Very Good BBQ spot in Hayward. Great taste, lots of food and friendly staff. Ribs are great

Pastor B. is a very friendly and personable proprietor who served ribs tender enough to pull off easily with a plastic forks. He remembers your name and asks how the food is. The tri tip was tender as well and the Mac and cheese was a hit with me. The sauce is sweet and savory, blending well with the seasoned, tender meats. I will return to Hayward for this one.

The ribs and chicken were tender, juicy and flavorful. The mac and cheese was one the best if not the best I've ever had. Better and more authentic than Famous Daves. The owners were welcoming and friendly as well.

I love the food! I love the people who work/own this place. Super friendly and they take care of you. Everything I've eaten here is amazing. I get the 4 meat combo for like 30 bucks and share that with about 3 ppl that includes myself. The BBQ and the desserts are so good. The fried fish is on point. Black Family-owned business. I love BBQ so thought I tried to spot, I live around the corner. Have driven past the many times but always had to pay whether or not I wanted to drop that much money for some barbecue. Oh when you realize you crave BBQ and there's no other barbecue spot you get a little more curious so one day me and my boyfriend at the nerves and we went up there and we got some barbecue that I have to say it was delicious. I wish it wasn't so expensive because I will be there every day but it's definitely something I'm willing to invest in every two weeks because it was good. Love the music they were playing and you can smell their food from miles away so you can never say it's not home cook.

My plate was absolutely delicious! I was closing my eyes praying to Jesus with gratitude for a blessed and well tasting meal, the potato salad definitely has a secret ingredient, and dessert was delicious! I’m looking forward to my next visit for prawns and the salt and pepper fish. The Chef is on point with the ingredients!

I'm already raving about this restaurant and telling my friends and family to try their delicious soulfood! It was amazing!! Definitely a great option in the hidden gem of South Hayward.

Good food, better service - the real question is why didn't I try this place sooner?! The restaurant is located right on mission beside Red Chili and the larger plaza on the corner. The parking lot is small in the front so it's easy to miss, but y'all...don't miss it! My fiancé and I stopped by for an early lunch and lucky for us no one else was there. We got to meet and chat with PB who explained the menu and options to us. I ordered the chicken value meal with potato salad and mac and cheese and a drink ($14) and my fiancé got the bishops platter with potato salad and collard greens ($22). We also got the corn bread that PB recommended. Everything was so tasty and filling! The potato salad was delicious and I can understand why people would come back for seconds! The BBQ sauce had a kick but wasn't too too spicy where you can't taste the flavor. Great balance! The restaurant is larger than it looks from the outside with plenty of seating. If you prefer to eat at home, they're also on all the delivery sites!

I JUST FOUND MY NEW FAVORITE BBQ SPOT! A little hidden gem, don't be fooled by the boards on the window, that just adds character. :) It smells so f*caking good in here, I wanted to order one of everything. The service was amazing, very friendly and welcoming. I ended up going with the #1 Rib Plate with potato salad and macaroni. The ribs had so much meat on them and fell off the bone, I got the hot bbq sauce and it was delicious. The macaroni was delicious my mouth is watering just thinking about it... AND THE POTATO SALAD; Yo, you don't call a place, Just Potato Salad if you aren't gunna have some amazing ass potato salad. THIS WAS THE BEST POTATO SALAD & I usually don't even like that shit. It all tasted so good that I had to stop myself from eating it because I wanted to eat it again later. 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND, you won't be disappointed!

I would pass by this place and always found the name pretty funny. Later learned that the owner would serve the food at church and when people would go up for seconds they would ask for "just potato salad" Today I went with my gf for an early dinner and I got the Bishops platter while she got the chicken value meal. The bishops platter came with a 4 meat sampler which included ribs, chicken, hot links, and tri tip. All the meats tasted great but the ones that really stood out were the ribs and tri tip. As for the sides I got the collared greens and potato salad. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the biggest fan of potato salad but had to try it because it's in the name of the restaurant. But after trying this potato salad consider me a fan! Easily the best potato salad I've ever had. The owner PB was super nice and inviting. We will definitely be coming back for seconds to order the potato salad and much more.

