Joy Chicago

This is an Ecuadorian & American restaurant, some popular dishes taken from both cultures. The restaurant's atmosphere is neutral. Music is mostly of great Spanish rock at a volume above conversational level. The portions of food are on the generous side, served warm, but just a bit bland. Waitress was attentive and swift, although she forgot to bring some basic knowledge items while serving. Restrooms are neat and clean. There's room for improvement in the food department, this my score. Btw, they also serve breakfast, which I'll need to try out one day.

This place has great staff, and a total 80s music theme. So into it. I got the chorizo burrito, it was great, had avocado, chorizo, eggs, cheese. And it came with these well fried potatoes. My partner got the special which entailed rice and beans, salad, steaks, and eggs. It was also good. They have some kids options, my child got the pancakes and loved them too. They also gave us two complimentary sangria’s.

We were in the area for haircut appts and wanted to eat lunch first, figured we'd try this place out and we were so glad we did! The beef empanada was excellent, as was the chicken parmesan, but the carne asada was my favorite, and the bacon wrapped dates were just an amazing finish to the meal! Good size portions too! There was a little bit of a language barrier with the server, and the music was a bit loud for our taste but otherwise an awesome experience!

I had the Chuleta Grileada (Pork Chop). It came with beans, rice, french fries, fried plantain, and a small salad. The beans were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The white rice was a pleasant surprise. It looks plain but is far from it. The yellow sauce had a nice kick but didn't linger in the mouth. The pork chop is bone in, charred to a lovely balance of sweet and smokey. The meat around the edges was a bit dry (to be expected when grilled), but the meat nearest the bone was very moist. The french fries weren't very crispy, but my daughter and I enjoyed them. Everything was devoured. We finished with the flan! I loved how friendly the staff is, they are very welcoming. The portions are large, and the price is fair.

Ramone is the best! I really loved his service! I was outside looking at the menu on the glass when he came out to speak to me. He was so nice that's why I decided to order food with them. This place is new so there wasn't much action going on. The restaurant is very clean and maybe I'll dine in one day. I really liked my Chicken Parmesan. I feel like the chicken was seasoned very well. I also love the portion size. Additionally, my Mango Agua Fresca was delicious and it wasn't too sweet. I like that, maybe y'all won't My only critique is that the pasta sauce is a little acidic, maybe add some sugar to balance it. Other than that, I will be returning.

Joy Chicago is one of my favorite hidden gems in the neighborhood! The food is amazing, and the staff are really nice. I really love that they have flags for every country inside, and the patio is great to sit at when the weather is nice. The empandas are the best, hands down! The owner/chef has decades of experience at some of Chicago's best restaurants and it shows! If you want some joy in Chicago, I highly recommend you come to Joy Chicago.

We happened upon Joy for their opening event, and are so glad that they opened in the neighborhood! They didn't have the full menu yet, but what they did have was tasty, fresh and in very generous portions - neither of us could finish an entree on our own! The owner personally stopped by our table to check in on us, and our server (Ramon) was excellent. Looking forward to stopping by again to try the full menu.

Pretty mid food. At least what I ordered. Best thing was the maduro w cheese and guava /guayaba. The churrasco? I see the business decisions clearly. LOADED me up with rice (low cost) and used quite subpar cut of skirt steak. Full of veins and worms 🪱 (parasites?). Hard inedible veins in beef. Skin or cuero of steak wasn't cut off..amateurs.

We ordered the chicken Parmesan sandwich, turkey club, and bacon wrapped dates. Everything was truly delicious! I would order everything we had again. This family-run restaurant had excellent service. It's yet another amazing small business of Logan Square.

Enjoyed sitting outside! Good food, will be back and it's walking distance from my home. So happy to see Armitage building up with new local new businesses

Great Logan Square neighborhood spot for someone who works a lot and needs help from someone else who can make them dinner. Lots of easy favorites. I've had a couple pasta dishes, some chicken and some steak meals and they are prepared well, good price and I get a few servings out of them. They have a salad that is almost greek, delicious. They also have a really good strawberry agua fresca, super n/a friendly. The staff are kind and service was good.

We stopped here for lunch adter kandin in Chicago and dropping our luggage off at the airbnb. We were starving and initially a bit skeptical, but went in because it was one of the only options close by. It turned out to be a great start to our trip - everything was so good and the owner welcomes everyone as if they're old friends. I ordered the beyond burger, and was surprised to find that it comes with two beyond patties making it a bigger meal than I expected. The complimentary chips and house made salsas were also delicious. For my fellow vegetarians, they also have a vegetarian paella and a couple other veggie options!

First time at Joy Chicago and definitely won't be the last! Ramon, one of the owners, welcomed us in and from the first moment treated us like we were friends visiting his home. He had such good, positive energy, it created such a fun atmosphere. The complimentary chips were freshly fried and the dips were awesome (the yellow one has a kick but is delish!) We had the Joy Burger and fries, and the Seco de carne special (a beef in stew sauce). We both agreed the burger was the best burger we've had in Logan, and I begged Ramon to add the beef stew dish to the regular menu cuz I'd come back for that in a heartbeat! We are so overJOYed that we found our new fave neighborhood spot!!

Been there twice, both for carryout. First time was Ok, ordered the steak fettucine. The steak was well-seasoned and the dinner came with a side salad and bread. I returned recently and ordered the chicken fettucine. The waiter did not say a word to me. He did not acknowledge me at all, as he simply looked at me and waited for me to order. He didn't even say anything after I provided a tip for the carryout. I would have appreciated a greeting, and a thank you would have been nice, no such luck. As for the food, the order did not come with the salad and bread, as stated on the menu. The fettucine was extremely bland and did not come with any ground pepper or parmesan cheese. Overall, a weird experience in the restaurant (not a very welcoming place and a silent and obviously irritated waiter), the food was tasteless and didn't come with everything it was supposed to come with.

I noticed this place on a walk and came in for lunch. I got the special, chicken sliders, which were excellent. The staff here are super friendly and did everything to make me feel comfortable. The inside is really cute as well with tons of vibrant colors and they decorate a bit for Halloween which is nice.
