Wow, just had one of the best BBQ meals I’ve ever eaten, and I’m pretty picky about my ‘Cue. Junebug’s BBQ is one of the few eateries open today on Christmas Day and I couldn’t do frito pie again at The Saloon 🤣 so I checked them out for the first time. I don’t think I’ve ever had Mac and cheese with cheese so good! The brisket is cut thick (3 slices was 1/2 lb) and I opted for some of the fattier cuts, which had great bark and amazing flavor. The pulled pork was juicy with great texture, the BBQ sauce was perfect — a little tangy and sweet, just the way I like it — and they had thick cut home style pickles like mom used to make with cucumbers from our garden. Both folks who took my order and rang me up were friendly. They have tables there in the courtyard area to eat at with good music playing for some ambiance, and they also serve beer and a few other punch-style drinks, though I didn’t partake today and opted for my food to go. They included all the “fixins” without me asking, also. Couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas meal! And I have enough left over for dinner, plus a banana pudding.
