The Korean Fine Dining experience at Joseon is a culinary adventure that left my taste buds dancing and my senses overwhelmed with delight. The service at Joseon is impeccable. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, and they're more than happy to guide you through your dining choices. From the moment we sat down, we were treated like royalty. Our water glasses were never empty, and dishes arrived at the perfect pace, allowing us to savor each course. The highlight of our evening was, of course, the food. Chef Debbie Lee dedication to authentic Korean flavors and their commitment to using the finest ingredients shone through in every dish. The menu is thoughtfully curated, offering a balance of traditional Korean favorites and innovative creations.

I didn’t think it was going to be a lot of food but boy was I full by the end of it. It was nice seeing familiar dishes transformed into more refined plates. Everything was tasty! I’m glad we tried it out.

Best Korean Food w/ Modern Twist by TV personality Debbie Lee (Morimoto's Sushi Master)! The presentation is beautiful with personal touch and tribute to Chef Debbie's Northern Korean roots. They use fine ingredients. The taste was amazing taste with a pop of crispy accent texture in some dishes. I love Debbie's rendition of Korean seafood. It was a night full of culinary surprise for the taste buds. Chef Debbie keeps striving for perfection in her culinary creativity. Joseon is my new Korean comfort food. 5-course menu $79. 7-course menu $99. It's a good deal. The add-ons were delicious. I highly recommend the 7-course menu and add-ons. Come with more people so you can try everything. Reservations are made via Resy. Valet $12 or very limited street parking (read signs). I am excited for their extension. Can't wait to come back again!

I had the pleasure of dining at Joseon and WOW!! What an amazing meal. First off, the vibes of the restaurant. Stunning tall ceilings, calm aesthetic but not sterile, and a peaceful buzz to it. The food was absolutely incredible- everything we ate was phenomenal and I’m pretty sure we had everything on the menu. Bossam and bone marrow are a must for a big group!! Cocktails are strong and tasty also. Service is really great as well. Chef Debbie came out to say hi, and all of the servers were super friendly and attentive. Joseon is upscale, cozy, and a must try restaurant in LA. This is the perfect spot for a special occasion, date night, or night out with friends.

If I could give a 6 star or more rating, I will certainly do it. We have a party of 4 friends in the restaurant for dinner last night. The dining experience was amazing. We had a 5 course set dinner plus a bottle of wine to share. One of us had a vegan set dinner too. The restaurant is cozy and relaxing; the food is far beyond my expectations. The master chef Debbie is an food artist presenting us the beautiful experience of her interpretation of Asian and American fusion food. Incredible.. a must try... One more recommendation: it is difficult to find a street parking spot in this busy restaurant strip. There is a valet parking right in front of the restaurant.. just take it...

The amazing craft of omakase by master chef Debbie Lee. Was a very delicious full course that also takes in health. Their signature garlic shrimp is simply outstanding! The price range and service is one I’d want to go to go back two to three times every month. Thank you so much for everything, Joseon team.

Joseon is the best upscale Korean restaurant in LA right now. I can't say enough good things about this place. We opted for the 7 course tasting menu with the beverage pair and bone marrow. Each dish was beautifully plated. The dishes included tradition favorites like juk, mandu and tteok all prepared in imaginative and exciting ways. Chef Debbie Lee does a fantastic job of balancing new concepts and high end presentation while retaining all the elements of traditional Korean cooking and avoiding the pitfalls that often result in unmemorable homogenous fusion cuisine. The drink selection of course heavily favors soju, maekolli and rice wines but there is a decent selection of wine and cocktails to chose from. The optional drink pairing includes a little of everything and complimented each course very nicely. Service is efficient friendly and does a great job of maintaining a fun casual environment. I would definitely love to visit Joseon again. Reservations are recommended. Valet parking available right out front.

Literally one of the best meals I’ve ever had. They even have a 7 course vegan option (but have to call beforehand to let the chef know), but everything tasted amazing. The ambiance was incredible; we got to meet the chef after - she’s so talented. This is the place where Michelin stars come quickly - and then the crowds will too. Cannot emphasize enough how much I’d recommend this place.

