We’ve visited Jonathon’s countless times over the years, even back at the old location. The food has always been consistently good—we always order the same thing.
However, during our most recent visit, I was extremely disappointed by the experience. The older woman with the short haircut at the front door was surprisingly rude and abrasive, which is not what you’d expect from someone in a hostess role. It was also frustrating to see empty tables while people were being made to wait to be seated, especially when the delay was simply due to one person still parking the car.
Had we not driven so far as part of a surprise for my husband—who used to love this place—we would have gone elsewhere. Our server was friendly and helpful, but unfortunately, the first impression left by the hostess soured the entire visit. It honestly felt like she had no real investment in the business and was more of a liability than an asset. If she is affiliated with ownership, that’s even more concerning.
What’s also telling is that Jonathon’s doesn’t respond to reviews with complaints. That’s a clear sign they don’t value feedback or care about improving the customer experience.
It’s incredibly disheartening to spend your hard-earned money at a place and walk away feeling like your presence was a burden. Sadly, this will be our last visit. There are plenty of spots to get chicken and waffles with far better service. ✌️
