Denver’s 14 Essential Thai Restaurants Right Now | Eater Denver

"Go funky with soy, fish sauce, and chili paste or go home at this Federal Boulevard standby, whose regulars swear by the country pad Thai; deep, dark pad se eyw; and tangy, smoky prik pow. The tom kha, buoyant with mushrooms and citrusy herbs in a coconut-milk broth, is another crowd favorite." - Ruth Tobias

Stopped in on a whim and was super happy I did. The food was better than expected. The flavoring was on point for a common Thai dish which made it stand out from other places I have tried. I also felt that the ingredients were fresh. I will definitely be back to try out other dishes. The service was great but it did take a little longer to get the food than I was expecting Being that it's a small restaurant, it's okay. It was worth the wait. Highly recommend trying them out if you are in the area.

Google
Wow. If you want an authentic Thai restaurant, this is the spot. The flavors were incredible . We ordered the tom kha soup and we were very pleased . Pad Thai noodles were soo surprisingly thing , it was like angel hair pasta . First time ever had such thin noodles . Could really feel and taste the quality . We did garlic pepper entire with beef and nothing was left on the plate . All the dishes we had were delicious. Service was extremely kind and friendly. The ambiance it self is no thrills , kinda like diner vibe but thats what all the best places look like, they concentrate on the food not the environment.

The best Thai food I ever had in the states! Delicious, home made, fresh and authentic ingredients. The owner is very nice and welcoming. Economic and feeds large groups.

Google
The food is very delicious. I had Tom Kha and noodles with Thai chili ( can't recall the name). Wow, they are very tasty. You should try it yourself. The lady is very friendly. Will come back for more.

Google
One of my favorite authentic Thai restaurant in Denver Colorado. Small local mom & pop Asian restaurant vibe. Very nice service but food may take some time as it's usually only two people working (one in the kitchen and one in dining). The grass noodle salad is not on the menu anymore, but you might be able to ask for it 😉 very delicious pad thai, Tom yum soup, and green curry! Literally everything I ever had from the restaurant is very delicious! I strongly recommend this restaurant. I also strongly recommend the Thai iced coffee.

Google
My fave Thai place in all of Denver. Chicken is so tasty. Pad Thai is perfectly balanced between sweet and savory. Not too peanutty, but enough. Drunken noodles are delicious. The curries are great. Haven’t had a bad thing.

Google
I really wanted to like this place. Multiple people have recommended it. This is probably the worst rice I've gotten at an Asian restaurant. It was soggy, gelatinous, and way over cooked. The curry was fine, but pretty generic, and portions were small. I ordered it hot (but not Thai hot), and it was not very spicy. The couple were very friendly, but I would not go back. SUVIPA, just down the street is a safer bet in my opinion.

I used to come here all the time when I first just moved to the states. I recently made it back there a couple days ago and realized how good the food was and had to come back there again tonight. I got Pad Kee Mao, Pad Gra Pow, Pad Lad Na Noodles, and Slide Beef Noodles Soup. They were all so good! The service was also great too. The owner of the restaurant was so polite and sweet. This restaurant was definitely one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Colorado.

Yelp
Love to find little Mom and Pop shops all over! This place was AMAZING. The service is top notch, despite the woman handling phones and tables. The portions are huge and everything tasted great. I especially love a place where the Thai tea actually taste like black tea and not all sugar. Please support them they're amazing!

Yelp
What we eating for Super Bowl Sunday Funday? Looks like it's Thai! And what a powerhouse hole in the wall it is. Definitely a must try in Denver for sure. First of all, if you are not eating in, call your order ahead. Wait time ranges from 30-90 minutes! So plan accordingly. TOFU GREEN CURRY has quite a kick but rich and deep in flavor. Love the addition of Napa cabbage! PAPAYA SALAD is nothing to write home about - your standard shredded papaya and carrots. PAD SEE EW noodles are delicious and flavorful and a bomb of umami. PAD THAI WOON SEN is the knockout of the pack - do not fail to order this. THAI FRIED RICE is perfection - flavored well and I would in the top ten of Thai dishes I've tried in Denver area. I could eat this with wood chips. It's that flavorful. Skip the MANGO STICKY RICE - the fresh mangos available in winter are too tart for the dish!