My partner took me to Joseon for their 5 course menu and we had a great experience. I really appreciated the fusion flavors of the dishes as they were innovative and played with unique flavor while still holding true to the traditional dishes they were inspired by. My favorite dishes of the night were the Galbee Jjim and the Wagyu Beef Tartare. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great. Not too loud and soft lighting with a good view of people walking along Sunset. Great date spot! I appreciated that the staff gave details on each dish and were kind and attentive throughout our visit. Overall, a great experience. We will be going back again soon!

Joseon is an excellent choice for a great date night in Silverlake, Los Angeles. The "less is more" ambiance is favorable, the music is not loud so conversations come easier, the staff is attentive, and the food is pretty special. The name gives the impression of a golden era of Korean dining, and an experience designed for royalty, and we definitely felt that throughout the night. My partner and I started with a cocktail/mocktail because they sounded unique (and they were). We ordered a 7 course and a 5 course, thinking that we could try to get a good variety when there were two options for some of the courses. We opted for wine flight pairing as well, and were surprised how well selected the options were. I'd recommend that a party of 2 orders the same number of courses, however, because we didn't always both get a course. We shared about everything though, so it ended up being fine. Also, knowing the process to expect for a 7 course meal will make a difference in how you appreciate the timing. Courses are spaced out by anywhere from 15-25 minutes, so expect to be in the restaurant for at least 2-2/12 hours, or more. We were at our table for just short of 3 hours, but we also talked with the staff a bit while enjoying an espresso with dessert. This kind of timing, in this context, is a good thing, because it means that the kitchen doesn't have a bunch of plates being pre-made then waiting to be delivered by wait staff who also have other tables to attend to. The chef freshly prepares each dish for your specific table, and then it's presented immediately. That makes for a top quality dining experience, where each of these dishes was not only a work of art but also presented for enjoyment, just as the chef and their team intends. We enjoyed the 7 courses! I think our favorite was the Braised Stew with Sea Bass, and the Rice Cake dish with Zucchini Blossom. The Sea Trout Tartare was also a nice way to start the meal. The aromas coming off many of those dishes was memorable. The dessert they brought wasn't on the menu, and came complementary for us, I don't know if they typically charge for dessert. One was some fresh cantaloupe with a special sweet sauce (they called it a palate cleanser), and one was an amazing rice pudding creme brûlée, it was an outstanding way to finish our evening. We will be back, next time we'll make it a double date!

