The 38 Best Restaurants in Paris, According to a French Food Expert

"Open for: Lunch, dinnerPrice range: $$This friendly wine bar and bistro is the perfect place to find excellent French comfort food and a great bottle of wine without the hassle of booking three months in advance. Scottish wine merchant and longtime Paris expat Tim Johnston founded the restaurant; today, his daughter Margaux runs the dining room while her French partner, Romain Roudeau, runs the kitchen. The pair orchestrate a Gallic gastronomic experience that lives up to their motto: “We always deliver the goods.” The menu follows the seasons, but the kitchen displays its style with dishes like celery soup with cockles; chives with whipped cream; sauteed wild mushroom with egg yolk and prosciutto cream; duckling filet with Swiss chard and chestnuts; and scallops with leek, baby potatoes, and parsley cream. Located in the 1st arrondissement.Best for: Rubbing elbows with the locals." - Alexander Lobrano

"It's a difficult question because you have to find a place that gathers two essential elements: discretion (avoid Café de Flore, Les Deux Amis or Le Nemours—I speak from experience), and a bit of a cool side (it's the first date, so you have to go to a bar or a restaurant which is a bit hip). In my opinion, Juveniles, rue de Richelieu is the perfect mix. It's a chic but unpretentious place in a classy (but not too edgy) neighborhood, where you can enjoy impeccable and affordable market cuisine (another advantage if you split the bill) and great natural wines." -Eugénie Trochu, Fashion & market editor, Head of fashion information, and Vogue Paris fashion editor"

Google
Excellent experience here at Juveniles. Decided to change things up and got the lamb dish and the monkfish as main courses. They were both tasty and packed with flavour. The burrata is not a starter to miss and also treat yourself to a local glass of wine here. Their wine list is vast and delicious. Ended the meal with the rice pudding, again something I would never order, but I would again after experiencing it here.

Google
The food is incredibly flavorful! This was our first time trying French cuisine, and it set the bar high. Plus, the staff is very friendly! Although the space is quite small, you’ll definitely want to come back for the amazing food and excellent service. Highly recommended!👌🏼👌🏼

Google
Absolute best food in Paris. I’ve never been a fan of fish but here it was served so perfectly, I’m in love. Worth visiting just for this place. Make sure to book it in advance.

Google
This may be my favorite restaurant in Paris. Central location, intimate with inventive dishes based on classic French cuisine and excellent wine choices. They have a plat du jour deal at lunch including a main, glass of wine and coffee for a very good price, although the regular menu was too tempting. It was so good that I returned a week later and the menu had completely changed, but the dishes remained complex and well thought out. Excellent coffee. Very warm and professional service.

Paris is the unrivaled King of cafe culture, and Juveniles is a notable jewel in that crown. Intimate and roaring with life, Juveniles excels at bringing absurdly good food and drink to the regular person. Balancing optionality with focus, Juveniles’s wine selection is on par with some of the most luxurious restaurants in Paris. Meanwhile, its food is sophisticated and fresh while remaining affordable to most. With a spectacular staff and an in restaurant energy like no other, it’s easy to see why this place is one of the most recommended Wine Bars in the city. Make your reservation early and go late (after 9) to maximize your experience. This is an easy choice to come back to!

Google
This was one of the best meals of my life and definitely the best we ate in Paris. At first I was concerned because there were a lot of English diners, and they were out of some options because they were closing the next day for the holidays, but the waitress and chef improvised a preparation of duck with an au jus and mashed potatoes to accommodate me. I’ve never tasted duck this good. Rice pudding was delicious too.

Google
One of the most amazing meals I’ve ever had. Menu changes regularly, but this evening had the mushroom & egg app (11/10), octopus (8/10) and duck entree (10/10). I would call the ambience intimate but not romantic necessarily (too brightly lit for that). Alex (Alix?) the server was phenomenal. Wish we had room for dessert! Lovely wine recs as well.

Google
Brilliant little spot near the Louvre. We stopped in for lunch around 12:30 with 5 and found a spot quite easily but it does fill up. Three of us ordered the fixed lunch menu which is a phenomenal deal, 21 euros lunch with a glass of wine and coffee. Food was phenomenal and the waitress very friendly. Please try it you will not be disappointed!!

