This was my first time at the Jungle Cafe and I was not disappointed. The food was so delicious, really great and such a diverse menu, all vegan, and they even have delicious chocolate chips cookies! Everything about this place is great. Wish there were more places like this, highly recommend it.

The Jungle Cafe is one of those places that nourishes you on all levels. Tasty, clean, fresh, healthy food in a warm, natural and inviting environment. Great smoothies, juices, sandwiches, salads, main courses, vegan and gluten free deserts — even hot cacao! The buffet has a wide selection and features rotating cultural themes daily (Mexican, Indian, Polish, etc.). Do yourself and your community a favor by supporting this great local establishment! PS — It’s also a great place to get some reading or work done, or meet up with friends.

I came over here for Lunch and the place is really amazing with lots of cool designs. Very welcoming. I had the Polish Mushroom Potato Tacos with Salad and Iced Matcha Latte. The food is so good and the Server is very Nice. I would highly recommend for a quick Lunch and Dinner.

Popped in for brunch. Lovely airy space. We went with the breakfast burrito and the jungle burrito and soup as you have the choice of soup or salad, which comes with most options. Soup was served in a cup and was lentil and vegetables, and although simple, it was really tasty. Both burritos were packed to the brim and tasted amazing. To drink, I had the mango lassi, one of the best I've had, and my husband had the drip coffee, which as we left he was offered a free coffee to go which was great. Jungle Cafe also has a buffet, and the type of food offered changes daily, i.e., American, Italian, etc. Free water is also served. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely place to eat.

Google
Came here for a brunch and what a wonderful, cute spot right around the corner. The highlight was definitely the berry collagen smoothie - would definitely come back for this! We got a beet burger and a polish taco, both of which came with a choice of salad or soup, we got one of each! Overall pretty yummy!

Love it! Great place for a quick healthy meal. We got the burrito bowl and it was delicious. The space is really pretty too. The Mint limonade was DELICIOUS!!

Google
Space itself is cute, but I didn’t enjoy my experience. I had a beet burger with soup. Beet patty was so spicy and contained more tomato taste. However, they have a lot of vegan options and buffet. Buffet idea is great.

Google
Such a great place for a quick snack or a hearty meal. The buffet is full of good options at a very accessible price, the food is delicious, and portions are great. A must visit if you are in the Greenpoint area.

Yelp
Vegan. Paradise. Can't begin to say enough great things about this place -- our server was incredibly kind and helpful with the menu, food came quickly, and we were able to sit at a corner table on the ground with cushions next to some windows that were letting in great light. It was a perfectly cozy and serene spot to enjoy our food. And the food itself is to die for -- burger couldn't have been better with its balance of flavors (they do not shortchange you on the avocado!!!), the mango lassi hit the exact spot I needed it to, vegan nuggets convinced me I for a brief moment they were real meat, and those desserts are INCREDIBLE. I'm a donut connoisseur and I can't recommend the Jungle Cafe flower donuts enough -- perfect level of sweetness on the frosting combined with delicious dough that had a great texture to it. YUM.

Yelp
While attending an event in Greenpoint, got to visit this place before it closed. I really loved what they had to offer. Everything from made to order items, vegan desserts, smoothies, and buffet choices. I enjoy variety, and decided to try out the buffet. It was all delicious and nutritious. I especially appreciate the variety in protein options: beans, tofu, soy products. Overall, my experience was good and service was great. My only two issues: the prices were pretty high, though I understand this has to do with the area. And in the back, I noticed cooking staff was eating Popeyes, which seems like a really bizarre choice considering it's a vegan establishment. It would probably be better if non-vegan staff ate animal products off-site.

Yelp
This place was delicious! The beet burger was so tasty. I ordered it on sourdough which was a good choice in my opinion. The service here was great! My food came out hot and quick. The staff was super friendly. The only downfall was that it was pricy... $20 for a meatless burger and no slide. They have a public restroom.

Laura R.

Yelp
Visited for the first time today. It's a very serene, peaceful space in the middle of Greenpoint. They have a vegan buffet and a menu of dishes they'll prepare for you. All the ingredients tasted fresh and seasoned well. The staff is very friendly and kind. I'll definitely be back. I enjoyed the burrito bowl very much. Perfect portion-size too.

