Oh my gosh, the noodles, dumplings, and pan friend buns here are absolutely delicious! The service is super friendly and attentive, and even though the place isn’t in a super touristy area, the food quality and value are totally worth the stop.

Google
This place was busy. The food was very good and the service was good. The price is average. I think this place is overlooked by people because there are a lot of noodle places in this area. The noodles here are freshly made and the wonton that I had was full of flavor that you want in a dumpling. I think what could have been better was the beef in the noodle could have been cooked a little longer to make it more tender. But the noodles and dumpling were spot on. I hope they can improve on the beef because that would be important to my family and me to enjoy our noodle dishes.

I recently discovered this place with my friend. The food was pretty good the first time I was there, but the service was so-so, which was kind of expected in this area. Because the food tasted pretty good, I decided to take my grandma and aunt here for lunch. We ordered simmered noodle soup, mung bean jelly, and pan-fried buns. There was a long wait between each of the dishes, so we ended up eating each dish one by one, which is not typical for Chinese food. We were almost done with the mung bean jelly before the simmered noodle soup was served, and the pan-fried buns were still not there when we almost finished the simmered noodle. When we finally saw the buns, the waiter/owner served them to a table that came later than us but ordered the same dish. We thought maybe he forgot, so we went to ask him. He was very unapologetic and rude about it. He said, "What do you want me to do about it?" That just ruined our day, which was supposed to be a fun outing with my 90-year-old grandma. No matter how good the food tastes, it's not worth it. I understand that people make mistakes in placing orders sometimes, so I'm not mad about that. It's his attitude, which was just terrible. I don't see them staying in business for long if they don't change how they treat customers. This could have been a four or five-star review, but now it's a one. No food is good enough to ruin your mood for.

Google
This is definitely my definition of a "Mom N'Pop" little S-hole in the wall kinda joint!  I've been coming here for years since one of my good high-school friends introduced me to this hidden gem.  This family owned business has weathered through the economic storms of the past and present.  I am grateful that they are still in business and still serving good nothern Chinese/Taiwanese cuisine at a fair price.  My two must haves here on the menu is the beef fried dumplings and their house made hand made beef noodle soup with chunks of beed stew and tendon.  The flavors are authentic and very tasty.  I have tried several other dishes on their menu and they have never  disappointed.  I will always come back and support this business for as long as they remain open. P.S. Their customer service may not be superb but that's typical of Asian places like these.  I come for the good food not the quality of the people serving it.

Google
Wow great hole in the wall. Kids were hungry and couldn't think of a place to go. Found this place searching for dumplings and gave it a go. Everyone was good: mushu hand cut noodles, 3 ingredients pan fried dumplings, fish boiled dumplings, beef cold dish, and Dan dan noodles. My favorite was the 3 ingredient dumplings and dan dan noodles. The mushu noodles is what the waitress recommended and didn't disappoint either. I definitely will come back. Also to vindicate this location, there's a newspaper clipping written by Mr Jonathan Gold about this place as well. They also sell frozen dumplings too!

December 2021 - Party of 4, no wait. This is a family run establishment and the food is always good! Food/Pricing - For the quantity and tasty-ness, the price for the food is a steal!!! My family and I always come here and walk out with plenty of leftovers!! Service/Ambiance - Service is good. The place is small, maybe about 5 tables so it's easy to flag someone down! Highly recommend dining in or ordering takeout from here!!!

Google
This place had a few strong points, and a weak point. Overall good enough to go back, but there are things I would stay away from. The hand shaved noodles with preserved cabbage and pork was good. Noodle had great texture, but the overall flavor was on the light side. Would order again with a big scoop of chili oil. The side dishes, such as seaweed and cucumbers, were very tasty. The steamed meat bun were a bit of a disappointment. The dough was a bit underdone and mushy, and the filling was not very flavorful. I would stay away from that.

Google
Beef noodle soup - tender beef, noodles meh, soup meh. Lamb noodle soup is a bit better. Everything tasted fine, certainly passable. Prices are very reasonable. Service was also very slow.