Yelp
This is ALWAYS a go-to for myself and whoever else travels with me to Paris. The wine selection alone is worth the visit. You can just grab amazing small vineyard wines and go. But, if you are lucky enough to get a reservation stay for the food! The restaurant staff will pair your food with the special selection of wines that they carry. The menu is so special and changes regularly. I can't say enough good things about this small, special and magical place. I so look forward to visiting again next month

Yelp
Juveniles is near the Louvre and Notre Dame and is a great place to get food and wine. We had their short rib served in a puree sauce that enhanced its flavor so much more. This is a small spot and when somebody got up there would be somebody shortly to take the empty table. The service was terrific the staff were very knowledgeable about wine. This is a great spot that is tourist friendly where you can enjoy some wine and food.

Yelp
Our meal was yummy- this as our last night in Paris. Make a reservation- this place seats maybe 25 people. Hubby had beef cheek and I had their scallop dish. We both had their celery soup that mussels plus other yummy items like tiny croutons and peppers. All was delish. Of course we had a bottle of red French wine. No dessert for this meal- too full;) make a reservation and enjoy a yummy meal!

Yelp
Nice small restaurant in a busy Parisian neighborhood. Started with a nice cold bottle of Chablis to put us at ease. We ordered the special starter of roasted octopus and chorizo. We also started with the veal tongue croquette on a bed of julienned green apple. For mains, we had the roasted Guinea hen served with cauliflower purée and mushroom jus and the seared scallop dish with a shaved fennel salad. Finished the meal with a nice espresso. Very good and repeatable experience.

Yelp
Such a let down. Was recommended by several blogs and I worked HARD to get a reservation. Service was okay and the food was below average and not cheap. They were out of the soup special when I got there. I ordered the octopus app and the lamb dinner. The lamb was cooked to death, dry, and flavorless. The dish looked sloppy and not well thought out. I would skip this place as it was the only dinner of my two week trip that utterly disappointed me

Yelp
Had a wonderful and surprising meal here on Bastille Day for lunch. It wasn't what I typically thing of when thinking French food but in terms of freshness, tastiness, and skillful execution, I suppose it was very French. I enjoyed watermelon gazpacho and a burrata salad + rose. Amazing and would certainly return.

Yelp
Favorite Parisian meal from our two trips in the last few years. We had lunch in the small space which looked tight with the full house but still felt comfortable and spacious enough to enjoy our meal. Service was quite friendly and helpful which surprised me since I had a hard time when calling to make reservations with my limited French. On this day they spoke great English and made dining very easy. Starters were exceptional if a tad bit salty. Grilled razor clams with ginger and watercress with a buttery sauce. Delicious with the bread. The other was grilled octopus with new potatoes, sopraseda sausage, broad beans and sorrel cream. It was lovely. We could not decide which was better. The mains were equally strong: roasted rack of pork with Parmesan gnocchi and sautéed chard- excellent. The wild turbot fish was maybe even more delicious and came with several different side flavors too. There were many delectable bites in each dish that all went together beautifully. We had no room for dessert which saddens me but will save space next time. As we left the hostess told me that when I first arrived for our lunch (I had walked ahead of my wife since we were running late for our reservation) and told her "J'attends mon mari" I had said "I'm waiting for my husband" which made her laugh as she saw my beautiful wife come in so I also learned a little French over lunch!

Yelp
Found this place on a blog and it really was great! Simple wine bar that does everything well. We had the chanterelle mushrooms to start and Entrecôte as the main. The entrecôte also came with a salad and a really well whipped, creamy potatoes. They cook the entrecôte rare but to an American, it would be closer to medium-rare. It was a lot of food but too good to pass up!

Yelp
A reasonably priced french bistro in Paris. Not super fancy, not pretentious, but great food. The Croquettes of calves tongue were excellent, perfectly cooked, and a big hit. The Beef for two, was also excellent, although we sent it back for more cooking -- that might just be our preference. It was great before we sent it back, but too rare for my wife. A very nice Sancere was €40, and a great value. Highly recommended for a simple neighborhood bistro in the 2nd arrondissement near the Louvre.

Yelp
Juveniles is now my favorite restaurant in Paris. I totally understand why it has been so hard to get a reservation. The food and service is simply magnificient. The small menu ensures fresh food and ridiculously good food paired with wine for you right on the menu. Call ahead. Make and keep the reservation. You won't regret it.

