The Best Things Infatuation SF Writers Ate In August 2025 - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Yes, we waited 37 minutes for this matcha latte. Was it worth it? Absolutely. We’d walk the Crosstown Trail in Rainbows if it meant getting our hands on one of these lush, creamy drinks. The one with strawberry purée is the showstopper, but the mango holds its own." - patrick wong, julia chen 1, lani conway

Keith Lee Jumps Onto the Dallas Matcha Trend | Eater Dallas

"A Richardson matcha shop best known here for its matcha soft serve, which a high-profile influencer sampled from his car and described as matcha ice cream topped with matcha dust and cocoa nibs; he characterized the flavor profile as suited to people who don’t like very sweet treats and gave it an 8.2 out of 10." - Courtney E. I absolutely loved the matcha soft serve—it was such a refreshing and delicious treat! The flavor was spot on and definitely hit the spot. The only suggestion I have is to make sure the cup is filled all the way through. Mine had a pretty big gap in the middle, and for nearly $7, it would be nice to get a full serving. No hate at all—the soft serve itself was amazing, and I’ll definitely be coming back. Just a small tip to help make the experience even better!

I guess Junbi Matcha is known for its off serve. Particularly the way the serve the soft serve with numerous options. This location is in a strip mall, parking is not an issue. The venue is a decent size as well with sufficient seating inside. Interior was bright, clean and inviting. During my visit, place was staffed by teen...at least I think they were teens. The staff looked very young. Fast and efficient, no complaints. Junbi Matcha is a small chain with locations all across the country from Hawaii to New Jersey. I initially thought it was a small independent local mom & pop spot in Richardson. Alas I was wrong... When the Gods of Sugar call... #Matcha: ~ SOFT SERVE: MATCHA VANILLA SWIRL (w/ GUAVA PUREE & CACAO NIBS) - 4/5 This was my choice of sugar this evening. I can't say I've had a soft serve like this. Infusing my Soft Serve with a puree sounded strange to me, but it just worked. The puree does eventually overpower the Matcha and Vanilla flavor, but you get to taste and enjoy both flavors before that happens. I suggest enjoying some of the Soft Serve first before eventually mixing it all together for a completely different flavor.

Google
Came as soon as they opened. It was chill and then got PACKED real fast! And i can see why! The drinks are so delicious, love how many options there are (gives me several reasons to come back). The onigiri was AWESOME too and they have a 3 for 12 deal where you can try 3 different onigiri (rice balls). I got the golden peach matcha latte, and the girlies got manga matcha lattes. I speak for the three of us when I say they were delicious 😤

Google
Absolutely horrendous matcha soft serve. A steep $7 for such low quality matcha + icy and gritty in texture. It would be nice if Dallas had a Matcha Maiko location. If you want matcha soft serve in the Dallas area, just go to Somi somi. I am actually really glad I didn’t waste more money by ordering a drink. The experience was extremely disappointing. Will not return.

Google
One of my faves in the city for Matcha drinks! Dragonfruit Matcha is tasty or the matcha soft serve. Sometimes it can be a little sweet for me so I ask for less sugar. We tried the strawberry milk one - taste like a dessert!

Google
This was a new experience and I liked it! Considering these are made fresh and with natural ingredients, there was still some pretty good flavoring in these items. The service was good and although the waitress forgot our matcha powder, she quickly replaced it which is amazing! The environment itself is very inviting and helps you uplift your spirits, especially if you’re with friends!

Google
I really wanted to like this place, looking for matcha in Dallas, however currently living in Tokyo maybe my expectations were too high. They have lots of choices on the menu which I appreciated and went for a pure matcha with yuzu/dragonfruit. I got no sugar but the drink still tasted weird and sugary like matcha lemonade, I couldn’t drink much. I was just hoping for a pure matcha like you get in Japan but it’s near impossible to find any non sweet in Texas. Looks like the matcha lattes are popular and maybe it goes better with milk, I’ll probably come back to try one more time, maybe it’s just that sweet Texas matcha isn’t for me.