What can I say about this place other than it's consistent - packed with flavor - and always great service! Love supporting local businesses and this place is truly a gem. Ordered for pick up and it went like this. Chicken and lynx - amazing! Well seasoned and great flavor. Ribs and tri-tip - great smoke and flavor on these, also generous portions! Side: potato salad, absolutely WOW Fries - crispy and great taste Green beans - has pieces of tri-tip and packed with flavor Macaroni- cheesy and yummy! Peach cobbler - not too sweet and well made! As mentioned love supporting this place and highly recommend - will continue to support!

It's actually more than good potato salad! It's good bbq, too, at fair prices and easy takeout! Yum yum!

I'm so sorry to see the restaurant close. Dear Pastor, you will truly be missed. I will miss your delicious food and your humbling personality. I wish there was a way that you could have stayed open long term. We need a soul food business in our community, and I'm so sad that you're gone.

This place is the bomb! I am originally from the south and this food just hits me right. All the meat is slow cooked and the sides are even better. Every time I come here, I leave so happy. As to the person who wrote the review on 4/15/2022 about no phones being answered, the owner of the restaurant was in critical condition at the hospital and almost died. He was forced to unexpectedly close the restaurant and didn't have a chance to make a formal announcement or change his voicemail because he went into the ER and didn't leave the hospital for like two months! Sorry you had a bad communication experience but here is the explanation to your misunderstanding. Chef Bennett is a great man and an amazing chef and we are blessed to still have him with us.

Food was DELICIOUS. However, my 3-stars is for 2 reasons: a) an extra ribs a la carte was missing and we were definitely charged on our receipt. b) the amount of patrons not wearing masks was pretty concerning to me. With Alameda county being the leading Bay Area county with COVID cases I don't really feel comfortable returning until masks are mandated or until Rona is over. Once Rona is over though, I will definitely be returning because the food tastes GREAT and the staff is SO nice.

Pardon the blurry photo, the food smelled so good that idk what camera setting I used. Okay, so it was my first time going to "Just Potato Salad". The last time I went to the area was when the place was still a Shawarma place. Anyways, the kind sir running "Just Potato Salad" was really kind and accommodating. It seemed like he was the only one running the shop. The menu specifies that there are no substitutions, so better weigh your options. I ordered the Bishop's Platter which includes tri-tip (? i forgot, I'm not a big bbq person, but this shop might've just converted me), hot link (you get to choose mild or hot link), a rib, and chicken. You also get 2 sides with the order. Of course, since it's my first time, I had to get it with potato salad and mac and cheese. You also get to choose if you want your bbq sauce mild or hot. I chose hot because I like spicy food. Okay, so the meat is really tender. It's fall off the bone, really flavorful, savory, smoky and downright mouthwatering. I am not a chicken bbq fan, but "Just Potato Salad"'s chicken bbq is hella good. I didn't have to use a knife to eat!!! Just fork is okay. The bbq sauce's spice is the type of spice that sits at the back of your throat. It was really warm and it builds up. It's sweet, tangy, umami and spicy. To pescatarians out there, this shop also serves seafood (deep fried or blackened). The menu also specifies that if you want to get a portion of just the sides, you have to order some meat. Overall, it was amazing. 100/10 would go here again and treat my family.

They try hard. Boarded up front doors, problems during covid not changed. Food was just okay nothing special even the potato salad. With a name like this I had really high hopes that it would be worth a venture. Zero atmosphere. Friendly owner was helpful , no smell of a smoker ? Humm?

Introduced to JPS by a neighbor. Always felt the best bbq came from family-owned small businesses and JPS fits the bill perfectly. A group of us had take-out lunch today - meat combos (tri tip, chicken, ribs, and sausages) + 4 different sides (potato salad, baked beans, green beans, and collard greens). EVERYTHING was delicious. The owner (C.D. Bennett) is a great guy and so friendly. I will be making this a regular spot for bbq!! #SupportLocalSmallBusiness

I am so disappointed in the professionalism and integrity of this place. I've been trying to go all week. It's is advertised that they are open at 1pm, everyday between 1 and 3 I have calls this week and I get straight voicemail, the phone doesn't even ring. The information published about this company is rarely accurate. Ive called to make an order every day this week and simply no answer. When I first came I loved the fish and I tried to return, I even hooked the company up with a catering gig, but the guy / ex-preacher who is always there was so rude their after. It's important for business to practice integrity and mean what they say. This restaurant is very misleading and they have the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I try to support black owned business but this one I very hard to support by they way they treat the customers.

