The Best Restaurants in New Orleans’s Bywater Neighborhood | Eater New Orleans

"Burgers and beer. That’s the grand sum of it at this friendly neighborhood pub, which features 40 brews on tap and serves darn good 100 percent grass-fed, hormone-free ground beef on a soft brioche bun. Carnivores will love Junction’s specialty burgers like the Vermonter, with applewood smoked bacon, white cheddar, grilled apple, and a creamy maple sauce; or the Kansas City Southern, in which a brown sugar and cayenne laced patty is topped with yellow cheddar, grilled onions and mushrooms, and barbecue sauce. A black bean patty or fried cod fillet round out the non-beef options." - Beth D’Addono

Our group of 4 sat in a spacious high-booth (1/2 booth 1/2 high-bar chairs) & was served by a super sweet & efficient waitress!! This place is roomy, clean & has a spacious open floor set up 👍🏼 Over 25 flat screen TV's line the entire upper wall to ceiling area (think crown molding but with TVs) showing various channels/networks/games. The bar is a giant U shape directly center with the entrance. We appreciated the lively vibe & noticed folks of ALL life stages dining enjoying their time! I highly recommend this spot for any reason one sees fit. Food is nicely proportioned & service truly is efficient/swift!

Google
Spacious restaurant in east county that accepts big parties. The variety of their menu is very good that satisfies most of people’s expectations The portions are also very good that makes you ask for the to go box . Perfect for sports watching as the atmosphere is electric there we booked private rooms and they were flexible with us with the times as we had it for three hours and they accepted separate checks Thank you

Google
Great local bar and restaurant. Service is excellent and all the staff or always very helpful. Doesn’t hurt that they have more TVs than Best Buy! Go watch a game and have a drink. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with this East County gem!

Sundays, they have the ribeye special which was cooked and seasoned well. Teriyaki chicken kabob was juicy and flavorful.

I don't usually venture to El Cajon but a friend wanted to meet there & I'm so glad they did, sorry no pictures but here is the scoop; Happy hour all the time, many delicious appetizers to choose from. I picked Rib Tips & got a well served & tasty order of beef ribs tips. Pot stickers were delicious. There was also a Wing Special so I ordered 6 garlic parmesan wings. I had a small house salad which was stacked w goodies. We shared ribeye steak bites, pre-cut steak in bite sized pieces in delicious juice. Our friends had tacos & loaded carne Asada nachos. Everything was delicious. They have a full beer menu & bar. TVs all around to watch your favorite team. Definitely a place to go back to. Huge dining areas w big tables & bar seating. Great spot & worth the drive.

Google
We used to love this spot. in the past year or so there's has been a new "manager" Peter, short guy who makes my family feel very uncomfortable. He comes over to our table with an attitude like we should kiss his rings multiple times a meal. I've seen him literally yelling at the staff in a scary manor, always the women. food is still pretty good but we never have a relaxing time when Peter is there.

Google
The food and service were good, and I had no complaints. We had a party of 10, and there were no mistakes. Nobody went empty on drinks or anything like that. However, for me, while I love to watch sports and have a few drinks and eat, I also want to be able to hear the person next to me, and I could not do that here. The music playing was so loud. That would have been fine during bar hours, but at 5:30 in the evening, it seemed a little much. I also wish that as a shorter person, they would have had some lower tables, but that is okay.

Google
The service is the best place about Jamacha Junction by far. I ordered the ribeye steak bites and they were far from what I expected. The meat was tough and if I had not been with my son-in-laws family, I would have complained. It was an Easter gathering and for that reason I was not about to make a big deal about my meal. I will never go back if I get to choose the place to eat. I know much better places to get wonderful ribeye meat and this is not the place!! It said it was served with a side of au jus and the steak was sitting in it, not the way to serve meat. The juice slopped out all over my bread as it was being served so I had soggy bread. The creamy horse radish was nice and had a bite to it. I ordered mine with blue cheese crumbles and sauteed mushrooms, however the crumbles were melted by the time I saw my steak so it was hard to see. Overall it was far below my expectations and I would never order this from this restaurant. Most of my party left a lot of their food on their plate and didn't bother to take it home. I didn't ask how their meals were, but I have eaten with this crowd before and they are hardy eaters, so this tells me something. I give Jamacha Junction an overall 3 and a half star rating at best for tonights performance.