Yelp
JTYH is located in a small plaza next to Starbucks with its own parking lot. This Mom and Pop run restaurant is a hidden gem in the SGV. If you are looking for Chinese food, definitely come and check this place out. We actually came to this restaurant twice in a span of 2 weeks, so this review will cover both times. The service was quick and the owners were very nice and courteous. The ambiance felt like a cozy sit down restaurant. During our first visit, we ordered pan fried dumplings with pork, beef stewed noodle soup with knife cut noodles, and don don noodles with hand pulled noodles. Just a quick tip - some noodle dishes allow you to choose between two types of noodles. One type is the knife cut noodles, which is a larger, thicker, and chewier type of noodle. The other type of noodle is the hand pulled noodle, which is your thin noodles. The pan fried dumplings with pork were your typical fried dumplings and were okay. The beef stewed noodle soup was pretty good. My wife enjoyed the knife cut noodles and the soupy base. One thing that I noticed with this dish was that there were a good amount of pickled vegetables within the broth, which my wife also enjoyed. The Dan Dan noodles with hand pulled noodles was definitely the star of the show. Personally, I enjoyed the thin noodles much more than the thicker knife cut noodles. The Dan Dan noodles come with spicy sauce base and peanuts, a combination that was very tasty. Make sure you mix it well before you eat it! On our second visit, we ordered the pan-fried bun with pork, the Mooshu fried noodles, and, of course, the Dan Dan noodles again! The small order of pan fried bun with pork came with six buns. The buns were fried to a nice crisp and it had a generous amount of pork filling. The bread was a bit doughy, though, but definitely worth a try. The Mushu fried noodles were delicious. I really enjoyed the egg mixed with vegetables and shredded pork pieces that were on top of the noodles. Lastly, we ordered the Dan Dan noodles again because they're so Dan good! Overall, we would definitely return to try the other items on the menu!

Yelp
Ohhh they dont deserve any stars, got 2 fried noodles to go yesterday and the shrimp and fish were rot! Yes rotten as cannot consume! And the vegetables were raw. They should close this place seriously! They most horrible fried noodles ever.

Yelp
After a couple of years of coming here, I realized I haven't written a review for them yet. Shameful. I discovered them a while back when I was across the street at a dentist's office. Looked them up in Yelp and brought my family back to try them out, and immediately liked them. They specialize in handmade noodles, especially knife cut. Though there are several in the SGV, JTYH seems to have that great chewy texture ( or Q ) Add some high heat wok flavor and you got yourself some very tasty noodles. Their soup noodles are also very good, with the same chewy consistency. Besides noodles, they also have handmade dumplings. On a few occasions when we walked in, they're at a table by the kitchen making them. I've tried their stir fried noodles, soup noodles, scallion pancakes, beef rolls and other items, and I've always leave with a happy and full stomach. JTYH is the place to go for some authentic handmade noodles. I hate to say they're a hidden gem but I've only seen them busy once. They share a small parking lot with a meat market next door but usually there's no problem finding a spot. Check their hours on Yelp because they take a break in the afternoons. It's a little out of the way for me to eat here but I'd gladly take the drive then go somewhere that's closer, but not as good. Plus, I love supporting small family businesses.

Yelp
Came here in a Sunday before it closed for the afternoon. Ordered the lamb noodle soup, beef rolls and three ingredient dumplings. The dumplings were pretty good with the vinegar and chili oil. Three ingredient dumplings included pork, shrimp and egg. It was an interesting combo to say the least but it was good! The beef rolls were pretty good but my only complaint was it had cucumbers. The specific ingredients were not listed out in the menu but I never had cucumbers in beef rolls before so I didn't give it much thought when I was ordering lol. Other than that, it was good! The lamb noodle was only okay. There was plenty of noodles, lamb and veggies but the flavor was just okay. It wasn't bland or anything but the flavor was somewhat lacking. I would definitely come back to try out their other menu items. My uncle ordered the beef noodle which I've had before that I like! Service was also quick and attentive. The place was small so getting the servers attention was no problem. Parking lot is available in the front.

Yelp
Portions are pretty generous for the price. If you're eating inside. It can get pretty warm with the stuffiness of the summer heat. Nevertheless, what brought me to here was the hand cut shaved noodles. There were a lot of pictures of people ordering mooshu cat ears. It's essentially a mix of fried scrambled egg with mushrooms on top. Their portion size for the pig ears is definitely bigger than what most other Chinese restaurants serve. Lamb had that great smokiness to it without the overpowering game to it.

Yelp
This place needs more credit. I definitely prefer this spot over Noodle express on New and Valley. From the delicious sides and fresh cut noodles, I left thinking what im going to get next time. The sesame noodles are crazyyyyy good. Chewy and toasty, it's a must. Beef rolls are also on point. It has a small parking lot but you can always park on the street. It's rarely busy, so it won't be a problem.

Yelp
Small restaurant/ cafe that specializes in noodles and dumplings. And more specifically, shanxi knife-cut noodles. The place feels family owned and operated and this was reflected in the friendly, warm service. I came in on a cold evening, looking for some warm soup. So I ordered the beef noodle soup. I ended choosing the thinner, hand stretched noodles (as apposed to the thicker knife cut variety), because it seemed like it would go better in the soup. The noodles were very well done and chewy. Great texture to go along with the comforting spicy broth. I also ordered fish and leek dumplings. Great flavor and structure. I took most to go because the two dishes I ordered was a lot of food. I enjoyed the vibe here. While I was eating, there were two ladies preparing dumplings off to the side. It reminded me of my mom and aunt when I visit my parents. So there was a nostalgic factor. Like a lot of other restaurants in the area that I really enjoy, this place feels like a great value for delicious noodles and dumplings because of their great selection and very reasonable prices.

