Google
Bohemian ambiance, absolutely killer wine. The food is nice, but the place shines thanks to its brick walls, dim lights and awesome wine— especially recommend going on happy hour, which is from 5-7 on weekdays and offers a jug of wine for $50! Worth noting that Jug & Table is located on the first floor, and if you go to the second or third floor you’ll go into another restaurant.

Google
Happy hour is a great time to go. Jugs of wine are half off. A selection of wine by the glass is only $5. Great cheese plate and charcuterie choices. Only few tables inside small cozy joint.

Google
Come here for their wine HH deal! My friends and I were here and loved the large jug of wine. There is 2.5 bottles of wine in the jug. Great deal for friends. The cheese board is wonderful, excellent to share. Nice staff and the place is not as crowded as other bars in the area. You might have to in through the side door which is inside the building right before the staircase.

Google
First floor wine-oriented cousin of Roofer's Union upstairs, this is a nice little place to sample wines and interesting food. This place makes wine accessible to those less familiar as well as caters to those looking for something more unique. Their small plates are also pretty interesting and made by people who are curious about playing with flavors. Highly recommended!

Zach Traynor

Google
Slightly pricey (but it's a wine bar so that shouldn't surprise you) BUT, great selection, fast service, chill bartenders. A relaxing and classy place. Highly recommend for wine fans (or non-wine fans with picky wine friends)

Joe Morgan

Google
Nice low-key alternative to the often noisy Roofers Union upstairs. Happy hour 5-7 with $5 select glasses of wine and $25 dollar jugs (2.5 l).

Dor “Dori”

Google
EXCELLENT happy hour wines, we tried the white chardonnay and the red cabernet and both were excellent. Very chill atmosphere, good for dates.

Denise A

Google
Cute little place with a good wine selection, unique cocktails, and music piped in from a record player behind the bar. Happy hour specials on wine.

Yelp
The roof top at Roofers Union gives a great view of the city. Their drink menu is standard. We had some Modelos and sat watching the skyline. The playist was wacky. It was a mix of Eminem and country hits I've never heard before. The vibes were good. People were socializing and having a good time! I would come back again another time.

Allie H.

Yelp
Stopped in for brunch and were able to be seated on the roof which was great for enjoying food on a beautiful day! The food was pretty decent. I think the idea of a mimosa board is cool. Basically a board with smoked salmon, a bagel, capers, cream cheese, tomatoes and onion and comes with a mimosas. Definitely would come back again

Kathryn J.

Yelp
I stopped by the rooftop bar with a friend to have dinner on a beautiful spring evening. The rooftop bar has a tent on top of it that made it feel surprisingly cramped. However, the view from the edge was great and we found a nice spot on stools with a ledge for our food and drinks. Unfortunately, the food was just not great. I had fish and chips with fries and it was really average. The fries were not great at all. They have a rooftop only menu, but the fish and chips are on the normal menu so I'm not sure what other food items are like. The service was pretty absent too, which I honestly expected because it's pretty much like a bar. I think in the future I would come here for a drink but not for the food. There are probably better rooftop spots in the area.

Niranjana S.

Yelp
Such a picturesque spot for a little sunset rooftop drink. Pictured are the views around sunset of the Adams Morgan area. The drinks themselves were typical DC prices and I was a fan of the lychee martini. Would definitely recommend if in the area! It was just really crowded and loud so would caution against those looking for a quiet chill place.

Yelp
Haven't been here for a while and on a late Sunday afternoon this is one of the few restaurants on 18th Street that serves food during the in between lunch and dinner hours. They now have a curbside patio seating area set up with colorful long tables and benches which is covered and shaded and a very pleasant place to sit on a hot summer day. Only thing is if seating there instead of in the dining room upstairs this is the downstairs bar area so can only order from the patio bar menu, which is ok with us as there is burger and fish and chips which is exactly what we wanted anyway. Service was good and food came quickly. Price reasonable although not the largest portions. All in all it's a long established nice neighborhood restaurant with reliable food and service.

Bobbi D.

Yelp
We got drinks on the rooftop and dinner in the dining hall one floor down. The roof would be SO much better if uncovered... the view from the dinner floor was beautiful - I love the huge windows. The vibe and atmosphere is AMAZING! The service was veryyyyy slow and the food/drinks were good but not amazing - but will 100% be back! The happy hour was solid!