Hands down the WORST dining experience so far in 2024. The last half of the meal was just painful and I couldn't wait to get out of here. Joseon appeared on my yelp feed promising a "Royal Court Dining Reimagined". Great concept but poor execution. Staffing requires critical training if they want to portray themselves as a fine dining experience. And sadly their food is nothing unique or mind blowing for the pricey tag. I had made a reservation on the Resy app. When we arrived there was an option for Valet parking, or being veterans in the area, we knew we can find some street parking in the nearby area. Just be careful for signs where permits are required after a certain hour. We arrived at 7pm, and didn't leave until 10 pm since their courses are spaced out at an agonizingly slow pace for being tiny bite size items. You had options for the 5 course ($79/person) or the 7 course ($99/person). Naturally I opted for the 7 courses. There were so dishes for add-ons but they were out of the oysters I would have wanted. Here are the details of our meal: - Complimentary Starter: Japchae wrapped in seaweed and fried. The noodles inside were hard from the prep method. - Juk/Porridge: Lotus root porridge with azuki bean. A bit sweet for my liking and more watery in texture than porridge. - Hoe/Hwe/Tartare: Choice of a wagyu beef or a sea trout where my boyfriend and I boy opted for the wagyu beef. It was accompanied by 2 huge seaweed crackers for the tiny tiny amount of tartare that only fit well on one of those crackers. The taste was decent but the proportion was off. - Jeon/Egg Battered: Already cold by the time it got to me. Not impressed. - Wang Mandu/Royal Dumpling: Sauce came on the side and poured over table side to be fancy. However when picked up my ginger pork mandu I saw that it was busted on the bottom and burnt. It was dry and hard from being over nuked. Not royal worthy at all. - Gui/BBQ: Choice of pork belly or duck breast in which we both opted for the duck breast. It was served ssamm style. I was excited to see it on a perilla leaf. However it was less exciting for my tastebuds upon actually taking a bit. Nothing tasty and crave-worthy. When I eat gui ssam style I would normally want to eat more and more. - Jjim/Braised Stew: Choice of seabass or galbee jjim, in which we both opted for the galbee jjim. I feel like the name is off cause it didn't come out like a stew. It was more like a piece of meat over not enough potato smear. It had too much soy flavor and it was not as tender as another piece of beef I just had earlier in the week. They did not give me a knife or fork for this so I expect it to be tender enough when I touch it with the spoon or chopstick the tables came default with. - Tteok/Guksu/Noodle/Rice: Choice of a kalguksu or tteokboki, in which we got one of each since we weren't feeling so strongly about either. The kalguksu was definitely the better of the two but already getting cold by the time it got to us, which is gross for clam. The tteokboki was especially disappointing since the rice cakes were tough and hard unlike the soft and tasty ones I am used to even at the cheapy restaurants. - Dessert: An overcooked lumpy crème brulee. The top of my boyfriend's crème brulee was overly torched to a blackness too. The consistency was so off and unappetizing, but taste-wise it was the best thing I ate all night... by compare. Pacing was soooooooooo agonizingly slow. What makes time go by so SLOW is an awful obnoxious table seated next to you. I understand that the business can't control how terrible the patrons were, but they can mitigate the pains by common sense seating. Despite a fairly empty seating area where they could have sat folks with an empty table apart, they sat these awful people next to us who were soooooo loud we could hear their conversation or shenanigans. The kids were voicing how miserable at the pace and how much they hated it too. I get they can't control all customers but as a fine dining restaurant, you are to a level responsible for the dining experience. While I was here, I also saw our waiter spill hot soup on an old lady. The same serve would also set down the plate where I felt like... the artistic side was in the blind spot and I would rotate my plate around. Not very thoughtful. He was also really not refined. Please train your staff better. This experience was like torture for me. NOT a good date night restaurant if it wastes so much time I just want to leave and fall asleep after. If you want a true royal dining experience, go to Kyung Bok Kung in Buena Park. Plenty more food and better quality if you plan on spending the same amount of money.

I've been wanting to check out this place for some time. Unfortunately, our experience was quite a disappointment. The service was decent. But the food was lackluster. Besides lacking innovation the dishes were in general overly salty. In fact, both the juk (porridge) and the ttokbokki with wagyu beef were so salty that I cringed at first taste. The wang mandu seemed simply like a deep fried gyoza with dry meat filling. Both the pork belly and duck gui (bbq) tasted burnt and the scallions inside were tough and super chewy. The crispy skin sea bass was the best dish of the meal albeit the fish was slightly overcooked. The sikhye cream brûlée tasted like simple brûlée with rice. There was no taste of sikhye (Korean sweet rice drink) I was hoping this would be an inexpensive Junsik; but it was not to be.

I wanted to love Joseon in Silverlake, CA because I've stalked them for a while. It's touts to serve reimagined Korean Royal Court Dining and the presentation might have eluded to that but the flavors missed the mark where I wished there was a lil more with each course. The "lil more" translates as wish I had a a small bowl rice because my protein was too rich and salty or this course could use a lil more salt or more texture could have been added. I was let down and I am surprised others can't see it. But I do have to brag about their dessert: Scorched Rice Creme Brûlée is what saved my Joseon Dining Experience ! The creme brûlée was a classic recipe but the that caramelized sugar scorched rice was absolutely out of this world! Service and ambiance was great but the type of food, can be found elsewhere. My biggest issue is balance. Dishes are not cohesive to bring through a Korean Royal Court Dining. I want to give it another chance but the drive and the price point is not worth it to me.

Very nice setting and exotic dishes. We ordered the 7-course dinning set. They also have a vegan option for my vegan friend which is a plus. Manager and chief came out a few times to check with the customers. The display / plating can literally tell you that they put heart into every dish. I am ready to try out a different menu next time in the summer.

