16 Spots for Takeout Sandwiches - Eater San Diego

"K Sandwiches’ temporary closure due to a fire in 2015 did nothing to slow down this popular Vietnamese shop. Banh mi sandwiches are the big draw but the shop is also known for breakfast sandwiches featuring their storemade croissants and French loaves. Egg rolls, salad rolls, rice and noodles dishes and fresh pastries round out the rest of the menu." - Darlene Horn

Nice and decent banh mi. I had a passion fruit tea and a xiu mai banh mi. The xiu mai tasted like sauce on Bolognese. It was actually good! Total $16. Wanted to try their Chinese sausage and egg, sounds creative to me.

We visited this restaurant for the first time, which we had been curious about for a while. We ordered a Japanese drink and a Vietnamese sandwich. The food tasted good, the portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable.

Fast and friendly service. Lots of grab and go items. Food came out very quickly. The bread was fresh, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The lemongrass tofu was sweet and a lil spicy. Perfect for an early lunch. There's plenty of seating. It's a great spot to work on your computer or meet with a friend.

One of my favorite places to visit for a quick Vietnamese lunch. They have banh mi sandwiches with many flavors/meat choices to choose from. I loved that they have meat pies, sesame balls, three bean desserts, etc. There’s a small market section where you can find Vietnamese snacks, drinks and pastries. The price was reasonable and the service was quick. There are limited indoor seating by the window and some patio seats available.

We have been coming to K Sandwiches for decade, a longtime community favorite Vietnamese place for banh mi, hot and cold beverages from avocado shake to Vietnamese iced coffee, various delicious Vietnamese hot meals such as banh cuon, shrimp spring rolls, sticky rice, etc., breakfast meals, Vietnamese desserts and fresh baked goods. This place has a constant stream of regulars, students/teachers from local schools and community colleges and professionals from local hospitals. When you walk in, stand in the queue and order at one of the two registers in the front. They will call your order number when your food/drink is ready for pickup. This place is not fancy but clean and spacious and budget friendly and their American and Vietnamese sandwiches are delicious and priced well (average was under $10). You can even get a large bags of baguette ends for under $2. There are plenty of outdoor and indoor seating and decent parking lot. We recommend this place for quick lunch and for their delicious banh mi sandwiches.

Google
I give K Sandwiches a solid 5. The food was fresh, there's a bakery on-site, service was courteous and efficient. I ordered the grilled pork Ban Mi and it came with seasoned grilled pork, pickled jicama, cilantro, jalapeños, pickled carrots on a baguette. It seemed like there was a light sauce that added to the flavor without dripping out or making the baguette soggy. My friend got the avocado smoothie which had a nice light avocado flavor and it's made with real avocado not powder. I also picked up pastries to take home. The chocolate croissant was a favorite. I would recommend K Sandwiches for sandwiches, bakery - and smoothies. We ate on the patio outside. The shop was getting busy, we were there just before 11am on a Saturday, the staff kept up with orders and there was plenty if seating. I've adjusted the atmosphere rating due to the tables inside weren't clean- they needed just a wipe down after each patron left.

Been going here since before it burned down and then reopened. Best Bahn Mi in SD. Super fresh bread and baked goods. Go to orders #1 Special Bahn Mi, #9 Grilled Pork Bahn Mi, any of the spring rolls, croissant with ham cheese jalapeno.

I read about this place. I was very excited to go here. My first Banh Mi ever, back in 1993 was in Linda Vista area, at a Vietnamese Supermarket. I've been hooked ever since. I was recently in San Diego for one week, and only got a chance for one Banh Mi, so I chose this place based on the reviews. When I arrived it was already busy around 11AM. The crowd was from young and old, and various races. I loved what I was seeing! You could literally smell fresh baked breads from the parking lot. Anyway, I went in, waited in line and ordered two Banh Mi Dac Biet. That's the one with cold cuts and Pate on it. I was still a bit fill since I just came from eating Pho, but these would be good on the flight back to Hawaii. I ate one sandwich on the plane, and honestly, I thought there was not enough meat or flavor. It was ok, and the price was much better that those in Hawaii. But honestly, I was not impressed. I've had better from Vietnamese grocery stores. The store was clean, and the staff was awesome. Very good vibe and ambiance. But the Banh Mi was a bit underwhelming. Worth another try though. Want to try their banana pudding next time.

