Jorge's was a highlight of our trip! I've been to PV numerous times but never found this wonderful place until now. We were lucky to have come on their final day on July 14 before they closed for the season until October. The seafood dishes were prepared beautifully, the portions were huge and the prices were so reasonable. The margarita was huge and probably the strongest I've had down there.
Loved the frosted Kahula drink offered for free after dinner. So refreshing. It reminded us of a frosted malt.
It's a very small, colorful restaurant with lots of charm. We arrived at 3 pm but they said they wouldn't be ready to serve until 4 or 4:30, so we came back later. The air conditioning wasn't on yet when we arrived, so they suggested we sit outside and have a drink until the room cooled. We enjoyed sitting outside next to the fan so much, that we told them to shut off the air-conditioning and save it until later when others arrived.
We had the House Special which were five huge prawns stuffed with mozzarella, wrapped with prosciutto and served with pesto sauce. The Mahi Mahi was stuffed with shrimp and tiny scallops and served with a delicious cream sauce. The fresh vegetables were beautiful and were cooked perfectly. The portions were so large that we took doggie bags home. They wrapped the containers in brown bags tied with green ribbons. So cute.
Jorge, the owner, was very gracious. Hector, our waiter had us laughing and smiling during our entire visit. One advantage of being there during the slow season was that he had more time to spend with us. During high season reservations are imperative and must be made days ahead of time. Even then, if you have reservations for later in the evening, there may be a wait. But, it's well worth the wait.
Just as we were ready to leave, there was a torrential downpour. We tried to wait it out, but realized there was no end in sight. It was only three blocks down hill to our place so we decided to venture out on our own. They told us it was too dangerous to walk on on the wet cobblestones with our shoes and suggested we go barefoot. They gave us plastic bags for our shoes, purses and doggy bags. We had a ball walking back home on those cobblestones, drenched in the torrential downpour, laughing the entire way. My sister exclaimed #kidsagain and #don'tgiveadamn! We were soaked. It was so much fun. I'm sure the huge, strong margarita helped with our mood!
We will definitely be back in April for more than only one meal! Mucho Gracias Jorge and Hector!
