. Both were minimalist takes so not big portions or served with any sides. The steak frites was one of the worst I've had. The meat was lacking a sear and served so rare it was stringy. The fries were way undercooked and just mushy, very disappointing. They do have an interesting wine selection with most glasses over $20 I think. Unfortunately, the ambience was so lacking and the restaurant is so loud when anyone is talking, it kills any romantic or other vibe that it might have. I wanted to like this place but I'd only recommend it for tourists as the food was not good enough to overcome. Hopefully they will invest in the interior (sound proofing) and improve their food consistency. Until then, it is just a blank space with and overpriced menu of hit-or-miss.

Yelp
Jolie had one of the most delicious meals I've had recently and it was super easy to snag a reservation!! It's such a charming and cozy spot for a date or girls night. The kitchen is kind of connected to the seating area, and it's a fun ambiance! I wish I got a glass of wine while I was there. It looked like they had such a nice and unique selection! Some highlights of the meal were the Pan Seared Gnocchi and Crispy Pork Belly. I had never tried rabbit before, so loved having that opportunity with the gnocchi! It was really creamy and rich. The Crispy Pork Belly was amazing because of the textures and mix of savory and sweet flavors! The Beef Tartare was nice too, but the tomatoes stole the show from the other flavors. So happy we tried this spot, really hoping it gets the hype it deserves!!

Yelp
My husband and I absolutely love Jolie. We've been here a number times for special occasions and celebrations over the past 8 months and it is a really lovely vibe in there. The service at Jolie is impeccable and we love catching up with Jack when we visit. The food is also amazing and consistently delicious. We have loved every single dish we have gotten here over that time. Our favorite appetizers we get are the oysters, Peruvian scallops, Cacio e Pepe arancini, crispy cauliflower, and bread and butter. We've had the loup de mer, halibut, scallops, gnocchi and short rib before and all were cooked to perfection. We would 100% recommend Jolie to anyone looking for amazing food, great service, and good vibes.

Yelp
Tonight was our first time here at Jolie. For starters, we enjoyed six delicious Kumamoto Oysters. For dinner, we tried the melon & shrimp salad and the pork belly. The salad was nicely blended with the sweet melony flavor, shrimp and a little kick from sliced jalapeño peppers. The pork belly was crisp and plump topped with fried/baked kale. Wow! Loved the meal with glasses ordered and white wines recommend by our server, Jack. Next time, we wanna try the "Trust the Chef" meal with wine pairings.

Yelp
For the love of God don't don't don't... we have come to Coronado every year for 36 years and this was one of the worst experiences we've ever had. The menu isn't what it claims it is online And it is BEYOND loud with a rock band playing next door... I will attach pics but man it's bad. We only got a couple apps bc we had to get out of there. The crab toast was meh but the scallops were great.... I can't express how weird and awkward and kinda horrible this was!

Yelp
This place really disappointed me based on the other reviews I read. We had dinner on a Saturday night and there were several strange things happening even when trying to book the reservation. When we tried to book, Resy showed no availability so I chose Notify to see if anything popped up later. Around 3:30PM, I got the Resy alert that a table might be available and there were tables available every 15 minutes from open to close time. It seems like they must not open up all of the tables for reservations until right before service. We took a 7:30 table. When we arrived, they were already out of oysters, and they were out of 2 of 6 entrees. This seems like poor inventory management to be out of so many items early on a Saturday night and was disappointing because we really wanted oysters. The service was OK, but indifferent. We ordered a Bottle of wine and they poured the first glass, but then didn't pour for us again even when they were standing at our table watching us pour our own wine. The gnocchi entree was not hot, although the flavors were good. It was also pretty small with very little crab. The halibut was a nice size but the sides it was served with were really more like garnishes: 1 mushroom and 1 sliver of dry, unseasoned grilled cabbage. There were no starch or vegetable sides on the menu to order either. The bathroom hallway is behind the restaurant and still under construction and the women's bathroom had no soap, but I couldn't find anyone to let them know. Overall, we spent about $200 for 2 people and were left pretty disappointed.

Yelp
Love the Staff and ambiance. Food was creatively curated and absolutely delicious! Very chill and casual vibe which was pleasantly surprising given the sophisticated menu

Yelp
I recently booked Jolie for a bridal shower party. Molly coordinated for the venue and was beyond helpful! Everyone I worked with was so easy going, letting us adjust menu items to suit the guests, and giving us free rein with decorations. The staff made sure our drinks were full and were so fun with the bride. Everyone loooooved the food- the burrata and bread like what ?!!! Insanely good and that was just the first course. I highly recommend this place for events, you won't be disappointed. Thank you Molly & Jolie Staff!