Sheryl W.

Yelp
It's a vibe. I think I picked properly. I got the oyster tacos and they were a crunchy delight. The Mac and cheese was ok. The jalepeno cornbread was unique. The staff was kind. The ambiance and friendliness stands out. I would definitely come back and try some additional items.

Lisa Z.

Yelp
A pretty quiet and nice lowkey spot around the Greenpoint station. It's vegan so there are great options for this including tacos and burgers etc. servers and cashier were nice to us and were helpful when we were ordering. The one thing I would say is this might be just a tad bit on the pricy side considering everything is vegan and animal free.

Racquel B.

Yelp
I've been twice now and loved it both times. The buffet was tasty and the smoothies are delicious. My favorite part is the plants. It's a serene oasis, especially if you grab a seat on the floor on the cushions by the windows. The buffet Mac and cheese was tastier than the menu item for some reason. But overall, the food feels healthy and good for the soul. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
[ENG] This review if from my own experience walking in and using TooGoodToGo app to help this business save on food waste but the only food that I'd receive was from the day from yesterday. This isn't fresh as advertised or don't like the idea that I got a small box and wasn't paying attention because I'm NYC, I was one of the photographer and videographer covering TCS NYC road Runner's marathon and I was hungry. Didn't eat anything since 5am other than water and Gatorade. The food was too cold to even give this box a state of flavor. When warm up, I think I nuke the flavors and it wasn't very good to my optional. So I end up going back to the hostel and making vegan Philly cheesesteaks and fries. What a waste of time and will not visit again. Sorry to my vegan Bros and sisters but vegan law is never give two day food as take out because it wasn't good.

Yelp
Cute, local spot with really fantastic service. The staff is so nice and friendly and it's a great place to do some work as well. They have a nice buffet but their entrees are definitely even better. The vegan caesar was fantastic and their burrito is great. The baked goods were somehow even better. Get the jalepeno corn muffin it's absolutely insane!!

Shelby S.

Yelp
Jungle cafe is a cute little spot! I love the mango lassi smoothie it has been my go to. I also recently tried the green curry which was good. It didn't have those strong Thai coconut flavors I'm used to but still tasted pretty good. This place also has a vegan buffet if anyone wants to try a variety of items!

netflix c.

Yelp
have been here multiple times as I live in greenpoint and am vegan. Such a hit or miss spot, some days the food is prepared excellently and others it's clearly old or something is VERY wrong with it. I recently ordered a spicy caesar cauliflower wrap, and the lettuce was not only clearly old/ wilty / but beyond doused in sauce to try to hide this(?). Would not have served food in this condition to an animal it was so bad. I ate maybe close to 1/3 of the wrap before it made me truly sick and I almost threw up, recognizing what was wrong with it. This is not the first time I have gotten clearly old food from this place, and when I picked up a toogoodtogo order from here the rice / tofu / all the food was so old and gross and hard I had to throw it all out. Some consistency in food quality would be nice - bc when a dish is made right it is some of the best vegan in the neighborhood. For now I will simply not be returning and risking getting another inedible food order. I recommend Greenpot a few blocks away - incredible vegan food there that never misses.

Yelp
these people do not know how to run a business, there is no manager and you cannot get in contact with the owner what so ever. the kitchen is the tiniest kitchen i have ever seen in my life. these people have been training all different girls to work there and then letting them go , basically using them for the days they need an extra person. and last but not least they have a C rating that they do not display in their window. this place is TRASH. food doesn't taste that bad though ill give them that. and the carrot cake is amazing.

Xia B.

Yelp
What can I say?!.... The variety of food is awesome. I love Indian food. The music, the plants, the vibe... if I lived here, I would try to be a regular!

Michaela T.

Yelp
I came here for the first time today and I was completely blown away. First the service: Azura was so genuinely kind and thorough. I was overwhelmed with options and she had plenty of suggestions and information about the restaurant itself. Second the food: amazing. flavorful. Expensive but totally worth it for good sustainable ingredients. Lastly: the ambience- cute and cozy with friendly customers! This place is being run the right way!! Overall I am so so happy I came here. I will be back :)

Kate H.

