I used to like the junction, back in the ole days. But I need to be real, and stop lying to myself and others. They've gone down the sh*tter, and it's a damn shame.
I feel that the quality of the food has gone down considerably. Whether the burgers will be juicy or dry is always a gamble nowadays.
What truly has led me to vow never to return, however, are the prices.
For instance, the 'central Vermont' burger was $10.50 in 2015, now it is $14. Yes, I am a cheap bastard, but I think a 33% price hike is considerable.
Even more outrageously priced are the beers. One of my favorite local brews, Jucifer IPA, is $8 per pint! Compare that to my preferred local dive bar, J&J's, which serves that same beer, on draft, at $3,50/pint.
As for service, it's still good although I miss Paul. The current main bartender, Mick, is a fine lad but gets into grumpy moods and then puts on really loud music on the jukebox, disabling any potential for conversations for intermittent 10 minute periods.
So in other words, Junction has sunken to the kind of place that one would expect in the French Quarter, the sort that offers mediocre overpriced food and booze but does well anyway because of tourists. However, instead of a tourist trap, it's a locals trap.