Ugh I wanted to love this place so badly. But as a Korean, it was hard. The aesthetics on point, very minimalistic and chic. Servers were very attentive, too. We did the 7 course, and I don't know. They were all so fusion-y, and the flavors didn't really land with me. I loved the presentation. But the flavors were lack luster. Specifically, the galbi jjim was too sweet and dried out. The pork belly was too smoky. I wanted some kimchi soup as the base to the cod not tomato-y soup. The bone marrow (add on) was my fav, the nurungji crème brûlée also amazing. At the end of the day, I think I just had too much of an expectation that it would taste more like the original flavor and didn't really like the fusion/creative take on the dish. And I just wanted some rice, kimchi and legit galbi jjim or pork belly. So take my review with a grain of salt. But it was an interesting take on upscale Korean food. Def haven't tried anything like it before.

If you come here make sure you have a lot of time to spare. They let you know from the beginning that the dinner will take two hours long. My favorite dish here was the beef taretare so make sure you opt for that. This is a omakase style restaraunt. There are two options $79 and $99 course options, we opted for the $99 option. Everything that came out was pretty good except maybe the hand cut noodles which was a little bit too salty for all of us that ordered it. They were able to accommodate a party of 15. If you have a chance you should also opt for their outdoor patio dining, as it is beautifully decorated on their patio.

Read about this place online and really wanted to try it out. LA is the Mecca of Korean food in the US and this place definitely deserves its recognition in the LA Korean food scene. We opted for the 5 course meal and it was plenty of food but I'd definitely want to try the 7 course meal next time. We enjoyed all the dishes, with the juk and galbi jjim standing out the most for me. We also enjoyed the bottle of makgeolli that we got with our meal. It's a pretty big restaurant and the service was great. I will definitely be back.

Really great experience for my belated birthday :) Make a reservation on Resy. They have valet parking for $12 but if you circle the neighborhood, you can get free street parking. Just read the signs to make sure you can park there Inside is super clean and modern. The lighting is dim with some hip hop music. Service is fantastic. We picked the 7 course meal with one set of alcohol pairing. The plating and presentation is beautiful. There were some dishes I liked more than others but it was an experience to enjoy them all. I think my favorites were the crudo, cod, and dessert. The 7 course meal took about 2 hours. Food came out at a good speed. Also, they were very generous with the alcohol pairings. The 7 course meal came with 6 drinks and they were not sample size either. If you're a couple, I highly recommend to get one drink pairing and share it :) So glad I got to try this :)

Basically an overpriced "fine dining" experience catered towards non-Korean folks where the portions and flavor profile are pretty lackluster and almost mediocre. Felt ripped off. Seeing ONE piece of fried dumpling in some soup base was pretty hilarious as a Korean. ONE piece of jeon... Also the ONE piece of kimari served as an appetizer... chef gets inspiration from the frozen food section? Felt more like finger food appetiziers throughout the meal.. Call that fine dining lol For $100 7 course meal, that lasted for 2.5 hrs, you almost feel like you get full from drinking a lot of water instead of the meal itself. There can be a lot more potential being that it's located in Silverlake and venue... hope to see this place revamp!

Really good and had some really unique items on their 7 course menu. The beverage pairings were all delicious as well. Fav was the tartare, squash blossom with tofu inside, the cod and oxtail gori jjim with the crispy rice was delicious, and the dessert was also a great end to menu. All the other courses were good but felt like it needed a somethin' somethin' more to be a banger. I wish the presentation of each course wasn't all the same, it felt pretty redundant having so many items look the same. Parking is on the streets.

The menu is per person prefixed 5 or 7 course options both under $100 per person. Everything is so unique and I can definitely taste the Korean influences in every dish. Parking is valet right in front or you can try to find street parking but good luck with that. The food is quality you can taste, everything is so fresh and light but the protein dishes are booommbbbb. I got this fried duck dish, the skin was so crispy it was perfection on a plate and honestly I don't like duck but this dish was tender and flavorful. Their dishes are so unique, my dessert was a crème brûlée nurungji which is usually a savory burnt rice soup Koreans eat to end the meal but for dessert?! What!? The service is in point, always clearing dishes right as im done and bringing the next course right after there is no waiting around hungry here. Love this place, definitely recommend and definitely planning to return.