Yelp
Parking: JYTH is located in a small plaza with limited parking next to Starbucks. Service: The restaurant is family owned and the people are very nice. It takes a while for them to prepare the food since there are not many people on the staff. Interior: The interior looks relatively new. It was not very crowded when I went to pick up my order. It looks like most people order takeout. Food: I got the pan fried bun with pork and pan fried bun with leek. They probably make one of the best pan fried buns in the area. The buns were huge, not too greasy, crispy on the bottom, fluffy inside, and stuffed full of filling. You can order a small portion with six pieces or large with ten. I will definitely be back to try their noodles.

Yelp
Wow this place exceeded my expectations! My so and I shared everything and we still had extra. For appetizers we got the cucumbers and pig ear. There was a lot for a cold side dish which was great. The pig ear was sliced thicker than the other ones I had. It also had cilantro and red bell peppers that added more flavor to the dish. I would definitely recommend the beef roll here. The cucumber beef and cilantro worked so well together with the outside being perfectly flaky and delicious. You can tell the knife cut noodles were handmade. Perfectly seasoned as you mix in all the ingredients with cucumber egg beef and savory sesame sauce. The lady was super nice and food was delivered pretty quickly. The restaurant was clean and spacious with plenty of parking outside. I would definitely come back to try more dishes!

Yelp
Haven't been to teh restaurant for a long long time and was happy to see their new decor and almost new menu! The server was very friendly and helped us with the order. I was thinking about the moo- shu shrimp and he immediately explained their moo-shu dish doesn't come with the pancake wrap; for me, a moo-shu without pancake is just another stir-fried veggie!! I appreciated him for the reminder! Mom was craving for the stir-fried pancake with veggies, a very home-style dish but hard to find in LA. JTYH's stir-fried pancake was delicious!! A generous portion of mixed veggies and the pancake slices were crispy not soaking in sauces. My thick knive-cut noodle was a bit oily, but still had great flavor! The beef pancake roll has a good balance of sliced beef and lots of scallion, cucumber, and cilantro. We also bought their frozen hand-made dumplings in Fish ($26 for 50 pcs) it was yummy as well. Overall, the restaurant offers great food at a reasonable price. A good local spot worth the support!

Yelp
I wouldn't think I would enjoy Chinese food this much as I had been staying in Taiwan half the time in the past 2 years and have all the good Chinese restaurants within reach. Came here mainly to get frozen dumplings and wontons for lazy days when I don't feel want to cook. The exterior of the restaurant is very dated but once inside, it's clean and has more Chinese themed decoration than I had expected. Ordered frozen dumplings and wonton, also ordered few dishes to go, Mooshu fried noodle with knife cut noodles, beef roll and beef/tendon noodle soup with knife cut noodles. The lady took my order was very friendly and told me to sit while waiting Bec knife cut noodle will take a while to "cut". My love for knife cut noodle started when I was maybe in college or high school when there's knife cut noodle shop near NTU. But years later I am without motivation to brace the hot humid weather to go out of my way for food. I tried UberEat once but by the time it got to my hand, the noodles were already soggy. Food was well packed, stewed beef soup and noodles were in separated container, I like seeing how well food was packed to get a idea if someone who made the food sloppy. Everything was delicious and I am truly enjoying the food:) since there's nothing I would like to complain, definitely a 5 stars!

Yelp
Old school, northern Chinese cuisine from the Shanxi province. They specialize in their knife-cut noodles, with that signature chewiness (yum), but I didn't get a chance to try it yet. Went on a Sunday night with my family, and although they always have guests, it's never packed and we never have to wait, which my family appreciates. Ordered the smashed garlic cucumber, pig ears, beef roll, fried leek buns, pork and chive dumplings, and sweet and sour soup - all delicious, and would absolutely recommend-order. Also, our waitress was attentive and speedy. Btw, Jonathan Gold spoke highly of the Shanxi noodles when he came here - another reason to try them!

Yelp
my favorite knife cut noodles in la! i get the beef tendon noodle soup - the broth is balanced, light, beefy and herbacious, the noodles are perfect. tendon is soft and tender. the meal i always think about on tuesdays (the day they're closed)

Yelp
Always enjoy their pan fried dumplings, dan dan mien and sesame noodles. Small shop, run by a family. Outside looks a bit old but the food is good. Pan fried dumplings take about 20 mins to make.