Yelp
I really do like Junction Bar & Grill, but I have two complaints. 1) they no longer take phone orders. I don't mind ordering online and generally prefer it. But there are times that it's not at all convenient and now it's not possible. 2) The side garlic bread is straight up nasty. And a single slice is $1.50. My wife and I each had one bite and threw it away. I'll continue to dine in and carry out, but

Yelp
This is 100% the typical East County bar and Grill. You have to love this place because many of us grew up going here or had friends that worked here and hooked it up. The food is really delicious, we went for breakfast recently and everything was super good. The servers are super nice, but they can make that bloody Mary a little stronger. Let's go baby.
google avatar

Yelp
Catching up. April 6th took wife, one of my daughters and granddaughter to the Junction on Jamacha for breakfast. For whatever reason they have stepped it up. The service was outstanding and had great flavor and was deliver hot and tasty. The ambiance as always is as a sports bar. breakfast is only on Saturday and Sundays.
google avatar

Yelp
Friendly staff. Good drinks. Lots of food choices. Come here at least once a week and love it every time. Try out the specials! Shout out to Loren, Alex, Steve. Great bartenders!

Yelp
Thanks to"The Junction", I can say one thing about Wednesday's, it's a good day for some chicken wings. Especially, if you have a taste for six flavors: Buffolo, BBQ, Sweet Red Chili, Mango Habanero, Lemon Pepper, and don't for the Garlic. All are very tasty, so if your in mood for some fried wings. Know that "The Junction" does have both types of chicken (bonless and/ or bone-in-wings. If you haven't gone, checkout the quality, value, service, and the atmosphere. The Junction" is located in the "Washington plaza" . They have different advertised specials on certain days throughout the week days. These are the three advertised specials that I saw...they could have more (see attached pictures). The service is pretty fast, the music is good, there are a lot of T.V's, and parking was decent. Expect to spend say $50 - $60 for two.

Yelp
My go to place for good food, drink and sports! Wide range of menu options, all good, but the pizza is great!
google avatar

Janelle R.

Yelp
Came for my father in laws birthday and our server, Hala, was amazing! She went above and beyond and was so sweet and attentive. The food was good, but would come back just for her great service!
google avatar

Rachele K.

Yelp
Always a lovely time here ! Tried the Teremania tequila today and watched the football games ! Had the Hammy for breakfast today ! Good food . Had the toasted avocado yesterday. And of course the service is always good here ! Fun sports bar but nice ambiance more than a bar they succeeded on making it breed then BWW ! Time to watch the next UFC fight here !

Lauren G.

Yelp
Love the junction, BUT they need shades. It suck in the early evening with the sun. They make enough money they should get shades. Ps Steve and Alex are great
google avatar

Marielena V.

Yelp
Make sure to get your pizza extra crispy and you're set. The micheladas are a must here! Wish I had a picture to add

Yelp
I've been here multiple times but this is my first time reviewing. Every item I have picked so far has been yummy. My favorite has been the tequila lime pasta. It is a big portion and had to take most of it to go. They have multiple tvs and plenty of parking. Inside is pretty big and this would be a good place to watch the game. Service was fast and the servers are always attentive.
google avatar

Yelp
This is always a typical meeting spot for me and my friends. The place is huge so there is never a wait, the staff are very efficient and friendly. If you are into sports games they have a ton playing on the surrounding TV's. All of the food I've had is delicious from the salads to the sandwiches. They have incredible beers on tap too!
google avatar

Z P.

Yelp
I have to admit this place has come a long way over the years. We come here at least 1-2 a month now as a family and we've have rarely had something we didn't enjoy! Prices and services is great! I love that they constantly add new items to their menu without taking away other popular things. I personally love their salads. Every single one is delicious. Also, the fish tacos are pretty good! My husband loves their burgers and their steaks! And all the appetizers are delicious. Be sure to take advantage of their daily specials!

Yelp
Great place for a beer. Service is key here. Food is ok. Eat before coming here. Happy hour deals are ok. I spent $6 on the chips. Thought they could add more...but it is what it is. Normal chips and salsa same you get in Old Town for free, but not here.
google avatar

Maria F.

Yelp
Had dinner her Saturday night October 26, 2024. The waitress was friendly but wasn't well versed with some of the beer and menu items. I asked for an amber bear and she didn't know what that was so I went with a Blue Moon. The prices seemed reasonably until the bill came $94 for two meals, three beers, a taco and an appetizer. The portion sizes were adequate except the taco which she said was large. Had fish and chips, burger meal, a fish taco and brussel sprouts. Didn't take pictures.