YUM! If you're going to fall in love with anything here, it's going to be the ribs imo. They're saucy, tender, juicy, and what dreams are made of. I'm pretty sure that's how I've described them in the past. But it's true! The sausage is also juicy and spicy, and the tri tip is really tender and you get a good amount on your plate. All must tries! The baked beans are like "eating candy" as my boyfriend described it, so sweet yet savory. Is it the honey? They're a great balance to counteract the salty, savory flavors. Even if you aren't the biggest fan of potato salad, try it here because you might change your mind.

Although the hours are scarce the ambiance reminded me of the spot back in the Nineties where a pop up restaurant would happen and build from the great recipes and hard work of the cooks to the grand franchise to come. Had me lookin back like "I ate here when nobody was on" type of privileged vibe. The ribs were sooo tender and stuck to the bone perfect to that delicious flavor all the way to my mouth just in time to catch it callin off the bone in my mouth. The owner (I can't remember my man's name) & Chuck the cook were on hand. Both courtesy high on their list helped me, not haggled me, into the perfect amount of food need to produce the perfect i'tis that had me and my boo in sweet slumber. I'll be back Thursday thru Sunday,,, best go before church to order cause they sell out! Thanks guys

So just like I said as a man of my word, we came back expecting the same great stuff we got before. Twas not to be the case. All three of our orders sadly disappointed as we were looking forward to a delicious meal. We ordered the same plates too. But what we got was barely any meat that looked like leftovers from someone else's dinner. Maybe the prior visit was good because I told them I was a first time customer and would come back if it was good. Not sure. Given how expensive it is, maybe I'll try again to give it another chance. But if it fails, you know George Bush said, "Fool me once, shame in you. If you fool me, you can't fool me again."

Pre-ordered by phone and had my brother pick up. Food is pretty inexpensive!!! And everything is delicious (chefs kiss) my mom and I loved the ribs so much flavor and fall off the bone. Mac and cheese and potato salad was a crowd favorite at home.

The food was amazing. Freshly prepared and very tasty. I'm glad I got a large. The service was top tier. The team was very warm friendly and welcoming.

I really had my hopes up for this B.O.B. I really wanted some BBQ but played it safe by just ordering fish. I was always told if you walk into a BBQ place and you don't even smell any BBQ then don't order it! The fish was decent; a lil over priced being that the Potato Salad and Green Beens were not spot on! So $14 for 3 piece of fish.... Plus I gave tip to totaling over $20; NOT knowing the end result... I would say THEY came up on my Moola.

I like the owners of this business. They have passion for quality food and they are very welcoming. The potato salad is just okay. The real star entree is the catfish.

Delicious food, but waaaaay too long of a wait for food that was probably already prepared. I ordered the oxtails, which came with rice, potato salad, black eyed peas, greens, yams and macaroni and cheese. None of that was made on the spot unless the rice was and even that wouldn't have taken over 40 minutes. Also, the price was a little excessive, even for oxtails. I know they aren't cheap, but $27 for one large and one medium oxtail is a bit pricey. The potato salad was unique. I actually enjoyed it. But if you don't like garlic, then opt for another side. I will give this place another chance, but only during the lunch hours when they have combo specials and I will call in my order or go do some errands while I wait.