Yelp
Originally came to Jolie for small bites and ended up doing their "Trust the Chef" tasting menu of seven courses ($75 per person), in which we really had to trust the process! We were assured before changing our minds that most of the course was what we were already ordering and just went with it. They also sell a variety of wines here that you can grab and go as I witnessed an order pick up. Our courses in order were: Kumamoto Oysters & Peruvian Scallops (5/5): Came with two each and the oysters came with caviar. They were nice starters and were bright flavors. King Salmon Crudo (5/5): The king salmon is like butter! The softest salmon I've ever tried. This one was my favorite. Steak Tartare (5/5): My second favorite item. The tartare was served on a thick sourdough toast and sat on top of fresh tomatoes. Cacio e Pepe Arancini (5/5): Had hints of truffle flavor and very rich in flavor! Sea Bass (4/5) - This was their substitute for the lump crab cakes. It was pretty fresh and I enjoyed the capers on top with the lemon. The fish skin was fried evenly and remained hot and crispy. Duck Confit (4.5/5) - This was served on a bed of fig jam and lentils. It was already flavorful on its own but the fig jam went well with the duck. Panna Cotta (4/5) - Topped with grapes and peanuts. This combination went pretty well together as well as the layer of caramel I believe provided a lot of sweetness. We were quite full towards the end but extremely satisfied. Since we tried a little bit of everything I'm not sure when my next visit will be, however, the tasting course proves that Jolie produces amazing dishes. The ambience could use a little more as there is no natural lighting or any windows, but the food is spectacular coming from such a a limited kitchen space. My favorites lean more towards their starters so I would recommend any of the ones I got in the course. The staff was friendly, helpful, not to mention knowledgeable about the menu and gave a great experience.

Yelp
I was in Coronado and checked yep for quality dining. Zero regrets. Honestly it felt like my own cooking (i used to chef). No rules just really fresh ingredients and ideas that make sense but are surprising. Jack (chef i think?) and Jack (waiter?) were awesome and helpful. The scallop was absurdly fresh, chilled, served possibly in its own shell with contrasting flavors. The tuna crudo was an awesome twist on bluefin sashimi also with wonderful contrasting flavors. Lupe de meir (I used to prepare this for a famous client daily) was great, contrast of texture of the skin and fish, and the sauces were subtle and made the flavor complete. Bread and butter was like eating donuts. Just so good, must get it. What really surprised me was the dessert. So simple looking and sounding. Vanilla ice cream. With Saba and Olive oil drizzle, almonds and walnuts. Absurdly good combo. So good it's going to be in my home kitchen now. And Jack enthusiastically gave me a bottle of Saba! Stating he just wanted me to have that experience. This was like eating in the home of a great chef. Ill be back.

Yelp
What an interesting little place ......... As you can see from others' inside pics, this is a very unpretentious restaurant. Your food is prepared at the very end of the dining area and their wine is stored along the north side of dining area. Literally what you see, is what you get. The staff was pleasant and attentive. This evening we were eating progressively along 3 restaurants, so were ordering small plates. We started with the Garnet Yam. As you can see in my pic, you'll receive half a yam. The black garlic bbq sauce worked quite well with the depth of the yam. The sauce, while savory, wasn't that garlicky or tangy/sweetness of a meat bbq sauce. So it complimented the yam well. Ordinarily we like the chew of yam skins, but in this case it was tough - see it was pulling away from the yam. The garnishing with the sesame and peanuts added a great crunch held up to the yam and depth of the bbq sauce. We also shared the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake. As you can see in my pic, there are fresh lumps of crab. The sear was great. The Louie sauce was a nice light compliment to the lightly seasoned cake. The cake was lightly packed and fell apart, allowing it to absorb the Louie sauce.

Yelp
The ambiance was chill and the food was spot on! Some foods you have to try here are Brussels Sprouts, Tartare, Crab bread, and the Peruvian scallops. The restaurant design was minimalistic. Kat, the waitress was very kind and helpful! You have to try this spot!

Yelp
This was a wonderful restaurant on Coronado Island. It is small and intimate. The restaurant was a little noisy at first but after one large party left it was perfect. The dish sizes were great and the food and presentation were all wonderful. Recommend this restaurant for a date night or romantic evening out. Great wine selection too.

Yelp
An absolute hidden gem. Excellent flavor profiles, masterful wine pairings, great service, fresh on fresh seafood. You will tell your friends and family that you've been here.

Yelp
Five star dining experience Creative, delicious, and beautiful food! Jack and Jack were caring, thoughtful servers and a joy to speak with. My husband and I did a "trust the chef" dinner and let him pick our courses - fantastic! We'll be back

Yelp
This place in person is not like in the pictures at all. Weird vibe, it seems like they run out of money to finish the restaurant. The service and the food are okay, but definitely overpriced for what they offer.

Yelp
This place is a gem. It's tiny, unassuming, and puts out fabulous food. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and they know their stuff. Do yourself a favor and get the wedge salad. My very favorite.