Yelp
My family and I have been coming here for over a decade, and the food has always been delicious! Their prices did go up recently, which I understand, but their sandwiches are so worth it! The service is always fast and everyone working is kind. I am vegetarian and LOVE their #8 sandwich and I'm OBSESSED with their house pickles! So much so that I buy a container of them from their refrigerated section to add to my food. They also offer baked goods that are 10/10! We always get the ham and cheese & chocolate croissants. I love their drink selection and appreciate the packaged snacks they display in the middle of the restaurant. This place is a must if you're in San Diego!

Yelp
Situated in Kearney Mesa , parking can be a bit tight but not too difficult to traverse. You can smell the fresh baked bread fuming out of the shop. The banh mis are exquisite, give any flavor a try. If you're feeling breakfast , you will never regret the ham and cheese croissant :) But what i come here for is the Caramel freezie !!! Amazing drink

Yelp
K Sandwiches is my go to spot for Banh Mi and other Vietnamese deli goodies. They are notably always busy during lunch time and a line formed by the time I was walking around the store. Prices are fair and they offer lots of unique Vietnamese desserts and pastries that I cannot find from my local Asian grocery market. I always get their Dac Biet, however, I find that they could pack some more protein/ luncheon meat! Other wise, the pickled veggies and the bread are among the freshest! K Sandwiches is definitely a staple here and great for a quick bite.

Yelp
K Sandwiches is known for its Vietnamese bánh mì, which packs all the right flavors. The baguette is perfectly crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and filled with a mix of savory meats like grilled pork, chicken, or cold cuts. Add in the classic pickled veggies, fresh cilantro, and a spicy kick from the jalapeños, and you've got yourself a bánh mì that's both satisfying and a little bit of a flavor explosion. Whether you go classic or adventurous, these sandwiches are a must-try for any bánh mì lover.

Yelp
Is it good yes, is it overrated yes, would I go out my way to come here no, if I'm in the area & crave a Bahn Mi Sandwich would I come here yes. Been here a couple times & the times I've been here the bread for my grilled pork Bahn Mi was a bit too crunchy for me, veggies in it were fresh & the meat was flavorful. But it had too much fat in it, I don't mine but my girls did. The egg rolls were ok, a bit small tho compared to other places I go. Boba was good nothing out of this world. Service was nice & fast & they make their own bread which is cool. Over all it was good but very basic, in my opinion people hype it up too much. Would I come back if I'm in the area or someone wants to take me, yes. This place has its loyal customers & I'm glad & like I said it's good but for me I stick to other places in my area for my Bahn Mi, Egg Rolls & Boba like Pho Cow 7 in National City but if in the area I'd come back.

Yelp
One of my favorite Banh Mi places. #9 pork with extra veggies and a Thai tea always hits the spot. My friend loves to experiment with items I didn't know existed! She got the pork over noodles dish and a dessert similar to flan. Sooo good! Service is always friendly and quick. I didn't give five stars because the an older lady started cleaning the floors at 5pm even though they close at 6pm! Yuck! We left because of the overwhelming smell of cleaning products. It was weird.

Yelp
Ordered online for pick up which was a good idea because it was quite busy when I visited. The parking isn't too hard but the spots are kind of small. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The menu has a lot of options and the inside has a small shop section for snacks and other items. I ordered the Grilled Pork Banh Mi which was pretty solid. I liked that the bread wasn't too thick that it dried out my mouth and there was a good amount of protein in it. I would definitely come back again for solid Banh Mi's!