Google
The matcha vanilla swirl is absolutely amazing -perfectly balanced and super refreshing. The earthy flavor of the matcha with the creamy vanilla is just right, not too sweet and incredibly satisfying. You can tell they use quality ingredients, and the texture is always smooth. It's my favorite thing on the menu, hands down. Highly recommend stopping by if you're nearby!

Yelp
Junbi Matcha is hands down the BEST matcha spot in all of DFW! I've tried so many things on the menu and every single time it's a hit. My go-to is the strawberry matcha latte with boba and the matcha soft serve topped with boba and a drizzle of chocolate... absolute heaven in a cup. In the past, I've also tried the Madagascar vanilla, and honestly, no matter what you order here it's always delicious. Everything is smooth, never "grassy" like other matcha spots, and the boba is always fresh. I'll admit it, I go here way too often, but that just proves how good it is. If you're a matcha lover (or even if you're on the fence about it), this is the place to go!

Yelp
I was so excited to try Junbi because my brother took me by the one in Princeton, NJ and we never went in while we explored the area around the university. I bookmarked this one and kind of begged Eric R. to take an excursion with me to Mitsuwa and Junbi this afternoon. Funnily enough, as I wrote this review I saw I had previously taken photos here and it says it was my second check-in today, so now I realize I was here over two years go and forgot to remove it from my bookmarks! Eric R. is not into these types of drinks much, but he was a willing participant today. It was so hot, and when we walked in, Anne was kind and gave us lots of information and a free sample of our choice of flavors of soft serve! I had matcha and Eric R. had matcha and vanilla swirl. He ordered the blended hojicha with boba, and I got the yuzu dragonfruit green tea and a mentaiko onigiri. Anne also told me that the matcha is grown in Uji Japan at a tea farm owned by Junbi! There were two kinds of ceremonial matcha powder for sale, and I said YOLO and got the premium one to take home since I have been making matcha daily when I am back in Kansas. It was nice to be able to lessen the sweetener in drinks, and there are endless possibilities of things to try here when I can get back! (Two years ago I saw that I ordered a milky matcha unsweetened and also got a mentaiko onigiri! I guess I am consistent with the snack)!

Yelp
This review is long overdue--kind of like my library books, but here we are. I've been visiting Junbi for about a year now, and I think that qualifies me as a semiprofessional matcha consumer. The Hojicha lattes here are solid, but I'm a Matcha person through and through. That earthy, robust flavor speaks to my soul (and my caffeine dependent personality). I always go for the iced Matcha latte in the summer because it is creamy, refreshing, and made just right every time. This place gets bonus points for consistency! The inside of Junbi is clean, cozy, and ideal for couples, solo sippers, or a small group trying to escape the Texas heat with a matcha in hand. There are even a few tables out front if you're into fresh air and judgmental squirrels. Ordering is a breeze there's a kiosk if you want to avoid human interaction, but usually there's a friendly face at the register ready to take your order without judgment, even if it's your third visit that week. ;) Let's talk about the matcha ice cream: it's rich, creamy, and honestly kind of luxurious. I like to throw in some aloe bits because I live on the edge and also, it just tastes really good together. Now for my one teeny-tiny gripe: while the Hojicha is good, it doesn't quite hit peak freshness compared to another mystery café in Richardson I frequent (I won't name names, but they know who they are). Still, Junbi wins on convenience, friendliness, and that cheerful yellow décor that kind of makes you feel like everything's going to be okayyyy even if your latte budget says otherwise. Final verdict? Definitely recommend if you're in the area and craving a solid, creamy matcha fix or a Hojicha latte. Your taste buds will thank you, and so will your Instagram followers. (also, I'm sorry for not posting pictures. I always mean to, but the drinks and ice cream disappear wayyyy too fast. Oops).

Yelp
This place is great! I literally walk three days in a row... it's so far! =( Great quality of matcha!

Yelp
As a huge matcha & miffy lover I had to try this place after seeing all the pictures and videos on social media! It did not disappoint! They were out of the Miffy plushies, but it was still so cute inside. The drinks were amazing too :) I liked the variety they had on the menu, especially for the Miffy collab. I didn't get the chance to try the soft serve or rice items on the menu but will definitely be back to try.