Yelp
2nd dinner here - impressive both times. Quality over quantity. Friendly knowledgeable server and allowed our golden retriever inside. We will definitely be back. Creative preparation, quality ingredients, great service, perfect location, and solid wine - what more could you ask for...get the scallop!

Yelp
Adorable little nook of a restaurant that you don't want to pass up! Clean and classy vibes; definitely "Not a Chucky Cheese". The staff worked as a cohesive team to take care of us all night as we throughly enjoyed our 'trust the chef' 7 course meal. Trust me you want to try out the 'trust the chef' route. Every dish was delicious, so much I didn't manage to snag a photo because we all dove right in. We were a clean plate club table! They have a nice wine selection that pairs well with their menu. Back to the staff, they truly went above and beyond to make our experience memorable, fun, and enjoyable. Thank y'all! You must give this new little gem a try!!

Yelp
The service was excellent The ambiance was sterile and the temperature inside the restaurant way too cold The salad with melon was excellent. The beef was mostly fat, and the potato dish was uninspired.

Yelp
Do you want to splurge? My wife took me here for my birthday. They offer a 4 course meal for $120/each. You can add a wine pairing, as well, for more $. We don't drink alcohol, but they also offer a nonalcoholic beverage pairing. My wife bought that for me. Each course has four choices and you need to decide which 4 you are going to choose. Each dish looks fabulous. The service is impeccable! After we made our choices, the waiter would bring each dish and announce it, letting us know what it was. Then the nonalcoholic beverage would arrive and be announced. And it was amazing how well each blended with the food! The silverware was replace with each dish. The portions were small, but we both agreed we were full at the end and that the whole experience had been worthwhile. My only problem is: what to do for HER birthday!

Yelp
Our reservation was for 5pm on Saturday. We had tickets for a show at the Lamb Player's Theater, so we're limited with time. The place was clean and sparsely decorated with a bit of an industrial feel. It's a small restaurant but you won't feel cramped. Jack served us and we were surprised that they had an "Oyster Hour" from 4- 6pm every day they are open. Since it was so early, we decided to stick with appetizers and a salad. We had the Peruvian Scallops and fresh Baja oysters. So delicious and fresh! Then came the Potato Croquettes (highly recommended by Jack) . They were crispy on the outside and light & fluffy on the inside, delish! Next came the fish filet sliders on a brioche bun, yum! Followed with the Shrimp and Melon Salad, the dressing was amazing! It was bright & sweet. Our last dish was the crab toast, fresh & tasty! It was a wonderful meal and very reasonably priced. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Coronado.

Yelp
We've been coming to Coronado for 33 years and this is by far the best meal we have ever had! Sorry to only post a few photos but we were too busy eating everything. We started with the freshest most flavorful Oysters, and Peruvian Scallops. Next we had Hamachi Crudo, Arancini, Grilled Octopus and Parker House rolls, Every dish was truly exceptional. The sauces, garnishes and seasonings accompanying each dish worked harmoniously. The service was welcoming and helpful. It was so interesting to learn about the menu and I really appreciated the help in selecting the most wonderful wine to enjoy with dinner. We will be back to dine again next week as we eat our way through the entire menu.

Yelp
We found this spot in our last trip to Coronado. We should have been looking harder in previous trips, this place was Amazing! The food was awesome. We had the scallops and burrata as appetizers. Both dishes were very good, the scallops were amazing! The entrees were also both gray steak frites and chicken Milanese both were great. Steak was cooked perfectly and chicken was as well. The Old fashioned while different than traditional were very nice as well. Wife loved her wine selections as well. The place is small. And there as a large party that was clearly having a good time so it was a little noisy. It caused an issue with my entree order but that was quickly remedied. Can't say enough about the wait staff. They were busy with the large party but didn't miss a beat taking care of us. We will definitely be back every trip we take now

Yelp
Easiest review I've ever given any business. This restaurant is Michelin star food quality with amazing staff. Best food experience I've had a while and in my opinion best restaurant in Coronado. Celebrated my birthday here with my boyfriend. Had clams, buratta salad, carpaccio & tuna crudo. Everything was to die for and we legit savored and enjoyed every single bite. Food was so good and light. Ate a ton of food but left feeling satisfied and not disgustingly full which I think speaks for the quality of food. The staff was excellent and attentive. The chefs prepared every dish with love. Love that it's a small spot. Very intimate. Big things!!!

Yelp
Had a wonderful meal at the new Jolie. All the reviews are accurate. Food is unbelievable!! Amazing what they can do with only a cook top and induction grill! We chose the chefs special where they prepare about 7 courses to bring out. They do take your likes also. It was $65/pp. well worth it. Only reason not a 5 star is it's loud in there, they told us they're working on fixing that, also, the seating outside I think can be better. A little uneven. And don't like high tops. We did sit inside. Know that they're closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