Christopher K.

Yelp
The drinks are high quality, the bartenders are fun and interactive, and nothing beats the rooftop view of Admo

Tania A.

Yelp
If you are looking for somewhere with very casual dining in the Adams Morgan area - this could be a good spot for you. From the pictures online, we were hoping to eat on the rooftop, but that was closed and not open (even with a reservation). Similar to what some of the other reviews mention (which I unfortunately didn't check before visiting), the dinner menu has a limited selection of options. There is also very little interaction/engagement with the severs or staff, as orders are made through a QR code on each table. One thing this does mean is that food and drinks come really quickly - so, if you're short on time... This could be a good option for you. I tried the chicken wings, Bucatini pasta, and sampled the friend chicken thigh sandwichwhich was okay. Overall it was an okay dining experience.

Dan M.

Yelp
Still one of the best around, but sadly only open for one more week, so try them one last time while you still can! They have been here nearly 10 years, it really feels like losing an institution.

Eliza A.

Yelp
So glad this place reopened - the rooftop in summer is hard to beat and the food is also really good! Great for a group

C K.

Yelp
Some people will remember the feeling Baltimore Colts fans had (and still have) when the team stole away in the middle of the night and became the Indianapolis Colts, being so lame that they kept the name and uniform. The same is true now with the new version of Roofer's Union. They have a lot of nerve keeping the name but not upholding the attributes that made this a fun bar to visit. Crappy beer and lame service is no way to keep or draw old customers. For a place that had a reputation as a leading gastropub downtown, the beer list alone is a travesty. Still has great views, but it leaves a lot to be desired.

Tom B.

Yelp
Beautiful rooftop. Great food and service. One of the best happy hours I've come across in DC. Very well-priced food/drinks until 7:00. This place is CRIMINALLY underrated. The wings are probably the best I've had in the city... and they're only a dollar on Tuesday! Outstanding spot right on the strip on Adams Morgan. Highly recommend A+++++!!! Tom Birner

Daniel R.

Yelp
A delicious restaurant that does awesome trivia on Wednesday nights! I love thé ambiance and the friendly service as well. Definitely check out the Wednesday trivia, which currently starts at 7:30. I really recommend the Brussels sprouts as well... they are DELICIOUS

Katie W.

Yelp
Really enjoyed dinner and drinks on the rooftop here! It's a causal vibe with a great view of Adams Morgan and 18th street. The food and drinks are also really good! I especially enjoyed the grilled chicken sandwich and the Brussels sprouts for an appetizer. I also order the frozen hibiscus margarita, which was nice and refreshing but not my absolute favorite because I didn't really get much flavor to it. Overall though, really nice place to eat and enjoy a few hours outside.

Nik N.

Yelp
Under new Ownership and wow can you feel and see the difference and the food is delicious now!! Live music on the weekends, cool vibes cocktail "lab" on the first floor, roof top and service was amazing. Excited to see how else this place evolves.

Constance L.

Yelp
Fun trivia and solid food! Detailed breakdown below: **Service, 5/5** Friendly staff -- food came out quickly and a nice waiter came by really regularly to take plates and fill up waters. **Decor & cleanliness, 5/5** Cute! And second floor has a great view. **Price & portion, 5/5** Not bad prices for the cocktails ($11 each) and food ($10-15). **Taste of the food, 5/5** - Chips ($3), 5/5: Perfectly crunchy and salted. If this was served with a simple dip it would've been even better! - Fried chicken sandwich, 5/5: Really solid sandwich! The chicken wasn't dry and I was surprised at how much I liked the siracha honey glaze. The bread also tasted fresh and was perfectly toasty.

Caroline B.