A C.

Yelp
We had an excellent dinner here. Make a reservation in advance - they only have 11 tables. The chef is great! The menu is unique, the flavors were unique - unexpected - and delicious. It lacks atmosphere but makes up for it with the food. They have a wonderful selection of wine. The food menu is limited. A local recommended this spot.

Yelp
Very crowded interiors but good food. Boyfriend and I came for dinner at 9pm after visiting the nearby Musee de les Arts Decoratifs, and it was jam packed. We had a reservation and were seated right away by the lovely Scottish waitress. We had an awkward encounter in which I found the wine we ordered by the botte a little too acidic upon tasting it, so I asked if we could order something different, and the staff was hesitant about it but also accomodating and ultimately agreed. I chose a very sweet white wine by the glass and my boyfriend had a glass of red. We shared the cured meats platter (€13.5) which had many slices of delicious ham and sausage. I had the lamb main (€20) and my boyfriend had the cod (€22). Both were very good. I'm not sure I would return since there are so many restaurants in Paris and it wasn't an outstanding meal, but it was a pleasant experience.

Bruce G.

Yelp
I give Juveniles 5 stars because 4 for is just not enough. This wine bistro (it's a wine retailer, too) is much more than good. I did a lot of restaurant research before this visit because I wanted to get out of my Paris restaurant box. Juveniles was an excellent choice. Very good food & wine coupled with a small, but cozy room and excellent casual serevice hit the mark for me. It was totally sold out for our seating which made the place hum in a warm & comforting way. When we left there was a line of folks waiting to take our still-warm seats.

Bill L.

Yelp
We went to Juveniles after 9 days in Paris and I have to say it was probably the best dinner we had! We started with the octopus as a starter and 2 of us had sea bass while our son had the lamb entree. We never ate at the same place twice but this is one place we would have visited again had we stayed longer. Service was phenomenal as was the ambiance. This is the must go to place for a top notch meal in Paris. Best we had. And they are great with the wines!

Yelp
This is probably the best food you'll have. The server was really nice and very friendly. Order the chicken. It was so yummy. And the chocolate cake for desert it was the yummiest thing I have ever eaten in my whole life PS- this review was written by a nine year old

Yelp
Wow! I'd give this a 4.5 if it was an option. Wonderful service and perfect food. The space is small, so be sure to reserve. The wine list has great and reasonable options. The plates were perfectly tailored to the hot and humid Paris weather this past week. So glad we found this on Parisbymouth.

Yelp
This place was so quaint and charming! I didn't expect to be blown away by the meal, but I truly was. We started with the burrata, but it's not how it's done at every other restaurant. They paired it with fresh peas, zucchini tempura and a pesto that was absolutely amazing. I had the rabbit which was fantastic and my husband had the duck. Honestly, we couldn't decide which meal was better! The service was wonderful! The owner was especially kind and welcoming. You will definitely need reservations as they turned away a lot of walk ins. They were very gracious though and offered each person reservations at a later date. This place is a must if you are traveling in Paris.

Yelp
So far, after 2 weeks living in Paris this is the best restaurant we have been to. No frills. No pompous decor or stiff atmosphere. Just great food, great wine, and a great family owned establishment. Make reservations due to the small space. Allow the server/owner to recommend the wine. They speak English very well for us novice French learners. I recommend this to anyone wanting the real atmosphere of Paris. Afterwards take a walk through the nearby palace gardens.

Yelp
To be completely honest, the only reason I ate here was because Verjus across the street was still closed for renovations. But I'm glad I did, because Juvéniles is a cozy, friendly, unpretentious spot with decent food and really outstanding service. I started with a very generous plate of Charcuterie: three different types of meats, sliced paper thin, served with bread, butter, and cornichons. Delicious, but way too much for one person. Better perhaps for three or four people. But seeing that I could not finish, the very affable owner, Margaux, who speaks English by way of Scotland, offered to wrap up the rest to take with me, which is something I have never had a French restaurant do before, and for which I was very grateful. I'm more ambivalent about my main course, the equally-filling Wild Mushroom Risotto. It was full of flavor but also highly seasoned, which is to say on the salty side. But it was cooked to a perfect al dente. Some of the garlic slices that topped the dish were burnt though, which gave a dish a bitter flavor. I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure I would order it again. Because Juvéniles is also a wine bar, I paired both dishes with wines -- a Rosé for the first and a red Languedoc (I think) for the second. Both were simple but paired very nicely with the food. The entire left side of the restaurant as you enter is comprised of bins of wines for sale. They have both prices displayed -- one to go and one to open at the table. Although Juvéniles wasn't initially on my food radar, I certainly would not hesitate to dine here again. 3 1/2 stars

