Fantastic service and quality at this old school butcher shop on the northwest side. After hearing about it for years, glad I finally made it in. Tried many specialties, great hot Italian and Barese sausage, tasty capicola and corned beef. Will be back for steaks to put on the grill. Top notch!!

Wonderful quality. Great experience and customer service. Great place for weekly meats or for something special. EVERYTHING I buy from them tastes delicious. And they understand how to cut meat for what you're cooking. Their homemade sausages are great and a nice Italian grocery selection.

Great butcher! I have used this shop for several parties. Easter I get whole lambs for roasting on a spit. Every time the quality of the meat is fantastic. This past weekend I got a whole pig and chickens for a pig roast and it was delicious! I highly recommend

I visited today for the first time, and it was amazing! Sal was very helpful explaining and answering questions, everything we got was very high quality, and it’s clear they value and love what they do. The barese sausage (we grilled it and rubbed with lemon) was my favorite so far. Will definitely be back! Thank you for the wonderful experience.

I heard so much about this butcher and was so happy to go. I pointed out 2 ribeye steaks and kept looking around the store. They charged me and I came home to find one ribeye and one NY cut. So either their guy made a mistake or they figured I don’t know the difference. I know the difference I just trust people to do the right thing so my guess is they figured I was clueless. I will never go back no matter what. I’m not sure how they have done business this long but maybe they just take care of their own.

Really good meat! And should I say how kind they’ve been to me… helped me to chose steak within my budget and overall it was a pleasure. Definitely coming back!

Next door neighbors and Charles the Dog came over for a socially distanced patio meal this evening featuring delicious natural casing Joseph's hot dogs, my never going to be famous Giardiniera/Mustard and Lexington Red Slaw. A good time was had by all, Charles the Dog in particular. Bonus Joseph's porterhouse pics from a week ago.

This is hands-down the best butcher around! Their quality can’t be beat and their service is beyond compare. Amazing homemade sausages and fantastic deli meats will keep you coming back, and they are my go-to for special holiday meals - Prime Rib, Leg of Lamb, Crown Roast of Pork - all delicious! And their Porterhouse Steaks are simply out of this world. I brought 4 of them up to Michigan to make for my father for Father’s Day and we all were in heaven!

Long - standing prime meat market that has great customer service. Staff took the time out to explain the quality of their meats. Their house-made frozen food items like chili, burgers etc are delicious. Freshly baked breads and other grocery products are available. Everything I have bought from them is top notch, best in the city. Coming back for more, thanks! BTW- Thur Fri Sat they have fresh seafood

The place where I've ordered a turkey for a few years had a weird, unclear deadline for their Thanksgiving orders so this year I needed to quickly find another place (or try). Had I ordered from the place I usually have, I would have had to pay a shipping fee of $35 whether I had it shipped to my home or to the business. I hadn't heard of Joseph's before but decided to take a chance. I placed my order by phone the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and they took it with no problem, no extra charges; they also took the bone out for me. I was a bit nervous just because I hadn't tried this place before, and if there was a problem there wouldn't be much chance to fix it or easily switch gears. But I needn't have worried. While it would be helpful if they decided whether they were going to use numbers or just a line (I pulled a number upon entering, but they weren't advancing the numbers and instead just taking people who said they were next), I was in and out within ten minutes. The employees were helpful. Like many butchers, they have more than just the meat but it's not a grocery store (though I found I could have gotten the baguette that I made a separate stop to procure). The turkey breast I bought was at least half of what it would have cost at the place I've used in the past. With that kind of savings, paying their 4% credit card fee was fine by me (pay cash to save yourself the fee). Parking is easy; it's Dunning, not Lake View. Will definitely come back, possibly sooner than later since I've been wanting to try making a pot roast and I expect they'd have the right cut of beef for that. I won't bother with the butcher I used to go to with this one so nearby.

These guys are exactly what you're looking for if you want great quality meat and knowledgeable staff available locally in the Dunning neighborhood. You won't get this service in the big grocery store meat departments. This place is a welcome throw back to what butchers are supposed to be. I had been here before I moved to the area and even more often now that I'm close by. Highly recommended!

The Place to go to buy meat, poultry homemade sausages and cold cuts. The services is always amazing and I have never had a bad cut of meat.

Seriously the best Italian sausage in Chicago! The best people wowork there and you feel like your walking into someone's kitchen. I highly recommend the Italian sausage. Definitely a CChicago classic!

Very nice Butcher Shop. Everyone there was very helpful and they had everything I needed. The place was very clean and inviting. The meat was delicious. I'm planning on going back soon for more.

Ben is amazing. He's so kind and gave great and thoughtful advice for my pasta sauce. He suggested other cuts of meat over neck bones because I was concerned about the bits and pieces of bones in my sauce. The food is amazing too.

I'm here 3-4 times a month. They have the best pork chops for grilling, awesome sausages, and the bacon is amazing.