My boyfriend and I arrived here around 4pm and it was pretty dead. The first few things that I saw was all the empty boxes stacked on top of one of their dining tables and several new boxes stacked in between the employee's entrance and what I believe was their restroom. The owner was sitting in front of the boxes peeling potatoes and their cook was chillin in the kitchen. As we got up to the menu table, the owner asked if it was our first time there, which it was. So he directed us to getting the tri tip and or ribs as one of their famous dinner plates. Also, the catfish, red snapper, and tilapia are their famous seafood dinners in that order. Sadly, yet ironically, they were out of potato salad. When we made up our minds, he had to call over his cook to take our order, when I think he should've already been by the register. Nonetheless he took our order and he forgot to ask if we wanted mild or hot, so the owner told us to let him know before he starts cooking, but he already left the register... thank goodness he came back haha! Other than that, i ordered the rib dinner w/double the Mac which cost a little extra. My boyfriend ordered the catfish dinner with Mac & cheese and greens. So we waited for a good 15-20 minutes for our food, not bad in my opinion. I thought we were going to wait a little longer, but the chef was kind enough to go around the counter and hand us our food personally :) now, time for the actual review on the food... First of all, the smell? Phenomenal! It was making our mouths water! Secondly, the ribs? FALL OFF THE BONE BOYYY! Nice and tender, very flavorful I loved it! The catfish was also very tasty, sadly it looks a little skinny, but that doesn't mean it lacked any flavor. The greens were both our favorites as well! However, my boyfriend and i disagreed on the Mac & cheese. One thing I was disappointed about is this distinct taste that it had... I couldn't really put my finger on it, but I'm assuming it's the type of milk or cheese that they used??? I read the reviews on how garlicky it was, but i doubt that was the issue. But my boyfriend loved it! So I gave him the rest of my Mac. The only time the Mac & cheese didn't taste so bad was when i would drench it with the bbq sauce that came with my ribs. I really wished they had the potato salad because I really wanted to try it, but that just means I would have to come back hehe. So yes, the food was very pricy. For the both of us, it was already $47.09 and I didn't really finish my food. I was already full by the 2nd rib and I wasn't the biggest fan of the Mac so I just gave the rest of my food to my boyfriends brother. I lowkey don't think that this is worth that much...? But I definitely see how these are classic and authentic recipes so this is why they set their prices this high. All in all I am not unsatisfied with my experience, just had higher hopes. One big red flag to me was the way the inside looked. It was disorganized, from the counter, to the chairs, to the back of the room w/their supplies out and about. I feel like the reason why a lot of people don't decide to dine in is simply because of the ambience that needs improvement. Food was good, it's just everything needs to match together.

My girlfriend and I come here all the time and it's always a 10/10 experience! Great conversation and great food! I would recommend something specific but everything on the menu is delicious!

If I'm at this plaza, I'm usually at the spot next door however, I made it a point to check this joint out. Place was roomy and wasn't too busy for your lunch time rush so, food came out in a decent time. BBQ tri tip was good, the fries ok, the potato salad was pretty bomb! Also had a pecan pie to go along with it and it tasted different. It tasted fresh. For the price point, it's hard to splurge here on the regular but, once in a blue moon this place isn't that bad.

Boss man (PB)did. So I've been in the bay for six years now and was missing a soul food spot to check off my list. This is that place. I've been craving catfish for a week and decided to go here over a couple other places and I was glad I did! The owner was courteous, kind, and polite. Immediately felt like family. Got my plate and catfish didn't disappoint. Perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. Mac n cheese was given the A+ rating by my Mac connoisseur of a wife. But listen y'all... While everything was amazing, (I never thought I'd say this), I'd come back just for the green beans.. They have talent herhe. Come get these plates!

So I placed my order over the phone at 2:30pm. I was give a pick up time of 45 min. Ok. So I get there and it takes a little longer than that. I was a little disappointed at the wait time. Until I got my food.. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything was good. I got the snapper dinner and the barbecue chicken. When ever you buy barbecue always buy and extra container of sauce. That's how good it is. I kid u not.

Tried out Just Potato Salad a bbq place in Hayward. They are next to Red Chili and they have limited parking in front, I think there is parking in the back because someone entered in the back of the restaurant. Call in your order folks because BBQ place always takes forever. I called in for BBQ ribs dinner because they don't have lunch special on weekends. It was only 4 ribs and 2 sides. I thought one rib was good, several others were dry and hard to eat. The 2 sides I picked were mac & cheese - mushy and not enough cheese for me. Potato salad was good - I'd get that again. Owners/workers are nice there, they place Gospel music too. Creditt cards allowed, need to show ID. Bathrooms in the back.