Yelp
Very vibrant, positive-energy, matcha shop. Employees greet you with a smile and service is quick. We ordered an iced strawberry matcha and an iced guava matcha with oat milk. While the drinks were very good and a great size, the matcha amount did vary. My drink was SIGNIFICANTLY darker than my girlfriend's. Hers tasted more milky and mine was way more matcha forward which I loved. Her drink was 5 shades lighter than mine so .. drink consistency needs some work.

Yelp
First time here and I am highly impressed! We ordered the matcha vanilla soft serve with matcha dust and strawberry puree. Every spoonful was amazing. I'm definitely coming back to try other items on their menu!! also this place is super cute and the employees were very friendly!

Yelp
One of the most solid matcha places in north Dallas! They're always consistent with the quality of their drinks and service. Everything tastes fresh and light, and the well-lit interior makes it a decent spot to study at. It would be nice to have more seating, but it's still a solid location since there are some outlets available. I don't think it's a particularly mind-blowing spot, but there's definitely nothing to complain about! It's what you would expect from a popular matcha spot near a college campus, and I would recommend stopping by.
google avatar

Alissa A.

Yelp
the drinks have definitely gotten sweeter over the past few years, but they do offer non/less sweet modifications. my favorite is the mango matcha cold brew , made less sweet with no milk. delicious if you're a mango lover! the service was prompt and friendly, with some seating. the location felt clean and i'm wanting to come again soon to try the soft serve!
google avatar

Kaylianni B.

Yelp
Fairly busy on Saturday afternoon, service was quick and they have two additional ordering kiosks. Inside is pretty cute, bright and light and the restroom is clean and even had a bidet. I enjoyed my cold matcha with guava and boba but felt the guava almost made it too sweet since the boba itself was already sweet. So try adjusting the sweetness if you don't want it to overpower the drink. The matcha itself was very good, would like to come back and try a classic hot and cold version without boba. Matcha icecream was a bit icy but overall flavor profile was very potent and strong in a good way. Vanilla icecream was pretty sweet and guava was more sweet for an addition, more of a puree. Would try again, and would recommend.

Yelp
First time customer and will definitely return. A friend treated me to a yummy latte and it was honestly one of the best I've had in a while!
google avatar

Amrita J.

Yelp
Nice clean, location, staff was friendly and helpful. Love a good matcha, so that was what appealed to me. They have so many options, matcha ice cream, and other matcha focused snacks. I def want to come back and try some of the various matcha drinks. For this visit I got the strawberry matcha iced and it was good. The strawberry added a hint of sweetness, but wasn't so overly sweet and syrupy.
google avatar

Sameet R.

Yelp
Matcha lovers rejoice. Another great spot to get your matcha fix. I loved the Sakura Miffy collab. My sister got the mango match latte and it was definitely more intense in flavor compared to my Sakura matcha latte. I'll come back to try the affogato someday.
google avatar

Mel N.

Yelp
I live so far but I've lost count of how many times I've been here. I always always get the guava cold brew matcha and it's so good! I hope one day they bring back the Magic Matcha from all those years ago but I can only hope :'(. Employees are nice and helpful with suggestions, and there's a kiosk you can order from on the side as well. Drinks always come out super fast and the inside is always clean. It's a nice spot to just chill and hangout with your laptop. The drinks come in 100%, 75%, 50%, 25%, and I think 0% sweetness. I always get 100% but even with 50% sweetness it's still good!
google avatar

Patrick M.

Yelp
Junbi's matcha soft serve is amazing! The texture is super creamy, and the matcha flavor is rich without being too bitter. It's the perfect balance of sweet and earthy, and honestly so refreshing. Definitely my new go-to treat whenever I'm in the area!
google avatar

Victoria S.

Yelp
I love this place for a sweet treat! The soft serve matcha will have me definitely going back and it's a must try!! Went on the weekend and was not that busy, and they even have seating inside and out to enjoy your matcha.
google avatar

Lynn T.