Yelp
Short & sweet, simple & fresh, this place was fantastic. The staff was patient and helpful. The lion's mane mushroom apple slaw sandwich was unbelievable and totally gluten free (but ask for GF bread, the breaded part on the mushroom is GF.) The dragonfruit smoothie was so fresh and earthy, mixing mint with dragonfruit and coconut milk (maybe pineapple) to make an amazing concoction! I can't wait to come back and try the buffet options and some vegan GF sweets!!!! My friend looooved the asian inspired eggplant dish in the buffet (and she is particular about her eggplant!) However, the best part of our dining experience was at the sun-soaked, short seated tables by the big beautiful windows.

Mandy K.

Yelp
Fresh and healthy food and drink options. Really liked the rose cacao drink. The seaweed salad was refreshing and delicious! The burrito plate was ok a bit bland. Cauliflower wings were a bit too deep fried.

Monet B.

Yelp
Amazing amazing amazing! I love that most of the stuff is also gluten free. It's been a struggle to find a vegan restaurant that is gluten free. And their food is absolutely delicious!!! I loved the bbq chicken, the beans the kale salad and even the dessert! I highly highly recommend this spot. So filling and I love that you have your own build your own Togo box. Self serving station. Soooo delicious

Josh B.

Yelp
Been here a couple times and as only a part-time vegan I thought the food from the buffet is pretty solid. The last time I came I also ordered some desserts. The Sweet Potato brownie was pretty good but the texture is a little stretchy rather than breakable like a regular brownie. I thought there could have been more chocolate flavor too. I loved the Chocolate Chip Cookie here though. I think there's some coconut flavor somewhere in there which I loved.

Devon D.

Yelp
It's fantastic, clean very flavorful and pricey vegan food in a relaxed comfy vibe. It's a "hot bar" not a "buffet"....big difference! The gentleman working there was very kind and helpful. Maps says it opens at 9, it's actually 11

Yelp
I discovered this vegan establishment as I was heading to a dinner reservation in the area. Jungle Cafe is casual with community tables. Diners can choose food from the buffet or made-to-order from the menu When I returned to the area to meet a friend after a workout, this was the best choice. Neither of us are vegan, but we wanted a comfortable setting where we could relax and feed our bodies responsibly post-workout. This place was perfect I started with a smoothie called JAGUAR POWER (Almond mylk, pumpkin seed, hemp protein, maca, dark agave, blueberry, banana, vanilla; pinch of salt) which I really enjoyed We shared the following: BEET BURGER Jungle Cafe's original beet burger with homemade veganaise, pickle relish, lettuce, tomato and sprouts, served on your choice of organic whole wheat bun or a gluten-free bun JUNGLE BURRITO Black beans, Mexican rice, seitan, pico de gallo, guacamole, vegan cheese and mixed greens layered in a flour tortilla, served with guacamole and vegan sour cream First of all, there's no warning on print (on the menus we were presented with to order from) or from the waiter who took the order about a surcharge to order the gluten-free bun on the beet burger. We were surprised with a $1 fee when the bill arrived (which we didn't bother to dispute) On to the food- the dishes came with a choice of soup or salad. We each decided to get soup which was simple and just right on a cold day. The beet burger patty, although extremely crumbly, with its fixins was quite tasty. For that extra $1 gluten free bun, it seemed like we got a hockey puck instead as the bun was tough - more like a shortbread cookie actually The jungle burrito was really good- can always go for rice and beans. It was hearty, filling, tasty, and just satisfying Too bad for dessert the carrot cake was sold out. We ended up getting the carrot muffin, which is supposed to be similar to the carrot cake San creamy white frosting.. bad choice. Again another brick - so dry. Thankfully we had also ordered the RAW CHOCOLATE MOUSSE which was so much better. The raw chocolate mousse is (per the menu) made with cacao powder, almond mylk, dates, agave, irish moss, vanilla extract, salt, soy lecithin and coconut oil; it's a tiny tiny bit bitter, but rich and moist. It helped end the meal on a positive note Very glad to see vegan options and that I tried out a few items here that I in general enjoyed

Kristine N.