Yelp
I have a weird life. In the last week I have had Taco Bell in Miami, Bar-B-Q in Charlotte, Pizza in Minnesota, Indian in San Francisco, Octopus in Napa, Mexican in Indianapolis and finally duck in Paris - ok...9 days. The canard at Juveniles is outstanding (charred on the outside and rare on the inside). Also outstanding are the wine and the charcuterie and especially the cheddar cheese for dessert. But the best of all about Juveniles is the feeling that I'm eating in, not out. I have a weird life.

Yelp
Small restaurant on a side street. Excellent friendly service. Thank you Margaux! Minimal but thoughtful menu and a choice of good wines at a reasonable cost. Did I mention the service was excellent? And don't feed the dog!

Yelp
Go here now! This is one of my all time favorite dining experiences and I wished I lived in Paris so I could go here weekly. They have a fantastic wine list at very reasonable prices and a small but well executed menu. Every dish we ordered was thoughtfully composed and perfectly executed. The space is intimate and just the right size for the one waitress to to keep up with each table. The celery root soup was one of the best things I ate in Paris, and my boyfriend's gnocchi was the best he'd ever had (and he loves pasta). We also had the lamb and cod which were both perfectly cooked, and a dessert with clementines and a lemon crumble. They have extensive shelves of wine bottles for sale with a packet guide to find what you'd like. The quality of everything we had - both food and wine - was superb and the prices were incredibly reasonable. We had 3 glasses of wine, 2 small dishes, 2 main dishes, a dessert and 3 bottles to take away - all for 135 euros. Incredible experience!

Sarah K.

Yelp
We loved our dishes, the service and the atmosphere. Yes, it is very small but it's charming. Email them ahead of time to secure your spot and enjoy! We ordered several to try but my favorite was the grilled octopus.

Yelp
So I wanted to impress my wife with "authentic" French cuisine. After walking my wife an amazing amount for the day, I felt something "French" was in order. First, we noticed this place was packed...deservingly so. It is small and quaint but one table was open. As I got the menu the French language terrified me. I have to give our waiter credit, he recognized us immediately for not speaking French. He spoke to us in English and explained the menu. He then told us the specials and asked if we were lactose intolerant. I ordered the pork with mashed potatoes and my wife had the fish with a potato salad. I noticed "Haggis" was on the menu and thought that odd for a "French" restaurant. The food was delicious. It was served with two types of bread and a vast selection of wines. The food was fast, hot, and delicious. The service was excellent. Towards the end I started to notice the "Scotch" ads and even scotch bottles. Then as I was checking out I sheepishly asked if they were a French restaurant as I truly thought It was. Turns out it is a Scottish restaurant. Oops. What a pleasant mistake. Thanks Juveniles....I recommend you to anyone and everyone!

Yelp
I don't give many 5 star reviews, but Juveniles deserves it. We tried to go there last night but it was packed, so we went to another very good nearby restaurant. I phoned today and got a reservation. We were seated immediately upon arrival. The wait staff all speak fluent English and welcomed us. The food and service were outstanding. We split a salad that was superb. I ordered the lamb dish, which was excellent, and my wife ordered Skate fish, which was very mild and tender. She loved it. We began the meal with Kir. We haven't had Kir in years but it was wonderful. My wife loved the wine she ordered and I had a nice beer. For dessert I ordered rice pudding with butterscotch. It was fantastic. If this wasn't our last night in Paris I would return. This was the best restaurant we ate in during our five days in Paris, and for Paris that's saying something.

Yelp
Wonderful tight but intimate setting with exquisite local cuisine. Reservations are a must as the space seats about 20-25 people, but well worth the efforts.

