10 Quality Spots For Fast, Delicious Food in Jacksonville

"With two locations across Jacksonville, Jumpin Jax House of Food, the counter-service American restaurant is dishing out everything from burgers to salads. One of the most beloved dishes on the menu is the Air Thang burger, which starts with the restaurant’s patty, plus cheese, bacon, mushrooms, honey-balsamic grilled onions, garlic aioli, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, and a house sauce. The burger is a mouthful of flavor with each bite. Additionally, transplants from the mid-west can find a classic Chicago dog here, celery salt included." - Megan duBois

Based on the numerical rating of this place, I expected a lot more than what I got. I should have actually read the reviews first. I rarely eat out alone, but decided to treat myself to lunch. It was not a treat. I ordered the Flippy Floppy fish sandwich and got a tiny piece of fish on a bun that was overloaded with breading that was clearly fried way too long. I expected moist, flaky cod, but most parts of it were dry and crunchy. Half of the sweet potato fries that are an upcharged side weren’t cooked long enough so they were still too firm for my liking. The taste was mediocre, definitely not in line with the rating. The portion size should definitely be a bit larger for $15. I’ll probably never visit again and would definitely NOT recommend.

I was pet sitting for a friend across the street. I thought I'd just hit up Jimmy John's on Laura street after I was done but just happened to park in front of Jumpin Jax. They were about to close in an hour so I ran in and ordered a Jumpin Jax burger with pepper jack cheese. There wasn't a lot of fries but they were yummy! Well seasoned, fresh, and hot. The burger is the only reason I cut one star. I wish I could only cut half a star. I just don't feel it was medium... Felt it was medium rare. Not really seasoned either.

Very tasty food.Med rare bacon bleu burger was cooked well, little heavy on the other toppings. Only a handful of fries for a side but the burger was so filling i didnt need much else. Had to ask about kida options because no kids menu on display. Kids food came out a few min after adult food.

Restaurant is a definite. It's lighter fare but we'll prepared like gormet quality. For example I had the tuna fish salad and they actually used the correct ingredients: red onion and parsley. How many restaurants even do this? 🐬 The answer is not many. The service is good and it's also priced right. Street parking can be a challenge, especially during the lunch hour but it's a worthwhile stop. Definitely!

The service was quick and friendly. We has Mac n cheese, pepperoni pizza, and 2 Duval burgers with fries. Everything was beyond delicious. Absolutely no complaints.

Who knew you could get takeout breakfast in Downtown? Ordered online for a late morning breakfast bowl takeout! Oh my, so good. Potatoes are crispy and seasoned and bacon was perfectly cooked. Eggs were also cooked to a perfect over medium as requested. I would definitely order again and highly recommend it. I have ate here a few time before. Previously, I have gotten a burger or pizza. They were good but this breakfast was far better and I am definitely a breakfast person.

We haven’t even eaten our food and I’m already giving 5 stars! I’ve never been to an establishment where every single employee was so helpful and friendly. The service was UNBELIEVABLE!!! (And I’ve been in the service industry for over 20 years now). When visiting Jacksonville this is a must do! Get the sweet potato cheesecake!!!!

Just tried a burger at Jumpin' Jax... First impression was that it appeared to be a pre-formed (possibly frozen) patty, maybe not hand-pattied, relatively thin for a place that seems to specialize in burgers, and the grill marks were just sheer bitterness, it was all I could taste. In fact I'm certain that will be repeating on me all night. I was halfway through it and thought, "I never want to eat this burger again." The HOF chips were hard, not sure if that's normal or if they were stale. I did like the Cole Slaw, it was slightly sweet, slightly tangy and just a touch creamy, but very fresh. I know this place is pretty popular, so maybe we just got them on a bad day. 🤷‍♀️