Yelp
This is an amazing place. It is the only beef noodle I eat in LA. I've tried a lot and since Demon King / Blue Samurai closed, I couldn't find a place to satisfy my fix. (I am rather picky for beef noodles) My recommendation is beef / tendon noodle soup with knife cut noodles. Second dish is chow mein with hand pulled noodles.

Yelp
My favorite hole in the wall Chinese noodle place. Best knife cut noodles with beef. Love their cat ear noodles also. Pretty much everything is delicious and VERY reasonable. Great dumplings which you can also buy frozen to prepare at home. Friendly, family run.

Yelp
I head out to San Gabriel Valley from the Westside with the wife & kids a few times a month for authentic Chinese food. I'm an immigrant with a mom & a grandma who is/was excellent at cooking Northern Chinese dishes. If you find yourself in the Rosemead-area, I'd recommend a little hole-in-the-wall called JTYH (on Valley Blvd.). They make all of their noodles and dumplings from scratch and you can even buy frozen dumplings to go (around $25 for a bag of 50; I buy 3-4 bags per visit (bring a cooler)). You'll often see the family that runs this restaurant hand-making dumplings and bao at a table in the small dining room. It can be intimidating to go to a new place with unfamiliar food, so I'll make a few recs. Try the cat ear mushu (no, not real cat ears, silly- the hand-made pasta resembles an ear), the three-ingredient dumplings (pan-fried), the fried pork buns, and the knife-cut noodles with lamb. Their small dining room is now open for dine-in (no outdoor seating). They take credit cards and speak good English. Bon Appetit!

Yelp
This is probably long overdue, but I believe I'm going to go ahead and bump this hole in the wall up to 5 stars ... I feel like this place has really grown on me in the past few years. It probably helps that one of the ladies who works here seems to recognize me when I visit now. :D The value and quality of food here is remarkably high - you still can get a delicious and filling "home-made" meal here for not too much money, even as the fiat printing machine goes "brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr". I stop here not only to dine in, but I am also a *huge* fan of their frozen dumplings that I get to go (to be stashed and later cooked at home - or more often, at work), which are not only still quite affordable (a sack of 50 Pork and Leek dumplings has only increased $1 in price in roughly the last 2 years), but very tasty and filling. These hand-made dumplings (which are produced *in front of you* in the dining area, often as you eat) are definitely of FAR superior quality to the commercially-produced frozen dumplings that are sold at 99 Ranch, GW, and the likes. It seems like every time I visit, there are few to no diners inside (no need to wait in line, relatively quiet and secluded dining environment), and there are always plenty of available parking spaces (no delays in hunting for a spot). If you have not yet ... I highly encourage you to give JTYH a try, I'm confident you will enjoy your meal! :)

Yelp
My fave unpretentious mom and pop (and son) shop for consistent noodles and dumplings. I haven't tried anything here that I didn't like. Best sesame noodles in the city IMO.

Rosanna L.

Yelp
This is one of my go to place for dumplings and noodles. My go to dishes are the hot and sour noodles, xiao long bao, beef roll, the mushu noodles and the cucumber appetizer. I don't like the knife cut noodles though since they always splash all over me when it falls off my chopsticks but that's just a personal preference so I go with the regular noodles. Noodles are hand made. I love their hot and sour noodles. Its different than the typical hot and sour soup and isn't that oily szechuan stuff. Xiao long bao is soupy, beef roll has lots of flavor and refreshing cause they put a lot of cucumbers and they stir fry the wrap and not fry like other restaurants. Frying the wrap makes the roll in general hard. The mushu noodles is noodles cooked with eggs, black fungus. Something I haven't seen at any other noodle restaurant in the SGV. This is family run restaurant. Service is good. They have a small parking lot. They have a $25 minimum for credit card. Also, they just renovated last week and the interior looks really really nice. It gives a feel like you went back to olden day China.

Yelp
Amazing place for beef rolls, noodles and fried rice. Have been ordering pick up for over 10 years and I love it. A hidden gem. Get in my belly!

Yelp
LOVEDDDD the red chili oil wontons! LOVED. I always try this dish where restaurants serve it in hopes of finding the ONE style I like - here it's very close to the Din Tai Fung style with less sugar and a better price. They also use a good handmade wonton with delicious filling. A lot of places mess up on their use of wontons and sauce. LOVED the lamb noodle soup!! I generally love lamb across the board, and they do it really well here - clear broth style, hand made noodles, no gamey taste/smell (so my mom says as she can be more sensitive to it). Greaaat price. Decor is cute and makes it feel like you are in a traditional Chinese old street. We came an hour right before closing on a Wednesday and they are not busy at all. Service was immediate and straightforward. They busy themselves by hand folding their dumplings on the side.