Yelp
One of the best wine bars on the contemporary Parisian wine scene is Juveniles, a cosy wine bar cum wine shop in the 1st Arrondissement on the Left Bank, at 47 rue de Richelieu, very close to Palais Royal, the Louvre and the Grands Boulevards further north. Juveniles was started by a Scot and a Brit a few years ago, Tim Johnston and Mark Williamson. Tim Johnston worked at Mark Williamson's (the Brit) Willis' Wine Bar from 1981. They created a wine dealership under the name of Great Grape Traders in 1984. In 1987, they opened the Juvéniles shop, selling wine and serving some tapas with wine. Juveniles became an outlet for off the beaten track wines that they would dig up from all over France. In 1998, the two long-time associates separated and Tim took the wheel on Juvéniles and Great Grape Traders. By that time, Juveniles had asserted itself on the Paris wine bar scene and began sourcing wines from further away. In the early 1990s, Tim made two trips to Australia and started to import wine from there. Juveniles became, with Willis' Wine Bar, the only place in Paris at the time to sell Australian wines, causing quite a stir. Juveniles is today a 'cult' Parisian wine bar and a fabled pit stop on the international wine bar circuit. Not only does it offer a wonderful selection of both French and other Old World, but also New World wines; and it maintains an excellent kitchen. Mark Williamson continues to run the nearby Willis' Wine Bar and also neighboring Maceo Restaurant. http://schiller-wine.blogspot.com/2010/05/cult-paris-wine-bar-juveniles.html

Yelp
This is a lovely local bistro with wonderful wine and good food. This is a small place, so I was glad when we were able to make a reservation in advance of coming to Paris. We were welcomed by the owner's daughter (I believe) who also suggested wonderful wine to pair with our meals. The food is basic, but very good and even more reasonably priced. We very much enjoyed our evening here.

Yelp
Nice - tiny - wine bar. We stopped in for a late, light lunch (after 2). The menu was dominated by Scottish/British menu items. My friend and I opted to share a cheese plate as well as the fioe gras terrine. The cheeses selected were excellent - we didn't get the names but it included a "stinky" cheese, a soft creamy cheese and a couple of hard cheeses - yum. The fois gras was excellent and accompanied by toast and a fig jam. We weren't especially picky in our wine selection. I had a very good rose while my friend had a merlot - both were good enough to cause us to order a second glass.
google avatar

Paul T.

Yelp
So this place was by far the best meal I had while I was in Europe. It was recommended to me by a few friends that had visited a couple months earlier. I got the foie gras and this dish alone has turned me into a foie gras lover for life. A definite must have with a cab/merlot. Also had the crostini Ron, which was out of this world. Then tried the Duck breast confit which was amazingly tender, succulent and seared to perfection. Note that you must have some wine to accompany these dishes, as it will take your taste buds to another level. I can't wait to go back.

Lesley E.

Yelp
Came here as a recommendation from many locals and websites, and we were overwhelmingly pleased with our whole experience. This a must restaurant for the food, wine, staff, and overall ambiance. We opted for the special that day, a whopping 17 euro to include a glass of the "wine of the moment". It was a lovely plate of carre du cochon (pork loin), butternut squash puree, sage butter drizzle, toasted almonds, blanched cabbage leaves, and roasted turnips. The food was perfect in execution and flavor, simplicity coming together in perfect harmony. The wine was a deep red beaujolais, much different that beaujolais nouveau, and was so good we ordered a half bottle in addition. As we scoped the room as it filled up (probably only seats 22 people at its max), we noticed that the majority of the patrons also ordered the special. But, the regular menu also looked as inviting, with a few offerings but emphasis on quality, integrity of ingredients, and plating. If you are looking for other wines, they have a lovely list of other wines from around France and Europe to choose from. They also offer their own "whiskey" for 8 euro a glass or 65 euro a bottle for take away. The place is owned by a Scotsman, whose daughter runs it now with her boyfriend as the chef in the kitchen. They are extremely kind and warm and very engaging.