Yelp
Tom yum soup, Tom kha soup, prik pow noodles. AMAZING. So flavorful. Medium spice was enough spice for me!

Yelp
Best Thai food in town. Been a regular since 2004 and the authentic taste keeps me coming though I moved away from downtown Denver. No thai in denver place can compete with the flavor. Great service, family oriented ambiance.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were looking for some cheap eats to go in Denver and after reading some raving reviews about this place, we had to check it out. We are so so happy we did! Not being from around here, we called the restaurant a bit lost and the woman on the phone was incredibly nice and helpful. Amazing service!! It's located in a strip mall between Pho Duy and Pizza Hut, very unassuming but packs so much flavor. Pad thai - Authentic, complex, comforting, and so much food!! Crab & cream cheese wontons - Crispy, flavorful, creamy - everything I want in a crab rangoon. Is the dipping sauce homemade? Elite pairing. We were so surprised to find authentic and delicious Thai food out here being so spoiled by the California food scene. We also got a thai tea, and everything came out to be $24 including tip. If you're looking to support local family businesses that know how to cook, this place is a must try!

Yelp
J's Noodles is run by two individuals, and it is open for only a couple of hours for each meal period (lunch, dinner). I dined for dinner and had to wait an hour for food, but they were upfront about how busy the kitchen was and the wait. Overall, I think their food is super authentic, very well priced, AND of quality. The challenge is going to be if they are able to take your order for the day. I'd definitely go back for the tom yum and pad kee mow.

Yelp
I recently dined at this restaurant, and patience is definitely a virtue here. Our first entree took a painstaking 50 minutes to arrive. While the food was decent, the interminable wait left me questioning the experience. We opted for the curry, but it was surprisingly lacking in ingredients. The fried fish was tasty, but, disappointingly, it only came with small bits of accompanying vegetables. This place is not on my repeat visit list.

Cody B.

Yelp
The BEST Thai food I have had. I've been searching for the best Thai food in the area, and J's Noodles surpasses them all. I come here roughly once a week. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait, but it is always worth it.

Yelp
Don't go in expecting quick service.... I've never been here so I was excited to try something new! We arrived around 530PM on a Sunday. Only two other tables were filled with people. One host/waitress and one cook. Very small dinning area but cozy. It took a while for the waitress to come to us but once she did we all knew what we wanted to order. We got crab cheese wontons for the table, two drinks, and three entrees. It took one hour just to get our cheese wontons..... It looked like they only serve one table at a time... not every organized or efficient if you ask me. The wontons were delicious though! Another 30mins went by and the entrees came out. I got the Pad Se Eyw (Thick noodles stir fired with broccoli and egg and my choice of meet (beef)). I thought he portion size was a little on the small side. I've had the Pad Se Eyw before at another location and it was the same price for a larger portion size. The flavor was good. The temperature of the food was good. The timing of everything was not the best. If they were a little quicker I would defiantly consider going back sometime soon. My advise, plan ahead before coming here. Prepare to wait a while.

Yelp
Prince is a great guy an cooks delicious food . I actually own my own hood cleaning business and we clean Js noodles an it's very very clean, 100% recommend eating here .
google avatar

Alexanria J.

Yelp
My favorite Thai food restaurant in Denver!! It's an authentic local mom and pop thai restaurant. Thai iced coffee is a must have drink. The best pad thai and their clear noodle salad is so refreshing.
google avatar

Jalisa S.

Yelp
This place is SOOOO good. A lot of people talk about authentic Thai food around here but my family is from Sattahip and I haven't had anything even close to home since I've moved here.......that first bite.....every tastebud said YAAAAAS B![$@. I highly recommend.
google avatar

Eileen T.

Yelp
The red curry was fire. So good and gives you a decent amount of rice to cool down. I got a spice level 4 and might knock it down to a 3 next time.

Michelle P.

Yelp
The food is absolutely amazing. So flavorful. We got the bbq chicken and oh yes! It's so moist and flavorful and the hot sauce I need by the gallon. We also got the chicken fried rice which makes me never want to eat Chinese food again. As well as the pad Thai. The sauce on the pad Thai is so flavorful without being oily. Best food we've had in a while.

