"Like the name implies, Jollof Pot is a restaurant in Miramar that’s really good at jollof rice. It’s spicy with a gorgeous deep orange color that should make all plain white rice a little jealous. The steam counter works great for a quick sit-down lunch or takeout. Even if you decide to eat here, their mountainous portions will force you to leave with a takeout container anyway. Our favorite platter is the one with roast chicken, sweet plantains, and jollof rice. The chicken is juicy with a flavorful, crackly skin. But nothing can compete with that rice. They also make a hearty egusi soup with beef, goat, and turkey. It comes with a big ball of pounded yam that you should use to absorb all of the above. photo credit: CLEVELAND JENNINGS / @EATTHECANVASLLC" - Mariana Trabanino

Ordered egusi but it wasn’t really a stew it was more of a soup. With all water at the bottom Kind of disgraceful to Nigerian dishes . There was more water than stew and meat smh. With their little containers. I didn’t know egusi came with the tomato sauce on top. I’m disappointed how can this be Nigerian food and african restaurant without knowing the proper ingredient to make egusi. All water no stew! They are just putting bone marrow and fat in the food calling it assorted. Last I called to see if my food had been picked up and she was acting like it’s none of her business is that how you run a business?

I’m New to South Florida (originally from Boston) & Had been searching for some good African food. I went to Moji a couple months back & got fufu & Egousi from there & I was sooooo disappointed smh but this Place (Jollof Pot) did not disappoint. I couldn’t decide between Chicken w. Jollof rice or Fufu w. Egousi so I got both dishes & baby when I tell you my taste buds were dancing lol. The food was DELICIOUS & full of flavor. Everything was soooo Good & I definitely will be back. This is now my African spot for sure & I highly recommend you go check it out. If I could it 10 stars I would, the food was literally 10/10

Google
Firstly they have a great customer service. The staff is very helpful in terms of helping us understand each food items they have. However the food itself were horrible. The meat was very dry and tasteless. We got the soup as well and they were very bland too not much flavor. They were also a bit on the pricer end especially the food was not great. The place was very quiet and mostly people do take out. The place was also very clean too. But overall won’t be coming back again.

Google
This was my first time trying Nigerian food, and it was an incredible experience! I appreciated being able to choose the type of meat, as I’m not a big fan of goat meat. The flavor profiles in the egusi and fufu were absolutely amazing—completely new to me, but I enjoyed every bite. I also made sure to eat the fufu the traditional way by swallowing, which added to the authenticity of the experience. I would definitely come back again—so delicious!

Google
This restaurant was highly recommended by my pedicure technician who is also Nigerian. First upon entering, I was welcomed by the server with a warm smile who assured me that I would definitely be enjoying my meal. When I received my food, it was fresh and hot well portioned and flavored with love 🩷. The food was so delicious that I called to relay this to the owner who was appreciative and humble. My experience was amazing and exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be returning as a serial customer….

Google
Honestly the worst experience ive had at restaurant regarding price and portion size. I sent my husband to get some food and he came back with this palm size plate and told me it was $22. The worst part about it is that they’re already closed so I can’t even bring it back.

Google
The staff was very friendly and the location is very clean and welcoming. I got the jollof rice with meat. The meat and the sweet plantains were good but definitely some getting used to the aroma of the jollof rice. The flavor of the rice was like when you burn yellow rice so I am not fully sure if that the rice was burned or if that’s an intentional flavor. I was also served a lot of bone and fat instead of meat. But the meat that I did get was good and flavorful.

Google
I ordered the Egusi stew with whitening fish. I am Black American so I eat my stews with Jollof rice. I called and spoke with the owner and she was happy to accommodate me. I received the food and everything was good! This is my first time ordering via Ubereats with them but I have been coming here in person for years. Jollof pot is the best African restaurant in Miami! The food is fresh and has quality! They also put a sticker on the bag to prevent Uber drivers from eating and opening your food!