Yelp
Duck duck duck duck... GOOSE! Ok, no goose - just duck - The duck here was ab...solutely...amazing! We had it served medium and it was still perfectly tender, loads of flavor. This was by far the most amazing duck I have ever eaten. Head and shoulder above the other places we went to in Paris. The only downside is that we only ordered one! We also got the cheese plate - a load of different cheeses (blue, goats, cheddar, brie) with bread. Wow - the blue cheese stood out the most... wow - it was a mild flavored blue cheese - subtle... wonderful. The bread was as perfect as one might imagine. Things couldn't get much better! To top it off, the service was excellent, we couldn't ask for more! Juvéniles definitely goes on the favorites list!

Chris S.

Yelp
Juveniles was mine and my wife's absolute favorite dinner in Paris, and our trip included a dinner at Le Jules Verne in the Eiffel Tower! Our hotel was able to score us a reservation and, if you plan to come, I highly recommend doing the same. It is a very small space stacked to the ceiling with wine. I'd guess it doesn't seat more than 26 people in the dining room at the most. Small didn't mean cramped, though. We were comfortably cozy at our table. We were very warmly greeted when we came in and got our first round of drinks quickly. She went with a Kir Royal and I had a glass of their house scotch, which is masterfully blended for them by the good folks at Compass Box. The scotch was so good that I got a bottle to take home! We ordered the burratina starter, pork for me and veal for her as our mains, and the chocolate dessert. Everything was perfectly cooked, full of wonderful flavors, and beautifully presented. Make no mistake, this is not the haute cuisine you would expect at a multi-Michelin starred restaurant, it's something that, for me, is so much better. It is real, straightforward food that you almost feel like you could make at home if only you had the talent. The portions are perfect, leaving your stomach satisfied even though your tastebuds yearn for more. Even better, the prices are very reasonable, especially for Paris. Including several drinks and all our food, we spent less than €120! We will definitely be back next time we are in Paris. I almost hate to leave a good review, because I don't want too many people to find out about our favorite spot, but these guys deserve it!

Yelp
This restaurant was a blessing on our trip to Paris. The list of restaurants from the hotel failed us. Luckily I had consulted the premiere food/restaurant blog to be our guide. It led us just around the corner to this lovely spot run by a Scotsman. Just what these Anglophiles needed. The service and food were all exceptional and we went most nights of our weeklong trip to Paris. We would certainly visit again when we're back in the city! (in fact, it might be our first stop, right after picking up macarons) :)

Yelp
A wonderful find in Paris! This adorable wine bar and bistro was the perfect place to stop in for a fantastic glass of wine and delicious food. The service was helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend you walk away from the touristy spots dotting the area and make a reservation here!

Yelp
Super cute cozy restaurant with fantastic food. We had the clams, calamari risotto and Seanad. Honestly everything was delicious.
google avatar

Anna W.

Yelp
Small space with excellent food. We had a red broth based fish soup which was absolutely excellent followed by a fish fillet dish which was also excellent. The pork special was forgettable as the meat was a little tough. We only speak English and felt very welcomed. Great wines, too. Reasonably priced given that it's the Euro vs USD and Paris! This was one of our favorite meals the entire 8 nights, The only regret is we did not find them sooner.
google avatar

Ann T.

Yelp
It was our first night in Paris and I had booked a table at Juveniles because I had read that the staff was welcoming and the food great. We loved Juveniles and our amazing waiter, Cami. Had a nice Tourain Sauvignon 2012 Domaine des Corbillieres. We enjoyed the rondelles des pomme de terre gratinées à la Raclette et au lardones (potatoes w cheese) and the salade de St. Maure rôti sur toasts (goat cheese rounds atop greens).
google avatar

Sunny K.

Yelp
Theres a homey feel here that I appreciated. The pork special of the day had an interesting vietnamese twist and was reasonably priced at 16.5 euros with a glass of vin and coffee.

Yelp
Food was a highlight of our trip. Casual atmosphere, not fancy. Served by daughter of owner who was tremendously nice. Asparagus and chorizo were memorable as was the "local" white fish. Desserts were incredible. Apple crisp and rice pudding were right on. And loved the 2013 clape cote du Rhone

Meaghan S.

Yelp
So good we came here twice on our honeymoon!Thoughtful service, delicious food, and incredible wine pairings. This cozy little spot was a Parisian dream. Can't recommend it enough!

Chris M.

