The 38 Best Restaurants in Singapore | Eater

"Check with your local police station, but a trip to Singapore without trying the national dish of sauce-slathered chilli crabs might be an actual crime. Mud crabs are simmered in a vibrantly sweet, savory, tangy, and slightly spicy sauce that’s made from ketchup, candlenut, chiles, and other spices. Try it at the iconic Jumbo Seafood, a decades-year-old institution that’s listed on the Singapore stock exchange, specializing in mud crabs weighing at least 800 grams (nearly 2 pounds) each. The company has five branches in Singapore, and the one at Riverside Point has the added bonus of a stellar river view. While you’re here, get your claws on another local staple, black pepper crabs made from firm-fleshed Dungeness." - Evelyn Chen

This is definitely the restaurant to visit if you want chili crab! But not ONLY that; every dish we ordered was a complete success, some of the best local cuisine I’ve had in Singapore. I was also pleased that all the tools needed to enjoy the crab were provided without me needing to ask for them, including bibs, gloves, wet wipes, and crab crackers. Finally, our waitress, Tina, was very friendly and knowledgeable, even helping me scoop the meat out of my coconut at the end of the meal!

I didn't come for chili crab but for the scallop yam rings and sung meen! I don't usually eat the veggie yam ring bowl but the bite size with scallop is really yums. Tofu with crab was delicious. Clean yet flavourful. Clam was nice but at $16, it tasted basic. Like you can achieve the same with scallops and it would be cheaper? Idk. Sung meen is good!! The noodles are perfect and not soggy. Seafood was fresh and cooked well. Same for mee goreng. Not soggy. Noodles very good al dente. Seafood fresh! As for chili crab, they said they only have 800grams. But after checking, they had 1.2kg. It was not a lot of meat though - we suspect crab was more water weight. Still, sauce and mantou were good. I will come back to Jumbo for the chinese dishes instead!

The smallest crab available was 800g — we had it cooked in chili crab style, but surprisingly, it wasn’t spicy at all. Still, the rich, flavorful sauce paired perfectly with the fried mantou — definitely the highlight of the dish. The black pepper crab, on the other hand, packed a much stronger punch in terms of spice and aroma. Service was impressively fast despite being told there’d be a 30-minute wait for the crabs; our food arrived in just about 15 minutes. The waitress was attentive throughout — constantly checking in, refilling our water (choice of warm or cold, complimentary), and clearing the shell bucket promptly. Overall, it’s a pleasant spot to dine in. While the chili crab may not be the best around, it’s still a great place for tourists to experience Singapore’s iconic flavors and fall in love with its signature dishes.

I will just go straight to the point. Crab took 1 hour to arrive. Chased twice. 2nd time they tried to smoke me that the chef saw the pincer was too small and changed the crab halfway, but hey PR save so I wasn't so mad until the rest of the dominos came crashing. Crab came 7 mins after I chased the 2nd time. Clearly rushed, the sauce was way too wet, the butter wasn't integrated properly. But guess what's the cherry on top? Crab was raw in some bits. I caught it I asked the manager about it cuz the part was ice cold and slimy. He brought it back to the table and told me, chef said it's cooked. I know you guys are slammed but to fail like this is horrible

First time having a meal at the Jewel branch of Jumbo yesterday. The food was good, the staff were very attentive. We had a good time, celebrating my uncle & aunty's wedding anniversary. . We had the set menu B10 - for 2 tables. Totally enjoyed the dishes esp the popular chilli crab with crispy mantou. The adults and kids had a great time tucking in the dishes. . The Boston Lobster with crispy noodles was not a popular dish - the lobster were cold by the time we start eating. The noodles were on a salty side. If it were a lobster porridge dish, it would be great. . Overall, we had a great time. Thanks for the caring and attentive staff. We will be back soon for another meal.

I want to give 5* to the service staff Mr Daniel, he offered the best to the customers. His reaction are quick and fast. Overall the foods served taste are same as Clark Quay & Ion outlets. Never disappointed us even though they serve most tourist at this outlets. Crabs and other ingredients were very fresh. It is really a good option when we come back from overseas for the local delicacies. Missed the chilies crabs....

Consistently excellent choice for great food, fast and good table service. Enjoyed the wasabi prawns, HK noodles, spinach with century egg, yam scallops. Highly recommend the mocca ribs, the glaze is just out of this world yummy. Also the best steamed and chilli crab in S'pore (imo).