Yelp
The food is soooo good!!! I've been craving African food for a long time and I'm so glad I came by. The staff is super nice and the food is full of flavor. Very authentic. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Steaming with flavor and packing a punch! If you're a fan of bold, authentic Nigerian dishes, Jallof Pot is the place to be! This casual spot serves up massive portions of jollof rice, fufu, pounded yam, and more, all for just $15 a plate. The flavors are next level--each dish is packed with rich spices and made fresh to order. The portions are so huge, one plate can easily feed two people! Just a heads up, they run out of certain items fast, so make sure to get there early. Trust me, this place is a hidden gem in the heart of Miramar! Please note, customer service could have been a little better. This was our first time visiting, and I would have wanted a little more guidance.

Yelp
First time for me to try Nigerian food. I sampled the pounded yam fufu, which is popular in West African countries. It is also considered one of what they called "swallow foods", which is often served with soups and stews. To go with it I sampled the Efo Riro soup. It is predominantly a Spinach stew type of soup. This is a native soup of the Yoruba people of South West Nigeria and other parts of Yorubaland. The two vegetables most commonly used to prepare the soup are Celosia argentea and Amaranthus hybridus. The name is derived from the Yoruba language and loosely translated to "stirred leafy greens." The spinach available in West Africa tends to be a little different: it has larger leaves, and it's a bit heartier. I will come back and try other dishes next time.

Isabel H.

Yelp
I'm not sure what happened but these aren't the flavors i first experienced my first time at this restaurant. It tasted mostly like oil and spice. It definitely needed more seasoning. Same thing with the chicken. I got my favorite, efo riro w/chicken however it definitely lacked flavor. I was looking forward to it since i hadn't been in a while. I hope those flavors can make a come back.

Belinda B.

Yelp
Yep...I went back! I still like it. My companion enjoyed okra stew with snapper. I enjoyed the spinach stew with snapper. Shared bowl of jollof rice and pounded yam. Need better drink options!!! No problems either customer service! Everybody was smiling and helpful!

Tifanny B.

Yelp
Ordered last year for an event and the food was immaculate. The catering was great! We had chicken and jollof rice. 10 out of 10 across the board.

Yelp
Food: 5/5 Location: 3/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Firstly, I want to start off by saying that this was officially the 2nd time that I've tried Nigerian food in South Florida. My expectations were quite high because I wanted to make sure I throughly enjoyed my food, and that's exactly what I did! The location of Jollof Pot is in a crowded plaza & it's hard to find parking but nonetheless I found parking. I ordered Efo Riro with pounded yam, Snapper with Jollof & Plaintains. I also got chin chin which is a Nigerian snack. The Efo riro was definitely my favorite out of the entire meal. I didn't expect to enjoy the catfish as much as I did to be honest. The catfish was soft, flaky, and well seasoned. I was quite apprehensive to taste catfish because I'm usually a snapper person, but overall I would get it again. The snapper, jollof, plaintain was quite nice. The snapper was well seasoned & the jollof reminded me of spicy tomato flavored seasoned rice. Every meal I had was SPICY, so if you're not into spicy this isn't for you! The chin chin snack was very interesting also, it reminded me of hard flour cookies with no sugar. Overall, it was a great experience. FYI the staff was quite friendly and very attentive !

Yelp
When I have a craving for some African Food. This is my go-to spot. I always get the same thing, Egusi and Fufu. I like the Okra soup as well

Segun D.

Yelp
If I could give them a negative star I would. They have an EXTREMELY disrespectful and rude older woman working there. I'm not sure if she's the owner or just the cook, but her customer service skills are DEPLORABLE. I ordered a party tray of Jollof Rice for my birthday event that was happening on a Sunday. She told me that they aren't open on Sunday, but if I come before 2pm to pick up the food everything will be set. I text her an hr before I show up on Sunday that I'll be there at 1pm. I get there at 12:58pm just to be SCREAMED that they weren't open, as I walk in the unlocked door. I calmly tell her my name and my order to diffuse the situation, yet she continues to yell that I need to text her before showing up..... which I already did. When I finally get my food, it's not properly wrapped or secured. Not to mention she and whomever her assistant was had their bare feet on the floor the whole time and had filthy clothes on. I really wanted to like them to support my fellow Naija people. But everything they did that day soured my viewpoint of them drastically. Hope they change their ways for the future.

Shardae W.