Yelp
A true treasure in Kearny Mesa and a longtime favorite place for sandwiches. A wonderful selection of sandwiches freshly made by professionals that make hundreds of sandwiches each and every day. Also, check out to the left of the pickup counter for the complete selection of fresh and delicious Vietnamese hot meals. They even have breakfast meals at reasonable prices. And the bakery selection of a variety of croissants is incredible!!! Plus a mini market of Asian dry goods is very convenient. The drinks are also great. I tried the special Vietnamese Egg Coffee with egg foam. I had it hot and it was wonderful and perfectly sweet. You can tell when a place is successful when despite a simple menu and a clean place, they enjoy a constant stream of regulars who know value and quality. Service is friendly and quick and a very comfortable place to eat, indoors or outdoors, you'll leave satisfied and happy with a smile.

Yelp
This fast and casual restaurant has really good Vietnamese snacks! Their service is quick and the variety of snacks and sandwiches is great.

Yelp
Craved some quick Vietnamese food, so popped in to grab Togo. Two registers were a bit confusing. If you want Banh Mis, you order from the one on the right. If you want anything else, pay on the left. I order 2 Banh Mi Cha Lua with Patê, 1 Pork Banh Bao, 1 Patêchaud, 4 eggrolls and 1 tray of Banh Cuon. I ended up eating the eggrolls while, I waited. It came with sweet chili dipping sauce which I skipped. I like mine with fish sauce. They were smallish, very crispy, but lacking in filling. The Patêchaud was hot and flaky, the filling was different from what I'm accustomed to but still tasty. The Banh Mi were long in size but lacking in filling. Mostly baguette, barely any patê or pickled veggies. I was expecting cilantro, white onions and cucumbers too. This was my least favorite. The Banh Cuon was enough for two meals. It came with Nem Chua, cooked bean sprouts, lettuce, Cha Lua, fried onions and fish sauce. The Banh Cuon was foiled with pork and Woodear mushrooms and was very tasty. Interior is clean, organized and tables and chairs are available for dine in guests. Overall I enjoyed 2/5 items. Wouldn't drive out of my way to come back, but if in the neighborhood I would definitely pop in.

Yelp
I like this place. The only thing that irks me is that every time I ask for extra veggies or extra veggie anything, it always seems like a normal sandwich or even less. They charge $.60 or something for additional veggies. It makes me so mad! I obviously put additional entries for the extra veggies and everything and every single time it looks like they didn't even add anything. So what's the point of adding "extra veggies" or extra house pickles or anything even after inputting multiple times of the veggies. They don't add anything. My advice is to just get the veggies on the side. You definitely would get way more. I thought it was only a one time thing that happens, but unfortunately every time I get my sandwich it's the same. It's pretty tasty, I usually get the k special with pate. I just hate that with my initial order I clearly ask for the extra veggies and which ones and of how much, but it isn't applied to my actual order. Then I have to be charged to ask for the extra veggies I originally asked for. My go to is the honeydew milk tea with no boba and it's good. Taro boba for my daughter she likes. The strawberry one was a no go.

Yelp
Meh. Was excited to check this place out because I'm a huge banh mi fiend. Maybe coming from San Jose set the bar too high. It definitely is the most popular banh mi joint in the area and it was super packed when I came (Sunday lunch time). I waited about 10 min for my sandwich, so nothing too bad. I also got the shrimp spring rolls, pandan honeycomb cake and viet coffee. Sandwich: I got the cha lua pate sandwich. The cha was fine, pate had a weird taste and it was missing cucumbers like other banh mis. The only thing adding taste to it was the pickled carrots and daikon, which were ok. Spring rolls: also just ok, shrimp tasted a bit old so that was off putting. Pandan honeycomb cake (banh bo nuong): was disappointed as I thought they made these fresh daily and I got the last one so was excited to try it but it was so dry and stale I didn't even finish 1/4 of it. Coffee: fine, no complaints.