Yelp
J's is a quintessential mom-and-pop shop experience packaged in delicious Thai wrapping. Our go-to is their pad see eyw and pineapple fried rice: the noodles have such a satisfying, bouncy texture and you really taste the wok's flames with every bite (Uncle Roger would be impressed!). Not to say everything is charred, but you can absolutely tell everything is cooked on a flame. Grab yourself a cup of tom yum soup and the three flavor fish to pair with your entree and you got a family meal that hits all of your taste buds. It's a rare Thai experience that almost gives off street food vibes as opposed to a fancy dine-in spot. Lots of Thai restaurants out there dress up their dishes too much "for the 'gram," but these guys know what they're all about. Everything is served like you're at home, and you can't help but feel a sense of comfort. As a mom-and-pop shop, service will not be the fastest. At times, you will even see their children at the corner table. Exercise patience and you will surely be rewarded with bang on Thai food, and you'll be hard pressed to find much better in the same area.

Yelp
Food was incredible. I got the spicy fried rice with brown rice, tofu, and extra veggies. My partner got the Massaman curry with tofu and extra veggies. Everything was perfect. Veggies were crisp but soft. Rice was perfectly cooked. Everything was ready exactly when they said it would be.

John S.

Yelp
Im sorry that I have to write such a poor review. I saw all the stars and thought the food would be great. We ordered chicken satay and some other dishes to go. The satay was cold and cut up in pieces. The Pineapple rice: Inedible. Ive had Pineapple rice many other times and theres usually a separation in the food items mixed together. This was just one overcooked overmixed mess. the curries were not good. No depth of flavor. The Panang which should have had alot of green beans and other veggies had ONLY onion and red bell pepper. NOT acceptable. too much chicken and not enough flavor. VERY disappointing. We will not return.

Salena S.

Yelp
Authentic and decently priced. There's only one chef and one waitress so it can take a while, but they let you know how long it will take and it is always worth the wait. Best Thai food in Denver for sure.

Yelp
Came here with my girlfriend on a Sunday morning ready to have lunch. We got here at 11:55am(Opens@12pm) and we were the first ones in this cute restaurant. We ordered pan fried dumplings , crab rangoons, chicken drunken noodles, chicken pineapple fried rice and mango sticky rice and everything was so yummy! Everything was seasoned really well and their customer service was excellent. This is our go to spot now.

Yelp
OMG!!! J's Noodles are phenomenal!!! I had some Thai noodles in Dublin and was craving them back home in Denver. So I used Yelp (hurrah!) to look up the recommendations. J's did not disappoint, we dined in, it's a small shop in a strip mall, the service was warm and prompt. We ordered drunken noodles and the Bangkok noodles which have a yellow curry sauce. SO GOOD!! I think anything you order is fantastic but I could eat the Bangkok noodles for days. And the portions are large and priced very reasonable. Definitely a keeper and I will be back. Thank you for satisfying such a high standard!

David T.

Yelp
One of the best meals we've had in Denver. Pad Thai is probably the best I've ever had. Wonderful service, too. My girlfriend also thought it was fantastic. Will be back and lucky to have such a great restaurant in Denver,

Molly E.

Yelp
Best most authentic fresh Thai food outside of Thailand and the best family runs this hole in the wall gem.
google avatar

Rebekah W.

Yelp
Delicious food! Very thankful that they were open Christmas day. It is my family tradition to eat Thai food and it's quite hard to find a tasty place open on the holiday. All of the food was so flavorful with excellent portion sizes for reasonable prices. The people were so kind and our food was made on time. We will be returning!
google avatar

Yelp
Best cheap eats 2012 city search Best of lunch 1990 westword If the above two doesn't make you stop and look I dont know about you! Forget about the price but since I'm already talking about J's lemme tell you. It's soo cheap! Like $6 cheap each lunch plate. No it's not a huge plate but it is soo good! This is a real hole in the wall place. Down Federal where all the good food are. The lone female staff was so nice and polite. I do like this place. They have all the stuff that I like plus more! I ordered the Musamun Curry in Beef. Damn good! They have parking. Thx god! So check out their menu and see how much $ less they charge.