Yelp
I've been to Juvenile's about once or twice per year over the past 10 years. The food is always good and the service friendly (usually bilingual French/English). The "tapas" on the storefront is a bit of an understatement, given that the menu offers appetizer, main course & dessert but you can go for a few appetizers and call it tapas if you want! The reason to go is the wine! The owner is mindful of the fact that a great wine doesn't have to cost a lot. His curiosity and passion for wine shows not only on the wine list but more importantly in your mouth (& nose)!! If he's around try to get him to make some recommendations. The staff is generally well informed about the wines they serve but nothing can replace the experience and love for wine that you see when talking to him. And, my favorite part is: if you like what you had for dinner, you can buy a few bottles on your way out; the place doubles as a wine store. The location is a bit of a hole in the wall - albeit an elegant one. The renovation, which must date back a few years now, helped a lot and the deco is very tasteful and warm and much more comfortable (gone are the stacks of wine cases, like leaning towers of Pisa, which sometimes towered precariously by tables - for the most part, anyway). Great value for money. Good for a casual business lunch, dinner dates or wine tasting with a few friends who love wine and good food!

Yelp
Delicious 3 euro glass wine! The duck was delicious and tender as many had mentioned but I think the star goes to the mashed potato and the gratin dauphinois. So flavourful! I love the cozy and laid back atmosphere of the place. Will definitely go back to drink and eat again. The staff are friendly--a rarity in paris for the past couple months of dining out. They were actually welcoming and smiling! They were great =). Lovely place.

Yelp
Delicious, creative food! Cool atmosphere. Great wine for a really good price. Good service.

Yelp
Fantastic, tasty food. The restaurant itself is a bit small, and the service was not as attentive as could be, but the food was approaching fabulous. The wine was also very good and reasonably priced.

Yelp
Perhaps my expectations were high based on my friend's recommendation, but Les Juveniles was very les average. The food was decent, but not exceptional. I had the three course prix fixe: course 1-salmon mousse on toasts, course 2- boiled chicken on top of puréed carrots and dressed with baked brussels sprouts, course 3- creme brûlée. My co-pilot ordered the soup du jour (a chili broth soup, no meat), followed by the lasagne of mushroom and pesto. For drinks: a Kir Royal to start and she had champagne. Later ordered 1/2 carafe of a house red. The service was OK. It was over 2 hours to get three courses. The resto itself was freezing cold and even though i was practically sitting in the laps of the diners on wither side of me, it was still not warm (my co-pilot was in the same situation and she was frozen by night's end. It was expensive. Not a value meal. We wont return to Les Juveniles. There are simply way to many better restaurants to explore in Paris. Very loud also.

Yelp
We've come to Juveniles ever since it first opened and have always loved it. The big news is that Tim Johnston has turned over day-to-day management to his daughter Margaux and the kitchen to chef Romain Roudeau. The transition has gone really well, the service and wine are as good as ever and Romain's cuisine is outstanding. In the spring we had the best asparagus dish ever, and more recently both the fish and duck have been outstanding. The mixed salamis and cheese plates are carefully selected, top ingredients and are our standbys when we don't want a full meal. Keep up the good work !

Yelp
Poor experience and very uninviting. I walked in at 9pm and was greeted by a server. The place was full and i was prepared to wait as I've heard decent reviews from friends. I asked for a table and the server simply said 'no'. I asked if I could wait for a seat? Or how long is the wait?" He ignored me and walked to the kitchen, then back- looked me up and down and said "no, it's impossible". The place was open for another hour and a half! How and why? I've never been offended this way in a restaurant. If you want to ruin you night, be sure to stop by! All the best

Yelp
Great place for a cozy and unfussy French meal! My friends and I dined there last week and we all really enjoyed our dinner. We went as walk-ins on a Tuesday night and were accommodated right away. The service is lovely with the nicest people! The food is somewhere between gastro and elevated home cooking. Lots of interesting flavors, generous portions and everything cooked perfectly. I had a lamb shoulder with homemade harissa and artichokes, very earthy and homey while my friends had more refined French dishes with a twist - duck breast with beans and gnocchi for example. All of the flavors worked, especially with the wines that were suggested by their helpful sommelier. The only thing we weren't fans of were the rice pudding which, had it been slightly warmed, may have made a big difference. I've heard that Donald's chocolate cake is the dessert to get so I'll try that next time. I'll definitely be back!