Yelp
Restaurant and bar located in Rancho San Diego. Parking is quite tricky, lots of different establishments in the area. The inside is very spacious, lots of tv to watch whatever your liking is, very relaxed atmosphere. The service was so-so our waitress seemed to forget about us, wasn't too busy and most individuals were sitting at bar with separate waitresses. The food was just okay, it's bar food for sure. I would come back if I was planning on drinking and eating. For a meal alone I'd rather go to another establishment.
google avatar

Berto H.

Yelp
This place is pretty good if you need a variety of different options. I think the wings here are really good. Also a perfect place to watch and sport events and they also do have UFC fights and Boxing matches. Service is quick and friendly.

Yelp
If we can grab lunch and a few drinks and get out under $100, then we're happy. We did just that at Junction Bar and Grill in Rancho San Diego. Really cool spot to see your favorite sporting event on TV. They have TVs mounted everywhere. We were there with two other couples for beer, bread and baseball, except none of us actually got bread (okay pita bread). We grabbed a tall table against the wall that had great sightlines to the Padres game. We were promptly greeted by a very sweet and cute Ashlyn, our server. Let me tell you, Ashlyn was on point for our entire stay. Excellent service. Between the six of us we ordered potato skins ($11), pork pot stickers ($7), hummus plate ($9), carne asada taco in a lettuce wrap ($4.75). The pot stickers and hummus were from the every-day, all-day Happy Hour menu. The potato skins were very good. Cheddar and jack cheeses, bacon and chives served with sour cream and ranch dressing. We asked for Cholula as well. Becky prefers a bit less potato in her skins, I thought that they had just the right amount. I prefer them a bit potato-y. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the pot stickers were excellent. Little puffs filled with pork served with a really good sesame-based dipping sauce. For 7 bucks? A bargain. I did not sample the hummus, but our friends really liked it. The pita was not crispy as some places serve it and that was a bonus. The plate included a pile of Kalamata olives and chunks of Feta cheese. Our friend who had the carne asada taco loved it. She didn't want a tortilla, so Ashlyn highly recommended the lettuce wrap. She said that she orders it that way so our friend followed suit and loved it. She was still talking about the next day. Three couples all with meals and plenty of drinks. All three were out of there under a hundo. Junction is a cool spot. We'll be back.

Yelp
Met with 2 other ladies 4pm last Friday. Got a table right away. Bar seating looked full but many open tables at this time. I found parking but my other two friends had a difficult time. Waitress very attentive from the start. Brought 3 waters before my friends arrived. Once all were there, my friends both ordered the fish and chips special and I ordered one fish taco, as I had had a big lunch. Food delivered fairly quickly. My fish taco was delicious with pico de gallo, cabbage, cilantro and cheese. My friends both loved their fish and chips. I ended up eating a piece of their fish and some fries. The fish was very lightly battered, not greasy. The fries were light and crispy. Good size portions. One friend had a glass of white wine, while myself and the other friend stuck with water/lemon to drink. We chatted for awhile as the place filled up and as we left around 5:30 there were several couples waiting at the door to be seated. A popular neighborhood place, that I suggest if you live close, to walk to because parking is tight, although you could park across the busy street in the CVS lot. I will return again to try out their other daily specials.

Yelp
I'm pretty happy about their new location. I tried the old location before and both my husband and I were not impressed. Especially the Fish & Chips are so tiny, but we ordered different things this time, which are French dip, wedge salad and bread sticks. It was very nice. I also love the atmosphere here. Probably we will come back here.
google avatar

Talia N.

Yelp
I called them back and ask why this happen and they were able to take my girlfriends reservations after all.

A.J. L.

Yelp
Food was average, but no refills on drinks and waitress couldn't keep with the amount of people she was serving. I will not be coming back. Extremely disappointing.
google avatar

Cirwan S.

Yelp
It was taco Tuesday and I was feeling some tacos. Me and my wife shared 3 tacos, nachos, and wings the atmosphere was great, lots of TVs for sporting events. The nachos had nacho cheese which I love. The honey siracha wings were a flavor everyone needs to get. My server was great and friendly and did a great job of explaining the menu

Yelp
This place has good food whether it's jampacked or empty. The food is fairly priced and so are the cocktails. The wait staff is friendly and they allow you to enjoy hanging out at the restaurant/bar as long as you like. This is a great place to bring a group! It's really fun when they have life bands as well it will be a packed house for sure. It can be rather dead on weeknights which works for girls night out or a group. It is also very family friendly and people bring children. It's a very large open restaurant. It is also pretty loud inside, so you can't hear a fussing child or a loud group.
google avatar

Victoria W.