Yelp
Good portions, fast service, and cute aesthetic! Vegan buffet for $11.99 per pound and a couple baked and raw desserts as well. I got the Mac and cheese- ham was surprisingly good, Mac and cheese seemed like the standard vegan Mac recipe, loved the cornbread!

Adahlia S.

Yelp
We ordered this for our team at work! We order the beyond meat empanadas. The team loved it!

Nicole S.

Yelp
An update of more order issues I've had with this business when I've had to order from here as a last resort for vegan food: - Ordered side of kale salad, was sent iceberg lettuce and a few slices of tomato - Ordered a breakfast burrito and it had avocado slices instead of guacamole, and was missing the cheese AND the chipotle sauce

Jane C.

Yelp
jungle cafe is the OG only real vegans will know the vibe ... it's heaven sent!! so so good love the buffet!! love the whole menu! staff is so sweet and the space is so cute! jungle cafe forever

Alec B.

Yelp
I thought the grub was fine, my brunch partner really liked it. In fact, they claimed that if they found a hair they'd keep eating - a very uncharacteristic ... and prescient. There was a general laxity; the front of house staff were super nice, but not necessarily there to make the place shine or help people have the best experience possible. When we arrived the host cheerily conveyed that the buffet wouldn't be ready for a bit because they just opened, as though one shouldn't expect a restaurant to be ready for service when it opens for service. (It was 11 AM not 8 AM). The phrasing and tone indicated this is the norm rather than an exception. If you are going specifically for the buffet, don't expect it to be ready when the doors open. Unfortunately, I had been specifically looking forward to the buffet and was disappointed by the menu, which was far more limited, more typical in its offerings and out of the one or two less common things. As my dish was handed to me I was informed that they didn't have one of the key ingredients, and was asked if I would like to make a substitution for that ingredient. It was an odd thing to inform someone of while presenting their meal, rather than sharing it as soon as possible so that the customer could potentially order something else. The space felt nice. I will probably give them another try at some point.

Anthony S.

Yelp
My girlfriend ordered takeout after being recommended to the spot. Wasn't expecting much but the Orange "Chicken" bowl was delicious! Also ordered some veggie dumplings that were on point. Will definitely want to try other menu items in the future!

Todd B.

Yelp
Because I'm a good boyfriend, I wanted to give my lady a wonderful first day on our 10th or something like that trip to NYC. So how do you do that? For one thing, you find a vegan restaurant and you go there for lunch. I like vegan and vegetarian places that have something that would appeal to a carnivore. This place does not have any meat options, but they do have saitan, and I have discovered that while I don't care for most preparations of tofu, saitan can be done in a very tasty way. I got the burrito, which had whole lots of stuff in it in a grilled or pressed burrito, including marinated saitan and black beans and guac. It came with soup or salad, so I got the coconut corn chowder. This was not the best vegan meal I have had. I didn't love it. That said, I really liked the soup and for a carnivore, the burrito was definitely tasty and if Melissa wanted to come back, I'd be happy to do so. The restaurant also has a hot and cold buffet and there were a number of items on here that also looked like a winner. I can appreciate a vegan restaurant that understands you can appeal to a wider audience than just vegans, and at the same time, eliminate at least the one meal of meat I would have otherwise eaten, if you just get creative with your flavors and meat substitutes. Kudos to Jungle Cafe for succeeding in doing that.

John R.

Yelp
The smoothies used to be better and they seem to way too long to make them. There wasn't anyone in front of us, and it took 10 to 15 minutes to get what we ordered.

Peter D.

Yelp
This is a hippie joint, and of course I mean that in the nicest of ways. It's calm, and bright, and colorful. There's a lot of communal seating for everyone to sit together and bask in the nice menu entirely devoid of animal suffering. If you need celebrities to reaffirm your choices not to eat meat, there's a whole wall full of the faces of famous vegans/vegetarians just for you. Everyone looks like they are coming from or heading to yoga after they eat, so it's very difficult to tell who works here because everyone is nice...not just the people clearing plates and taking orders and trying to get tips. But if you were wondering, the people that are clearing plates and taking orders and trying to get tips, those are the ones that work here. Atmosphere aside, the food is fresh and tasty well-made, for the most part. I rocked a really nice beet burger that came with a pretty serious salad on the side. I was happy about it. One of my companions just went with a banana smoothie of some kind, which was also a win. The other opted for the mac and "cheese," which beyond needing salt, was pretty tasty. Everything was pretty solid, except the corn muffin that came with the mac and cheese bowl...that thing was amazing. My friend let us have a bite before she got in there, and seriously regretted that poor, poor decision. If you're interested in a plant-based meal, come to Jungle Cafe. But don't share your corn muffin. That's my advice to you.