Yelp
Cute decor. Fast service able to order with the worker or the 2 diy machine on the side. Everything looks so good but decided to get Their miffy special with lychee is so good! And mango matcha was good. Everything was delicious and will definitely be back to try other drinks!
google avatar

Yelp
We arrived on a Saturday around 5 p.m. and found a table after ordering. The interior is small with colorful décor. We ordered a matcha affogato and a flight of rice balls (salmon, mentaiko, and snow crab). The food arrived quickly. The matcha affogato was delicious, not sweet with creamy matcha soft serve on an icy matcha base. The rice balls were average, a bit salty, not much filling, and each had a lot of rice. My favorite filling was the snow crab.
google avatar

Nancy H.

Yelp
I visited Junbi for the first time in a while, I think last time I visited this place was when I was in college a few years ago. Today I got the matcha cold brew with strawberry and boba and I thought it was pretty decent. The matcha flavor is there without feeling too watered down and the strawberry compliments it well. To order here you can either order at the counter or at one of the kiosks on the side. My drink came out pretty quickly after ordering! As for the space, it seems like a lot of college students come here to study and hang out so it's a great place nearby UT Dallas campus!

Yelp
Seasonal Golden Peach Matcha Cold Brew.. Soft serve matcha.. Cold Strawberry Matcha Latte w/ Oat Milk extra $1.25 (bit pricey for a splash tho) but overall it is good
google avatar

Niraja S.

Yelp
One of the most extensive menus I've even seen at a matcha spot. The guava matcha latte is so refreshing, and service is really quick. There's ample seating inside to enjoy your beverage!
google avatar

Anjelica N.

Yelp
The sea salt caramel banana matcha was so yummy!! This was their seasonal flavor I believe and I just had to try it cause I LOVE banana. This definitely hit the spot! If you're able to try this flavor I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
google avatar

Ethan L.

Yelp
I got the matcha latte and it was delicious. It had a distinct matcha flavor and sweetness. The service was great and our drinks were ready shortly after placing it. You can order at the kiosk or with a bobarista. The establishment is aesthetically decorated but fairly small. Seating was fairly limited inside but they do have some outdoor seating as well.
google avatar

Meghan M.

Yelp
I tried the cold Madagascar vanilla matcha latte with taro and it was incredible! The barista was prompt and did a great job making it. I didn't stick around, but looked like there was a lot of tables and outlets for folks dining in. Definitely on the pricier side for drinks, but everything was one size from what I remember and that size is basically equivalent to a venti. Would definitely come back!
google avatar

Truc L.

Yelp
Very delicious matcha dessert. They have a lot of options. We picked match soft serve with boba which is tasty of match and perfectly cooked bob; the matcha latte is very nice taste as well. Nice and clean shop with fancy Japanese toilet. Good customer service.
google avatar

Brandon D.

Yelp
I've been to junbi quite a bit of times and can definitely say that they use premium matcha here. It was one of their employees birthdays so you get a discount if you say happy birthday ______ to the cashier. This is a nice little spot near UTD campus where you can go study at. I got the strawberry matcha latte. You could tell the strawberry was fresh and the drink overall is good. I'm just not a fruit drink person in general. My go to is the vanilla madagascar matcha.
google avatar

Yelp
I love a good matcha, so of course I came to visit and try this place out! Ordered a strawberry matcha latte and a vanilla matcha latte. Having Boba Guys in the San Francisco Bay Area, I was really missing a good strawberry matcha and I think Junbi is a great competitor. Great flavor and consistency of the matcha, strawberry jam added the sweetness without being overpowering. Great drink overall. My friend enjoyed the vanilla matcha latte that I got for him; that one is on the less sweet side though. Interior is so cute and has a decent amount of seating. Staff were friendly and provided fast service. Located in a plaza, so parking was relatively easy to find.

Katie M.

Yelp
First time here (with my repeat customer daughter) and I loved it. Went with vanilla soft serve w/cocoa dust and granola- perfection. Next time I'll beach out with the swirl of matcha and vanilla with a fruit puree. Ambiance was chill, we ordered on iPads and order was called quickly. Check out the bathroom for a fun surprise. Will be back soon!!
google avatar

Melinda S.