Yelp
It's not the best but it's the best African food you'll get in South Florida. It was tasty but I've had better!

Shanni P.

Yelp
Been wanting to check this place out for a while and we finally went. The food has excellent flavors, if you're used to chicken nuggets and burgers this isn't the place for you. I would say Jollof Pot is for the culinary adventurers, and people who like bold flavors who can enjoy Nigerian cuisine. The fufu is a stickier version of mashed potatoes not flavored it's used as a binding for the spinach soup and Chicken as it's eaten with your hands. Also , their spinach soup is pretty spicy but good as well as the chicken. Next time I go I will try the Okro soup. Overall I would return it's good for a quick lunch or dinner no need to get fancy, and the two people working there were helpful in guiding us on what to decide. I would definitely go back to this place.

Posh B.

Yelp
Visited here and everything i wanted the answer was we do not have this either today or anymore wasted an hour drive

Taneka M.

Yelp
It was our (my two sons and I) first time trying African cuisine we enjoyed every bit of it. We had the egusi with fish. The egusi and fish had a just the right amount of spice it was delicious. I also ordered the seafood gumbo I wanted to eat the gumbo at the restaurant, but unfortunately it was cold and couldn't be warmed at the restaurant. Our overall experience was delightful. The young lady that took our order was pleasant and helpful.

Christina W.

Yelp
This food was so freaking good!!!! It was so flavorful!!! I don't do well with spicy, but it was so delectable I took my chances and powered through. I cannot wait to go back for some more!!!! This was my first time visiting an African restaurant. I figured the service wouldn't be up to par. Typically when visiting Caribbean restaurants (let's say Jamaican) they always have attitude and are impatient. So I was not surprised when I got the same type of treatment from the lady at the counter. I will say she did attempt to explain some things as best she could. I'd say you have a three question minimum before the irritation starts. It's okay though because the food was AMAZING. Now that I know what's what there's no need to ask questions the next time I go in. I just wish people would be friendlier. Especially knowing it's a customers first time there! Moving along though! The restaurant itself could be more appealing to the eyes. It looked a bit junky behind the counter. The seating area was fine though. All in all I can overlook the negatives from my visit because the food more than made up for it. Both of us enjoyed our meals and will for sure be back.

Keanie T.

Yelp
The food was pretty good. The portion size for dining in was great for the price paid. We ordered the Assorted meat with Jollof rice and moi moi. It was very tasty. My only critique is that we came an hour or so after their opening time and there were a few items not ready just yet or not available at all. Other than that I was pretty happy with our visit. They had nice service and the ambiance was great.

Bebe M.

Yelp
My friend and I dined here... the food was tasty. The service was prompt; they have a wide array of options but not much for vegans or vegetarians. The ambiance is a no-frill set up lol very African( as in you can buy various imported products at their restaurant while they prep your meal. I hope they can bring their vegan option again...

Cheyenne C.

Yelp
This was my first time eating at jollof pot but not my first time eating African food. I ordered the Egusi (w/ assorted meats) and pounded yam as my swallow . Let's start off w/ the portion size.. it was so small and there was no meat in my plate. All bones . At first glance I thought it was all meat but nope again, all bones and a giant piece of cow skin. The little meat that I had was tough and chewy. The flavor of the meat Egusi was very salty. I've had Egusi before and it was not like this. I expected a lot more from jollof pot especially from reading all of the positive reviews on Yelp. Maybe I dined in on a bad day or maybe I should try to dine in earlier in the day.

Nya S.

Yelp
Now, i'm not sure if they've had to cut serving sizes because of inflation or what but you get a small portion of food. Maybe it's because we got it to go? Even so, the serving size should be equal whether i'm dining in or not because i'm still paying the same price. Think of one of those small milk cartons you used to get in elementary school, but smaller and round. Anyway, I digress. I ordered the egusi(?) soup with pounded yam and it was good for my first time trying it. If you're picky but want to try something new, I would say to get this to go since it is a small portion of food. The cashier was nice and the place was clean and well organized. Nice selection of bottled beverages as well. It's not a bad place but I mean come on, $14 for a mini milk carton? If you want more, maybe dining in will get you that big bowl you see in the picture.

Jordy W.