Visited Joseph's for the first time yesterday. We planned to get Italian beef sandwiches but found out you buy the beef (and they give you gravy) and the rolls and make it at home. The sandwich was the best Italian beef I've ever had. Ben was so nice and spent time explaining what pot roast we should get based on where it's cut from. We will definitely be back for that pot roast and other items. It's a small shop chocked full of goodies with A+ customer service.

I can't say enough about this place as every time I go it's amazing and every time I cook something I bought there it's one of the best things I've ever made. Not only are the meats great there, they also have an amazing selection, which kind of surprised me the first time I walked in. In addition to the meat counters, they have a ton of products on sale in their small but well stocked grocery section to help supplement the supplies you'd typically head to a butcher shop to buy. The workers are also always friendly and helpful. If there's a cut of meat you're not quite sure if you want or you're not sure you know how to cook well, don't be afraid to ask the people working there. As for my favorites: skirt steak, super thin sandwich steaks, the very tasty and reasonably priced ground beef (if you get multiple pounds, ask for them separated in 1 pound bags), the frozen chicken Kiev's, and of course the sweet Italian sausage can go great with orzo and spinach and halved grape tomatoes. Amazing place and I can't wait to go back.

I have been intending to shop here for some time. Today was the day. Angelo was pleasant and knowledgeable. Their products all looked great. I got some 1 1/2" .New York strips, some of their hot dogs, some of their breakfast sausages, a beef shank, and some of their sole filets stuffed with scallops and crabmeat. Also, a sample of their mild Italian sausage. Everything was high quality delivered with the best service. Highly recommend.

I needed a special cut of meat to make Rouladen. After calling several butcher shops who couldn't help I found Joseph's. Ben was so knowledgeable and knew just what we needed. He cut the top round to perfection and even pounded it down to 1/16th inch for us. Such great service! Their selection is fresh and amazing. Lastly, the price was much less than I expected. Excellent quality, service and price! We'll be back.

Hadn't been there in many years and it was a pleasure to go there! Butcher made pork tenderloin patties that were outstanding! Nice, clean store with a good variety. Friendly, courteous customer service! I'll be back!

Joseph's Finest Meats is great! We bought ossobuchi and they were delicious and very fairly priced. Even my Italian mom agrees. Everyone working at Joseph's is knowledgeable and kind.

I was absolutely blown away by the level of customer service I received from Sal and Ben at Joseph's Finest Meats. Their kindness and compassion deserves to be spotlighted. After my dog was diagnosed with a rare and terminal cancer, his appetite took a dive. In efforts to make his last weeks as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, I reached out to Joseph's for some feeding recommendations, to combat the pickiness. Sal was so compassionate and Ben was beyond accommodating and informative. Joseph's Finest Meats went above and beyond to make a heartbreaking situation a little easier and they have a customer for life.

I wanted a Hoka Turkey from Kauffman Farms for Thanksgiving and the Farm recommended Joseph's. I ordered in advance and got exactly what I wanted. They were set up for customers with a tent outside and controlled entry into the store. The shop itself is a small, clean neighborhood butcher shop and deli. The staff was all exceedingly friendly and polite. Also picked up skirt steak and fresh polish sausages because c'mon, I don't come here every day. This place is a Chicago Classic. Out of the way, but worth it.

I feel blessed to have an amazing butcher shop so close to me. Joseph's fulfills my family and I's meat cravings. We have a hankering for steak quite often and it's nice to be able to pop in here for some quality ribeye and t-bone. We've also picked up some dry-aged stuff several times and they're always crowd pleasers. Everyone's always super pleasant and helpful, and the service is pretty efficient. Aside from meats, seafood, and cheeses, they also carry some kitchen staples like seasonings, rice, gravy and more. During my recent visit, I also saw some artisanal products like Mike's hot honey and premium maple syrup!

Recently purchased porterhouse steaks and let me tell you they were so tender and delicious! We will definitely be back to grab more meat from them! And they gave us breakfast sausages which were also great as well! It's definitely worth it it's like eating the same steaks in the steak houses but at home and even better.

Just made 4 of the ribeye for a bears game and 1 Costco ribeye. By far the Costco ribeye was juicier , more tender , these 1 inch thick steaks from Joseph don't cut it. all cooked on a Kamado Joe. 5-0 was the vote Costco to Josephs meat for ribeye

We enjoyed the most tender pork chops from Joseph's Finest Meats. The quality was better than any 5star restaurant. Great service, exceptional meats.

I was in Chicago for my annual ASCO meetings and dinner parties and went to Joseph's for the meats. This place is totally wonderful. They have a huge selection of Prime Meats, ready made frozen burgers, sauces and more. I will be going back there next year as they are the best I have found in Chicago.

Stumbled on this page while going through Yelp's places for Thanksgiving stuff and thought I had already reviewed this place - surprised that I hadn't! Simply great food here be it from the butcher or deli side. Tried some Vidalia Italian Sausage awhile back - outstanding! Great brats here too. My go-to for fresh cut homemade roast beef... none of that Boars Head stuff here - they make it themselves. Helpful staff and fair prices as well. Thumbs up!