Yelp
K sandwiches rivals Lee's sandwiches. So yummy! The service is good, but there is always a line. The sandwich shop also has a little store inside with all the good snacks!

Yelp
My mom and I came here for a quick lunch. I had been here many years ago and I still remember how good the sandwiches were the first time I came here. #9 Grilled Pork (Thit Nuong): 5 stars! OMG. delicious marinated pork, fresh veggies all on a delicious bun! (My mom picked the jalapeno slices out). I would order this dish again and again. Service: 5 stars. walk in, stand in the queue and order at the register. The food comes out fast, and there are some items one can order that are pre-made such as egg rolls and wraps. This place is not fancy. There's a little grab n' go section for beverages, and a few seats to sit and eat. I look forward to coming back for another delicious sandwich!

Yelp
I hadn't been in K Sandwiches in a while. After the remodel the prices went up which is understandable. Then comes covid and prices went up again . Next bidenomics upped the prices placing them out of the range in which I was comfortable paying. So I purdy much stopped going there. Today I was, surfing the webb and discovered I could order online I tried one of my usuals, the grilled pork. The website said it would be ready in 20 min. It was. It was customized as ordered. Seems like it was a couple dollars more than my last visit. The pork was rather bland it wasn't as flavorful as I recalled them being. It seemed to me there was more pork and veggies than before. I personally would have had it with less filling at a lower cost. The gal at the counter was pleasant. The dining room was clean. The restrooms was in need of some TLC. It would have been nicebif it had hot water. This may have been an operator error on my part. I may just go back if they send me amessage telling me that the Chicken curry is on sale at a drastically reduced price.

Yelp
It must have been almost 10 years since I've been to K Sandwhiches. Located conveniently on the corner of Linda Vista Road and Mesa College Drive, in Kearny Mesa. You can't miss it. And, you maybe become obsessed with it. It was around 10am when I made my visit. Wasn't sure what to expect. I did, however, feel overwhelmed upon my initial entry into the deli/market place. People were all over the place, from placing orders at the register, at the food pick up counter, and the bakery. The majority of tables were occupied. Luckily, I found a booth at the corner with a window. It must have been the morning rush (about 30 minutes). There were times the order line went beyond the entrance door. Nonetheless, wait time for my order- I'm guessing- felt like no more than 5 minutes. Food was made fresh and delicious. So was the watermelon drink. Perfectly the right amount of sweet. If you're looking for comfy and cozy seatings, K Sandwiches is not the place. Its modern interior felt cold and more on the warehouse look. All food and drink displays were neat and orderly, but boxes everywhere. There was a candy machine that was semi-blocking the entrance hallway to the bathroom. Was an odd area to place. My experience at K Sandwhiches was a good one. A must-try and recommmend

Yelp
The goi cuon/spring rolls tend to be made fresh and are always a yummy choice! We tried the Banh U Dau Xanh as well. It was just okay with little filling but a nice snack on the go. The place was packed and filled with people on the weekend around noon!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a little kitchen + grab and go place that is perfect if you are on a crunch for a fresh sandwich and lunch. The sandwiches are priced well (average was under $10) and the ingredients were fresh! They offered some Asian styled snacks and desserts, an array of drinks and banh mi options, and a general selection of soft drinks and American snacks. The vibes give that you get your sandwich and eat it inside the car or elsewhere; hence the grab and go style. The sandwich itself was awesome for a quick lunch, and I could save half of it and eat it later :D The coffee also tasted great, but was definitely not filled all the way, which I wish it were personally. Service is general and pretty standard in the interactions, nothing crazy! In general, I would definitely come back and try some of the other options they have~

Yelp
Good Banh Mi in Kearny Mesa. I had the grilled pork as per recommendation, and I must admit it blew me away. Service was fast and easy, and I have no complaints, other than perhaps the over-reliance on radishes. However, the sandwich was so good I didn't even have the time to take a photo, before I had finished it all. Price is very affordable, especially considering the amount of food.
google avatar

Eva G.