Yelp
Nice place in in Miramar, Fl, African / Nigerian food for the culture. Very good and services are nice and fast! I definitely recommend this spot

Just I.

Yelp
Went to eat here recently and was horrified. The rice tasted burnt. Nothing like the Jellof rice I am used to. The chicken was horrible. Hard and tasted old as well. Gave them a 2 star because the Jupina was cold and refreshing. Save yourself the aggravation. I was so close to asking them for a refund. The lady taking orders was not friendly or helpful at all. This is a place that I would be skeptical about ordering from again.

JaiQuietStorm S.

Yelp
The older Auntie/Mother/Elder was extremely rude and disrespectful to my mother who is also an elder. It was her first time there and she was navigating the menu and was rushed and spoken to in a deeply insensitive way. She will not be returning to Jollof Pot which is unfortunate because the food is really authentic and we love to support our Black owned businesses and community members but the service didn't match the food quality. Younger staff are really kind and consistent.

Synañom B.

Yelp
It was better then expected I had the jollof rice and chicken it was good and spicy but not to bad my sister had the fufu she also enjoy

Tee C.

Yelp
This place never disappoints. The food is mad with love and trust me you can taste it. Everyone there is friendly and treat you like family. I shall Recommed to All I know and if you want original African deliciousness this is your spot.

Ria H.

Yelp
I have had jollof before from a take out restaurant in Miami and it left me underwhelmed. The one from Jollof Pot hands down is the best so far. I see why it is so popular now. It has a smokey profile, not burnt though. I went close to closing and they were still pretty busy- a good sign. Really like that they have popular items ready to go and even though it was busy, service was quick and very courteous. The lady serving up the food talks to you like you know each other forever. I loved that really. Efo Riro- 5/5 so crazy good. It's a spinach stew with peppers and crayfish. Perfect little spicy kick and such a good side for the rice. I had it w chicken because at the time it was the only meat option. The menu does have the option of catfish and mixed meats as well. They also do mixed combos! So if you want to try a variety of items, that is an option. Will be returning to try other menu items for sure.

Yelp
Outside of beautiful foreign women, I always welcome new ethnic cuisine in South Florida. Unlike the east or west coast, we're about 40 years behind in culinary diversity. So I was excited when I did a random yelp search for the term "African", and Jollof Pot popped up. Even better it's only 10 minutes away from me, unlike other hard to find ethnic cuisine clustered in the Lauderhill area. When I walked in I saw imported Nigerian drinks, frozen cooked foods, and few Nigerian snacks. While I was waiting to ask the woman behind the counter questions. I overheard her Nigerian customers saying whenever they come to Miami they always stop in to get food. Once I was able to talk to the friendly woman, she told me more about the menu and the varying offerings & combos. She also mentioned they had been open for about a year. I ordered Jollof rice, chicken, plantains, and I also bought palm juice, something that I didn't even know that existed. Once I arrived home I put the palm juice in a large cup of ice and started grubbing. The chicken was a little lukewarm, but it was divine, I loved how spicy it was with the thick reddish gravy. I always enjoy jollof rice when I can get my hands and it definitely didn't disappoint. The next time I pop in I'm going to try the pounded yam with one of their soups. - multiple tables to sit at - they sell some African groceries, but not many - refrigerated/frozen cooked foods - they cater - great customer service

Joel W.

Yelp
My daughter wanted to try African food so a search landed us at Jollof Pot. We got there about an hour before it closed and were the only people in there. By the time we left, an hour later, there were about 10 people there. Since African food is new to us, we chose to sample a few different things. The 2 women working there were very pleasant and very helpful. I chose the chicken with jollof and vegetable rice and she had the egusi soup with chicken and pounded yam. It was a good sized piece of chicken that came off the bone easily. I loved the smokiness of the jollof rice but it was a bit spicy. The vegetable rice would be a good choice for someone not a fan of spicy. The Egusi soup was an experience. Apparently, you eat it with your hands. You take the pounded yam and flatten it out. You, then, pinch some soup into the flattened yam and eat it. I wish I could describe the flavor of the soup but I just can't place it. My daughter are most of it and it was fun eating with our hands. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely eat there again.