I came here once before with my buddy. He is Sicilian and use to own a restaurant. He turned me on to their Italian sausage. They were delicious. I've been wanting to come back and happened to be passing by so I stopped in and got some more of their perfectly seasoned hot Italian sausage. Their steaks look remarkable. I will be back to try some of them in the near future. Joseph's is an old school Italian butcher shop that has the finest quality prime aged beef, pork and sausages. For everyday or those special occasions Joseph's has it. The staff is very friendly and helpful. If there is something that you would like to order in advance you can call and they will have it ready when you arrive.

I now know how to have a steak feast at home, without being interrupted by the waiter, dealing with noise from the adjacent table, and paying for a triple-digit price! Joseph's will satisfy your addiction to meat. Yes, I mean a wide variety of meat that one can imagine, such as steak, sausages, lunch meat, livers, salami, and much more. I took Mama J. to Joseph's this morning, while the heavy rain was still in session. Joseph's also has a small grocery section, just in case you need something else to go with your "Finest meats." If you haven't had USDA Prime quality meat, I beg you to take a trip to Joseph's so that you can experience the "heaven on earth." We paid $53 and some change for three (3), freakin'-thick strips of N.Y. steak. I devoured one (1) of the three (3) on my own this evening. Yes, it was amazing. I will be returning for sausages that Daddy J. has requested for next time. That will be the sole reason for taking the Addison, a.k.a. the mysterious #152, bus. By the way, the stop to get off is Nordica.

This place is outstanding. First visit and I am definitely returning. Told everybody they must go. Absolutely delicious.

Top notch old time Deli, I mean they make their own sausage right there on site!! this is a dying trade... you can actually watch them cutting meats I'll go to the deli to get my meat from Joe's before I get it from a big box store that's been frozen etc.. place your order ahead of time and it will be ready to pick up.. very helpful and patient with their customers! It's like a Happy family!!

This place continues to be a great place to get fresh quality meat. They have great customer service and are a small family owned business which I feel good about supporting.

Five star indeed!!!! Tried their Top Prime Sirloin and it was the BOMB!!! So tender, juicy and it melts in your mouth. My family had tried sirloin from other places but since we had Joseph's meat, we are definitely coming back for more. Not only the meat were high quality but the staff were friendly and they take their time to tend to each customer.

I have to bump up my original review to five stars. I just made my 2nd visit and picked up some N.Y .strip steaks to try out on my new grill. The fellow working there who took care of me cut my steaks to my desired (1+1/2") thickness and trimmed off the excess fat beautifully. They were absolutely fantastic off of the grill . Such a big hit in my house. Also, I want to repeat on the friendly service both times I've been here. Makes a difference. These fellows take pride in their jobs and providing customer service. I've gone to this place occasionally to get meat bones for my dog. My most recent visit was yesterday to by meat and bones for my German Shepherd. I was helped by the owner Ben who was so nice. He was so helpful and really understood what I was looking for and made sure I was getting what I wanted by asking me what specific size of cuts for the meat and bones for my dog; and offered info and recommendations that I never knew. Overall it was just a great experience. I have tried a few of their items and very good. Looking forward to trying all their meats. Lifelong customer.

Joseph's Finest Meats is the best butcher and meat shops you can find. I always go here each time I needed meats for dinner or even just for a stock at home. The store has everything that you are looking for in a certain meat shop. The store is super clean and well organized. They have an amazing fresh selection of meats in different cuts just whatever you like. I always buy their boneless ribeye. The workers in here are super friendly you can ask them every time if you have something to ask or to say cause they also are very helpful. The other good thing about this store is that they also have some selection of kitchen essentials like seasonings and the likes just whatever you might need in cooking the meat. Having best fair prices products and excellent service. If you did not know about them then you are missing a lot. I cannot wait to shop in here again. Highly recommended.

Excellent butcher shop. These guys are artists that happen to own knives. This place has always been pretty hopping with hungry carnivores, but whoever is running the cash register always takes the time to answere everyone of my questions. No matter how silly. Worth the drive and worth every penny they charge. Which, by the way, is very reasonable. Last two times I was there the guys asked me how my last meal from there turned out. They remembered exactly what I bought and how I prepared it, despite that months have gone by. To me, that's customer service and community awareness on a whole different level.

Wonderful independent meat market. Ben and his staff are always diligent,polite, knowledgeable, and happy to help with any selection I may have. This is the Only place in the area with Prime beef and at an excellent value. I recommend the sirloin patties, skirt steak or even the Bone-in Sirloin.

I have been coming to this off and on for 20 years and they never fail to disappoint . they have premade dishes and they also have an amazing selection of steaks and burgers,pork chops a-you name it they have it. The quality of the red meat is so fantastic I always have a great steak when I buy from Joseph's.

This is exactly what I was picturing when I was picturing a neighborhood meat market. Small, quaint and friendly. You had your neighbor folks talking to the butcher, just shooting the sh$&. This was the only market that had fat bacon strips, which says something foe their selection.