Though LA has a huge Korean food scene, it lacks fine dining options in the space. Joseon is one of the very few in LA and there aren't many options in LA (if any) where you can eat a 7-course tasting menu for $100 AND feel full afterwards(!!!). That kind of value alone should warrant a visit but thankfully, the food was mostly amazing too. I was blown away by the sea bass- the flavors were so good and fish was cooked to tender perfection. I did not like the fried dumpling soup or any of the noodle dishes (overly salty) but the rest of the dishes were fine. It was a pretty long dinner (3 hours) as many diners have pointed out. Overall, I enjoyed the meal and I'd definitely be back for another season's menu if the price remains around this level.

Excellent service and a great time. Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and we were treated with the most amazing service. Food was interesting and delicious. Alcohol pairing was generous and fun. Our group had the best time! Highly recommend!

Really beautiful korean dinner in the old causita space. If theres an option, i would choose the patio for cute outdoor lights and greenery. Theres heaters and a fire if you get cold. Service was hit or miss. Our waiter was really nice but not the best at explaining what each dish was. He was kind of lackluster and seemed to forget a few ingredients. For our dessert, he didnt explain it alltogether, just put down the plate and left. Maybe bc it got busier but still, was expecting more. Timing was sooooooooo slow. We ordered the 7 course meal and it took us over 2.5 hours. Im not sure why there needed to be 15+ min gaps between each course. It definitely felt like we were twiddling our thumbs at times. Also we went at 630 and it wasnt busy at all so not sure why it was slow, but definitely picked up speed towards 8 when the restaurant was busier. Finally, the food was beautiful. It was so delicious and interesting. My favorite was the cod, it was cooked to perfection with crispy skin on top. The broth was wow and i loved the daikon puree. I only wish the green onions were sliced evenly and a few more of them to cut the richness of the cod. My next fav is the squash blossoms, the stuffing was amazing as wall as the eggplant tahini. So yummy. My least liked dish was the milk noodles. I simply didnt understand it, texturally it was really grainy. The vegetables seemed like an afterthought. I loved the pickled fresno chiles tho. I would def recommend this meal and would come back again!

solid fine dining Korean restaurant. Glad they're opening more of these in LA (although sad that Kinn is closing as well). It's bold and adventurous - likely will be a challenge to please the tough Silverlake and LA crowd but the bar is cool and the interior is amazing so I wish them success. Food overall was pretty good. My favorite was the squash blossom.

Joseon was the best meal I had in LA by far!! If you are visiting or a local, you should make time to visit Joseon. Whimsical, stunning, and delicious dishes by an incredibly talented chef in a beautiful restaurant. The meal was well priced for what you get - $80 for a pri fixe 5 course meal in LA. What more can you ask for? I'm so glad I was able to try Joseon while Visitng LA. We went for the 5 course tasting which was filling though we plan to try the 7 course menu next time. $40 for the drink pairing was a great deal and the plum wine and cocktails were delicious. Extra points for the incredible service and beautiful decor.

Ambiance was nice....food was mehh and took foreverrrrr to come out. My wife and I had the 7 course. The Jok was great was great tho....everything else was pretty mediocre. Each dish took us 2 mins to eat but took them around 30 mins to come out. Expect to be here for 3 hours lol If you read all of the others reviews, most of the other people feel the same. Time spent actually eating 15 mins.... Time spent waiting at the restaurant for the food to come out 2 hours +

The food: delicious. The vibes: impeccable. The staff: lovely. Each plate on my very reasonably priced 7 course tasting menu took me out of Los Angeles & into a space of flavor I've never really experienced before; and mind you, I consider myself an experienced Korean food fan, but turns out there's still new & exciting items served to me that can utterly blow my mind. 5/5 in my books buddy! hard to find entrance as there is no sign lol! got 7 course meal and it was delectable (one soup was kind of salty though, no problem as I forgot to take creatine today anyway). be warned the valet charges a heinous $12 and the urinal in bathroom is hard to flush! other than that, restaurant is splendid!

We dined at Joseon in Silver Lake last week and had an amazing night. Chef Debbie Lee's tasting menu is a testament to her culinary expertise and passion for Royal Korean cuisine. The combination of traditional flavors modern techniques, along with the impeccable service and inviting ambiance, makes Joseon a must visit for food enthusiasts and those seeking a memorable dining experience.