Peter C.

Yelp
The best, most authentic food I've had outside of Thailand: prepared by the chef owner; warm and friendly service by the owner/wife of the chef; basic, cozy and welcome space. This not fancy. This is excellent food prepared and served by a lovely couple.
google avatar

Jay V.

Yelp
Best thai in Colorado hands down. Yuppies stay away. It's in a strip mall on federal. Has not been updated in already 15 years. Family owned. Great service. Authentic food I drive 40 minutes to eat here in special occasions.
google avatar

Marcy V.

Yelp
Excellent service, excellent food every time. Family run business. You cannot beat this place for Thai food in or near Denver.
google avatar

Craig E.

Yelp
How have I not reviewed the best Thai restaurant in Denver, this is a personal outrage and I apologize for my oversight on this one team. Classic location in a strip mall, terrifying parking lot (you'll get it when you go), and a very nondescript unit that is very easy to miss. The restaurant only has six or seven tables so be prepared to wait on busy nights. Our staples are the three flavor fish and country pad Thai, both fantastic! Their curries are amazing and a little spicy even when requesting mild but delicious for sure. The staff is always incredibly friendly even when they're slammed.
google avatar

Sasha T.

Yelp
What a gem! We were glad to see them doing well, because it's deserved. We ordered the regular and Country Pad Thai (veggies, medium heat) and each was delicious. They have a grilled and less typical flavor profile, but whatever J's is doing, they're doing right. We also ordered the Tom Yum soup (tofu, medium spice) and it was stellar. We missed the typical tomatoes, but the flavor was layered and *delicious*. J's is easily one of the finest Thai places in the metro area. Yum!
google avatar

Sierra B.

Yelp
I almost didn't write a review because this place has long wait times already, but it was so good I feel like I owe them that. I had the drunken noodles with tofu, cream cheese wontons, and Tom Kha soup. Tom Kha is one of my favorite things to eat and most places don't get much flavor to their broth. This Tom Kha, let me tell you, was as good as the Tom Kha soup I have eaten in Bangkok. The broth has such a depth of flavor! Drunken noodles were super good, a tad oily but still delicious. Also she listened to me when I said I like it on milder side and it wasn't very spicy which I really appreciate. Most places if I ask for a little spice it becomes inedible. I also had cream cheese wontons which were really good too. I wish I tried the egg rolls too but I thought this was enough food for one person. If you can be patient and understand it will take a while because it's a really small restaurant, it will absolutely be worth your while. Best thai food I've eaten in Colorado, 10/10 DELICIOUS!
google avatar

Becky N.

Yelp
The great reviews made us excited to try J's. We were disappointed. The papaya salad had a weird fishy taste & smell. We didn't eat it. The drunken noodles were our favorite. The curries had good flavor but the green curry was a weird color of green & really watery. Almost like it had green food coloring in it.
google avatar

Natalia N.

Yelp
The pineapple friend rice is bombastic. There's a ton of Thai places on federal but this is one of my go to's 100%

Marlo Jordan O.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place, the food and the service is incredible! I would recommend the pad Thai, papaya salad, and the Tom Yum
google avatar

Greg W.

Yelp
Great little spot on Federal, J Star might be favorite sit down Thai spot in Denver. Great service and the mild spice was just right. Would recommend the Tom Kha as it was the best thing I had here. The Bangkok noodles are a good option for the less adventurous because noodles with beef/veggies can never steer you wrong.
google avatar

Bethany K.

Yelp
I have been coming here for years, and they are absolutely my favorite restaurant. I have never tried a dish here that isn't absolutely phenomenal. It is a family owned business, and everyone who works there is absolutely lovely as well. Their food is all amazing, but I would especially recommend the Pad Pri King, Pad See Ew, and the Kao Pad.

Julianna E.