Cin S.

Yelp
A hidden gem. I've tried all of their dry noodles and they're all really great with always the perfect amount of chewiness/QQ. The cat's ears absolutely live up to the hype - garlicky comfort food. The buns/dumplings are not as heavily salted as in other restaurants which I prefer. Service is fast and courteous, there's always parking available in the lot out front. What more do you need?!
google avatar

Anne S.

Yelp
I really do love their food. But sometimes they really do take forever.. We ALLLLWAYS get their mushu cat ears. It's tiny pieces of dough that curl and look like cat (kitty) ears but literally freaks people out cuz of the name. The noodles are stir fried in a soy sauce base and topped with eggs scrambled with veggies and meat. Always a hit! We also get their simmer soup with knife cut noodles, pan fried buns (juicy goodness with crispy bottoms), and ask what veggies they have if we feel like being healthy. They have a small indoor dining area we use to eat in before Covid but even back then, most people did take out I think. The area is small and fits maybe 2-3 small parties(?) If you like spicy, they also have toothpick lamb that was delicious

Yelp
Came here for lunch around 1 p.m. and it was pretty empty. Motivation was to check out the shaved noodles but got sidetracked and we instead ordered the beef noodle soup w/ knife cut noodles and the 'three ingredients fried cake' (#310 on the menu). The latter was pretty decent, and given that we personally don't know of too many places that offer it (Northern Cafe used to but no longer, afaik), it could be worth returning for. The beef noodle soup, though, was ok-but-not-great, so probably best to try something else. The service was friendly though.

Yelp
At the corner of a lot, easy to miss, and next to a butcher shop, this place is a hidden gem! Wow. The exterior is an extremely unassuming little noodle shop, but the flavor and texture of the noodles/ dumplings packs a punch. I have been on a hunt for good handmade noodles and decided to give this place a shot. Came on a quiet Monday and there was one other table. The Dan Dan noodles and Zajiang Mien were delicious- perfectly spiced and a hint of mala on the former. We also got the beef noodle soup which was really good as well. I spied a regional specialty on their menu- handmade "Cat Ears" noodles (basically the Asian version of orecchiette pasta) . I am going to get that next time because you can't find that anywhere else! The dumplings were amazing. The filling inside was super generous and the skin was handmade chewiness and thin. They also have a number of buns that I want to try next time!

Yelp
COVID-19: Social distancing is enforced at this establishment. All of the staff wears a mask. All customers are expected to wear a mask too. The staff also wear gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has no outdoor seating available with limited capacity. They are also sanitizing in between customers. While I was grabbing my food from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment. Parking: They have a super tiny parking lot. Like seriously. You can only fit about 15 to 20 cars here. If the lot is full, park in the lot next door and walk over. The spots are tiny and tight. So be careful. Food: The food here is bomb! I have been coming here for the past 10 years or so and I love it. My family and I ordered their (10) soup dumplings aka xiao long baos. The soup dumplings were very juicy and delicious. Their scallion pancakes were nice and crispy. Their pan fried dumplings were also very crunchy and juicy too. Their beef rolls were packed with meat and cilantro, cucumbers, and scallions. So delicious. Staff: The staff here are super friendly and nice. I called in to order and they said that my order would be ready in about 15 to 20 minutes. It was all ready for me when I went to pick it up 20 minutes later. I paid in cash. They have a $20 minimum for credit card usage. If your order is below $20, you MUST pay in cash.

Yelp
Omg the food is so good. My mom and sister just brought back their leftovers and the lamb noodle soup is a must for lamb lovers, and their wontons are legit. I definitely want to dine in and try more of their dishes.

Yelp
These mom n pop hidden gems me 626 what it is. It is not necessarily a popular spot but there is a decent fanbase to keep them going. Covid is beating these guys a bit so if you've never been here make your way there! Food: Love the knife cut fried noodles. They have a spicy fried lamb dish that is amazingly! Potstickers here remind me of how my dad use to make it. Thicket skin but super juicy interior. Service. Very friend family style service. Environment: Very much a hole in the wall type of feeling when you walk in. That is because it is. Price: Very decently priced. Food: 4 Service: 4 Environment: 4 Price: 4