Yelp
Frequent patron in the previous iteration and decided to check it out under the new ownership. To be honest, it left a lot to be desired. On the main level, service was slow - it took an age for one of our party to get his sandwich, long after others had received their food. Vegetarian options are essentially limited to French fries and cheese puffs. I ordered a side of sweet potato fries, and they were delivered with another person's order on their plate to much confusion. Food was okay otherwise - the mini duck tacos were indeed mini and people in our group liked the chipotle chicken sandwich enough though thought it could have more chicken. Overall we preferred the old menu. The beer options are more limited than previously (and no more pitchers for larger groups), though the cocktails are much expanded, which is nice. The house red was something I'll avoid ordering again in the future. The rooftop has much better ambiance than before and has an expanded cocktail list. If you're a cocktail person, this place would be nice. If you're expecting a similar good beer selection and easy elevated bar food, less so.

Yelp
Roofers Union is a mixed bag. I love their rooftop, especially on a warm evening, and their drinks are fairly good. However I went for bottomless brunch and did not feel like it was anything special. The bottomless was priced fairly, but the mimosas were mostly orange juice and my waffle was pretty mid-range. The service is consistently pretty good, but not necessarily anything to write home about. Will be back for the rooftop but probably not for bottomless brunch, especially with so many other options in the city.

Tim C.

Yelp
This is a Sunday brunch review with a large (12 person group). On the whole the food was fine if not a bit underwhelming all the way around and was a bit pricey for a couple of the menu items. The bottomless mimosas for $22 isn't bad and they continued to refill those for 3+ hours (though to be fair we were one of like 4 tables in the entire place for the whole afternoon). The server on the other hand was amazing, getting everything we needed, was quick with the service and all refills, even brought out a slice of cake for the birthday we were celebrating.

Shari D.

Yelp
So we had the chance to venture out to Roofers Union and it was well worth the wait! There's 3 levels to try and each one has more to offer than the last. We stayed on the very top floor, it was well heated and comfy. Bar service was swift and they have lots of options to choose from. We did high top seating and were able to look out onto the nightlife of Adam's Morgan. Definitely going back to try some other drinks and another floor.

Jackie V.

Yelp
Solid spot for a drink! Even on a Friday or Saturday there is usually space to head in. I really like the rooftop and they have heaters. Beer selection is good & they have a solid choice of sours & ciders. Rooftop has high tops, and tables and bar seating. There are a lot of stairs (at least 3 stories) and I'm not sure if they have an elevator for everyone to use! Bathrooms are gender neutral.

Theodore H.

Yelp
I thought the service was good and the views were nice. Well done ambience and views of the surrounding neighborhood. But, the food wasn't exactly what I was hoping for. The burger came out in a smoky tube leaving a poignant aroma, but the burger itself lacked extravagance. I asked for medium rare and got well done. I assumed this compromised the well reviewed and anticipated wagyu beef. Hopefully, under different circumstances or a different menu choice, a wonderful meal can match the environment they have created there.

Fabian L.

Yelp
A great place to throw a private party--Mark and staff were so easy and accommodating to work with. Fast and good drinks and a fmenu everyone can enjoy!

Joseph L.

Yelp
Poor service at the rooftop bar. I was overcharged for a drink and the bartender was rude when I brought that to her attention

Annie J.

Yelp
We were tying in a hostel in the Adams Morgan district of Washington and this was a short walk. The food was good. The hubs had the fried cod, I opted for 2 small plates (duck tacos and pork belly sliders). We enjoyed it all. Our server was hopeless. Right out of the gate, I ordered a simple gin & tonic (she had to "look it up"). She served me a daiquiri. Since she disappeared, I went up to the bar and exchanged my drink. She did not appear again until AFTER my husband had finished his mealand asked us "how everything was so far". We asked a passing server for a refresh on drinks and I ordered another small plate.... Which I never got but it appeared on the bill. Go for the food.

Olivia K.

Yelp
The food was good for bar food. We got the burger and the chicken sandwich and they were both good. Great beer selection and they made me several different mocktails that were lovely. Get to the roof early if you want a seat, because it filled up by 7 pm on a Friday and was standing room only. Great rooftop view of 18th street. Overall a lovely spot for dinner and drinks on a summer Friday night!

Axel R.

Yelp
Amazing place, amazing staff, amazing food and a great view of beautiful 18th St from the second floor or the roof, in the heart of Adams Morgan. Make this a mandatory stop

Dan W.