Saw that this place was closed Monday and Tuesday soo i definitely made an effort to come back this Saturday so glad i did. I got the 15a Meat combo enough for two people. Comes with Ribs, Chicken, hot link, and beef brisket soooo yummy. The meat fell right off the bone. And the chicken OMG fell right off the bone 2. And they pour the bbq sauce all over the meat: perfection!!! Came with two sides: french fries and macaroni and cheese and a slice of bread which i absolutely love!!! That slice of wheat bread makes the place fill authentic. I will definitely be back to try their seafood on Fridays as ive been observing lent. And they take CC's!!!!

Haven't been back here since the pandemic. The food is just as good or even better. The meats (tri tip and ribs) were so tender and flavorful. And last but not least the sides are awesome. You can't go wrong with any of them but potato salad is the star of the show. I recommend this place to everyone looking to get bbq out in the bay area

SSSSSoooooo - I saw, I went, I conquered. Stinky and I ventured into the Just Potato Salad Restaurant after catching a glimpse of it each time I rolled up and down Mission Blvd. but unfortunately they're about to close and revamp somewhere else. But until then go enjoy a plate. I usually don't do BBQ with a lot of sauce but this sauce wasn't over bearing it was just right and good. The french fries were on point - those thick home made fries like granny use to make along with some bomb potato salad.I'm not a potato salad type person - but this potato salad had me wanting to step up my potato salad game. Stinky and I got a sampler meat plate. Ribs fell off the bone and everything else was devine. So far I've waited 15 minutes for a 10-minute order. How long does it take to assemble a dinner plate?! No sandwiches on Sundays. Weird, but OK. They offer collard greens and yams as premium sides, but there's no sign for that. There's a palm tree banner along the wall that's tattered. I don't think palm trees when I think of barbecue, do you? 18 minutes. 10 I could have done. Barely. It better taste good! :-/ My up-sold yams are over-seasoned, like a vehicle for cinnamon, clove, and paprika. I can't taste the yams. It's more a texture, and the seasoning is also soupy. Even though I tore into the plate after a 10 minute drive, my mac 'n' cheese was congealed into a block. I like the meat, but their "hot" barbecue sauce lacks body. The cornbread's really tasty--very buttery with a honey sweetness that compliments the corn, but it's very crumbly. Seriously, though: Why did this take 18 minutes to assemble?

Hard to find even decent BBQ/soul food since Flint's went away. This place fits the bill for better than decent - it's delicious!! Wife is a soul food afficianado, high standards for restaurants. She was raving about all of the food during and after the meal. I got a link meal with potato salad, Mac n cheese sides. Fantastic sides, sauce had just the right amount of heat. Wife had ribs & links, with potato salad and greens. Also rate highly, ribs fell off the bone. Come here for your BBQ fix and no where else. Skip Lucille's, famous Dave's and all other pretenders. A bit pricey, but worth it.

They're back! Re-opened at the beginning of August. This is the place my wife and I go for our BBQ cravings, and it never fails to satisfy. Our absolute favorite is the hot link -- meaty with a lingering spice. The tri-tip is also tasty, with a moist texture accompanied by the sauce and a good layer of flavorful fat. Nobody says Hayward is known for its BBQ, but this place is one of the few gems that makes great BBQ here.