Taylor D.

Yelp
I ordered delivery, which is delivered by the store staff. Instead of buzzing my apartment, I got a call from the person (Santos Reyes). They were aggressive and asked me what I was going to tip them. I was confused and surprised, and he was just a mean, angry person and it make me incredibly uncomfortable. I hung up and honestly was scared. He proceeded to buzz my apartment a lot, holding down the buzzer and calling me back saying to come down or they'll leave my food outside. I told him I'm uncomfortable by how angry he was and that I don't want my order. He kept the food and the restaurant did not cancel my order. Otherwise, the food is SO GOOD and delivery experience is normal but this experience alone will make me never order again from here.

Jinyen C.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this beautiful place filled with light, plants and good soul filling foods. Everything we had was just so tasty, flavorful and well thought out. I've added all my photos with their menu names. I will be back for more! Give it a try and spread the word! Health is Wealth!

Bre Y.

Yelp
I ordered delivery on Seamless this afternoon. I ordered the buffalo fried cauliflower bites, a jalapeño corn muffin, and the rocket fuel cold brew latte. All of it was excellent! The cauliflower was crispy yet tender inside, tasty hot sauce and bleu cheese, the corn muffin moist with a nice bit of kick, and yet the star was honestly the latte...cold brew, chicory, maple, and oatmilk. Creamy, strong, slightly sweet, and delicious!

Amanda F.

Yelp
Best vegan spot in Greenpoint for a hot meal filled with veggies. Great items always on the buffet bar but my favorite is the vegan Mac and cheese and jalapeño corn bread. Super nice people, always room to dine in so cute inside

Michele D.

Yelp
Definitely a place to visit. Staff were friendly, laid back and mellow, and very clean when handling food items. I had a cup of cacao, the way it was intended to be drunk: dark and slightly bitter. I love dark chocolate, even 90 or 100%, so it was a treat to have this in a warm liquid form. No marshmallows and kid stuff in the cocao, it had a hint of cardamom (another fave of mine) and was topped with rose petals. Very cool. They have food as well.

Lynda R.

Yelp
Just got robbed at Jungle Cafe. As a vegan who lives in Greenpoint, this was my go to. Today, went in and filled a to-go from the buffet and what usually cost about $12 cost double that. Spent $47 on two minimally full boxes from the buffet. For that price I could have had a sit-down dinner with service and a drink. When asked if prices went up was told yes, by $3 a pound. As I felt bad for having already filled a box, I didn't want to run out the door, but totally feel robbed. Who wants to pay that much for food in a box that has been sitting in a buffet all day? Sad, because things like this will cause the place to go out of business. So anyway, beware! Personally, I won't be going back because I don't need to feel like I'm being ripped off.

Mihael K.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for the longest time and finally got the chance to. It had been hyped up to me so much that I was a little disappointed, but all in all I had a good time here. I ordered the beet burger with the lentil soup. The soup was pretty solid. The beet burger itself was amazing (an easily what I'd order again), but the bun was kind of bland. The service, though, was incredibly slow. When I ordered the beet burger I ordered it without some of the toppings and it came with those topping on... so had to wait all over again for another. Still, it was an overall good meal that I'd order again. I'd come back if I was in the area but wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

Gaby G.

Yelp
I love it here! Kickass vegan buffet + great coffee too. I sat in one of the bungalows by the front window. Cozy, staff was direct and helpful, food was excellent. Take any vegetarian/vegan here and they will be through the roof!

KiraGoldy G.

Yelp
Always the best , most relaxing and friendly place to be in Brooklyn for nourishing and tasty food.

Felicitas O.

Yelp
Lucky find!!! I stopped by for lunch and had a few items from the buffet. Great fresh variety of cold and hot vegan options. Everything I had was super tasty and well balanced. The kale salad was awesome. Cabbage salad as well. I also had some kombucha though I felt that $3.00 for the tiny glass was a bit on the pricey side. Fun vibe with vacation like music and great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Awesome!