Yelp
I've had JTYH bookmarked for a long while now, thanks to a suggestion from a co-worker. I'm so glad I finally had a chance to try their food, despite it having to happen during quarantine times. We called in our order and it was ready for us 15 minutes later! Staying true to the recommendations from others, we got: * beef rolls * fried pork dumplings * beef fried noodles with shacha sauce * mooshu cat ears The beef rolls here stood out to me because 1) they include cucumbers, which made it a bit more refreshing, and 2) the roll is not fried like other places. The pork dumplings were plump and fat and completely what we expect from fried dumplings (we had super tiny, expensive, and disappointing pan fried dumplings somewhere the day before)! So worth the money! I love shacha sauce (it goes great with everything from KBBQ dipping sauce to noodles!), so the fried noodles dish was already a winner from the first bite. The mooshu cat ears are so unique! It's not your typical Chinese noodles dish, but I loved it regardless. All four items kept BF and I full for dinner and I had enough to last me for breakfast and lunch for 4 days. Total cost was under $40 too, so you definitely get a good value for your money! I don't recall if they take credit card, but we paid cash, since that's our default payment method at mom and pop shops right now to save them on credit card processing fees (doing what we can to help from our end!).

Take out order: Mooshu "Cat Ears" - 3.5/5 Take out order (2/5/22): (Noting that it took longer then they told us over the phone and we had to wait in the parking lot for about 20min) 2x beef noodle (one hand pulled, one knife cut) - 5/5 1 small vegetarian pan fried buns - 5/5 1 large 3 ingredient pan fried buns (chicken/pork/shrimp) -5/5 Beef roll/beef wrap - 4/5 Lamb Fried knife shaved noodles - 4/5 Cold Cucumber -3/5 Won ton in chili oil - 3/5 This was my first time trying the dish so I didn't know what to expect. I also didn't get to eat it fresh/same day but I still enjoyed it warmed up as a left over the next morning. The cat ears are perfectly chewy and I really liked the egg mushroom mixture on top (the flavor is defintely more in the noodles/sauce that coats the cat ears and less in the egg mixture) and once combined you get a nice chewy, flavorful bite with a good, soft texture from the egg. The portion is also very large for the price and it is very filling. Personally I would like more egg mixture for the amount of cat ears just because I think it's yummy and would make for a more balanced individul main dish. Overall I'm glad that I got this and tried it, though I think it works better as a shareable side dish and I probably wouldn't order again as an individual main dish, if that makes sense. I did enjoy it, though it's nothing I would drive out of my way for. But I also need to try more things on the menu so make a decision about the restaurant as a whole. ************ First time trying the beef noodle soup and I think it might be my new favorite in town (for the clean beef broth, not the red/spicy broth). I love the hand pulled (thin) noodles, though if you like knife cut style they are also very good here. Broth has a nice balance flavor that is clean and not overly aromatic. Only thing is that it is very oily. Still giving a 5/5 and will come back when I'm craving beef noodle soup. The pan fried buns are also wonderful. My favorite are the leek (vegetarian) that have leeks, eggs, and glass bean noodles. I will always come back for these buns. The combo buns are also delicious. They make for a great snack and reheat well. 5/5. The beef roll here is also one of my favorites. The beef is good quality and tender and I love all the fresh greens they include. Some bites have a bit too much oyster/hoisin sauce which I don't mind but it can be a bit sweet. Still 4/5 and will always get from here. The fried knife cut noodles with lamb are great if you like lamb (I don't but my partner and his family love this dish and always order it). The knife cut noodles are yummy and the sauce has great flavor. 4/5. Last would be the wontons in chili oil and the cucumbers. Neither are bad though I recently had Din Tai Fung and am spoiled by there cucumbers and chili oil won tons. I appreciate they give you A LOT of cucumbers and the added red pepper adds a bit of sweetness.. but they are lacking a tad bit of flavor (maybe I'll add a splash more vinegar and seasame oil). The won tons are just okay. Not amazing but not terrible, though probably wouldn't order again. 3/3

Yelp
Read many reviews and gave this place a try. Ordered 3 items: 1) Boiled Dumplings (3 ingredient) - great taste, fresh ingredients, definitely worth the try! 2) Pan Fried Onion Cake - chewy and oily, lack taste and had better at Korean restaurants 3) Stewed Beef Tendon Noodle Soup w/Knife-Shaved noodles- soup was very flavorful and the noodles were a little chewy * Brought these items to go so next time will try to eat in the restaurant. Will definitely go back to try other items on the menu.

Yelp
I saw the review for JTYH restaurant a few weeks ago and was intrigued by th noodle offerings...what are "shaved noodles"? Well, I found out 3 days ago. I found myself in the Rosemead/El Monte area and realized that I was hungry. I knew JTYH was near, so I set off to try. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the restaurant itself is very unassuming. Probably 10 tables, in a little shopping area next to a Viet market. I was welcomed to sit and given a menu to peruse. So many good offerings; it was hard to decide. I am partial to lamb and there were more than a few lamb dishes. But, I wanted the shaved noodles! I decided on a pigs ear in spicy oil appetizer and ordered a bowl of "simmered soup" with the shaved noodle. What a complete delight! I loved the irregular shapes and the chewy texture of the noodle and the broth, veggies and meats were savory and delicious. And all for about $25, including tip. I had a short conversation with my waiter and he told me that the food is a fusion of northern Chinese and Taiwanese. Guess who'll be coming back for dinner?!!