Came here with my wife for a date night after hearing great things. The ambiance was minimalistic, which was very nice. We both tried the course meal and were blown away by the visual appearance and taste of every dish. The food came out in a good, timely manner without feeling too long. James, the manager, came by to check up on how we were doing, which was a nice touch. I only wish they were open more days!!! Overall, everything from start to finish was perfect 10/10.

I had a very disappointing experience here last night. The food was solid but the restaurant doesn't have it's timing down. We had the 7 course meal but it took 3 hours. The awkward extended gaps between courses really ruined the meal I found myself and other diners constantly craning our necks looking around wondering when we would get our next dish. There was no apology or acknowledgement of this either by the restaurant. I've had 3 hour meals before but not with a 7 course meal. that's on average 25 mins a dish that takes 3 mins to consume.

The ambience was very nice and the food was overall very good. The cocktails were also good. The issues we had were that it was really cold in the restaurant and the food came out so slowly. It was just me and my husband and we were there for over 2 hours for the 7 course meal. There was too long of a wait in between courses. Portions were also a bit small. We weren't hungry when we left but I imagine some people might still be hungry with the long wait in between courses. We won't return mainly because we don't go out much since having kids and would prefer to explore other restaurants rather than return to this one.

I've been wanting to try out this modern Korean-inspired restaurant for some time and finally made it. Chef Debbie definitely did not disappoint and delivers an exceptional dining experience. The ambiance is modern and inviting, and the convenience of valet is always a plus in the hustling and bustling Silverlake district. The restaurant offers to two tasting menus (5 and 7 courses) along with shareable add-ons for the party, which allows you the flexibility to customize depending on how hungry you are. We opted for the 5 course meal with 2 add on dishes for our table. Each dish stands out with unique flavors, the dishes that really stand out are the waygu oxtail bone marrow bursting with rich flavors paired with Korean pancakes that are soft and delightfully chewy at the same time. Another one is their deconstructed pimento black cod with daikon purée and shallots, it's so good that it literally melts in my mouth. They also offer some interesting and well-crafted cocktails which compliments the meal quite well. Look, kids might be the toughest judge sometimes, it's hard to please a kid's taste bud, but my 10 year old finished a 5 course meal on his own and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not to mention the kitchen is super accommodating with his nut allergy and they even offer mocktails to pair with his meal, making the dining experience memorable. Service was very attentive as well. We will be back.

The food here is amazinnnggg. Every course that came out tasted fresh, nothing was sitting out or took too long. The plating was gorgeous, truly an experience. The service was smooth and friendly, the general manager even came to the table to check on us. I recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a unique spot and authentic Korean cuisine!

Our fisrt dining experience at Joseon (Royal Korean cuisine) was fantastic and pleasurable! Each dish of the 5-course meal was delicious as well as beautiful in presentation! So enjoyable! Thank you, Chef Debbie! Learned from Chef Debbie that the crème brûlée was inspired by her mom's cooking! It's so yummy and unique! The service was great too!! It's a little difficult for us to find the restaurant and we missed the valet the first time we drove by it. Now we know the exact location... :)

The Korean Fine Dining experience at Joseon is a culinary adventure that left my taste buds dancing and my senses overwhelmed with delight. The service at Joseon is impeccable. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, and they're more than happy to guide you through your dining choices. From the moment we sat down, we were treated like royalty. Our water glasses were never empty, and dishes arrived at the perfect pace, allowing us to savor each course. The highlight of our evening was, of course, the food. Chef Debbie Lee dedication to authentic Korean flavors and their commitment to using the finest ingredients shone through in every dish. The menu is thoughtfully curated, offering a balance of traditional Korean favorites and innovative creations.

I want to support this restaurant but it was an overly long 3 hour meal and I didn't think the dishes on their own were standouts. The pacing of the food was just off. I hope the restaurant can transition to a different format to make this a better experience for customers.

With so many KBBQ spots in KTown, its kinda nice to see something new and exciting come into view. Say hello to Joseon - a modern interpretation of Royal Court Dining from Korea's Joseon Dynasty (circa 1392). Chef Debbie Lee has put together an incredible five and seven course tasting menu that everyone should experience. From the Wagyu Beef Tartar with Seaweed Crackers to the Wang Mandu with Ginger Pork Rillette to the Wagyu Beef Tongue and the Braised Oxtail Stew. Its all extraordinary. Coupled with the fantastic drink pairings, what you end up with is one of the most special and unique dining experiences in Los Angeles. I cant wait to come back again.