Lemon P.

Yelp
Great place, I had the efo riro with pounded yam, Jollof rice, & plantains. Everything tasted well. This was my first Nigerian cuisine experience. The flavors was very authentic which I loved.

Foodtastic ..

Yelp
I had just left my wax appointment and was headed to the turnpike and saw a sign that said Jollof Pot....I did a double take and said "Jollof"??? In Miramar? My parents were visiting at the time....I called them and I said guess where we are going for lunch today?!?!? JOLLOF POT!!! As we entered we heard sweet afro beats blaring....beautiful colorful walls with pictures of signature Nigerian dishes. A woman greeted us and asked to take our order. We told her that it was our first time here. Was not feeling her personality. Very impatient. Now if you don't want to repeat yourself, turn the music down. They have a variety on the menu and the food is already prepared....We had the following below: Fufu and Egusi Soup - Melon seeds and a variety of fresh African spices, dried fish, stock fish cooked in palm oil, garnished with spinach, pumpkin/bitter leaf. Fufu Fufu is dough-like food made from fresh or fermented cassava...Very soft and you normally eat with soup/stews. -- Delicious soup....Very flavorful. Pan Fried Red Snapper, Jollof Rice and Moimoi. -- The first time that I had Nigerian jollof rice it tasted like Mexican rice to me. I was confused BUT this time the jollof was on POINT! I tasted the signature smoky flavor of this self prescribed party rice. Authentic jollof rice. The snapper was well seasoned however semi hard b/c it was already prepared and just sitting in the pot. The moimoi is a Nigerian steamed bean pudding made from a mixture of peeled black-eyed beans, onions, hot pepper, fresh ground red peppers and a hard boiled egg in the middle. Beef Stew, Jollof Rice and Moimoi. -- Again the rice was on point. The beef was in a nice tomato red bell pepper spicy sauce however the meat was tough. Rating: C+

Yelp
There aren't many African restaurants in the area so I'm very happy to have this one!

Jordan R.

Yelp
AMAZING. Very fresh and wonderfully spiced. Great atmosphere and good service I will be back

Amanda H.

Yelp
I Stumbled upon this place after getting my nails done. First time I've ever tried this kind of cuisine and it was absolutely delicious! Spicy, flavorful and decent size portion for a very good price!

Cristho P.

Yelp
The food was so good, excellent service and the vibes were immaculate. Egusi and Jollof rice were exceptional and made my taste buds climax, I will be back.

Patrick J.

Yelp
I had the efo riro from here five times in a month. Im not proud of it, but it's so good. Be ready for some spice unless she pours the sauce on light.

Shaquan C.

Yelp
Amazing food and very sweet staff! Definitely recommend. We have gone multiple times in the last 2 months.

Joyce R.

Yelp
Decided to come here with my family after craving Egusi and Jollof. We got there about 30 or so mins before closing. Good amount of customers. The owner was letting us know she was making more chicken. Almost everybody got their orders to go. We were going to do the same but the owner let us stay to eat even though it was closing time. So generous ! Now the food. We ordered the Egusi, Okra Soup, and Chicken with Jollof. It was amazing. It had a little kick which I loved. My husband loved his Okra soup. My 2yr old had a bowl of jollof to herself and loved it. We took home small containers of Plantains and Gizzards. Delicious ! The food and the service were top notch. On my list of favorite places to eat when I visit Miami. Will definitely be back

Perry A.

Yelp
I've wanted to try fufu and egusi stew so bad and I came here to get some and it was amazing ! Only thing is that it was super spicy but so delicious and worth the money.

Ant J.

Yelp
There aren't very many Nigerians restaurants in the Miami area. Currently there are 2 others that are known to me. Jollof pot wasn't hard to find, placed in the newly built shopping complex off the turnpike. The restaurant is really clean and spacious. Good for entertaining. I ordered off the menu and was able to change the meal to my preference. I ordered jollof rice, plantains and assorted meat consisting of cow feet and Turkey. The food didnt take long to plate, very hot and fresh. The staff was very welcoming and nice. The owner is the cook and entertains the guest. Prices weren't bad either. I ate for roughly $11+tax. Overall the place is quick, good and efficient.