Yelp
We first discovered this restaurant many years ago after Jonathan Gold wrote an article in LA weekly praising the noodles here at JTYH. After 10+ years we decided to circle back and give this place another try. During this time, we have been able to try quite a few different Chinese restaurants and have developed an appreciation for the food. With these experiences, we now understand just how delicious the food is here. The knife cut noodles are the way to go. The chewiness of the noodles are perfect both in the soups and the dry noodle dishes. The mala beef noodle soup is pretty solid but my favorite are the dan dan and mushu cat ear dishes. They both have layers of flavor and the mala numbness of the dan dan is perfect. The chewiness of the noodles adds an extra layer of texture to the dishes which makes the experience epic. The pan fried dumplings are at that same level and have an awesome crunch. JTYH is a bit more a drive for us but is definitely worth the extra time and effort.

Yelp
JTYH is a family owned restaurant with great food and a friendly staff. They are best known for their delicious, hand-made dumplings which come in a variety of ingredients. My favorite are the pan fried lamb or pork with leek. However, they offer 6-7 other combinations. They are also known for their spicy hand-carved noodle soups and stir fry's. Our other favorites are the Mooshu Cat Ears, hand-carved noodles with lamb, and onion pancakes. We live near Culver City but drive to Rosemead at least once a month to enjoy a delicious meal. It's well worth the drive.

Yelp
Last time I ate here with friends, it was about 5 years ago, and one of the dishes I enjoyed tremendously was the Moo Shu Cat Ear (handmade pasta that resembled orecchhiette pasta). However, my recollection was that the pasta was made into smaller pieces and was more fully cooked (less al dente than it was when had it just this past weekend). It was also better seasoned the last time and not as dry. In fact, seasoning was the main issue with a few of our dishes -- there wasn't enough seasoning in the Spicy Beef & Beef Tendon Noodle Soup, the pan-fried noodles, and Scallion Pancake. The end result would unwanted leftovers of these three dishes. Their entrees were well prepared, and all three dishes were completely devoured. Their dumplings were good, though the skin of the boiled dumplings were a bit thick (making them a bit chewy). Their wontons were excellent. The pork filling was well seasoned, and the skin thin and delicate. Overall, it was somewhat of a disappointing outing for me. 3.5 stars (rounding it up to 4) for good service, for serving 12 dumplings per order (versus 8 with most other restaurants) and for very reasonable prices.

Yelp
Dined at JTYH this past weekend for dinner, most tables were full, but it was not too busy. We ordered everything to share among 3 people and had leftovers: -Stewed Beef Tendon & Beef Noodle Soup (w/ Hand-Made Noodles), this was good! I added some white vinegar and chili oil to taste, but it tasted authentic. Medium-sized bowl can be shared amongst 2 people. -Beef Fried Noodle w/ Shacha Sauce (w/ Knife-Shaved Noodles), these knife-shaved noodles were very thick, but were good...The sauce was a bit bland. I added black vinegar and chili oil to taste. -Dan Dan Noodle (w/ Hand-Made Noodles), this was good and pretty spicy. They used the numbing spices and it comes with some bok choy. -Pan Fried Bun w/ Pork, Egg & Shrimp, these were huge! I'd say these were just okay, I added my own sauce mixture to taste. Restrooms were fairly clean, service was okay. Staff can speak English and Chinese. I thought the food tasted authentic, I'll back to try other dishes.

Yelp
It's been a few months since we've been to JTYH so wanted to support and get some takeout for lunch. It's run by a nice family. Their food gives a very homey feeling to it which we like. Their dishes also come in big portions so we have plenty of leftovers. We absolutely love their frozen 3 ingredient dumplings to keep in our freezer, so I highly recommend those! Here are our faves! Appetizers -Cold Cucumber - classic -Mung Bean Jelly in Chili Sauce - don't know many other places that have this and make it so delish, love their sauce Mains -3 Ingredient Dumplings - fave dumplings -Beef Fried Knife Shaved Noodles with Shacha Sauce - best eaten fresh -Sichuan Style Fish Dillet/Dou Ban Yu Pien- reminds me of mapo tofu with fish and so good with rice, just a bit oily! I recommend calling ahead to ensure they're open as their hours have varied during the pandemic.