Yelp
I wish I could give this place more stars, but that would require me to have set foot in the building first. Roofers Union is constantly changing the hours and days it's open, without updating its Google or Yelp pages. It's befuddling that a mainstream commercial enterprise in a major American city hasn't learned to update its hours on Google at this point. YOU HAVE TO WALK UP TO THE DOOR AND READ WHICHEVER IS THE LATEST SIGN THEY'VE PRINTED OUT ON PAPER IN ORDER TO GET AN UPDATE. Fortunately there are other places in Adams Morgan to go to, but don't plan around this one. There's a 50/50 chance it's closed on any given day, even if all indications would suggest it's open.

Jacob G.

Yelp
Location: 10/10 Service: 10/10 COVID Safety: 10/10 Food: 5/10 When it's 60 degrees for the first time in a month, you run (don't walk) to the closest bar with patio space available. Roofer's Union is in a prime location in the heart of AdMo. Great place to go for a drink and enjoy the rooftop view. The service was truly top notch and it's a great place to enjoy a drink. Of course, with the location comes a $10 beer. The food was okay and roughly the equivalent of going to a tailgate party. The Mexican Street Corn dip was interesting but the black bean burger and chicken sausage were average.

Allison N.

Yelp
Was really impressed by this place for brunch! My friend had her birthday celebration here in part because of the bottomless mimosas. The dining area doesn't have a lot of tables but there is plenty of space and lots of natural light because of the big windows. The brunch offerings are kind of minimal in terms of entrees but the bottomless mimosas are a great deal at $17 for two full hours. Plus they use the pulpy orange juice. I'm from Florida and this is the only acceptable type of OJ to use for mimosas (or anything, for that matter) so this was a plus! Service was really friendly. Food was OK. Get the biscuits, they are awesome and gigantic. The jam was especially good on the biscuit. I'd come back for brunch!

Abby T.

Yelp
Admo is a cute neighborhood and there's so many restaurants/bars to try, and roofers is a good option! They have a rooftop level and dining level with decent amount of seating on the dining level. Didn't get a chance to go on the roof, but definitely want to give it a try! When you order, you can place orders on your phone through the Toast website, and add to it as you want more drinks/food, which is super convenient. The drinks and food were alright, I got the chicken sausage with fries, just a tad expensive for the quality of food. They also have a time limit for dining, so keep that in mind! Happy to go back when I'm in the area!

Catherine M.

Yelp
I had been here a few times at night but finally came in for brunch for a friends birthday. It wasn't packed on the second floor but our table wasn't ready when we first got there which was a strange. Things here aren't cheap but are pretty good quality wise. We started with the biscuits and gravy which was a big portion and quite tasty. For my meal I got the waffle with an extra $4 of toppings..I think an additional $4 for just some strawberries or pecans is a rip off, as I think the chicken was around the same price and that's chicken? I would say the only thing I would change is making the home fries crispier as they just tasted a bit like boiled potatoes. The mimosa deal of $17 isn't bad and they actually had champagne in them unlike some places who jip you. They made a damn good bloody. Our waiter was attentive and all the refills were timely. I'd definitely come back here!

Lizzy S.

Yelp
Great spot for casual drinks. Love the covered rooftop with beautiful views of Adams Morgan and the DC skyline. You order at the bar and they have great beers and cocktails on tap. Lots of local beer selections, none of that generic PBR stuff. Be warned, lots of stairs involved, but that's the price of an incredible view. I've been here when it's standing room only, but you can usually a stool at a table or along the railing.

Shelby F.

Yelp
The food was amazing!! I got the fried thigh sandwich and the amaretto sour and both were delicious :) Logan and Liz were super helpful and over all made it a great experience! Would dine here again

Mark S.

Yelp
Personel extremely rude. Not surprising this place has the fewest stars of the area...

Katrina W.

Yelp
I came here for my friends birthday and the interior was great. It was a set $25 per person where you chose an entree and they brought donuts and fruit for the table. The donuts were delicious and came with a chocolate and blueberry sauce. For my entree, I got the Tofu Scramble. It was great and felt like I was getting a healthy brunch option! We also did the bottomless mimosas, which were made really well. They were really quick to keep filling up your glass when it was getting low. The only thing to note is that they charge the tip on top of the grand total, so it ends up being almost a 25% tip. For a party of almost 20 people, that made a pretty significant difference. Everything else was great though!!