Yelp
I was a FANGIRL of Junbi ... but after several horrible experiences, I stopped going. I wrote a long negative review and vowed never to go back! Today, a group of friends decided this was our vibe. I reluctantly went along and didn't say a word. I ordered my favorite Madagascar Vanilla Latte (omg, I have missed that drink) LoL. Seeing new faces and machines working again was refreshing, and the customer service was excellent. I'm thrilled to return and update my Yelp review to reflect that Junbi is amazing!
google avatar

Grace I.

Yelp
i've been here a couple times before, but today i wanted to drop in with their miffy x junbi collaboration!! the matcha was super yummy, and the portion sizes are huge. loved the speedy service, the baristas are super friendly!! very cute place, but the music is SO loud (lol) and can be a little cramped with students and whatnot, so if you're looking for something a little more spacious and has more seating, it might not be the most opportune place for that.

Kelsea S.

Yelp
I have never been the kind of person to leave a review because i have worked in food service and the coffee industry for years. So i always give the benefit of the doubt. This time i feel the need to share my experience. When i came in there was only one couple who had already ordered. I was looking at their menu and spotted a Yuzu dragon fruit cold brew or something and i wanted to try that with matcha instead. So when i ordered i asked if i could do match instead of cold brew, and i was hit with a look of confusion and was told " We don't really do that with matcha because the fruits syrups don't mix well with the milk" Now i know that fruit syrups will curdle dairy products. So i asked to do it with oat milk and our interaction was pretty much over after that. Whatever i looked past it. About two groups of three people came in after me and ordered after me. And yet i waited about 15-20 minutes for my one drink. While the two groups of people who got there after me got all of their drinks before me. There were three people working so i am a bit disappointed with how long it took for the drinks to be served. The matcha was good quality but the employees need some work. my drink was for to go.
google avatar

Vidhi P.

Yelp
As a matcha lover I really liked Junbi! I loved how many options were available. The shop is cute and easy to park at. I tried the Rose matcha and it was delicious. I will definitely stop by to try out the other matcha options on the menu!
google avatar

Johnathan T.

Yelp
cute interior, yummy drinks, place is kind of small though so it can get crowded fast especially on the weekends.
google avatar

Andrew H.

Yelp
DELICIOUS!!!! Will definitely be returning. Honestly loved the matcha here and would definitely recommend doing less sugar as it is pretty sweet. The restaurant is a great spot to study and super colorful and beautiful. The waiter was super quick and nice. My go-to matcha spot.
google avatar

Mia P.

Yelp
One word to describe Junbi matcha is SO GOOD (actually 2 words) . It's so hard to find good quality matcha in the dfw area and has by far beat all the other matcha competitions nearby. Their matcha tins are great quality and affordable allowing their customers to enjoy matcha at home! The customer service and diversity is great! And i come here every week and will recommend to my matcha lovers here in TX:) Blessings, Mia .p
google avatar

Lily Q.

Yelp
They have a wide selection of flavored matcha milk teas, which can be fun. There are also cold brews and small snacks you can grab. The ambiance is nice and there's a bunch of cute decorations scattered throughout the place. They do charge $1.25 if you swap the dairy with oat milk, which is a bit pricey in my opinion. I ended up paying $10 for a strawberry matcha latte, so overall, this shop is a bit more expensive than other boba shops I've been to.
google avatar

Bianca T.

Yelp
I'm from the SF bay area and I'm so sad we don't have a Junbi Matcha here! I've had it while visiting Portland and LA in the past, and had wonderful drinks so I knew I needed to stop by here. I rarely see guava offered on boba shop's menus, so I got the guava matcha. It did not disappoint! It was so good. The quality of the matcha is amazing. I was a bit sad that they ran out of boba when I got there. They said it would take another 20 minutes to cook but I really needed to grab the drink and go. I'm sure the boba would've been good, so no stars deducted. The store itself is super cute with some matcha powder and products displayed against the walls. The colors of the walls are also so inviting and fun!
google avatar

Kenya R.