Yelp
I went here a month ago. A great small hole in the wall place. It's family owned and everything tastes home cooked and authentic. I went there before they closed, it was cool bc they were hand wrapping dumplings so you could see all the hard work they put into it. They have great prices and big portions. I had the pan fried dumplings and cat ear noodles. I love pan fried dumplings, so always on the look out for some good ones. The ones here were huge and delicious! The cat ear noodles looked interesting and I hadn't ever tried it before, so I took a risk and tried them. It's got a unique texture, thicker and smaller and has a good chew. The dish had a good taste that makes me feel a bit nostalgic for home cooked familiar food mixed with a new flavors. I can't wait to come by to try more of their dishes.

Yelp
Excellent dumplings. A hole in the wall great place to feed many mouths, because the portion is huge. The price is unbeatable and their pan fried dumplings is a must order and Devine.

Yelp
JTYH Restaurant easily earns 5 stars from me. I'm a beef noodle soup specialist, and I have to say, JTYH has some of the best noodles around. You must order the knife-shaved noodles here! I order beef noodle soup whenever available almost everywhere I go, and have tried it at 100s of restaurants. Despite lackluster reviews, this place is no joke and deserves recognition. It is the real deal. Came here today for lunch for my first time. I have a long list of Chinese noodle restaurants bookmarked, and since we were in the San Gabriel area, we took the opportunity to give this place a try. Note that this restaurant doesn't have the most appealing outward appearance. Located in a rather rundown parking lot, this is definitely a hole-in-the-wall. That being said, this restaurant takes handmade Chinese food to the next level. It did not disappoint. I ordered the large beef stewed noodle soup, priced at $7.95. My friend ordered some dumplings, which were being handmade in front of us the next table over. Talk about fresh! My beef stewed noodle soup was very impressive in terms of both taste and size. The broth had a delicious flavor to it, and the noodles were outstanding! I loved the texture. Knife-shaved noodles are the way to go here. They tasted out of this world. The quantity was more than sufficient. I notice a lot of people complaining about their soup because the noodles are too difficult to pick up, and I find that completely outrageous and unfair. Don't complain about it being hard to pick up with chopsticks. That's how all knife-shaved/shredded noodles are. It's part of the inconsistency. I did not find this restaurant's noodles to be particularly difficult at all. I order them everywhere I go and felt that these were actually one of (if not) the best ones I've had. If you haven't been, you should really go check this place out. The knife-shaved noodles will not disappoint. Prices are cheap, service is nice and quick, and the noodles cannot be beat. I hope to return soon, and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to all beef noodle soup eaters. This place is awesome!

Yelp
With a grumble in my tummy, I arrived to expect something yummy. Noting 20 was the minimum pay, Our stomaches drove us cray. Settling with pig tongue, beef stewed noodle soup, and beef rolls, We knew we would enjoy it with LoLS. With each main dish around 6-9 dollars, The chef impressed us with their cooking powers. Are the beef rolls better than 101 as others say? Only a fool would say nay! The sauce intertwines with the meat, And even the vegetables turn it into such a treat! The noodles, knife cut, and well-prepared, The soup in which it was paired, Developed a lightning spark, For I knew it wouldn't be long till I return soon again before dark. Happy with what tasted like a heartwarming home cooked meal, I returned home happily by wheel.

Yelp
Love coming here for their frozen giant juicy pork dumplings. Only caveat is the wrapper is a little thicker for my preference. So I either over steam and the juice comes out or steam less but the top is a little hard. Overall, very happy with their dumplings and price.

Yelp
Rating: 3.5 stars If you are a fan of the Goldster and noodles, this noodle place might be on your next foodie adventure. This place is very similar to Laoxi noodle house in Arcadia. Underated is probably the word to describe this place. Main Attraction: They offer knife cut noodles as a noodle option! If you like noodles that are dense and chewy, this noodle option is for you. Location/Parking: Located in a quiet plaza that has only two tenants including JTYH. There's enough parking. Ambiance/Decor: Ambiance is alright. Everyone is minding their own business. If it gets too busy, you might have to share a table with strangers or elect to wait it out. Decor is a bit boring, but that doesn't matter. You're just here for the food! Service: Service is like snail mail. Not much staffer:customer interaction here. Food: Has about the same food as Noodle 101 Express. Can't go wrong with the beef rolls, dumplings, scallion pancakes, or the spicy beef noodle (ask for knife cut noodles). I usually order the dan dan knife cut noodles! The thickness of the noodles soaks in the flavor of the mince beef and hot chili oil very nicely. If it's too spicy, you can ask the staffers for more peanuts and sesame paste! I usually ask for more to cool down the heat and gives me the yummy nutty texture and flavor that I love!