Samantha L.

Yelp
Roofers Union is a two story restaurant with dining room on the second floor and a rooftop bar with frozen drinks available for purchase. For drinks, they have cocktails, craft beers, and wines by the glass. My best friend ordered the Trumpty Dumpty Sat on a Wall, which consisted of barr hill gin, carrot juice, velvet falernum, ginger, and lemon while I ordered the Stiegl Radler Grapefruit Lager. For appetizers, we shared Roasted Baby Carrots and Sauteed Cauliflower. The Roasted Baby Carrots was cooked in a carrot ginger vinaigrette and finished with fennel pollen. The Sautéed Cauliflower consisted of cauliflower sauteed with shishito peppers and pickled cauliflower in a mustard vinaigrette. This dish reminded me of Chinese vegetable stir-fry. For entrees, we ordered Hamburger and Grilled Flatbread. The Hamburger consisted of house ground sirloin and brisket, cheddar, and chipotle aioli, lettuce, tomato, and onion on a toasted sesame seed bun. The hamburger was full of flavor and quite juicy. I asked the server whether the Grilled Flatbread was spicy and she said no so I ordered it and it was too spicy to enjoy. It was nice that they allowed me to exchange for Potato Gnocchi. The Potato Gnocchi consisted of summer squash, grilled corn, and fern in a creamy pesto sauce. It was delicious.

Yelp
Great dinner last night at Roofers Union at  2446 18th St NW, Washington, DC. A fairly new place.  The dining room is very wide open.  A couple of high, communal tables, a medium sized bar, and the rest are private dining tables for parties of 2 or 4.  All in an open single-room concept. The menu has a lot of soul food favorites.  We ordered in particular the Sausage Party and the Steak Frites.  We had a nice two glasses of their Malbec (a decent Beer & Wine menu) and then finished the night with a Red Velvet Cake slice. If you're not looking out for the sign, you can walk right by the place.  Just remember directly across the street from Tryst and then look Up. Service was great!  We had Sarah and she was excellent.  Super friendly, checked in often, and got our order exactly right.  Sarah was great! If you haven't stopped by Roofers Union at 2446 18th St NW, Washington, DC, it's definitely worth a visit!  For a drink, or a full on dinner.

Yelp
***Racist establishment*** I rarely experience this in DC. I was coming back from a business trip carrying a bag, and the guy at the front took one look at me (I'm a brown guy) and said, "I'm not letting that guy in with the bag." After we said we'd pay extra, he said "I don't need your money, I need my security." My friends and I offered to let him check my bag and he took a big step back and said "NO WAY AM I CHECKING THAT THING! No way no way!" I'll never go back to this place and strongly discourage other people (especially brown people!) from patronizing here. Pretty shocking, racism has no place in 2022 and in DC of all places. It looks like other reviewers have pointed out staff are racist against black people as well, which is very sad but unsurprising given my experience.

Sabrina T.

Yelp
I was looking forward to supporting this business during the pandemic. I was craving a fried chicken sandwich and was happy to find Roofers Union in my search. There are strict time limits for the table upstairs starting at the time of the reservation. No wiggle room so you'll have to hopefully get the street seating that's first come, first serve if you want to stay a bit. Staff seemed overwhelmed but I attribute that to the summer Saturday crowd. Mexican Street Corn was good. Brussel sprouts were good. A little too heavy on the sauce. (Found a hair in the Brussels and had to return them. They did take them off the bill). Fried Chicken Sandwich was mediocre despite the nice presentation. It was mainly fried batter on a bun. There was barely any chicken. It was also drenched in an oily sauce. The rooftop has ample shade and beautiful views of the city. Overall it was a pleasant experience. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could but I probably won't return.

Maddie S.

Yelp
Love their frozen cocktails! Pretty reasonably priced too. Their rooftop is open air but covered which makes for a great outdoor space. Fun with a group of friends or date night

Chenée T.

Yelp
Came here another time! Tried the Pappardelle with homemade sauce. It was so delicious and I scarfed it down quickly. Even though they have small portion sizes they are definitely filling and always leave me satisfied and smiling. Definitely recommend this place!