Yelp
Do not order fish and chips, it's frozen Costco fish filets and frozen fries. Over priced place with rude staff
google avatar

Lester B.

Yelp
Waltzed into the Junction Bar & Grill for some victuals and football last night. Not my first time as this legendary slop joint never disappoints. A vast extensive menu that will tickle the most finicky eaters. We had our fill of tasty tacos, Caesar salad, and plump robust chicken wings. All were brought to our table freshly prepared by an efficient professional wait staff. The cocktails were mighty and strong. More than plenty of televisions for any patron's viewing pleasure. The space is large, airy and comfortable. The front of the house is manned by friendly, welcoming greeters that consistently place guests in the best seats. Truly a pleasure to visit this establishment. Another valid reason to, "defend east county." Stoner Grub Ranking: 9.0

Yelp
First time eating here. Its a sports bar. They have 1000 tv's!! Anyway drinks were cheap and strong! Food was decent. Service was good. I would go there again

Yelp
Shout out to Kayli! She provided the best customer service for my DoorDash order. Loving our food!

Yelp
I'm giving this establishment 2 stars based solely on the fact the food and drinks were great! The Service was terrible and we left being confronted by a gang of men including the general manager in the parking lot because they were not happy with constructive criticism. We went to the bar/restaurant as it's our friends favorite, she lives in the area and is a regular at this establishment. Our not friendly waitress was slow to take our order, bring out drinks & food which wasn't really an issue since we were enjoying our time socializing, our "local" friend said this was unusual and that she had never seen the waitress before that day. When our check came we went looking to pay the bill and walked up to the check in desk to take care of the bill, we observed 4 other guests credit cards sitting in trays right by the front door, the girl proceeded to take our credit card in the back to process our payment and was gone for about 5 minutes while we stood at the front desk wondering why she wasn't using the credit card machine at the front desk. We paid our check and shared our concern with credit cards being left alone by the front desk and our comments were not well received. She proceeded to tell the general manager and he had all his kitchen staff and back up muscle go out front and were smoking cigarettes to the right, left and across the parking lot making their presence known. The manager then proceeded to confront us about our concerns with anger and an arrogance dismissing our comments and concerns. We voiced our concerns and were left feeling intimidated and not respected. I will never return to this establishment ever and others should be warned for the safety of your credit and physical well being, it's not a safe place.
google avatar

Rami H.

Yelp
I have been to Junction Bar and Grill twice with friends. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. A good place to go watch sport games with friends as they have a nice big seating area with tvs everywhere. They also serve food. I like their appetizers, specially the spicy chicken tenders. Burgers on the other hand are not so tasty. Plenty of free parking spots.
google avatar

Mike P.

Yelp
We were there today. The server was nice but the service sucked. I think she was overwhelmed, since the owner is to cheep to add more servers. My problem is, I was charged a large party / auto gratuity of 20%. Our party was 5 people and a 2 year old. WOW, really. I tipped the server 20% more, because, dummy me, trust people. Lesson learned. Never going back.
google avatar

Serena A.

Yelp
Who manages this place ? I'd really like to know. The customer service was bad the first time I was there, but i figured I'd give it another try and what do you know it still sucked. Waitress not knowledgeable of the menu, she had to let me know she was new. It's ok to be new but id have my employees study the menu before I place them on the floor. Waiter forgot the bbq sauce , had to go walk and find my waitress cause she never checked on us. Plates never got cleared, she forgot our drinks and when the busser came out to finally remove my plates his exact words were "Are you done with your rabbit food" like who ask that? Considering he was overweight he could benefit from some "rabbit food" himself! Never again ....will I eat here! Two strikes your out!
google avatar

Yelp
Food is good Service is better Ambiance is sometimes better than other times. It can be very loud .
google avatar

serina c.

Yelp
A solid choice for bar food and to watch sporting events. Food comes out fairly quickly and service is on point. Most food our group ordered was pretty good. Can't go wrong with wings, potatoe skins, a shrimp appetizer that isn't on the menu but I guess everyone knows what it is, tequila pasta, and beef sliders. Only thing ordered that wasn't that good was the French dip.

