The Best Places For A Solo Wine & Pasta Meal In LA

"Sometimes you want to be left alone but also want to be surrounded by other people having a good time. That’s when Jon & Vinny’s Slauson fits the bill. Seated at the long wooden bar near the entrance, you’ll be surrounded by couples sporting matching tracksuits, fitness influencers huddled around their cheat day salads, and the friendly staff serving them. The space is small and borderline chaotic on weekends, but still reliable for a plate of vodka pasta and some orange wine. We usually stick to Jon & Vinny’s greatest hits, which means a plate of spicy fusilli with a side of meatballs and garlic bread." - jess basser sanders, nikko duren, sylvio martins

Jon & Vinny's Slauson - Review - View Park-Windsor Hills - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"With all due respect, the newest Jon & Vinny’s location in View Park near Inglewood is just like the other Jon & Vinny’s locations. It’s got the same Swedish sauna-inspired interior, a similarly annoying parking situation, and the rowdy dinner crowd to match. If you’re looking for a South LA spot to eat with someone who collects Jordan 1s or obsesses over Joe Rogan, this is it. Drake and Future dominate the restaurant’s aggressively loud playlist, so you’ll probably have to yell your order at the server. But when dishes like their spicy fusilli and crunchy little gem salad hit your table, it’ll all feel worth it." - Nikko Duren

Jon & Vinny’s Wants to Open Next Location in South LA’s View Park - Eater LA

"One of LA’s most popular restaurants plans to open in the View Park neighborhood of South LA, right in the former Yee’s building on Slauson. Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo are hoping to open a third branch of their Italian-American restaurant Jon & Vinny’s, which first opened in 2015 on Fairfax, then followed up with a sequel in Brentwood earlier this year." - Matthew Kang

The atmosphere was amazing. The customer service was great, but the food was trash! My wife ordered spaghetti and meat balls and the noodles taste extremely chewy. She complained it was either overcooked or under cooked. It was sticking to her teeth. Those fine people were graceful enough to exchange her spaghetti for pizza. Then Her pizza was burnt and greases. At this point she doesn’t want anything else. We came all the way from Texas to taste food of low quality and over priced!

Located on Slauson Ave., a nice trendy location with a very upbeat and welcoming interior. Seating is available indoors and outdoors. They have the coolest food mats. Service was not as expected. Though it was fast paced, lacked the customer service element. Staff was very robotic. Good with younger crowds and small groups, not optimal for family dining.

Came here for the rockys matcha collab, and decided to eat here for dinner as well because why not? I stopped coming to Jon & Vinny’s because I knew the serving sizes got a lot smaller and the prices went up. To my surprise it’s gotten worse - I’m writing this while I’m still eating dinner because the size of the cacio e Pepe is literally a joke!!!!! Will not justify $22 for this 4 bite size serving omg. Do better this is not Via Carota (and even that is overrated)

Went to this place last Friday, v it was absolutely amazing. We didn't have a reservation so we sat at the chef's bar, usually I don't like that seating, but honestly watching the kitchen crew work was fascinating. They each took so much care in whatever task they were on, it was awesome to watch. They took their time ensuring things were done correctly and carefully. Their pizza oven was really the star, but the guy cooking the pies was insane. He constantly checked the dough for an even cook and rotated each one slowly and consistently. The food was truly phenomenal and the service was stellar!!

To be honest I had low expectations for this place, partially because of all the reviews on here. However, this place blew me away. The Gem salad was light and refreshing with just the right amount of kick. The ricotta on toast was just out of this world. Probably my favorite. We saved a piece to eat as our dessert. The Roman Gladiator pizza was delicious- no flop. And I also got the wood grilled chicken (breast). Too much olives on the chicken for my taste but the tomatoes on the side were like candy. I wish I asked for more tomatoes. The spicy fusilli was the most overhyped and underwhelming thing. It’s ok and tastes fine but not $24 worth. They comped us on our ricotta for a drink spill on the table and the waitress was nice. They’ve also taken away the 18% charge on the bill so that was a nice surprise. I’ll be back for sure.

Food is good, but the prices and portions are not (AAA card for comparison). Came here with a friend driving by and followed the strong, delicious smell of garlic coming from the location. The menu looked good, so we ordered garlic bread, pasta, and pizza. The garlic bread was $5 and was literally a slice of bread (forgot to take a pciture). The pasta was $27 for a small portion, barely enough for a person. The pizza was $25 for a personal sized pizza. I'll admit both were good, but the high prices and small portions outweighed the taste. Service was good.

walked-in friday afternoon for 4 people and by the hosts reaction, you can tell that if we would have walked-in a little later in the night without reservations it would have been a problem so i recommend making reservations. the booth table is super small for 4 people, theres not much room for food. eventhough theres a plenty of servers walking past you, we had to make an effort getting their attention for something we need. as for the food, the pasta is great - i enjoyed the corn agnolotti, it was different and surpring for the taste buds; the spicy fusilli had the perfect spice and texture. the pizza was not much different to any other oven-fired pizza out there. the shaved zucchini salad was mostly arugula with a sprinkle of everything in the description. and they couldnt even pull out the yellowing/browning arugula. it just stood out in all the greens.

I love recommendations so when a family member who eats out quite often said we needed to go I brought my appetite. Despite not having reservations we got a table within minutes on a Thursday night. We ordered Wine Flights, Ricotta Crostino, Little Gem Lettuce Salad, Little Nats Pizza, Spicy Fusilli and Cacio E Pepe. Man what a feast and everything was great. The staff was continuously checking on us and of course we had leftovers because there was a lot of food ordered but I had to taste. Definitely 2 thumbs up!