Yelp
I'm honestly really upset that this couldn't be a better review. After going through the reviews and craving amazing, authentic Thai food I thought this would be great. I ordered for pick up- chicken satay, crab Rangoons, Panang curry and chicken pad Thai. They didn't give me crab rangoons, instead they gave me an order of cold spring rolls which was upsetting bc I was really in the mood for crab Rangoons. There was so much black pepper in my pad Thai it was hard to swallow and just unenjoyable. I've literally never been able to spot black pepper in my pad Thai before and the second I opened the container it just reeked of pepper and was covered in it. The chicken satay peanut "sauce" was literally like someone took the last of a jar of peanut butter and mixed it with water and put it in a container. The curry was basically just coconut milk with a layer of oil on top. Definitely won't be eating here again, sadly.
google avatar

Anudari E.

Yelp
Long time Denver establishment and continues to do solid business. Their lunch price was very affordable and service was fast. Flavor is authentic. Put beef in my tom ka when I asked for chicken but it's all good otherwise!
google avatar

Maxwell U.

Yelp
This place is a gem. Every dish I have had has been good. The soups are amazing. Best tom kha soup in the state
google avatar

Adrienne L.

Yelp
Medium level Pineapple fried rice with double chicken. Mango sticky rice. You can't go wrong with those orders. My fiancé loves their chicken pad Thai as well. Support small businesses like this one gives me a feel good factor when I show up to pick up my food and see a hardworking family grinding it out! My new favorite place for Thai food!
google avatar

Bryan A.

Yelp
Best Thai Food in all of Colorado for sure!!! Friendly service and quality fresh ingredients. This is a must go spot if you love Thai food and you live in the Denver area!
google avatar

Gina H.

Yelp
Love thia place!! Drunken Noodles are great, as are the crab wontons, coconut aoup and more Excellent aervice. Delectable food

Yareli D.

Yelp
They make really good authentic Thai food. Prince the owner and his wife are great and they make you feel comfortable.
google avatar

Holly Z.

Yelp
My favorite thai restaurant. I love supporting local family business. Although the wait time might be slow but its definitely worth it! Parking lot is q but tight. However you can do street parking as well. I usually get medium spice level but its stills not spicy enough for the pad thai. For appetizer, I'd definitely recommend the chicken satay or the mun tod(its a catfish dish).
google avatar

Brittny M.

Yelp
Literally the best Thai food I've ever had in Denver. The people who work here are so nice too. The curry, the noodle dishes, and the wonton soup are all amazing.
google avatar

Cooper S.

Yelp
Best Pad Thai I have ever had.... it's not overly sweet and oily like most pad thais... I am now dying to get the Country Pad Thai. My friend got the drunken noodles which she said were the best she's every had. She also recommended the dumplings and we both loved the cream cheese wontons. Wonderful people too!
google avatar

Steph J.

Yelp
I'm going to have to try this place again, because I'm not sure. I placed an order for my friends and I after our moving day, and the verdict was that the pineapple fried rice and the noodle dishes we ordered were really good (pad prik king and drunken noodles). The basil chicken was awfulllll. Hardly any basil to be seen. It's so NOT what they'd serve you on any street corner in Thailand. It tasted like bad Chinese food. My hubs and I spent some time in Thailand earlier this year, and we frankly haven't gone out to eat or get Thai food since, mainly because we've been cooking our own at home. So, mixed reviews on the selections we ordered. Will have to try again and perhaps order some different stuff to get a better feel for their offerings. On the plus side, ordering for pickup was fairly quick.
google avatar

Kelly H.

Yelp
This is easily the best Thai food in the area for such a good price! Less than $9 for DELICIOUS pad see ew. We came around 7:30 and the place was empty so we got our food unbelievably quick. Now, at 8:10, almost every table is full. Beers are $3.25. This dinner was spectacular! Also, they aren't messing around with the spice (which I appreciate). My boyfriend thought he could conquer the red curry at "Thai hot" and the curry won.
google avatar

Morgan O.

Yelp
Strong takeout option It's a solid 8 on a scale of 10. The fried rice and the green curry I got were damn tasty and reminded me of the authentic stuff I had in Koh Samui
google avatar

Wilmarie G.

Yelp
We tried the chicken Pad See Ew and the chicken Prik Lo Noodles.... both were delicious!

Haley G.

Yelp
Incredible, fresh homemade Thai food. Hands down the best in Denver. Do not miss this place!!! And if it's slow coming out, I promise it's worth every minute you wait.