Rhonda R.

Yelp
The Junction Bar & Grill is awesome. Everyone there works really hard, they are friendly and do a great job. Now Peter the manager, he is wonderful. He always has a smile, he makes sure all the customers are taken care of. If you want to watch something else on one of the many TV screens, Peter will definitely change the station for you so that you can watch what you want to watch. He is a great manager there at the Junction. That's my favorite place. The food is amazing. From Rhonda. :)

Yelp
Kirsten is an amazing server . She really made out experience lovely . The other servers are also very attentive and great . The restaurant is super cute and it is coveted in tv screens . I love coming here during the football season . The energy of the customers is really fun and electric . The food is good . We love their seared ahi tuna appetizer. Wow it's amazing . I also love their burgers . They are cooked to perfection. This is a fave El Cajon spot .

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night to meet up cousins and I had a great time! The place was packed and I didn't even know it existed. The food was amazing. The drinks were on point. I got the tequila lime pasta with blackened chicken and there was so much flavor. The pasta sauce had an amazing light creamy spicy flavor with lime in it. The blackened chicken was spiced just enough, and was tender. My dirty martini was served in a chilled martini glass was three olives, and was very refreshing. Customer service was amazing. I can't remember the name of our waitress but she was great! Very attentive and sweet! The bathrooms are also very clean, which is a plus.

Tom L.

Yelp
Been coming here for a few years now, and as much as I don't want to blow up my spot, I have to give major credit to Loren and Sarah. Best service, great food, friendly and always fun while taking care of business. Sincerely, Tom. #extracherrysLoren!

Yelp
Sports bar all the way! No glitz and glam here. It's a loud, kick back and enjoy spot. Sooooo many tvs lined the walls. It was a full house on Friday night about 6:30. You see large families with young kids, friends hanging out and couples. Looks like it caters to everyone. We were quoted 25 min wait but it was actually 10 mins! There is no drink menu. You won't get any specialty drinks here. They do have a full bar and can make whatever you want. Drinks are inexpensive and pretty strong. I ordered a LIIT and finished half. We ordered mozzarella sticks. Very good. They didn't give much marinara sauce though. I enjoyed my chicken wings. The price was sooooo much better than other wing spots in SD. Not much dipping sauce given here either but they were cool about bringing more. It comes with celery and carrots. I just didn't want it. My one wtf moment was seeing random lettuce on my cheesestick plate. I think it's supposed to be decorative but it's really not. They should just omit if not fully committed to pretty plating. It looked like someone already ate off my plate and just passed it around. Obviously I know that didn't happen but it's a sports bar! We didn't come for pretty plating so don't waste lettuce. My husband ordered fish and chips. He said it was good. Great portion size too! Dessert wasn't bad. No menu but have 4 basic options: Cheesecake, carrot cake, chocolate cake and tirimusu. We ordered cheesecake and chocolate cake. Neither were the best I ever had but definitely good slices of cake. Our waitress was super busy and yet very accommodating, quick and kind. You saw zero stress from here. She just went from table to table and took care of everyone. I'd go back!
google avatar

Jeffry B.

Yelp
I just love this place! It's like a nice dive bar. Probably has the highest rate of TVs per square foot of anyplace I've ever been.

Yelp
Gabby our server knocked it out of the park!! What a great server she is!!! Everything was great!! We had a little Christmas Party.. And thanks to Gabby and her awesome customer service excellence, we had the best time ever!! Kudos to the bartender that made the best Dirty Martini I've had since Dallas 5 years ago.. Thank you Junction!! And thank you Gabby for knocking it out of the park and being such a fun server!! Jerry

Yelp
The Junction is a great place to eat lunch or dinner at, the Service is great, but when it comes to breakfast, they need a lot of help, I am a regular for dinner five nites a week, and tried breakfast. I ordered chicken Fried steak, two eggs over medium with country style potatoes, chicken fried steak small portions, eggs spot on potatoes cold, sausage gravy very bland. The sad part is they can do better, their dinners prove that.

Jamee C.

Yelp
This is a sports bar that also has a decent food selection and is family friendly. Went recently for their Prime Rib Thursday special. All very good and cooked perfectly but beware of the surcharge for a "loaded" baked potatoes. It will add 10% to the cost of your meal. This is not noted anywhere on the menu and the server didn't warn us that it was extra when she offered it. This is not the first time we fell into their potato trap.