Pegah Y.

Yelp
A group of my friends and I visited Roofers Union for a late night bite to eat during a night out in Adams Morgan. We managed to get a table for the 8 of us without a reservation in advance. The restaurant is very interesting in design and it's pretty spacious. The restaurant has open and airy windows on its ceilings and there was live music when we visited. The reason I'm giving this place such a low review is that I paid $15 for a very mediocre salad. I ordered the house salad and it had barely any dressing on it! The lettuce tasted wilted and old and they totally skimped on the toppings. I should have gone with something different, in retrospect. Another friend ordered the salad while others ordered sandwiches, etc. Nothing particularly stood out to me about this place and I was disappointed with the price and quality of my food.

Deirdre W.

Yelp
I recently tried Roofers Union for the first time for a Saturday brunch. There were only two of us and we didn't have a reservation. We were seated very quickly, but I would recommend a reservation for a larger party. The rooftop is closed during the winter, but the main restaurant floor is filled with lots of light that comes in from the floor to ceiling windows. The decor is a quirky hommage to its namesake. The main floor is lively and colorful with great views of Adams Morgan. There is a board at the bar that details all the various events they host throughout the week including bar trivia and live music. The brunch was very tasty and there were lots of options. You can have eggs benedict three ways -spinach, bacon, and salmon. Make sure you try any dish that comes with the homefries. They were hot and spiced to perfection. The mimosas are delicious and served with pulp orange juice (personally I really like OJ with pulp, but this may be a deal breaker for some.) If you're interested in bottomless brunch, Roofers offers a 2 hour bottomless deal for $15 in the dining room.

Courtney W.

Yelp
FINALLY came to try this place for a real sit-down dining experience and was not upset. I brought a friend for a breakfast / lunch (i.e.: not a DC brunch) experience and we inhaled our food, it was so good! The standard farmer's breakfast and the salmon Benedict were perfect for us, and the breakfast potatoes that were served had maybe the best seasoning EVER on them. I noted that on the menu you can do a waffle breakfast that allows you to decide between a half or a full waffle! What a time to be alive. For their brunch service they only have one dessert-type option and that's their donut holes served with chocolate sauce. *The bottomless brunch option is a two hour limit, with service ending at 230pm.

Sally S.

Yelp
Roofers was my favorite place to go when I lived here. Tonight I went to roofers union as an out of town guest visiting dc and I was waiting for a while to use the bathroom. I knocked on the bathroom door which I did not intend to seem aggressive and they had me escorted out of the bar. It was extremely embarrassing for me and I ended in tears apologizing after they accused me of saying racial slurs. I'm honestly confused and upset about any harm I could have caused and was extremely disappointed in their handling of the situation especially as a public school teacher who has devoted myself to being actively antiracist. I consistently tried to talk to them as they aggressively escorted me out and they did nothing to hear my voice or listen to me.

Philip B.

Yelp
Had a great meal at Roofer's Union last night for a private work party on the rooftop terrace. Highly recommend the steak skewers with chimichuri sauce, and the charcuterie board and hot dips were also excellent. Our group also really enjoyed the cheesecake cups for dessert. The staff were great and took excellent care of group throughout the event. If you're considering a private party, then I highly recommend the rooftop bar/terrace area.

Megan K.

Yelp
I came here for brunch on a Sunday. Seating was nice, the restaurant has a good view of the activity in Adams Morgan. The brunch menu had breakfast and lunch type dishes on it. I had the tofu scramble which was sautéed with mushrooms, kale and potatoes, with a fried egg on top. The dish was very good and had a nice combination of flavors. I also had a mimosa, they do offer bottomless mimosas for $15. The service was good and the staff were attentive and friendly.

Julia M.

Yelp
A group of friends and I came here on a VERY cold Saturday afternoon. Make sure to take note of their updated COVID hours. At the time they were not doing indoor dining (by choice). We sat on their rooftop which was very nice with a GREAT view. They accommodated our group of 7 by putting us at two tables near each other. We only stayed for a beer and appetizers since it was such a cold day. The wings and sausages were great, the salad was not worth it, but each guest is required to purchase a food item (currently). I'd like to try this place again, maybe for a happy hour.