Yelp
Customer service was superb! I stopped in because I heard they had matcha lemonade. Sadly it's a summer drink, so they don't have it yet. The owner, Tony helped me pick a replace, yuzu dragon fruit matcha. It was for my daughter, and she liked it! I was craving a coffee drink, but they sell tell, so he recommended the black tea. I told him I didn't want it too sweet, so he suggested 1oz of sweetener. It was perfect and didn't raise my blood sugar. They made a drink in error and he gave it to me for free. I gave that to my husband who enjoyed it. I can't say enough about the customer service. I will return based on that alone, but also for the drinks. It's a cute spot too.
google avatar

Yelp
The soft swerve is to die for!!! The cold brew drinks don't actually have coffee in it just fyi. Very strong matcha taste
google avatar

Yelp
We left one star for nice service and another for the amazing soft serve, but the drinks were so watered down...I don't understand the hype.

Yelp
Amazing matcha yogurt and drinks . presentation was very nice and atmosphere was nice and quiet . We enjoyed it with the family

Yelp
Service 10/10 We met the owner the first time we came & she was so sweet & such a gem. she actually took time to talk to us and was just so sweet. We wish her & Junbi much success! The second time we went, another girl was just so sweet & kind. We frequent the city of industry location quite often at home and so when we were visiting Dallas, we had to get Junbi & we're just so blown away by the service. The drinks were delicious as always! This location is pretty spacious, tons of seating and seems like a great place to meet with friends or to go do some work.

Yelp
Not your typical boba joint! Their specialty is matcha soft serve. Don't be afraid to experiment! The drinks are surprisingly well matched and the soft serve goes with much more of the flavors than I expected. I thought i was going out on a limb ordering the fresca (matcha with strawberry puree) but it went together beautifully. It had my questioning reality and how many other items matcha can go with. My friend had ordered some fruit puree with soft serve matcha with cacao nibs and i honestly thought it was very frankensteiny but it wasnt. It really did work. Service was on point! Cute, casual set up. Price point is on par with other boba places. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Talina L.

Yelp
A friend recommended I try Junbi. As soon as I walked in the door, I loved the simple decor. It looks and feels clean and fresh. The menu had so many options for matcha, it was hard to pick one. The staff was very helpful so I was not disappointed in my selection. Fresh ingredients and refreshing flavors. I look forward to going back again!
google avatar

Fatima C.

Yelp
Bright decor, nice tables and seats and aesthetics! I ordered the salmon onigiri which was the most flavorful one I've tried. I believe I tasted furikake in it which was yummy. Would definitely be ordering this again. I do wish it was bigger for the price ($3-4) as usual onigiri is bigger at other places. The matcha drink was also good and refreshing. If you are looking for a matcha based drink thats sweet (can be modified) and has no dairy in it, this is a great option. I didn't need the boba as an add-in at all! I can't wait to come back and try the milky drinks and the blended drinks. A little too loud to "wfh" here but I did come on the weekend so your experience might be different if you do come during the week. Parking is ample in the strip mall with quite a few food places around.
google avatar

Yelp
If you are matcha lover this place is a MUST TRY!!!! They have so many amazing matcha drink options to choose for. The ice cream is a must try. I have been taking so many of my friends to try the ice cream and even those who don't like matcha love it! It's an amazing place to study at as well.

Yelp
I love Junbi and am a frequent customer at the Rowland Heights/City of Industry location in California. When my wife told me they had a location near by, we had to go check it out. Its located in this plaza that has tons of eateries to check out, which I hope to check out next time we visit the area. This Junbi is really big compared to my usual location. Service was really good. The owner was so nice, very welcoming and bubbly. Our order actually got paid by another customer because she said that someone paid for her order so she wanted to return the favor and pass it on. Which was so nice and so unexpected. The drinks were delicious as always and we were really happy to see this spot flourishing. Wishing them nothing but great things going forward. Would definitely hang out here and meet up with friends. Tons of seating areas and outside as well.