First time visit with my family to celebrate my birthday. There were some food that were hit and misses. Highlight was the beef tartare and the dessert. Delicious ! All the others were still pretty good but nothing of amazing. I know one dish we had was lacking salt. A huge concern of the place was the pacing. We started our meal at 6:15, didn't leave the restaurant until 9:30. I wish the timing was due to us enjoying and talking but it was more so we were waiting for food in between courses. Also customer service end in terms of reaching someone to inquire about our reservations was a struggle. Never got hold of anyone and we had to figure it out ourselves. Nevertheless, could see this as a potential place to come back but not as this time.

Our time at Joseon was nothing short of amazing, offering a delightful journey into modern Korean fine dining. We opted for the 7-course meal and decided to try the bone marrow add-on, a decision we didn't regret. Out of the array of dishes, four truly stole the spotlight: the Wagyu Beef Tartar, the Wagyu Oxtail, the Black Cod, and the bone marrow. They were all extraordinary! Each dish brought its own unique and delicious flavor that made our overall experience truly memorable. The opportunity to savor these exceptional dishes at Joseon was a treat, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic culinary adventure in modern Korean cuisine.

Was super excited to try this place out based on some of the photos and reviews, but unfortunately we were fairly disappointed in the end. We ordered 2x the 7 course $99 menu between two people so we could try both options for every course, so we ate everything but the add-ons I would summarise the 7 course menu as: style over substance. The presentation was very high level and made you want to take a picture of everything, but then the experience was extremely lacklustre. The flavour of the main course rib was skin-deep, outside was marinaded nicely but inside was just chewy and bland. The other option was a confusing pan fried fish with tomato flavours and avocado. It was fine but seemed out of place in the menu. The other smaller courses were mixed, some were great (pork belly and radish was awesome), some were just plain questionable (the single, bland fried dumpling in a flavourless broth?), and several just seemed like filler items... various purées in little bowls that were fine, and the closer before dessert was a soup that was nice but for $12 you could buy an equivalent or better soup from any Korean restaurant in LA. The rice pudding crème brûlée was nice, if a little burnt/overtorched. Some people prefer it that way so I guess we can put that down to personal preference. Overall it was fun to try, but I don't think we'd go back or even recommend it.

Nice ambience. Food was mediocre. The service was sooooo slow. At one point, we waited 40 minutes between two courses. I wanted to just leave...

Overall, a solid night out. Favorite part was the dessert, least memorable was the mandu. I recommend getting the bossam add-on. Portions are in the smaller side. The time in between courses was probably the biggest detractor from the experience - it took way too long and was much more inconsistent for courses to come out compared to other places I've been to.

My wife and I had a great dinner at Joseon with friends last weekend. We were greeted at the door immediately by the hostess and we sat in the dining room, a very clean/modern feel. Everyone at the table tried one of their house special cocktails, the one I had with bourbon was really nice and unlike anything I've had before. The rest of the cocktails and the bar looked intriguing, but that's for another night when I'm not driving home. We started off with a bone marrow appetizer that was fantastic. It was very rich and was topped with a chimichurri like sauce and served with deliciously buttery crackers. We both enjoyed the 7-course menu and we ordered different items for most courses so we were both able to share and try more of the dishes. We're both familiar with Korean food, but nothing like the elevated dishes we had here. The waiter described all of the menu options clearly and he was very patient with our questions. We enjoyed everything and we each had our own favorites. My wife's favorites were the royal dumplings and the wagyu oxtail. I tried both of those too and thought they were both delicious, but my favorites were the black cod, and the prawns. We both got the rice cake soup as the last course and it was a nice finish to the meal. Overall we really enjoyed the ambiance, the food, and drink. Parking is limited, but there's valet parking right outside the door which is very convenient. Highly recommended!

I have tried many Korean dishes and Joseon has given me a very different experience from the soft but beautiful ambience of the restaurant to the unbelievably delicious food! Service is attentive to the point that my glass of water was never empty! The location is at the heart of LA! The style, the taste, the color, the fragrance and to presentation of each dish gives me the best experience!! You gotta try it yourself!