Decided to try this place because my husband wanted to... they didn't serve Link sandwiches after 5-should have stated that on menu. Tried to order other things and they were also out of Mac and cheese and Peach Cobbler.... the man at the front was just standing around talking and not preparing orders... if it were me I would have just walked out the minute he said he didn't have anything, but my husband decided to pay. Will never come back. Please update menu and/or let customers know before waiting in line so long. Still waiting after 40+ minutes

This was my 2nd time coming to this place. I went 2 weeks ago and my opinion has not changed. So the meat is well cooked and very tender but you can barely taste the BBQ sauce. I ordered greens and yams as my sides. The greens are amazing , I must say I love the greens here. Now the potaote salad is another story. The first time I ordered potatoes salad it was so salty and sweet which sucks because I had high hopes considering the name of the place. This time I brought my own potatoe salad from Safeway because I didn't want to chance it. I suggest you call in to order your food because it does take at least 30mins or more. Overall the food is good just not worth the price. I spent 80.00 each time I went, which I don't mind spending but EVERYTHING better be on point. Will I be back? probably so if im craving BBQ

Read very good reviews about this place and planned to go there. Gave a call and was answered by the owner who has very gentle manner, took the order and asked us to come on in. I ordered 3 meat combo of Chicken, Ribs and Tri-tip with fries and their famous Potato Salad as sides.. Ribs were so juicy and delicious...Just fell off the bone..Lip smacking taste! Chicken was so tender and juicy too. Their hot sauce absolutely made the difference. Tri-tip was mehh... That's why 4 star! I should have ordered Hot links instead! But we'll worth the visit! 35 bucks for 3 meats shared with a friend is not a bad deal..

Review #150!...onward to 200...and the song of the review is "Weird Al" Yankovic's - EAT IT (if you read my previous review you'll understand the song reference). Listening to the song and hearing chicken, pie, it reminds be of BBQ (don't ask why). So off we went to Just Potato Salad. It was raining like crazy this past weekend and upon arrival the place was nearly empty (although we arrived at 3:40pm so I was hoping we beat the dinner crowd. I explained I wanted to try EVERYTHING meat on the menu and that's exactly what we did. Now the one thing that concerns me is how long your food will take when this place is busy. It took over 30 minutes for us to get our food and there was only one couple ahead of us but it was worth the wait. I did hear the microwave going off (cringing) three times and was praying they didn't microwave the meat. I didn't ask but suspect it was the three sides that were getting nuked (3 beeps and 3 sides, adds up). Upon getting our food (it was served in "to go" containers), it was evident we had a lot of meat to eat! RIBS: The ribs were fantastic and the sauce was excellent. A nice sweeter sauce, but not too sweet and nice consistency (not watery) and not too thick. The ribs pulled clean right off the bone just as they should (clean as a whistle!) and you could taste that smoke coating the meat. Not a biting smoke, just a nice amount to taste and not overpower the meat. Clean as a whistle! Lots of meat, no excess fat, a real winner. TRI-TIP: Definitely one of the best tri-tips I have had in a long time. Extremely moist, sliced thin (perfect), very tender, pulled apart with your fingers (it's BBQ come on, you don't need any utensils!). No fat, very lean and flavorful. Melted in your mouth. You almost didn't have to chew it, it was so tender. Not very often someone can get a tri-tip this tender and moist but they nailed it. Again the smoke nicely coated the meat just enough to make a great combination with sauce. CHICKEN: The chicken was very moist, tender, and again full of that great smoke flavor. The sauce (same sauce on everything) was perfect with the chicken. If you love pulled pork, you could shred this easily with your fingers and it would look just like pulled pork. It was that tender. With the sampler we ended up with a wing, thigh and breast. HOT LINKS: You can go mild or spicy and mild is boring, so spicy it was. On a scale of 1-10 these were probably a 4 by my book. A nice kick of heat but nothing that leaves a lingering tongue burn, eyes watering or gets your nose running. My wife does not like very spicy food and she thought this was fantastic. The links were perfect. Nice and tender, great smooth consistency, and the flavor was fantastic with the sauce. I definitely would stick with the "hot" as the heat really balances out the sweet of the sauce for a perfect combination. BAKED BEANS: The BB's were really good. This is a sweet baked bean with nice tender beans in fairly clear sauce with medium viscosity. I'm not a bean eater so I thought they were good but it's not something I'd have to order again as I really came for the meat. MAC-N-CHEESE: YES PLEASE! This is not your typical MNC. Using thick noodles (not the small Kraft MNC type) this dish was FANTASTIC. Lots of creamy cheese throughout and about as much cheese as noodle makes this dish a new favorite Mac-N-Cheese place for me. I could just order a bunch of side orders, throw it in a bowl and call it a night! This is not to be missed if you eat here. Super tasty, not bland, it's a classic done extremely well. COLLARED GREENS: I was suprised that a few minutes into the meal the owner gave us a side of the collared greens. They weren't on the menu and they do change the menu, so this was being prepared for "tomorrow", so that was a nice touch to the meal. The greens were great. Extremely tender, and flavorful, and not too salty. They really know how to do greens well. I have been searching for a long time for a place close by that serves good BBQ and finally I have something I can return to. They had a lot of pies and cake but I skipped that but suspect the sweet potato pie, pecan pie or any other pies they have are something that needs to be ordered on the next visit. I tried to go here the day before and no one answered the phone and I thought they were closed for the holiday but Tammy (owner) caught my caller ID and texted me they were open and missed my call. Thus, I returned the following day. Now that's dedication to getting customers! I was teetering between 4-5 stars due to the long wait for food but at the end of the day good food takes time and if you are heating all the meat in the oven to the proper temperatures it does take a while. All the meat was nice and hot so..... 5 stars. Nothing weird here......"JUST EAT IT!"