Yelp
When I'm in the area, I enjoy an avocado shake that's perfect for an "on the go" meal. I do like their sesame balls here and I make sure I pick up a few extra for family that likes them too!
google avatar

Judy L.

Yelp
I remember coming here all the time back when I was a student and the sandwich prices were $3-$5 but now sandwich price has gone up to $6-$8. But in all honestly the price is still pretty low and fair and the taste is just as I remembered. The baguette was fresh where it was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Perfect amount of meat to pickled vegetables and herbs ratio, and each bite always blended so well together. The breakfast sandwich was also delicious with a freshly baked flakey buttery croissant and well worth the price for how big it is! I won't, however, get their coffees again. The caramel iced latte was insanely sweet and as you can see from the picture more ice than coffee. As it's always been in the past, this place was packed with customers but the service was still very fast and efficient where I didn't have to wait too long. K sandwiches will always be somewhere I love to go when I need a quick and cheap eat.
google avatar

Vixnee e.

Yelp
The service was alright, popping out food quick but not the drinks. The tables & seats weren't clean, the table I waited at had crumbs on it including the chairs. The sandwich overall was just like any other basic sandwich but what really got me was that there was no flavor. not really seeing the hype for this place - I ordered the Turkey & cheese on a baguette ( 8.59) - Green apple slushy (6.25) this was pretty good! They just forgot my drink with the order so I needed to wait extra for that
google avatar

Mary K.

Yelp
Definitely a clean and newer looking space. The kiosks were helpful for me as a newcomer, allowing me to explore my options without holding up the main line. I didn't make any changes to my sandwich but am glad I can add some extra jalapeños at no extra cost. The only downside was that I had to buy the sticky rice separately as the kiosks are reserved for those ordering sandwiches and drinks (possibly more). I was delighted to see the selection of baked goods including ham and cheese croissants and fresh baguettes for sale. The mound of loose cans of soda and other prepackaged drinks was a little confusing but understandable - sometimes storage is tough to manage. Was bustling when I went. Tried studying/reading but it was a bit loud due to the sheer number of people in the establishment. Not a problem. My spread of food - banh mi, sticky rice, and Thai green tea - was immaculate. So delicious. Will be back for more.

Yelp
This place is so great. If I could come here every day i definitely would. Its right next to the Sharp memorial hospital and rhadys so you can stop by after appointments and its quick, easy, and inexpensive. They have such great treats too. My kiddos love coming here, my daughter enjoys the drinks especially. I always grab a quick bite for my parents too since its right down the way from mission valley area too. All the women that work there are very nice as well. The parking lot is difficult at times, but someone is always coming and going.

Yelp
I ordered the #1 k special and an egg coffee. I was disappointed with how much meat was in my sandwich. The egg coffee was good. Nothing special. The service was fast. I see this as similar to a fast food joint.

Yelp
This is the bomb sandwich! #14 Roast beef and cheese sandwich A must try sandwich. They do have ton of stuff on the menu to order from and this place won't disappoint.

Yelp
With the high costs of living in Southern California it's nice to find a place that gives you amazing food and is a great economic deal. K sandwiches is that place. They have lots of American and Vietnamese sandwich options for under $8. They also have various freshly made pastries and baguettes. You can get a large bags of baguette ends for $1.50!!! There are also spring rolls, rice plates, drinks and snacks. They get you through the line quickly and our food got to us quickly. There is plenty of seating inside and a decent sized parking lot with additional food options.
google avatar

Yelp
Still great after reopening ! The banh mi is still superb add pate in everything sooo good and a good snac meal by itself. The fresh spring shrimp had lil pieces only and would have wanted a more hearty size Staff is helpful. Good option in area.

