Deep Ellum’s Junction Craft Kitchen Shutters | Eater Dallas

"Opened under its current identity less than a year before closing, this Deep Ellum eatery was sold in November to Cody Neathery by Casie Caldwell and underwent changes — including a back-room speakeasy aimed at capturing the neighborhood’s bar traffic — that ultimately didn’t stick. Owners described the operation as a “sinking ship” in a Facebook post, saying the positive changes came too late despite efforts to stay afloat and keep staff employed through the holidays. The final months were turbulent and controversial: chef Josh Harmon abruptly resigned in late January citing philosophical differences, explaining that his seasonally driven, farm-based approach with menu rotations every two months became a hassle for the new ownership. The shutdown was abrupt and has prompted requests for further details." - Amy McCarthy

Why Josh Harmon Walked Away From His Critically-Acclaimed Restaurant | Eater Dallas

"A critically acclaimed neighborhood restaurant known for a chef-driven focus on fermentation and bold flavor fusions, the kitchen relied heavily on locally sourced produce and small producers and often changed its menu every two months to follow farms and seasons. Limited cold storage led the team to preserve ingredients as pickles, hot sauces and other ferments, and the staff produced housemade staples such as American cheese, mustard, vinegar, miso and fish sauce. Tensions arose when a new partner pushed for a pivot toward a more nightlife-friendly “bar with food” model and larger, centralized suppliers, and the head chef ultimately left amid a disputed, emotional split that he says was necessary to protect his creative approach and techniques." - Alaena Hostetter

Chef Joshua Harmon Is Leaving Junction Craft Kitchen [Updated] | Eater Dallas

"Chef Joshua Harmon initially announced via a lengthy Instagram post that he was stepping down from his position, criticizing a move toward “more of a neighborhood bar driven menu” and saying the team had tried things that sometimes “made us scratch our heads.” He wrote, “If I’m not making you think while you eat then I failed you. I failed me and my team,” explaining it would not make sense to continue cooking without pushing for that creative void. The post was later deleted; a restaurant representative told Eater that Harmon is not leaving but will take a month-long consulting gig with an out-of-town restaurant group, while Harmon described his status as “taking a step away to do something else.”" - Amy McCarthy

Came here a year ago, and all I could think about was the hot and sweet chicken sandwich. Seriously couldn’t stop thinking about it. It has the perfect spicy to sweet ratio, the right amount of tang and richness from the sauce, and the arugula to feel better about yourself 😉. The regular spicy chicken sandwich was not bad, along with the fries but I thought they weren’t as good as the hot and sweet sandwich. Originally came here for the beer, was pleasantly surprised by their food. I’ll definitely come back cause I haven’t stopped thinking about that sandwich since …

Great spot to try out some tasty beers! Came here on a Saturday afternoon and loved the chill vibe here as it was not too busy. Friendly service from the staff and they even have a variety of board games you can play as well. Would recommend getting a flight so you can try a variety of different beers. Also tried their vodka sodas which were delicious too. You can also purchase merch and takeaway beers from here too. Overall would recommend if you’re in the area!

Great Brewery. I used to love coming to this building when it was empty because it was so photogenic and you could even hang out on the roof. I was happy when I heard that they were renovating this place and love how it turned out. I had a photo exhibit in their old location where I showed photos from this location I took more then 15 years ago now. Glad the renovation stayed true to the original look of the building.

I’ve probably been here 6-7 times since they opened earlier this year. Can’t believe I’m only writing the review now. Most recently I was here for St Paddy’s day and their grand opening when Mayor Tory made an appearance. I’ve been here on a dead ass weekday but mostly on Saturdays. Whether it’s super busy or supremely dead, the staff is the same personable/happy bunch. I love this place. I wasn’t to have my next bday here....

Swanky brewery with an upscale city feel. High ceilings, glass and garage doors open to the outside make it a great summer destination. A decent size parking lot right in the front, convenient.

Wow .. What a change from their previous location! Great atmosphere, patio, friendly and helpful service! The beer is fantastic too! Also check out Shacklands and Rainhard breweries right next door. They do collaboration brews with both of them.

Junction has an excellent variety. Whether you are looking for something light to enjoy on a hot summer day or are going with people who all enjoy something different, this is a great spot! They also have pop-ups for food and comedy depending on the day you stop by.

Fantastic first visit to Junction Craft Brewery. The taproom is a big airy space with lots of room and a huge screen which the World Cup showing on this occasion. Lots of beer varieties to try including the Woodhouse Brewery brews. My partner tried the Junction Craft Pilsner and I went straight for the Woodhouse Raspberry Sour. Great beer and several of the Raspberry Sour came home with me. Friendly staff, great beer and a great looking space. There are lots of breweries in the area, to be sure, but make sure you check out JCB/Woodhouse, you'll be glad you did! I'm looking forward to the next patio season (but I'll be back before that) for some JCB brews in the sunshine.