Super friendly service! We ordered for take out. We got the rib n tri tip and chicken dinner. Sides We got the potato Salad and the mac and cheese. The chicken was really good, tender! The salad had unique flavor and seasoning! We also got the cornbread and it had honey in the middle. The sauce and the cornbread weren't overly sweet so it was pleasing! Parking in the back. Good stuff!

Food: well damn... Mom and pop know how to 'throw down'. Short rib value meal- 3 ribs, potato and mac and cheese salad, can soda. Small Catfish meal, potato and mac and cheese salad. Total: $28 Drinks: Diet Coke Ambience: not the place for ambience, it's the place for food! The falafel sign is still in the window along with the decorations and chairs (assuming). There are 2 televisions that are not on, but the radio is jamming. Staff: mom n pop. Probably family members providing some of the deserts. (Assuming) Parking: a handful in the front or go to the back. The restaurant is right next to Red Chili Overall Experience: STRONG TIP: this is a strong 5/5 for food. Order for pick up! The wait takes awhile (which is okay when getting delicious food!). Not based on ambience. In time, I hope they invest in renovating (Branding) because they will be THE BEST BBQ RESTAURANT in the Bay Area.

Love their lunch combos, and can't get enough of their potato salad and ribs. Their green beans are another great side to go with. Great customer service, called in the order ahead of time and had no issue with pick up.

I'll admit, I ignored this place for the last two years since I moved to this town, because honestly? I hate potato salad. Potatoes aren't meant to be served cold. I've never tasted a potato salad I didn't think was gross. So I took one look at the name of this place and didn't look any deeper to see all the amazing other stuff they have. My husband and I have been looking for a good BBQ place for a while now too. There's a place at the farmer's market downtown on Saturdays, but half the time, they're not even there, and other than that, there's nothing. So we finally came to check this place out recently, and we'll definitely be back. Tried out a sample plate of links, tri-tip (I originally wrote brisket but it's not, still looking for a place that sells good brisket), chicken, and ribs, with sides of beans and yams. Everything was amazing. Chicken was falling apart so much that I couldn't even pick it up. Ribs were soft, but held together enough that I could pick them up. I really can't decide which one I liked best. It was all covered with the same delicious BBQ sauce. The beans were sticky and sweet, and the yams had a spice to them that I'm not used to. Cloves? Our 3-year-old daughter loved it all too; she probably ate more of it than we did! Definitely going on my list next time we've got a BBQ craving -- but call and order ahead. It can take a bit of time for them to make it.

I have nothing but amazing things to say about this place! Super friendly service, they called us by name throughout our whole dining experience!! Fresh and hot food! I got the small fried tilapia meal and the fish came it fresh out the fryer!! For my sides I got potato salad and green beans. The potato salad was a tad sweet but full of flavor! The highlight of the meal was definitely the hot and homemade peach cobbler!! Worth every penny!! Nice portions and reasonable prices.... 5 star hands down!!