Yelp
Bakery/cafe Serving authentic Vietnamese sandwiches and a few other meal options such as rice and noodle combo plates, this is one of my go to spots for banh mi sandwich's. They offer a variety selection of different types of sandwiches with a vegetarian options as well , also serving breakfast sandwiches, coffee teas, smoothies and juices. ordered fresh sugar cane drink , chicken bao and my favorite the "K special" banh mi sandwich. Everything in the sandwich from the bread, meat and veggies was fresh and the bao was still warm, I notice early in the day you can catch the packaged lunches still hot/warm. The service was quick and staff have always been friendly and patient, the restaurant has a dining area that's pretty spacious and well organized. Things to know: Parking is easy to find Serves snacks and bottled/can beverages Restroom is available to customers Pickup & Delivery orders are available

Yelp
There was a time, many years ago, when K-Sandwiches was considered by many, including me, as the best place in town for bahn mi. I especially liked the version with thit nuong (bbq pork), which came with a delicious fresh bun and was stuffed with tons of fresh veggies. If you ate the sandwich in their restaurant, there were giant bottles of what seemed like (but may not have been) home-made hot sauce. Home-made or not, it added a lot to the sandwich. Yum. The place burned down, and the loss was mourned by all. It took a long time, but finally the family rebuilt. The reworked restaurant had a more open, lighter ambience and was generally an improvement. The sandwiches were pretty much the same as before. Meanwhile, though, a place opened up that was surprisingly the equal, if not even better than K-Sandwiches for bahn mi thit nuong: Pho Hut. So we started going there for them. Management at Pho Hut has changed since then and the bahn mi isn't quite as good as before, but it's still very good. Several years passed, and last week we decided to see how the bahn mi thit nuong was now at K-Sandwiches. The same? Better? Not as good as before? Sorry to say, they were definitely not as good as before. The roll was the best part, still very fresh and just right. But there was little inside, and the meat was almost flavorless. Very, very skimpy, low quality. And there was none of that great hot sauce on the tables. We were given two little packets of siracha sauce when we asked (which was ok, but not the same). We also shared an order of spring rolls, another thing we used to like to get at K-Sandwiches. They were inedible. The thit nuong in them stood out even more with its cardboard-like lack of flavor; the thick wrappers were extremely gummy yet fragile; and the other ingredients inside were completely nondescript and blah. My companion managed to finish hers, but I couldn't get halfway through. Yuk. Horrible. On our way out we picked up a pastry called "pineapple cheese flakey" to eat at home. That was very good. So from now on the only reason for us to go to K-Sandwiches will be to get bread or pastries. Definitely not bahn mi -- and absolutely definitely not spring rolls. If just for the sandwich, I'd give today's K-Sandwiches 3 stars. As in, "ho hum". If just for the pastry, 4 stars ("very good"). But that inedible spring roll drags it down.

Yelp
This is always my lunch spot when I am off from work. It convenient. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and the food never disappoint. The two favorite are the #10 and #11.

Yelp
Hands down best bahn mi around. I'm so lucky it's close by! I usually get the roast beef bahn mi and a pineapple slushee with boba! Also check out the cafe and grab a baguette or croissant on your way out!

Yelp
The best banh mi spot in SD! Their Vietnamese coffee is really good but pretty strong so you have been warned.

Yelp
Can always count on their Bahn Mi sandwich. Full of flavor. Only thing, I think the bread was too hard and the sandwich was dry.

Yelp
3/25/24 - I did a phone order for a number 9, club croissant and a tea. They told me 15-20 minutes. I was down the street and went in to pay. I called only 5 minutes ago and everything was ready to go. No line as well. It was about 11:30am. See photos. I eat here several days a week.

Yelp
I haven't been here in years and remember why. I don't enjoy the sandwiches here which is disappointing since this place is such a San Diego staple. Definitely worth trying once but I wouldn't go back or recommend.