Tiaji T.

Yelp
ABULA!!!!! GHEEZE. Jollof Pot is an amazing Nigerian restaurant, oh LORD. I am so happy I found this little gem in Miami. The flavors are on point, the food is always so hot and the owner is such a sweetheart. For non-nigerians: start off with getting the jollof rice with assorted meat/plantain -- this will not disappoint. It is smokey, sweet and filling! If you are feeling daring, go on Saturday and try the ABULA! Its is a traditional dish in Nigeria that we all go crazy for. I love the way she makes it and I love the quality of her ingredients. Please give this place a try, I'll be there every Saturday!

Shayla H.

Yelp
The food is always good . The owner and her young daughter are very pleasant , however the cashier denied me a side because she said they were running low and needed to have it for available someone else to order with rice . I've been coming here a while and never been declined a side of plantains for them to be held for other people. I felt the cashier was being discriminative and condescending by not allowing purchase the side which there was more than enough of . won't be back

Clarelly L.

Yelp
I love this location. This was my first time at this location or even trying African/ Nigerian food. I love the customer service i received. The lady was helpful when it came to explaining what is what and what would she recommend. I'm pleased with the amount of food given and the conversation we had. I had told many people about this place and they are happy as well. I would continue coming to this location.

Jenny Y.

Yelp
I really wish I loved this place more but I personally didn't. The lady was very nice and she was working so hard as she was basically the only person there when I went in right when they opened. She did everything from taking the orders and preparing the food. Had I not have had amazing Nigerian food before this, this place would've been wonderful. But in comparison to the other place, this was just average. The Egussi itself was amazing but the assorted meat underneath was very tough. The fufu was too soft, more like mashed potato instead of play dough consistency so it was hard to eat with your hand. If you never had Nigerian food and you are in the area, give it a try. Your experience may be better than mine.

Hannah A.

Yelp
My new favorite Nigerian restaurant. The chef was very nice and helpful, truly a sweet and lovely lady. The food is the best!!! Truly a taste of Nigeria. Do yourself a favor order the ayamase with white rice! The best I've tasted in Miami.

Daniel R.

Yelp
If you are a vegetarian and have been craving or want to try Nigerian food then this is the place to go. I was impressed with everything that I was served here. I had the Efo Riro without meat, the Nigerian salad and the puff puff. Make sure you don't leave here without getting the puff puff (Nigerian beignets) Service was super friendly and they are open for lunch and dinner until 8pm. Not open on Sundays. There are a limited amount of grocery items also for sale in the restaurant. Very clean and most dishes can be modified. They cater. Right off of the Turnpike and Red Road. Parking should be no problem.

G B.

Yelp
The best African food in Florida. I have had all. This is the most tasty African food I have eaten. I can't put my finger on the flavors. The food is something I have never had before. The flavors are amazing.

Jenika W.

Yelp
My first time trying African food and it was amazing. And I love that their clean with no weird smells.

Kay K.

Yelp
Nice food and wonderful service ,I would visit again,I would recommend this to anyone who wanna try African food

Julia A.

Yelp
We stumbled upon Jollof Pot and went in to eat today and plan to go back. The atmosphere was instantly welcoming, homey and kind. The chef is an aunt to the world and makes her space feel like you're arriving to your family's house and can stay as long as needed. All the customers are friendly and inviting to their culture and will jump up to offer their favourite meals and suggestions while chatting about Nigeria. The Egusi soup with punted yam was flavourful and delicious so full of spice that my fingers still smell like it an hour later making me want more. The jollof rice came with chicken so tender it falls off the bone while the goat soup is one of the most pleasantly spicy things I've ever had. I would return a million more times if I lived in Miramar. Thank you so much for the experience.

Jason S.

Yelp
Want to try something different, give this place a try. The owner she is so kind and welcoming. I tried the Egusi soup, it's not what us Americans call soup but the flavors were on point. Fresh ingredients and lovely atmosphere. Support this restaurant.

Ethan E.

Yelp
The food exceeded my expectation, and the amazing service that allowed us to figure out what we wanted being first time customers. I had the egusi and it was by far the best I've had. Will be coming here again.