Dawn C.

Yelp
There's a vegan buffet and a menu. The buffet looked good, but I prefer to order off the menu. Loved my meal

Mick E.

Yelp
Came here on a whim because the wait at champs was well over an hour. The food and service here was amazing. The server Amira was great she was very patient and explained everything and even helped us out with the menu to make sure the meal we got would fit within our fast restrictions. We both got the corn soup with coconut milk which was very tasty. I got the jungle burrito which was really good, my wife got the spicy tempeh tacos which she loved. As part of our fast we can't have anything with any added sugar or sweetner, so we got a raw dessert with no sugar or agave. The Raw coconut cream pie was AMAZING!!!! I highly recommend that dessert as it is sugar free but will satisfy any sweet tooth. I recommend coming to this restaurant especially being that it is vegan.

Glory F.

Yelp
A dream come true! If you're vegan, this place is a godsend. The hot food bar makes it really easy to grab and go! I really loved the incredible Mac & cheese, pepper chicken, rice, and delicious potatoes! Perfect dinner or lunch time treat. However, start off with a small box while you're getting acquainted with pricing- or else you'll end up like me, paying $18 buck for a ridiculously heavy container. What? I was hungry.

Rachel J.

Yelp
The buffet looked a bit stale (specifically the hot foods) but our Tropical C and Young Thai Coconut Shake were pretty filling.

Jenny L.

Yelp
Jungle Café is the best. I could eat here every single day and sometimes do! If there is anything they could work on it would be consistency and execution ie: twice recently I've ordered mac and cheese with cashew cheese and it came with Daiya even though I've paid $2 extra for the cashew, stuff like that. Still giving 5 stars though because I love the food and they make eating vegan easy for me.

Annabelle V.

Yelp
The new location of Jungle Cafe is SO chill and cozy. They have two beautiful alcoves filled with pillows where you can cozy up to someone you kinda really like. They have both a buffet and a menu to order a la Carte dishes from. The buffet is $8.99/lb I believe, has great salads and warm options. The menu has their usual stuff, bean burgers sandwiches bowls etc. It's vegan food but not pretentious- no one is in your face or annoying about it, everyone there just happens to enjoy the vegan food. It's hearty and filling, so you can be powered up to explore all the other gems in Greenpoint!

Kaiti M.

Yelp
Love, love, love Jungle Cafe! All vegan and so many GF options which I really appreciate as a newly gluten free person. Everything is just delicious (you can't go wrong with any of the desserts) and portion sizes are great. The beet burger (gf bun) is one of my favorites.

Basil S.

Yelp
This spot does delivery and take in (outside), i was super impressed with the food. I was also impressed by the staff who handled a hipster Karen and her Kevin really well. Honestly, the yuppies screaming at food workers because their stuff came into to go boxes by accident were the only bad part of the meal. I highly recommend this place for an accommodating and delicious vegan meal.

A L.

Yelp
Dirty. Tables had enough muck on them for me to create my own vegan buffet, no need to order.

Dee G.

Yelp
My mom and I decided to explore today further in Greenpoint then we normally do and we found Jungle Cafe! I had no idea there was a vegan place in the area. We went to eat inside and the decor was very inviting and fun. We sat down and got menus from a tall waitress who throughout our stay there had a pretty stuck-up attitude. But I wasn't going to let her bad energy get in the way and I'm glad we didn't! The food was AMAZING! The flavors was beyond delicious. I ordered the Thai Green Curry Bowl with the mint limeade and my mom ordered the potato mushroom tacos that came with butter squash soup. The limeade was the best thing I ever had. The soup was rich and you can tell it was freshly made. The bowl was not too spicy but had the perfect kick that didn't overpower the rest of the flavors and the lemongrass rice it came with was so light and airy with great flavor. I had a bite of the tacos and just remember the delicious mashed potatoes inside of it. Overall, it was such a great culinary experience - one that I haven't had in a while since New York restaurants have really become mediocre with incredibly high prices. I want to go back for the vegan pastries and coffee! Thanks for existing but please fix your attitude!