Yelp
Colleagues spoke well of this place so I finally listened to their advice. AMBIANCE: Parking: Plaza parking so you generally shouldn't have any issues. Seating: Counter seating for about 10 people, mainly a good grab-and-go spot. Vibes: It's a college plaza, I can see this is the place where high schoolers and college students come to grab a bite for something simple and quick. The place itself is neat, spacious, and clean but a very hustle and bustle place. There's a tv playing news to keep updated with the world and local happenings. You can get work done here if you have headphones or just stir a conversation with friends. FOOD: K Special Banh Mi (Recommend) $7~ Your simple sandwich of cold cut hams, pate (mixed meat paste), cilantro, jalapenos, butter mayo, pickled carrots and daikon. For a classic banh mi experience, this is a good choice. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Awesome! Our cashier was friendly and quick with the service. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. I can see why this is a staple spot. Great selections, good food, reasonable price, and a pleasant experience. This place is close to the freeway so it's a nice pitstop or grab-and-go as they have a nice range of food, snacks, and drinks. I'm intrigued to try more of their sandwiches so I look forward to returning here. TIPS: * Banh Mi means bread, the sandwich is basically a combination of French bread and Vietnamese delicacies.

Yelp
Great cheap place for your banh mi fix! Banh mi is cheap for less than $10 & enough to feed 2 people. We usually pay the extra couple dollars to get extra meat as well & you can get extra pickled veggies for free. Their spring rolls are good too, but I feel like they're skimpy on the amount of meat & barely give a super thin slice. Their Vietnamese coffee is cheap as well but it wasn't the best in my opinion, I've had better.

Yelp
Great sandwiches and drinks! My mother grew up right around the corner so we've been coming to K Sandwiches for a long time, and it's stayed delicious the whole time. I love getting the sandwiches here on a croissant.

Yelp
Ordered a beef bahn mi... no flavor and anti-climatic. The employees were nice and the store was clean. I also ordered a mocha freeze and that was delicious. It actually didn't melt fast and the flavor was delicious. The last time I went to K Sandwiches was almost 10 years prior to their store burning down and the bahn mi was plain then.. saddened the flavor hasn't changed for the better. I'd come back for the mocha freeze if I'm in the area.

Yelp
A staple in the area! They have delicious pastries and drinks, but I love to order their banh mi during lunch time. My favorite is the lemongrass tofu banh mi, it tastes so fresh. Good prices and staff have always been friendly here. Plenty of places to sit inside and outdoors, but I usually take my sandwiches to a park/the beach and enjoy picnic style!

Yelp
I've been eating here for a few years now. My mom loves the banh mi here. The quality is good, and the inside is nice. Sometimes though, the tables are gross though when dining in. I came here with friends and we wiped our tables ourselves. I usually get Special K for my partner, chicken banh mi (veggies on side), beef banh mi ( veggies on side), and something vegetarian for my sister. She likes the lemongrass tofu banh mi.

Yelp
Always love to visit when in San Diego. It's a san diego classic that is consistent in quality. Banh mi's in hawaii are nearing 20$ so this is a nice drop in price and the sandwhiches seem bigger in SD as well. I ate half for brunch and paired it with a viet iced coffee. Liam enjoyed the fried egg rolls. I saved the other half of my sandwhich for Balboa park. We enjoyed the rest of our K's at the iconic Balboa Park fountain.

Yelp
Food is always fresh! Beverages galore here! Staff are always busy too! Oh and there's plenty of seating! They never offer any suggestions though, which would probably be beneficial to first time customers!

Yelp
This is my go to spot for a banh mi! Even if it's 20 min away from me, I'll make the drive. Granted, I haven't tried any other spots for a Vietnamese sandwich but I don't want to! This is located in a small plaza in front of a high school so it can get pretty crowded during peak hours. They have many kinds of sandwiches, croissants, teas and coffee and other pastries and desserts as well. Even hot entrees and spring/egg rolls if you need something quick to eat! No complaints, they have never done me wrong!!

Yelp
If you haven't tried K sandwiches, please go and try them. They're absolutely delicious and fresh. The service is fast. Plus they have a small store inside if you want to buy some Vietnamese rolls or sweet breads. Always busy
