J's Bar Bistro

J's Bar Bistro is the feature bar on the 2nd floor of The Royal Garden in TST East. Opening hours are 12pm to 1am (weekdays) and 3pm to 1am (weekends). J's offers both indoor and a small section of outdoor seating. They have a food menu and range of wine, beer, cocktails and spirits and offer happy hour drink specials each day from 4-8pm. During a recent visit we ordered a glass of chardonnay and local beer, both of which were fine. Prices are high compared to area bars but with drink promotions they end up being fairly reasonable by comparison. Service during the time of our visit was stretched, the bar was rather full and too few waitstaff busily trying their best to cater to everyone. That was our only complaint on the evening. Overall, a nice venue but slow service detracted from an otherwise decent hotel bar experience. Would potentially return if/when J's isn't crowded.

The afternoon tea was perfect. Not the super expensive type, but had everything you would expect from a set. The vide inside was spot on as the music, furniture, lighting was perfect.

I was there for a drink only while waiting for dinner nearby. The place is nicely decorated and cozy. They had a good range of cocktails and wine to choose from but i would expect more choices for beer. Ordered one “it’s complicated”, it looked very nice with romantic purple colour from the butterfly pea. But due to its name i actually expected its taste is more complicated. It’s nice and mild for lady. There was a wall full of drawings and painting that was great for photos, however there were people sitting there enjoying the afternoon tea so i didn’t take photos it’s a pity. The staff were very friendly too. The afternoon tea set looked great and think i will come try it later.

We spent our last 2 nights in Hong Kong here. They had a live band on both nights. The food and drinks were both pretty good although they are not cheap. The staff were very nice and they remembered us from the night before. Would come again if ever in the area

6Apr19: I found the Afternoon tea set similar to Xmas set commended by another user. The tea is not that impressive, although the presentation for the set is good. Since we are three people, we can order 1.5 sets (the set is for 2). The lavender egg roll and pomegranate egg roll is good and you can smell strong lavender. The carb bread is ok, but I’m wondering whether crab inside. The cream brûlée is a salty one which has lobster inside. The salty egg macaroon just good for balancing the sweet of macaroon. As Hong Kong people may feel macaroon is too sweet for us.

Quality wine ! Tried the Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay ! Currently with buy one get one free promotion ! Great way to happy hour! Speak easy vibe !

We had a good gathering here for almost 3 hours. Waiters are very friendly, food are pretty decent and cocktails are highlight of the night!

Value happy hour deals with J’s. Very good value of money for the food n drinks there. Vibes are good, it’s a good choice for relaxing evening.
